I have decided to archive this cache as it is vulnarable to being taken and has been replace a number of times
As I was overseas in January and February and came back in to lockdown I am unable to replace this cache but will do so once we can reenter sports grounds
Lovely day to be out caching. Returned to try and find this one as it was previously missing. This time found half the cache and with the CO’s permission are logging a find. Thanks mjmnz

Had a rather unsuccessful evening caching. Only 4 finds out of 10 caches. Got close to GZ and searched what seemed the most obvious places but no joy.
Multiple DNFs and nearly a year since it was found. Would be great if the CO could check it out. Thanks.
Walked around the grounds and positioned myself where I had a view of the cycling track. I wondered how I would be able to get close enough to where the compass was pointing but then decided to check close by and ‘Yay!’ The cache was found. Finding a space on the log was a challenge as it is absolutely full. Squeezed into a tiny space but a new log book is definitely overdue. TFTC
Came out after a pub quiz. Unfortunately it's raining but we are still trying to attempt the 365 day challenge. Log is full so unable to squeeze nor name on.
It's the first time I see a velodrome. Quick find but the logbook is totally full. TFTC
Last find of the day, right on dusk. Nice to visit the historic Cooks Garden athletics track. Was a similar hide to one I found a couple of weeks ago so didn't take long to find. Not too many options anyway. Sorry, hadn't read up on the cache before coming here so didn't bring a replacement logbook. Not that we knew what sort of logbook it needed! We overwrote a faded entry. TFTC.
Cool spot, nice view. Needs a new logsheet i signed the last spot with T.R 71. Tftc
Found and signed as part of Team IE. TFTC! I will admit I circled arouns a bit before I got the idea...
Fairly quick find here once GPS settled and we realsied this was the closest we could get. TFTC and greetings from the UK
#9648. As we came to explore more of Whanganui and its surrounding areas, we thought we would return and check out this cycling games venue too. Had the old coordinates loaded in the GPS, so went there initially and of course did not find anything. Once we realised our mistake, reloaded the current coordinates and walked the 42 metres to GZ, where it was all quiet when we visited. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

#3520 18 of 24 today.
Day 5 of my NZ trip (already ?) and the weather was very pleasant today and should be OK for the remaining few days. Today I was in and around Whanganui. Before lunch I visited Mowhanu, just up north and then the Bason Botanic gardens which has quite a few geocaches. After lunch I slowly headed back into town via Nobby's Grotto which has some very cool caches and then a few "urban" caches around town. I should have found a lot of caches today but my eye was not "in" today and I missed heaps. Perhaps the only downside of the day.
I've come across a few hidden in such a place. Very tricky. I had to wait for some muggles to pass before I could return it.

Went for a walk in Cooks Gardens by torchlight after dinner in the city. The GPSr was pointing to a spot on the other side of an impassable barrier and I thought I might have to give up - however I checked a few likely spots and soon discovered the evil little nano container. Signed log, TFTC
Did this today with The Wandering Dragons and Violet Butterfly. After some nice weather earlier today, the wind really kicked up for this one. Fortunately a quick find. Thank you.

Found today with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter. I was searching likely location #1 when TWD shouted out that they had found it at likely location #2. Ah well, still a smiley. Thank you!
Cache # 1,300

Cache # 3,846 - travelling with the two small geocachers today (Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly), it was a really neat stop just after petrol to grab this one on the way to Taranaki. Relatively quick find despite the initial misgivings thsat it might be out of reach. All well with the cache, and awesome to see the velodrome. Thanks for bringing us here. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Walked right past this the previous day overlooking that I had missed it, I particularly wanted to catch up with the Masters series as last time I was up here as a participant in another sport but thought it was unlikely I would be able to get to these while the games were on.
This time all quiet and peaceful first thing on a nice fine Saturday morning with the sun just started to warm things up.
A quick easy find as there were not many options.

A little bit tricky to extract and replace with cold fingers in an icy wind and light rain. Good placement. tftc
tricky tricky this had us about 3m from the cache hubby made the find as I was too fixed on where my phone was telling me to be, but it was a quick find for him thanks for the placement.
Nice easy find here today especially early in the morning, not too many people around, have been to this location before to watch night of the stars,it's a pity that they haven;t enclosed this seems to be weathering reasonably well as a spectator but could be a whole different ball game for the riders. thanks for the placement of this cache and the smiley.
Unfortunately a muggles had decided to park right next to it so it was a ten minute wait till she left and a quick find. Tftc
Quick.find here today on an attempt to find 30 caches in a day and this is number 25
Thank you for bringing me here chance to see Taranaki local hero Peter Snell as I went to the next cache TFTC
Refreshed by lunch in town, so decided to tackle these Cook's Gardens' caches. Got on my bike first! TFTC
Potentially one of the smallest caches I've found so far! Nice hiding spot - tftc!
Took me a second go to find this one! What a hike aswell! Amazing view of everything
Of cource I had to look after this cache, too. Because it's hidden at an very unusual place: A outdoor velodrom. Up to now I only saw three of them (all I Germany) and they were all ruins and not in use for many years. But before I could search for the cache, I had a nice conversation with an older Kiwi woman. Afterwards I took some time before I had the right idea. Well hidden!
Thanks a lot for the cache.

Picked this up when completing the cooks gardens multi. A couple of tourist muggles came along so had some delay replacing it. TFTC

The cache has gone again and a new cache is in a new position . As the coordinates are further away they need to be altered by Growly bear
Have replaced the cache again. Will need to find another place or achieve it as there are limited places due to other caches in the area
Had a bit of spare time so I returned to this one that had eluded me earlier in the year. Looks like it was replaced a few months ago. Had it in hand within seconds.
Today was a day to sign off a few caches in Whanganui. First of all I started with a wee walk around town.
This was the first time I have ever been to Cooks Gardens. I have heard about it plenty of times.
Cheers for the cache.

We had loaded the caches into our gps earlier in the week so when we looked at this one there was a string of DNFs so decided not to look for it. However, as we were passing the spot to find the co-ords for the nearby multi, we spotted the cache in the open. Signed log and tucked back as per hint. tftc
New log and container replaced about 15 minutes before Supasi found the new container
Judging by the last few conments and the fact that we are sure we are in the right place we think the cache has gone awol. :/
Popped back after an unsuccessful search earlier in the month. This time early enough to have a proper poke around. Still no joy, I might park this one for now until I see someone else has found it.
The geoson found this one and found the velodrome as well (I couldn't see it!!). We love watching cycling especially the tour de france. TFTC.
Only us and 2 people in the area today, and they were busy playing with some egg shaped ball down on the field, so we had it pretty much to ourselves.
Could see this one as we approached area, After we signed it, It was tucked behind where i believe it was originally placed.
Cheers

Offically found it and log signed!! Cache was a considerable distance from where I found it on the grass a few weeks ago. Enjoyed the afternoon walk and the view as usual. Glad to have this one under my belt
Log and container back in place. Thank you River Queen for returning it to me. Please replace securely so it doesn't roll out. MJMNZ
back from overseas trip and will replace the container soon. Thanks to Queen of the river for returning log and cache.

No luck for me either with this one. Had a really good look around. Will try again next time I visit. Cheers!
I was at Cooks Gardens during the weekend and found a cannister with logbook on the lawn near the bell tower. There is no id on the log book except for MJMNZ. Sent an email to him but no contact so far.
