The sun was out this morning so it seemed like a good day to head up to Whittlesea and complete the maintenance run on the rest of The Whittlesea Compass series. I found some of these when they were first released, but the rest were solved over numerous lockdowns and have been sitting in ny solve pipe ever since.
I was expecting to have to replace the Whittlesea Compass cache here as it had been DNFd a few times. I had a bit of a search around GZ to make sure it was definitely missing and low and behold I actually found it. Or did I? Turns out the cache wasn’t The Whittlesea Compass and was actually this old archived cache which was still in place. I managed to decipher the log and an entry by Riddell and traced it back to this cache. I signed the log book, but now that this cache is classified as geo rubbish I have removed it.
Thanks rubus for this old cache.

Hey, TFTC, great outer container however the note book log has turned to paper mâché
Found it but couldn't get it open with a spanner because the nut on the other side was spinning freely. Brilliant cache.

Needed to use the logs for a hint but found it eventually. Got distracted by some other likely places closer to the road.
This is an awesome cache, love it when people go the extra mile with their vessel. Unfortunately the log was too wet to write on but nonetheless TFTC.
Thanks rubus for the cache. Found 26 August 2016 5:00 pm TNLN. rogeramjet&eagles and Geo Jenni.
The mechanism to get this cache open isn't working and it was very difficult to extract the cache. Once extracted the log was very very very wet and needs replacing. A great cache but it needs some TLC at the moment.
Out for a day of Caching and 4WD'ing on this lovely sunny Melbourne winters day. This was the fourth of 8 finds for the day and a quick easy one at that. Another well designed cache, however the mechanism to get it open isn't working and it was difficult to extract the cache. Had a couple of shifters but a can of WD40 may have been helpful. Once extracted the log was very very very wet and needs replacing. TFTC and bringing us down this track. TNLN.
I think the opening mechanism is broken and everything in the cache is wet and soggy
Always worth finding a Rubus cache! One is never disappointed.
No exceptions here. Clever little hide. Thanks for your efforts

Another awesome cache, thank you for all the caches around the area, has made for a great day out! Logbook very waterlogged as it wasn't inside internal container... needs a replacement but i signed as well as i could.
Great cache but in need of maintenance. Great sunny day out with Prin666cess. TFTC
Found with Sab very quickly, not sure that it was rehidden properly. Log was pretty wet but we managed to sign it. Thanks for a very creative cache
Great name, but stood out to me straight away! Unfortunately someone didn't put away properly and book is saturated because not in container.
I just remarked at the previous cache about its uniqueness and again this is another one that fits into that category , thanks for your efforts
Great hide, very fun. We were distracted by other possible hiding places to begin with, but knew they weren't quite right. Then one of the Geokids found it. TFTC
Searched for it with Brynntrout in the dark. He found it before I could! Awesome container!
Out for a morning caching with TinkerTraveller, 'jeckleberry and tedd' and CharliBear10. I was starting to look tired by now as I was the driver today and I felt like a rally driver. "Turn right". "Turn left". "Drive on". "Park here".
This was our last rubus cache for today and a great one to finish on. Thanks for all the caches that we have done today. No nanos, bisons or mint tins.

Another quick find this morning caching with friends Jeckleberryandtedd, Cathlud and charlibear10. Another very unique cache container too. Tftc
Out with TinkerTraveller, Cathlud, and my geokid CharliBear10 for a morning of caching. The cache was quickly spotted by CharliBear10 but she wasn't so keen to retrieve it. Another fantastic hide from the CO. Love the creativity and thought that has gone into each of the caches that we have done. TFTC.
Dad brought us out here. He had already found it on his own a while ago. He gave a us a few hints on the way and it was quickly found. Cool container.
Out with Omegaman1971 for a caching run to Mt Disappointment today and we went the back roads to grab a few cachers on the way. Another well hidden and themed cache found this morning on our way through, thanks again rubus for the cache.

With today been the last day off from work until xmas day I have, I was on a quest to hit 1000 before the end of the year. So Happy Pants and I hit the road for a day of caching.
Love the security measures on the container, no one's taking this one!!!

Was on a bit of a caching run with a couple of other members of U3A Seymour. We haven't been out for a few months (the call of the north was too strong for many of us). It was good to be out caching as a group again.
A good cache. Surprisingly, the cache was quite damp but we could still write in it.
Dropped off a trackable. Unfortunately it was not interstate ...

Our first caching run for a while. It felt good to be out with friends finding caches on a lovely warm day.

After taking a fellow geocacher on a little trip we found that log book is soaked.
Great cache, not sure about the accuracy of the co-ords as we were standing on top of it & it was saying we were still 12m away. Great find though and fantastic container.
Agree with the other logger, that the coordinates did seem a little out but the cache is easily located. Great and unique container.

Very cool cache. Found with treasureseeker75. Very tired by the end of our geocache day!
Traveling to northern Vic on my own today, so I had plenty of time to do some caching. I found this one. tftc.

Cool cache, watch out for roos and wombats around here! Heaps out tonight! Logbook wet. TFTC
Nice hide thanks for the cache found with lukie1987 log was a wet book but was new kind of hide
Having a brief visit to Melbourne, I dragged my muggle Mum out for a few caches before we headed out for lunch at the pub... This was our first find of the day after pulling up alongside GZ Initially the gizmo had me headed over the fence, but after having a quick think, I soon headed to the right spot where the rather unique container... I had a little trouble getting the container out, as my hands were wet & freezing cold but eventually I had the logbook in hand.
TFTC rubus [^] The inner cache was dry & in good nick.

Next along the way home today brought me to another familiar container at 17:50. Alas, this one had water in it, which I tried to empty out, but unfortunately the logbook has paid the price through being a bit damp. It can still be written in though but a CO check might be needed here.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks rubus.

We haven't been up (or down) this road for a while. There has been a clean up around GZ but the cache was still in place and secure, and quickly found at 16:05. TFTC

Awesome hide, copped a couple suss looks from passing cars while parked. It wasn't until driving further down the road I noticed a trailer load of dumped rubbish, so probably wasn't the best idea taking the van today lol. Yan Yean and the surrounding areas are so beautiful.
Cool cache that the kids loved finding

Love coming up this way. We used to visit before we discovered Geocaching, so know we have a reason to retun - wahoo. Inventive hide and well constructed, well done Rubus Cheers for the cache catch!
