Out with weredunn4 picking up a few caches in the Tailem Bend / Karoonda area.A quick find stamp and return here todayTFTC
Heading to Karoonda and surrounds for some geocaching. My first visit to this area so huge amounts of unfound caches waiting for me.
A large assortment of AMP, Wandering Heros and independent caches tackled. The caches found were selectively chosen either to fill missing cells in my 360 degrees from home grid (5 times around) or due to favourite points.
Lots of different cache owners meant lots of different cache containers many with unique themes which made the day very enjoyable.
Thanks for the cache SEMIK.

Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.
Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.
Another JAMS day was organised to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail (JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre plus tallbikestan and BratKat). We started the day with rain and hail as we drove through the hills towards Tailem Bend but by the time we started the series we just had a couple of light showers and then for the rest of the day it was fine although we had strong cool winds.
That didn't stop us though, and we had a fun day finding around 300 caches plus an Adventure Lab in Karoonda. We had come prepared with lots of spare containers and replaced a heap of broken containers and sometimes logbooks. We managed to get to Sandalwood where we called it a day, so now have plans to come back and completed the last of the series.
This was my first visit out here since 2016 and by the end of the day I had 197 finds plus the Adventure Lab which I was pretty happy about.
Thanks for the cache SEMIK.

Went out this morning to tidy my finds on this trail getting the one's I missed previously usually by not stoping in time and ending up some 200m past it up the road somewhere and with few opportunities to turn around it was onto the next one and come back another day, and also hopefully find some DNF's from previous trips. this cache and log in good condition.TYFTC
Wandering home after the JLWE fun. Cache is in good condition. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.
I was hoping to collect quite a few of this series but was deterred by the possibility of snakes. I collected a few in Tailem and then headed east along the wandering heroes, starting at where I had left off on my last trip.
Thanks SEMIK for placing this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment.

Still to meet rediguana, and missing Semik from the local scene.

Tackling another section of the Wandering Heroes series today with goingplaces2. Had a lot of fun and found all caches that were on the list. Logs signed, all replaced as found. TFTC.
The Wandering Heroes trail keeps on wandering and so do we, along with ilook4geo. Most of the caches we did today were in acceptable condition, although there were still a couple where containers need to be replaced and a few logs that also need to be renewed. As is normal, each log had our visit noted by the addition of two lots of initials, being GP2 and ilg.
Our thanks go to SEMIK for adding to this trail and to the fun of the game.

I had planned a big few days of caching in SA so I left work on a Tuesday evening and hit the road from Melbourne. This was my third full day of caching and the Wandering Heroes caches (and assorted others nearby) were on my target list. It was a blisteringly hot day (felt hotter than the 39C recorded on my car!) and the dry and dusty conditions made it hard going at times. My first task having left where I was staying overnight in Murray Bridge was to head to the Geopets series. Once I was done there I headed on to the Wandering Heroes and others along that route. Many took me longer than expected with different containers, hide styles and some further off the road. In the end I had to adjust my expectation of finds for the day before I headed north to where I was staying overnight. Thanks to SEMIK for this cache and to all COs for placing and maintaining this remarkable series. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
It's that time of the year again !!
Time for a wander along this trail of Geocaching Heroes
It always amazes me how many of the cacher's names I have heard of before
The name "rediguana" is no exception

A day out with GoodLook on a mission to do as much of the wandering heroes series.
We found 150 along the way till we had to pull the pin and head home. Happy to find my 4000th at the last one. TFTC for all the CO for placing the caches. Some of the caches are in poor condition others are fantastic hides. We stamped all the caches with the fabulous randoms stamp

Came back again to catch up more Wandering Heroes from yesterday before heading to Adelaide from Melbourne for 10 days holidays. Found it. TFTC !!
I was on my way to Barmera, with a bit of time on my hands as planned lol, so I was going to find some interesting caches along the way and a few of the power trail caches. The rain stopped, which was a bonus. At some point I decided to stop only for the large ones, otherwise I would never make it to my destination for the night! TFTC!!
Found whilst on the Fabulously Random caching trip [^] Feathertop and I have spent the last 10 days together from St Arnaud to the Yorke Peninsula, Balaklava and all the way to Murray Bridge and Karoonda.
Today it was sunny, windy, raining and we even got pelted with hail several time whilst we focussed on the GEOPETS series - LOVED IT!, the nearby fantastic OTD series, a number of Wandering Heroes and some random caches - I was exhausted by the time I rolled into bed, but what a fantastic day we had.
Please note: our combined team name today was "Fabulous Randoms" and that is how the 'millions' of log books have been stamped (bar a few with our actual caching names in them).
Thanks so much for the cache!

