Heading back to the airport after doing the Old Ghost Rd. Luckily a quick find.
Day 8 on our holiday in New Zealand. Today our tour is going from Punakaiki to Nelson. We also visited this tradi, found it, and signed the logbook.

Not having a very successful morning on a drive out to Hawke crag...nice to make a find on my way back..tftc
Pulled over for a short break on a rainy drive and scored the cache as a bonus. Thanks.
As I was driving home, the lunch bell rang in my stomach, so I had to stop to consume mass quantities. This nice little rest stop appeared, so I pulled in. It was too windy to eat outside, so I had a picnic inside my Geovan which is quite spacious.
I thought, "Too bad there a cache located here." Wait a minute, there is! TFTC.

Had to find a stick first to clear the humongous cobweb before I attempted to retrieve the cache. That done a quick sign replace and off we go.TFTC
#10,132. Day 5 of the southern road trip. Infoferret and I decided to travel around the top of the South Island after the Mega event in Auckland at Labour weekend was postponed. Its been a great opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of Canterbury and Westland. After staying overnight in Westport we are making our way today to St Arnaud and Murchison today. The weather has been great so far on the trip. Like an early summer. But this morning its light rain and drizzle.
We have done a few caches in Westport this morning. Its time to head east where the weather is meant to be drier. Looks like a nice place to stop and look around on a fine day. Today we just needed to grab that cache which was quickly found. Signed the logbook and replaced where found. Thank weenz for hiding it here.

Slightly out of sequence as this was one I hadn't saved to my phone (we were going in and out of useable signal as we drove along), so I was reliant on GSEL's better organisation and the caches downloaded onto his GPS for where we stopped and what we looked for.
Found whilst GSEL was distracted by the river and the birds TFTC.

On a trip with Ruru_NZ to gather the tour caches needed or in my case not done yet. Should be able to knock them off on this trip.
Have fond memories of early visits through here as a child.

A quick find as we passed through.

Day 9 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Travelled from Reefton to Westport today. Picked up a few caches along the way, then more on the Cape Foulwind walkway in the afternoon. This one was a reasonably quick find. #4102. TFTC.
Next stop on my road trip down south. Today Blenheim -> Hokitika. I was intending on going via the east coast, but given the recent weather events in Canterbury, thought the west coast might be an easier route to take. Picked up a few caches along the way. Nice P&G to get here. Tftc weenz
Old Ghost Road done...boots off...change of clothes...time to head home picking off some Park and Grabs on the way.

Heading down the Buller to the West Coast today. I enjoyed the drive, the scenery, and the stops along the way. TFTC
A quick and easy find here. TFTC weenz.
Driving home from Little Wanganui to Brightwater, then on to Blenheim. I had a pass from RG1972 to fill my boots on any caches I wanted, so I made a loose hitlist and we worked through them until I got either too bored, too tired, or more likely, too wet. It started off torrential but surprisingly eased later in the day. In fact we enjoyed some good sunny periods despite the forecast looking dodgy in all places we visited. And a good number of caches - ones that I have ignored on previous drive-bys. Nice to knock some of these off. All logs signed ricnz if not enough space. Thanks all for the caches.

*Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!*
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
Weather was quite bad again with lots of rain
*We soon had another good cache located, quick find in the rain!*

When I travelled from Murchison to Westport this morning I noticed all these caches on the side of the road but the parking areas were too small for the cachemobile and the snail shell so I just had to come back just about as far as Inangahua.
Cheers for the cache.

Day 16 of our Sth Island (substitute for Seattle) trip. Today it's Greymouth/Westport/Blenheim. Again the weather was great. Many caches through here and chose a few at random to collect.
Found the cache dismantled on the ground and the log destroyed. I put it back together with a new log sheet and put it in an obvious hidy hole.

**Found on our February - March tour around the South Island. Logging back home in Auckland in Lockdown isolation**
Yesterday we drove up the coast from Greymouth to Westport, and today we are travelling back via the inland route.
Lots of quick stops for caches along here, mostly with good parking for the camper. Another fast find here, thanks.

