Day 3: Maclean to Brisbane to Tweed Heads
Today was my "surprise day" for AMTG. Knowing her love for Bats, I made a plan to visit the Australian Bat Clinic near Brisbane. My original plan for Australia was to visit Melbourne, but when I learned of the clinic, Brisbane became the target. After our visit to the clinic we cached around Brisbane for a while before starting the long drive back to Sydney. Tweed Heads was an opportune stop [8] for the night and provided a delicious meal [^] at the Bowls Club as well as some entertainment for a few hours.
___________________________________________________________________________
Adventure Log:
What better way to spend vacation than traveling as far away from home as possible[?] When AMTG asked me a few months ago where I would like to go, Australia was the most auspicious target. While Perth would have put me 11000mi from home, Sydney was certainly sufficient. [8].
We only had a limited number of days, so I built a route allowing us to visit Brisbane, Canberra, and Sydney within our 6 days. This, of course, meant quite a bit of driving [8)]. This whirlwind tour afforded us many wonderful vistas along the coast, in the 'mountains', and through the countryside.
We couldn't have asked for better weather and were only hindered by rain on our last evening in Sydney. And by hindered, I mean that the rain and traffic made me late for (miss) my own event at the Opera Hall [xx(].
In our 6 days, we covered over 2400km [^] and managed to find 76 caches, comprised of 60 Traditional, 8 Earthcache, 4 Virtual, 1 Multi, 1, Mystery, 1 Letterbox, and 1 Event.

AMTG of the OUTLAW CACHERS strikes again. On an awesome vacation with IXF and got to see some beautiful places in your country. The folks were so friendly and the country was unbelievable. IXF took care of me and allowed me to have a great adventure.
Super thank for the cache! The log is fairly full.

Found this cache on our road trip up north, the ants has turned this into their home plus logbook is pretty wet.
We were heading home to Brisbane after a weekend at South West Rocks and it was time to stretch the legs.
There was a large truck parked close by but the driver was probably sleeping so I ducked into the trees and soon located the cache.

We decided to go for a drive on the Public Holiday and grab some local caches. We decided to head to Wardell via Wyrallah and try to find as many as we could before the rain started. Homeward bound now, we waited for the area cleared out before locating the cache. After a short search, hubby found the cache and a geocoin not to far away in the dirt. Thanks for the hide WaldenClan
Did not find but too smelly of an area for us to stay long. Master 7 did find a bong however and I turn around to him holding it saying Hey mum how weird is this hahaha
As it was raining the family decided to spend a quiet day chilling back at the accommodation leaving me free to grab more than a handful of caches. The other advantage of the rain was that it kept the muggle activity to a minimum.
A quick find. TNLN. TFTC.

On our way home from our annual ski trip following our geo-padowans woodyrothwell a day later, we noticed they made a grab for this cache so we thought it was a great opportunity to ensure their log signing training is paying off! Seems to be all good;) The geo kids found the cache floating in space!

On a seven hour drive back to QLD and had to stop and find some caches in order to keep us sane. Stopped in the rest area and was happy to notice a cache available to find. Tftc
Huzzah! A new log book needed. This one completely full and very wet. Great spot! Tftc
11:49:00 AM. Pulled into the rest area but luckily the cache was far enough away from the muggles. Followed the geo trail and made the find. Took TB to move on and signed wet and full log. Placed it back in a bag. Thanks WaldenClan for placing this cache.
Not such a quick find, all a bit of a tangle and about to scramble away when I spotted it. Not quite dry inside but ok.
This was our lunch stop as we head north after a couple of days held up by the storms of the last few days.
We are looking for warmer climes after being quite cold further south!
The geo-trail was somewhat well disguised by the recent weather event so it took a couple of minutes to get to GZ and then locate the cache.
Thank you for a nice stop and a chance to search for a cache on our stop on our way north.

Geo kids and I heading back from Port Macquarie half ironmen where we watched a family member compete this weekend. On the way home boys restless for a walk and to stretch the legs we found this one on the way. Kids thoroughly enjoyed it – TFTC.. Had to navigate a dead wallaby on the little park in to the bush but otherwise all good with this cache!!
Today it was time to drive home from my Gold Coast holiday I had organised to leave nice and early (0430hrs) and get on the road to grab a number of caches along the way. I managed to grab 38 caches today. A normal person would travel from the GC to Canberra in ~12.5-13hours, not this geocacher. I finally got home 20.5 hours after I started
Apologies for the generic logs, I visited some lovely locations today and took some pretty cool picts (which ill attach to a few of the logs).

