2183. Lovely view and I was very happy that the trail was mostly dry today. TFTC(and a spot to rest).
Labour weekend and we started the day by watching the Rugby World Cup final with the AB vs Argentina, where the AB won convincingly with 7 tries to none. After the game, we made our way north to Mangawhai. We decided to check out this track, which we had started back in 2020 but the weather turned on us and so we did not complete the walk. Today the track was very wet and muddy - would recommend future finders wait a couple of months for the track to dry up before doing this walk. A quick find here by MrsJAG while waiting for MrJAG to catch up. TFTC

Rimuved the cache from its hiding spot after a bit of searching. Thanks for the placement ! All good here.

It took me a bit of a research - Google research - to figure out what was a Rimu Tree !
Made it way easier to find after identification

I think I wrote the wrong date in the cache. Nice place for a much needed breather!
Came across the lovely Botanical track. Then up the hill.
Needed a rest here. Quick find.

We walked from the waterfall along the Botanical Track to get to this track. What an enjoyable walk that was. Not too many ups and downs and stream crossings were easy as they were quite dry. Then we reached this track…. Oh dear, we should have done this first as it was all uphill and I didn’t have much fuel left in the tank so we stopped at some steps for lunch. Once we were fed and watered we continued up and then had a well earned rest on the seat. The cache was an easy find and we sat and admired the view after signing the log
Today was a geocaching day. Time to get some decent points on the board for Mt Kilimanjaro. First was a cito in Whangarei as I do like to support these regular events that Nick and Karen put on.
I then car pooled with 0B80B8 for the next part of the day. We grabbed a couple of caches in One Tree Point area for him then off to get the 2 Waipu multis for me. I'd been slowly accumulating information for them so today they were a quick park and grabs on the way.
This cache was the third on our next major target for the day - the six caches along the Tanekaha track. First we went up to the trig. We returned along the same track then headed up to the little waterfall from the track sign near the bridge. The big loop looked daunting and this seemed a gentler way to do the tracks. We spent 2 hours walking time and went up 340m in elevation. Not a bad workout for a 50 year old. As you say the cache too was a quick find once I'd got my breath back. I did enjoy the seat here. The last 30m I was really, really wanting a rest. Nice to walk a track I've never been to.
We had a great day and I earned 3750 points taking my total to 5425. Two more traditionals and I'll reach the peak. Thanks for all these caches in here

On a trip south of Whg with Lis's crew to try and get some numbers towards the peak souvenirs.
Despite living in Northland for over 60 years and enjoying the bush, this is one set of tracks I have never been to before, so thanks nodo for bringing me somewhere new.
Two thirds up now and time for a breather and another cache. TFTC

Made the climb today to replace two caches and checked here on the way. All good and in place where it should be.
On a cloudy day in Mangawhai we headed to this great track for some outdoors exercise and some cache hunting. Hints and GPS worked fine and cache was easily found. Log was quite empty considering the time this cache has been active. Log duly signed but the 6yr old Miss Davieland had reached her limit so we returned back the way we came. TFTC and for bringing us to this track.
(1398) Found while walking the Bryderwyns and Tanekaha tracks today with SteeveB and Cache Hound. TFTC
Brought my granddaughter up for a walk to make sure this cache is still in place. And it is fine. Just where it should be, so all is well. Went on to the top just for the fun of it.
Had a decent poke around with my walking stick but could not find the cache; perhaps I misinterpreted the clue... Lovely spot to stop & admire the view. there was a lot of chopped gorse on the side of the track opposite. I realised too late I have written the wrong date in the physical logbooks for my finds today; oops - time warp!
Going much slower by this point. Very glad for this spot to take a breather, a drink, a photo and log my 50TH FIND! Been given a few frights by startled wood pigeons on the way! Great view from here.
Now it was a bit of a workout to get up to this one. I had plenty of opportunities to stop and admire the bush on this track. Nice views over Mangawhai. Now, onward and upward.
Cheers for the cache.
Two thirds up and the third find along this track. Great day for a walk and the bonus of 4 FTF's was great. Huge thank you for placing these caches which was a place we had never been to before.