What a difference a day makes!
Yesterday it was hot and windy, today cloudy skies rain and hail!
Goodlook and I made our way to do about 40 of the Wandering Heroes caches that have cropped up since my last visit up here about 3 years ago.
Some of the containers are showing their age others endure well.
Still mindful of widlife when I spotted an enourmous dead snake beside the road later on.
Thanks to all the cache owners who continue to populate this trail

Day 5 of our SA jaunt had us targeting the Wandering Heroes series and anything else that took our fancy [^]. We camped last night at Tailem Bend and we are unsure how far todays travels will take us
I had been eyeing off an interstate trip for some time now and made plans to head to SA to power through the geoart trails over here . I roped in my geo buddy Krabiboy to join me and we set about solving [?] caches and highlighting Jasmer caches that aren't available over in WA. Our adventure took us from the CBD over to the Yorke Peninsula and then back across to the Murray Bridge area . We were relentless in chasing down the finds and picked up as many as we could in the week that we had available. Due to the park and grab nature of our visit, the log books which weren't able to accommodate the ink stamp we had made were signed with the initials 'jk'! Fave points will be awarded for those caches which are considered awesome
A massive thanks here to SEMIK for placing this cache here and for tempting us to venture over to this area. Cheers!

Oh wow, what a trail ! The WEEO and I flew down from Canberra to cache this trail and around MB and my wonderful Auntie put us up (future cacher there too ). We made it all the way to Loxton in 2 days but were shagged by the end. The caches were mostly fab and gave us a laugh along the way.

What a great trail, the weather is fine, the birds are singing and we are "in the groove". Thanks to all the cachers who put this trail together, we are having a ball and have not missed a beat, so far. 3-Kings and I have come all the way from NSW to experience this trail and it was well worth it. After a few months of planning, and trial runs I finally attempted and complete my goal of doing a 24 hour SOLO cache run!!!
One Man, One Day, 441 caches found!
I booked two nights at Murray bridge and arrived at 8:00 pm. Attempted without success to sleep until 11:30 pm then got up and went to the location of the first cache. As the clock turned to midnight I began.
Speed through the Oz Mega 2014 Trail with only a handful of DNFs, then picked a few up along the highway until I got to the GeoPets trail.
After this I cut through to Wandering Heroes and completed up to the "OTS: May" trail. Went along this and came back into Tailem Bend for lunch and fuel and few in town. Was beginning to get weary but proceeded back to where I left off in the Wandering Heroes.
From here on in I just completed as many of these as I could up through Karoonda in the hot hot mid 30's day until midnight stuck a few kms east of town.
441 finds was the total count and now I just had to drive back to Murray Bridge. Easier said then done after being awake for practically 40 hours. Hit the hotel pillow at 1:20 am and was out within seconds.
Thanks for all the wonderful caches around this area, and sorry for generic logs.

I found this cache today as number 33 of 161 in company of Cold Freeze on our Karoonda Road Run III. Our first run back in 2008 was well before Wandering Heroes and yielded just 14 caches along the entire road and our caching figures were in the 2,000's back then. Our second run in 2012 brought us 160 caches where we started at Loxton and continued caching all the way past Karoonda to just before the Murray Bridge - Tailem Bend Junction. From there, we headed into Tailem Bend for Dinner and continued back from there for a few extra caches before giving up about an hour before dark. Our caching numbers were in the 5,000s at that time. Today, with caching numbers now in the 8,000s, we picked up at the point we had left off last time near the Murray Bridge - Tailem Bend Junction and headed south with the aim of finishing off all of these caches then caching our way back towards Loxton. I had not counted the caches in this section before leaving home and I thought that there were probably about 80 caches there. Once we got them all done, we found that there were just over 140 left in that area so we didn't get much past Karoonda on the way back after all. A great day though nonetheless and there looks to be at least one more full caching day to come at some stage. Thanks to all cache placers in this series today from D B-A.
On a WH mission today to try to get to 100 caches for the day. Stupidly I forgot sunscreen so was getting scorched along the journey. Drank about 5 litres of water and found 103 caches. If I'd had a co-driver could have found alot more but alas not he was harvesting. Enjoyed listening to the cds I got for Christmas on the 5 hour return trip to get to/from Tailem Bend from Naracoorte. TFTC and apologies for the generic logs.
First day of holidays so I thought I might knock a few more of this series on the head. TFTC

