What a lovely spot. Gee the lake levels are low which means it is not as attractive as when I was last caching in the area. The log has recently been signed by campers from Picton - seems an unlikely spot for them to stumble across the cache. TFTC # 20,889
We introduced some local family members to geocaching this afternoon and searched for a few caches around the lake. This one was a quick find in the obvious place. All good with the cache. TFTC wardsmithfamily.
Easy find and first cache of our extended weekend at this magnificent place
We are taking our cat Coco on a motorhome and Geocaching holiday. She looks after our home while we go off in Suzy on GC adventures.
Nice easy find at hint. Thanks for the cache wardsmithfamily.

JDSCOUT and I are having a campervan holiday in Fairlie. Jude_E is staying nearby too. The container was beyond repair so we replaced it. Thanks wardsmithfamily for creating this hide. It was find 9789 for me.

We found the spot where the cache should be but it was clearly past its best. Hope the owner doesn't mind but a replacement has been left at the spot. Thanks. #6731
We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. So we spotted this lake and decided that we would come and spend a bit of time looking around.
We enjoyed the stunning scenery as we biked from the dam to the boat launching ramp, there were several boats zooming around having a wonderful time on the lake.
Then we were back in the camper having a look at other areas of the lake.
The long and very dusty grass made getting to this one more of a GK mission than for me as I get dreadful hayfever. So I stayed in the van and watched for muggles, but we were far enough away that no one took any notice of what he was up to.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Found no trouble, log and bags wet, replaced the inner bag and put csche6in a black container to hopefully keep it drier. TFTC.
12.00: Still exploring Lake Opuha. No difficulties in finding this little one. Wading through the wet grass after the rain was the biggest challenge here[xx(].
Weather: overcast, low clouds, 11°C;
Wheelchair: overgrown, on the road only, close enough to watch;
State: quite good, a bit wet, bring a pen!
Thank you!

Drove out to check on camping facilities at Lake Opuha, and whilst at Hay's Camp I had to find this cache of course. Thanks for the placement wardsmithfamily.
Found with our 2 and 5 y.o. T4TC. Thanks! Nice and sunny today so we dried out the cache completely.
Assume it was the cache I found. No logbook just a swap within two plastic ziplock bags. Shame no logbook but that’s assuming I found it
Camped overnight, great to do a cache at a beautiful spot even though it’s raining and we got wet legs in the grass!! Wet bag but dry inside. Thanks for hiding
Off to Opuha Lake for the day and this was a nice quick find before our main mission TFTC
Camping out here for two days so had some time to do a little maintenance. Dried the logbook and everything else and added another zip lock back to try to keep it dryer.
This is a beautiful camping area, especially on a sunny day.

Camping at Waitangi weekend ... first cache to find with the new geocaching app! Yay! Super hot day, glad this cache not far from our camp site! TFTC
A lovely couple of hours picnicking, fishing and kayaking at the lake. A quick find to round off the afternoon. Thanks to the geocacher who replaced the log, we were the first to sign it and found it nice and dry.
Grabbed this one on the way back from a nice wander out, very hot day, but the logs are a tad damp. Cheers.
A quick stop and sign. Log starting to get a bit damp.
Decided on a weekend away in South Canterbury. Had some amazing weather and the mountains and valleys were superb.
Thanks for the hide.

Checked on this today, chain on container broken, changed Hint accordingly
... an easy find on an extremely hot day, there were a few campers around. Cannot recall seeing Lake Opuha so low.
wasn't quite where I expected it to be but worth the find u get a favourite vote for the container alone, need to get some of those for our next hide, didn't have a boat our kayak to get out to the island today summers not far away so I will be back. thanks Phillip and co.
All was good for this one.
Still lots of campers here, great spot. The lake water was way down.

we biked to this. heaps of locals here gearing up for a party.
we were going to log a DNF, but as we were leaving, noticed a tatty plastic bag in the paddock. This contained the cache.
Log book nice and dry though.
So , we returned cache where we think it belongs, minus the bag....maybe that had attracted a bird or animal.
Thanks for the cache.

Spyed this cache pop up last evening and to come this way for work today. So took an hour to grab both caches here. This one took a few minutes as the cache had moved about 2m from its hiding place but I found and put back. FTF.
