Logs
#2638. A short Labour Weekend Wairarapa break for GB Leader and me. It's been 1,117 days since I recorded a DNF here, and never returned. It's pretty certain the cache was missing last time, as there were a few other DNF's recorded at that time (Sept 2020).But today, a quick drive from our motel on our long weekend in Greytown, and in the first place I looked, there it was! A nice morning walk in the sun.Tftc J 'N' K. Wet log is full and needs replacing.
A day in the Wairarapa today beginning in Featherston, then onto Martinborough, over to Carterton and behind then down to Greytown for the night. 18 Ad labs, 22 trads, 22 mystery and 1 multi, 4 muggled out so didn't look and only one DNF.
A quick find and sign here. Thanks for the cache.

This was the fourth geocache I found today, as well as being the first one I found on this trail. I parked my vehicle at the nearby entrance off the corner of Udy and North Street, grabbed my water and pen and set off. I initially intended to find the cache at the start of the trail first, but some barking dogs from a nearby property alerted some muggles, so I decided I would try and collect it on the return journey.
I began making my way along the trail towards the cache. It was a warm sunny day and the gentle breeze was helping to keep me cool. I soon arrived at GZ and, after a quick check of the hint, had the cache in hand. The logsheet was quite wet but I managed to find a place to sign it. On some of the caches along this trail, I shortened my signature to 'PagC' but am unsure if this was one of them.
After replacing this cache and continuing on my way, the cows from the nearby farm were walking along their own trail parallel to this one, presumably to the milking shed or another paddock. Some of them seemed to take a curious interest in my presence, watching me as I walked by. I continued my journey to find the remaining caches along this trail.

Thanks to the CO for providing the seat to help with writing up the log!
I am supposed to be tramping but weather is not playing ball, so I only went for a day walk. And spent the rest of the time mucking about the lower Wairarapa. I had been aiming to do this series, and the archived other half further up, for quite a while. Now's my chance.
Ruddy long walk back to the car after I had done both sets. And of course, it was at the start of the long walk back that it started raining...

I'm not that keen on rural settings like this but I am keen on finding trails of caches. This was a quick find. I've forgotten what condition it was in now but everything I found today was signable even if some were a bit damp. Thanks for making this a trail instead of a random cache.
Incoming rainy nasties thwarted our plans to proceed further on the trail. Loving the ponies; alpacas and other nature things even in this small section! Found with Piwaka54. TFTC
We made this the last of the day and enjoyed our walk out to the Waiohine River. I remember working in the headwaters of this river in the 1970's. Great track and line of caches but would be better if the missing one was resited in the nearby poplar tree. Would have done that if we had a container. All good though, thanks J'N'K.
Spoilt for choice but decided to try the power trail as the weather was iffy. Nice find. Cache is all good. Even a seat for surveying the scenery while we ate some well-earned lunch. TFTC
From Auckland and on a 7 weeks motor trip to the South Island to do all our outstanding parkruns.
TFTC. Found with VinnigeVoete

Today is my last day of my time away from home. I'm driving from Masterton to the Ferry then on to Nelson. Time to find a few caches along the way. Having spent most of the last couple of days driving, it was nice to have a bit of a leg stretch on this walk. All good here. Cache found exactly where it was supposed to be. TFTC, Biggles.
Fantastic extended caching weekend with evilC! We enjoyed the nice walk to the river, no one around. TFTC!!
A nice stroll along here this evening. Thanks for more smilies and for the exercise. Cheers
Visiting Masterton for a few days of work at the hospital. Fortunately it’s quiet so got time off to collect some local caches and explore Greytown again. Returned here for a nice walk and to turn two of our sad faces into smiley. Much better. Some lovely horses nearby including so me miniature horses and this foal. Thanks for the recent maintenance.
Had an audience of cows. Fairly easy find with @peadub. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
Perfect weather for caching. Spending a few days in the area with Talla64 and enjoying a great bike ride on this trail. Thank you for all the caches J 'N' K.
On a trip to the Wairarapa with Flowerydaze and doing some caches and this one was on the list. Nearly missed this one as we hadn't spotted the second sign on the other side of a tree but when we did, there it was.
Visiting Masterton for a week of work. Had some spare time to head out and collect some nearby caches. Searched no with no success. Maintenance check would be good.
In view of multiple DNF it would be good if the CO could check that’s it’s still there. Thanks
A return visit to change the sad face to a happy face. A nice short walk in the hot afternoon sun. TFTC
This was the third day of a trip with my Muggle wife down to Greytown. I got the entire day to do some Geocaching, so I headed for this trail to grab a few. I was faked out by the hinted at item that I was looking towards instead of the right one. TFTC.

Mrs geodatum was very pleased to be able to join haydn.seek and PJMacNZ on a caching expedition to the Greytown area on this beautiful autumn day. We signed cache logs under a joint team name hamage, using two letters from each of our caching names.
It was a long day, hot and tiring at times, but we had a high success rate and pooling our various strengths worked well for all of us.
We enjoyed many of the caches but much of the river trail to Woodside was hard-going . Unfortunately the trail is apparently no longer being maintained and disappears altogether in many places under the rampant growth of grasses and weed - including blackberry and wandering willie - and access to some of the caches is now very difficult. A few seem to be missing.
After an early morning coffee and a few town caches, it was time to tackle the GTPT caches. The first part of the trail from Udy St to Kuratawhiti St is well maintained, it is after that that the terrain causes issues. It is disappointing however, that #6, disabled since last October has still not been attended to.
#1-#7, excluding #6, were all quick, straightforward finds. Paper was quite wet, but still signable. TFTC

Decided to try and get a few of this series today and managed to grab 5, this being the second. Thanks CO for the cache.
It’s great having five microcachers with us as they find the cache pretty much before we get there! Found with BenYeoman and tribe! TFTC
