Northland Day 5: Last day in Northland before heading back to Auckland. Started off on a foggy morning in Whangarei to pick up some of the Onerahi caches, before slowly working my way to town and heading south to Auckland through the Bream Bay Beaches. Lovely weather today, and a great finale to the Northland trip!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
A random little stop for this cache. I spent some time looking for the hard-to-find little walkway. Once I found it, it took a while more to find the cache which was nicely tucked away. Logged and headed on to town. TFTC!

Well this had been a journey in the making for some time as for the past few weeks a group of us were working on puzzles in the area for a 24 hour mission (travel time included) to see what we could reasonably grab.
All caches were signed "HOAC" so as to save space in the logbook. So together with HKCB, 11HPG, kiwis69 & Alpenmilch83 we left Hamilton at 6.pm with the aim to do as many as possible before sleeping in the car, grabbing breakfast and continuing on. Plenty of laughs were had and stories told. Thanks to all the CO's for their efforts in keeping these going and taking the time and effort to place and maintain these caches.
This was one of the few traditional caches that were targeted to collect on the trip as we relocated the car on the way to the next colection of adventure
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

On another HOAC mission, this time with Cats&Dragons, Kiwis69, 11HPG11, and Alpenmilch80. The mission a 24 hour blitz on Whangarei puzzles, plus a certain multi to complete C&D's 5th loop around the D/T grid. Leaving Hamilton at 6pm, with a quick stop in Auckland to pick up A80, we were in Whangarei caching just after 10pm.
During the moonlight hours the plan was to focus on the puzzles around Onerahi, and the Pokemon series, while during thhe daylight the plan was to focus on thegreatauk puzzles plus a few others we had solved. The mission turned out to be fairly successful considering the level on difficultly of most of the hides we were targeting. The logs were signed as HOAC to save room on the logs, a big thanks must go out to all the CO's for their hides.
Took a few minutes of hunting to locate this wee fella, nicely tucked away.

A Friday night a bit different. I got picked up in AKL by a car loaded with Cats&Dragons, 11hpg11, kiwis69, HKCB & a trunk full of food, which could have lasted us for a week surviving in Whangarei. Started into the night with telling a lot of funny stories, enjoying laughter’s and geocaching, geocaching, geocaching.... quick find browsing through the area.
I enjoyed the time out with the HOAC crew and must say when I arrived back home I felt broken, but very happy and accomplished. TFTC and TFTTrip

A trip to Whangarei for the night to collect a few caches is totally normal right? 2 hours sleep is also normal? Our group tonight consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB, Kiwis69, Alpenmilch80 and myself. We left Hamilton at 6pm on Friday and we were home by 6.30pm on Saturday. Some great caches were found and some laughs were had and a lot of sugar and caffeine consumed. A lot of planning and puzzle solving had gone into the prep work so we had a good plan of what caches to attack. Logs were signed as HOAC to save room
Thanks for the cache! No problems finding this one

Found during our 24-hr Whangarei caching mission. After a few weeks' planning and a lot of nights working our way through some of the more recently published puzzles, we (HKCB, 11HPG11, Alpenmilch83, C&D & myself) set off north on Friday evening with our caching wish-list. Great trip: really enjoyed exploring new areas, lots of laughs as always and good to find a few caches (although a bit more sleep would've been nice too!) before we headed back home on Saturday afternoon. All caches were signed "HOAC" so as to save space in the logbooks. First stop was Onerahi for puzzles, the night cache and a few drive-by hides that are a lot easier to look for at night when there are no muggles around - this was definitely one of those! Nice quick find, TFTC
#695 - Visiting Family in Whangarei, so fitting in some caching while I get the chance. Such a stinking hot day today, was nice finding this one in the shade. TFTC
Hi there Riser5 - after arriving back in Whangarei today we decided some caching was in order prior to an event. We also managed a few caches after that event taking our total for the year to just over 1000. SL. The container and log are both in good condition. Thanks to Riser5 for this cache - our find #5230
This is shamefulI I was doing some house keeping ..cache wise and discovered that I had missed logging this one Kahluis and I did a cycle trip around Onerahi collecting caches I remember it was a good circuit...please accept my apologies for this belated log??????thanks Riser 5
On our bikes this afternoon. 2nd on the list. Very nicely tucked away. Thanks for the cache Riser5
Out on the bike tonight to look for a couple. Walkway is a bit steep for an oldie to ride up though...!! Quick find once I reached GZ.

Easy find thankyou , once I searched thoroughly on the correct side of path !!!!!
This one was a tricky one as there was a lot of overgrowth. Due to such an absence since the last find we were reluctant we would find it but sure enough it was right where we thought. Good find
Thank goodness the school kids carried along on home and the old dear didn't take noticed and went back inside. Nice shady spot to sit & sign the log... Whew! Spring has sprung & tis warming up! And smilies are popping up like daisies on the map now too
Enjoying my explore around Onerahi picking up some caches. Thanks for the placement
A quick and stealthy find, The old dear in the garden next door didn't even know I was there. TFTC
A cute little cache. My GPS struggled a bit here because of the hedge along the path. Found after a bit of a search. Luckily there was a lot of cover for this geocacher to hunt without arising suspicion. TFTC
Quick grab

#1398 Night time dash to get my daily cache (and a couple extra to get a nice round number). Cache was exposed so rehid before I left. TFTC!
Today we spent a full day of caching in the Whangarie area followed by a bit of sight seeing.
The caches we found today were all in great areas with wonderfull views of the harbour.
Thanks for placing this cache Riser5
Quick find despite not been visited since March. TFTC. Muggles working busily.... building a house a little further down the road.
Found as part of my Post Mega northen road trip. Really enjoyed a part of the country I hadn't seen before. Thanks to all those who have placed cacahes to encourage us southerners to come your way!
Found with renelm and Difool, logged as RAD to save log space, time and trees.
I am not much of a logwriter, so see renelms, and possibly Difools, log for details.

By this stage in the day, we must have been getting used to the CO's hides because it was a quick find. TFTC.
11.15am. Not quite the way I would describe it but still an easy find as I could see it. May be harder for the next one cause I covered it!
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
A FTF for Liz and Pete on a wet Saturday finding some of Nick's newly hidden caches. Thanks for the effort you put into hiding these caches Nick.