We arrived in Tailem Bend about 7.30 a.m. to make a start on the Wandering Heroes trail in the hope of getting 100 per day for two days. Our first day was tiring with a fair bit of bush bashing to do to get caches.
We got caught in quite a few showers of rain and spent a long time on the road, but managed a comfortable tally for the day.
Thanks to all who placed and maintained caches here for this great 'adventure trail'. Excuse my generic logs, but with so many to do, individual logs are a bit past me tonight.

Had a fantastic day folling heroes.
Only saw one cache that had eclipse tins in it.
over 100 finds and mints on my last cache of the day.
This must be some sort of record for me.
Loved driving beside the track as I didnt like some of those roadside stops with the trucks thundering past.
A great day out and in the afternoon we headed to Loxton Hotel for the night.

Out for yet another weekend of hanging out and caching with Sylken. The plan for this weekend was to take another crack at the Wandering Heroes power trail (when we made our first attempt in January 2012 we foolishly thought we might tackle the whole thing in one day!! Lol! The series was only abut 160 at that time...) When the temp is 35C, that seems rather unrealistic... It was 35C the first time we attempted this series, and 35C again today... it seems that we're starting to make a habit of hot caching expeditions. But now the powertrail has upwards of 300 in it, I think anyone would be hard pressed to bag that many in one day!
We still didn't manage to complete the trail, so we'll just have to see if we can find another 35C day to get the rest...
Thanks you to all the cache owners for their recognition of fellow cachers, and their efforts in hiding and maintaining the series. An honourable mention to CPWanderer who started this whole lark off in the first place

We are currently staying in Murray Bridge for a few weeks attempting some of the many caches available in the area. Geodaughter KAROPI joined us here for a second run at the Wandering Heroes series....our first was in January 2012. The series has expanded somewhat since then so we had endless opportunities
We finished the day with 114 finds and not a single DNF. Some caches are particularly inventive and a great tribute to the teams they are honouring. It is so nice to do a big power trail and have various types of hides....I guess the benefit of having lots of different CO's
As usual with power trails we too are writing a generic log, just adding a few extra words to caches that needed extra comments. That however doesn't detract from the gratitude we feel for all the CO's that have hidden caches along this trail....thank you one and all.
Many thanks again SEMIK[^][^][^]

[red]Find #1482[/red]
A quick and easy find today for us. Stamped and returned as found.
We had planned a family geo trip a few weeks ago and I left it up to the geo wife to decide where she wanted to go. Murray Bridge was one of three places to visit. Lucky she decided on this area, so we could try for 200+ in a day [^] Sometimes the parking was very difficult being double white lines and plenty of passing cars, having a companion to drive / swap with made this series that little bit easier. It was a very hot day & plenty of hours were spent in the car with much water needed. We found some great containers & loved the idea of this series. Now to rest the wheels....
[blue]Thanks for this cache, Semik & to everyone for the series TNLN[/blue]

Lucky she decided on this area, so we could try for 200+ in a day [^] Sometimes the parking was very difficult being double white lines and plenty of passing cars, having a companion to drive / swap with made this series that little bit easier. It was a very hot day & plenty of hours were spent in the car with much water needed. We found some great containers & loved the idea of this series. Now to rest the wheels....
[blue]Thanks for this cache, Semik & to everyone for the series TNLN[/blue]
Out on this beautiful day to continue our quest to complete this great series of geocaches. Found and signed as Pem kids who consist of Braveheart17, Lozanger and Puppytail6. Left a PEG if convenient which equates to Pembroke Elite Geocachers!! Thanks to all those who make the effort to put these geos out here. Much appreciated.
Out for the weekend with Freddo, Astro & Team Waldron
This was one of the many fun caches we found over the two days of glorious sunshine and many kilometers [^]
Cheers & TFTH