Yay found it! Gps jumped around, container in good nick. Left a trackable and collected FT6BPG.
Certainly away from muggles. We'd never had reason to stop here before but a cache is good enough reason today.
We bush bashed for a while and finally found the well hidden cache. T4TC WC!

We stopped to look at the very fine chickens at the southbound rest stop on the way to Yamba, and at the time I had though this cache was located there...(note to self: READ THE NAME!!) only to realise we were close- but no cigar. On the trip home we made sure to stop in the correct place this time and soon claimed another smilie. I dropped a TB for the next travellers to collect and move on. Tftc WaldenClan

Blacklegend & I were heading down to Grafton for a purchase that he needed to make locally there and he wanted some company so I had jumped at the chance!!!
There were still some good caches close to the highway that I hadn't done and BL hadn't done many at all so we would be making more stops for him to pick up ones but I was just looking forward to the trip.
The number of times I had been up and down this highway I couldn't believe this one was still unfound by me!!
My GPS just wouldn't play fair here and I couldn't lock in on GZ luckily BL was not as handicapped and came up with the prize quickly!!!
Thanks WaldenClan TFTC SL

The previous logs were not wrong about the spiders and prickle bushes but will worth the find. TFTC
Stopped to take a break and find a cache. Walking in shorts and t-shirt through prickly plants was not particularly pleasant but then again no pain no smiley in the sport of geocaching. Cache is all good. SL & replaced. TFTC
Found on the way to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. An easy find except for the six cobwebs and spiders I had to get through in order to get there. TFTC WaldenClan

Each year I like to get out of Brisbane for a week or so around my birthday in September. This year I decided to plan a road trip which would take myself, Captain Terror and catscatscats22 on a 2700km loop of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales. We were gone from the 18-24 September and visited Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Uralla, Armidale, Maclean, Yamba then came home following the coast road.
This was the 106th cache for me for the trip. We were on the home stretch back to Brisbane when we stopped for this cache. It was a bit tough to get to this cache but once at GZ the container was found out in the open. The logbook was signed and the container replaced. Thanks for the cache WaldenClan

For Net88’s birthday this year, she, Captain Terror, and I went on a road trip of awesomeness, taking us out west from Brisbane.
A total of six days, our whirlwind adventure took us West through Dalby, Miles, Tara and Surat, and then South through Lightning Ridge (the farthest West I’d been!). Then we’d continue South through Walgett, Pilliga, Baradine, and Coonabarabran to Tamworth. Then it was through Uralla to Armidale, and Maclean to Yamba, and finally back to Brisbane.
We saw kangaroos, emus, baby emus, kookaburras, giant guitars, so many sunsets, and so many snacks, thanks to the help of Snackman.
A nice holiday from work, it was also a great excuse to pick up geocaches along the way.

From 18 to 24 September, Net88, catscatscats22 and I embarked on a road trip to see some different parts of Australia. We drove from home in Brisbane to Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Armidale, Maclean, Yamba, Ballina and home again, a drive of over 2700 kilometres, a few nights camping and 122 geocache visits to guide us along the way.
And thankfully for this geocache, we were indeed headed north on our 'home again' leg of the trip. We pulled up and parked close. I was grateful we didn't need to be near the picnic tables or toilets and indeed, there were no muggles near us.
So, into the bush we go. Despite how often this one is found, I managed to have to battle with lantana to get here. There was no clear way in, not even one we could see once we got to the geocache. It didn't take much to find though as the container was laying out in the open with no cover. Inside in good condition though, so once it was signed, I tucked it away closeby, out of immediate sight.
More lantana to get out and an odd look from someone driving off and we're done here. Thanks for this geocache, WaldenClan

Heading south, into remote NSW, for a couple of weeks so what better way to break the monotony of the trip than find a few caches along the way?
Despite travelling south we snuck across for a quick park & grab.
BAD geocachers! LOL ...

after a long weekend of road tripping and caching I had one green blimp I was determined to get rid of, so in we pull and oh no a muggle parked right at the spot, ok we are going to wait him out and we did, then it was a quick grab, sign and we could be gone with that local green one turned to a smilie. Driving up to Gold Coast for a holiday, from Canberra! Long trip so needed a few stops, this being one of them.