I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Had a great drive around the block today Greymouth, Reefton, Westport plus a few side roads, a bit of rain, many thanks to all the cache placer's. Thanks Bitsprayer
Tight little rest area to enter especially if someone else is here. Thanks for the cache
On our way home after a short break in Westport. Just time for a couple of park and grabs. This cache was a quick find. TFTC.

[#4404] On this sunny Thursday we drove from Tapawera to Greymouth while on holiday in New Zealand. We stopped a few times to admire the views at which occasions we also searched for any nearby caches. Main site we visited were the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki. Thanks to all cache owners for making our visit even more fun and interesting.

22200 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we went from Greymouth to Nelson, via Punkaiki and we had all day, so we made many stops. Allong the road we found many caches, but we also visited the Pancaces and Windholes. The caches brought us to many special remarkable places.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Muggles did not watch what we were doing.

A quick easy find. We don't think the people eating in the nearby campervan took much notice of us. TFTC
Aha following Weka down the track today.... plenty of room for us to pull off here and no muggles around either. TFTC
Due to varying signal whilst in NZ I thought I'd successfully logged this on our fabulous trip but I hadn't!! We called here on our way to Westport on a rather damp day (one of only 3 we experienced during our 4 weeks!) and so we didn't venture down the path but just made a quick find of the cache. Thanks.
Found with VikingNav today while exploring the area during our drive from Westport to Nelson. The wall speaks again. Thanks for the fun cache! >^..^

Found during our holiday to New Zealand together with GeoFinn. Touring in a campervan through this amazing country; second time here, now with our son. 5 weeks was over in a blink; already plans for a third time.
Travelling, geocaching, hiking, kayakking, swimming, mountains, lakes, geyers, beaches; it was amazing. CO's thanks for your cache, it made our trips even more fun.

The timing was good for this cache, where we pulled up, grabbed, signed and returned the cache before any traffic appeared. tftc
After a great day with kayaking and walking in Kaiteriteri and watching some fireworks later on, our aim was getting to Punakaiki today. Most of the time mmmmike and me drove next to one of the rivers or the sea, which made the trip even nicer. So, the aim was clear, but we were not in the best shape since it is first of January. That’s why the caches were pretty helpful today to stop once in a while, stretch the legs and get some fresh air or just enjoy the views and the gorgeous landscape from one of the stops.
Thanks for the cache. Good start for the new year.

Found with NZDi. We had been intending to do a trip to the Coast after a workmate and fellow geocacher came back from a Christmas camping holiday and dropped a map of walks around Westport on my desk. On comparing the walk and geocaching maps, it was apparent to see there was plenty of scope for a geocaching holiday or three to the coast. The only thing we needed to ensure was that the weather played the game, unlike when my workmate had her Christmas break there. Knowing that we had the weekend free this weekend I kept an eye on the forecast for the coast and it was looking pretty good, so a motel was booked and a rudimentary and flexible geocaching plan was hatched.
The idea was to head to the Coast early on Friday morning picking up no more than half a dozen caches along the way. We limited ourselves to this as we know from previous experience that it can take over six hours to do an hour and a quarter trip if you are geocaching as well.. Once we got to the coast, we were going to do the Cape Foulwind walk, then cache as much as we could from there back to town. We then intended to do as much of the K.R.T caches before retiring for the night and in the morning do the Charming Creek Walk before heading back home again picking up the odd cache along the way. In the end it was mission achieved with 71 finds over two days and only one DNF along the way.
We came across from Blenheim yesterday getting a few caches along the way. On arrival on the Coast we first headed out to the Cape Foulwind walking track and did that both ways. Then we found most of the other caches on the west side of the river. After that we headed over to the east side of river and did the K.R.T series and accompanying caches. Today's mission is to do the Charming Creek Walkway, then head home.
The 20 caches that we did on the Charming Creek walkway took us around five hours to do on foot and was an amazing walk, but no it is time to head home so I've made a selection of caches that I think are on the right (left) side of the road and which have reasonable parking to get on the way home. I've also given myself a two minute limit to find the cache, if I haven't found it by then, it is on to the next.
This was the second of nine caches found on the way home and the only one in which we found a trackable of the 73 caches we found this weekend. A QEF PnG like the other ten found on the way home.
