2182. After needing to move on from one geocache, a DNF on a second and a third that took a fair amount to investigate how to get to GZ, it was great to have a straight forward and quick find. TFT(Tanekaha)C.
Labour weekend and we started the day by watching the Rugby World Cup final with the AB vs Argentina, where the AB won convincingly with 7 tries to none. After the game, we made our way north to Mangawhai. We decided to check out this track, which we had started back in 2020 but the weather turned on us and so we did not complete the walk. Today the track was very wet and muddy - would recommend future finders wait a couple of months for the track to dry up before doing this walk. We had previously logged a DNF here, so were pleased to make a quick find here of the decent sized cache, and turn our frown upside down. TFTC

Grabbed this one on the way down from the trig. Had to dig around a bit but got it in the end! Now to catch up with the rest of the (non-caching) group.

Great directions. Easy find. I forgot to bring a pen so I'll write in log next time. Log book is nice and dry. Beware wasps higher up the track.
This was our last find. After heading to the waterfall, we walked the lovely Botanical track then slogged up to the trig. Heading down our knees complained a lot so we were grateful for the stop here to sign the log. Then it’s back to the car and off to our accommodation for the night in Mangawhai. Thanks for the adventure.
Today was a geocaching day. Time to get some decent points on the board for Mt Kilimanjaro. First was a cito in Whangarei as I do like to support these regular events that Nick and Karen put on.
I then car pooled with 0B80B8 for the next part of the day. We grabbed a couple of caches in One Tree Point area for him then off to get the 2 Waipu multis for me. I'd been slowly accumulating information for them so today they were a quick park and grabs on the way.
This cache was the second on our next major target for the day - the six caches along the Tanekaha track. First we went up to the trig. We returned along the same track then headed up to the little waterfall from the track sign near the bridge. The big loop looked daunting and this seemed a gentler way to do the tracks. We spent 2 hours walking time and went up 340m in elevation. Not a bad workout for a 50 year old. As you say this caches was a quick find too which is great given the hike. Nice to walk a track I've never been to.
We had a great day and I earned 3750 points taking my total to 5425. Two more traditionals and I'll reach the peak. Thanks for all these caches in here

On a trip south of Whg with Lis's crew to try and get some numbers towards the peak souvenirs.
Despite living in Northland for over 60 years and enjoying the bush, this is one set of tracks I have never been to before, so thanks nodo for bringing me somewhere new.
A third of the way up and a nice quick find here in the hint location. TFTC

We returned to Tanekaha to explore both the Botanical amd Puriri trails. What a great hike! The view of the 3 waterfalls cascading on the Puriri track is neat. This cache was easy to find. Container looks new, big enuf to put trackabkes and a pen inside. its log bk also new and dry. First one to sign it. TFTC. My mobile couldnt get any reception thru out our hike which didnt able me to open my offline cache list. So wasnt able to find the caches along the Waterfalls track. Was really bummed out. I will go back with screenshots of the cache list with hints.

Coordinates changed to:
S 36° 4.584 E 174° 31.990

Original seems to have gone with track works. Replaced with large pill container in a new position.

I used Tuftys co-ordinates from an earlier log: S 36 04.585 E 174 31.997
Which took me close to the sign, and like the previous cachers I think the cache is missing. Probably removed when the sign was replaced?
A DNF for us today sadly

No luck here for us. There is a new sign approx 30m from coords. We didn’t want to go off the track to search for this as we are aware of kauri dieback in the area
Wow...this one doesn't get found often !
2 years ago according to paper log!
Was a bit of a steep climb
Think I'll leave the next two for now....as a muddy and tired from waterfall walk earlier!
Cheers nodo...great series!

On a cloudy day in Mangawhai we headed to this great track for some outdoors exercise and some cache hunting. Hints and GPS worked fine and cache was easily found. Log was quite empty considering the time this cache has been active. Log duly signed and we moved on to the next. TFTC and for bringing us to this track.
(1399) Found while walking the Bryderwyns and Tanekaha tracks today with SteeveB and Cache Hound. TFTC
Really enjoying this lovely bush track. added a tag I found while in Hawaii.. TFTC
Lots of Fantails encouraging us on our way. Great to see so much work in creating and maintaining these pathways. Thank you.
Made it to this point in no time at all. Thought I'd be to the top at the same pace. Silly @McArgister! Great walk so far. Lots of fantails tweeting me onwards! Easy find with the clue.
I found the coords to be a little out. My coords are S 36 04.585 E 174 31.997. But the hint was spot on so in the end the cache was found fairly easily.
Cheers for the cache.
It may be 1/3 up but this was the second find of the day along this track. Not surprised to see a blank log book after finding the first one blank. Great place for the boys of the team to go to and get out for a walk. Thanks for the parking co-ords, most useful. TFTC and another FTF