[center]7901. [green] Apologies to all the hiders, many of which have gone to great lengths/effort to theme their tribute caches as a true homage to the recipient of such a worthy tribute, for the generic log. I have avoided doing copy and paste logs as long as I could but when you end up doing over 800 in six days and covering (very) conservatively 1700kms. (Winglen can most likely update that).
Congratulations to all the recipients for being worthy of a tribute. (McPhan and Winglen are very open to accepting a cache in this trail..... )
A fun second run along this trail which was a lot less tiring that the first foray where we whipped up over 270 for the day. Today we managed a 201 cache day - hence the genericism.
Thanks for the cache [blue]SEMIK[/blue] and Halswell[/green][/center]

Found this whilst on a caching run with McPhan to SA, leaving our 'McWin' stamp as we went. This was unfinished business for us, having passed through here last year and missing the Mega this year.
A somewhat generic log for these, sorry, though the caches were certainly not generic. Definitely a lot of effort and imagination gone into these tributes, and only a few DNFs for us.
Thanks SEMIK for the cache.

The Geo family was out for the Queens Birthday weekend and remained in the area overnight. What a brilliant series and a real credit to South Australia – very inspirational. We will have to come back again to complete this wonderful series.
We were out with the geofamily staying overnight at a motel in Tailem Bend. We were out for a total of two days nonstop geocaching. We used the geomobile and our bikes cycling 10km up the freeway! I know we are crazy! TFTC
Found It!
I don't think I've meet rediguana yet - Must be time I went on a holiday to New Zealand!

On the way from Melbourne to Adelaide the long way and finding a few caches along the way. This was a selected few and it was fun. Had to find this cache as I am from NZ and rediguana is very well known to us.TFTC

One of my challenges I set myself for my trip to the SA MEGA was to see how many caches I could find in 24 hours.
Today was the day. I parked the car the night before out at the furtherest point of the caches of the OZ MEGA 2014 and slept the night there with the alarm set for just before midnight.
My aim was to complete the OZ MEGA 2014 caches then start along the Wandering Heros series and see how far I got.
At midnight I started. With no one else on the roads I moved quickly along each of the roads looking for those little 'suspicious piles of stones'. By 6 am I had just the arrow head to go. I stopped the car and changed clothes as I was getting hot in the thermals. ... and the car would not start. 2 hours later the RAA turned up and said I had a flat battery. [?] [?] [?]
Found the remaining caches (except the couple that are now missing) and headed south for the Wandering Heros series finding the odd one along the road.[^]
The Wandering Hero series are different containers at different distances from the road so they were a little trickier to find at times and my find rate slowed down a little. Slowly the day continued and my count continued to grow, passing 200 and 300. Just after 7:30pm I passed 400 caches and I eventually stopped at 8pm exhausted just before Mindarie.
20 hours and just over 400 caches.
Apologies for the cut and paste logs.

After spending one night at Tailem Bend I was then off to finish the Wandering Heroes Series. Thanks to all who put the caches out to honour the heroes. Some of the containers are brilliantly created.

Found with Tassiegirl13.
We'd attended the SA Oz Mega Event and this was our last day caching in the area.
With everything done around the event we headed up along the Wandering Hero's Power Trail to add a few more to our tally.

Off we go again! This time Rapidlywild and I decided to tackle the Wandering Heroes caches after completing the Oz Mega Signal power trail-insane! [:O)]
Once again Rapidlywild was the driver and I was the runner [:O)] Most of the caches were nice, quick finds although several of them were a little bit elusive to us in the dark so RW joined in for the search
I enjoyed the variety of the hides along the way; several were quite creative! All up for the day we totalled 204 finds and ended with a 1am finish Absolutely geobuggered after that! lol!
Thanks to all the CO’s for placing their caches in this fantastic series!
