This cache is proving difficult to remain where it should be.. replacements are disappearing and although it is such an interesting place to visit this particular spot is not proving viable. Freeing up the area for another cache if anyone wants to place one
This was one of our to-do caches while in the area. having completed part of the nearby trail in the park we had timed it so that we could get to this one as the tide was going out. That all worked well, though did take us nearly an hour to get to GZ
Once there we had a good look round and no luck in finding the cache - we also had a good look round the tunnels and room, logged as a find with the Co's kind permission.

Loved the walk and the tunnels were very cool although very terrifying as I went against good advice and went alone. I was aware of the limited daylight left so it was a quick rush look. Will go again with support and hopefully will have better luck. Took me about 45 min there and 35 min back
(Tide had gone out) at a fast pace.

Absolutely loved walking this bit of coast, nobody else around. Took 35mins one way from Army Bay leaving at half low tide. Had a 20min search at GZ but no luck finding the cache. The return trip seemed quicker but about the same time. Some great views, even through several rain showers.

We haven't been along this coast before. Read prior logs carefully and followed the description. We're sure we were looking in the new place. Left a new cache. Same description but it is a small screw top jar with black camo tied to the curry grass. We left the Self Contained Campground and got to Pink Beach about 3:30 only 2 hours after high tide. Way too early to start but we took it very slow and never ground to a stop. Cache by 5 and back to Army Bay and to the van by 6:30. Thanks for the adventure. NINO TFTC
Heading to Shakespear soon.....but won't try this as not found for 2 years 2 months !
Needs a check up !

This was cool, nice long walk too.
Second visit this week for me but no good, couldn't find the cache. So visited with BiffNZ today hoping we could find cache, no joy. I see the last visit was a while ago so maybe cache has been muggled again? We followed the clue and checked back in log for hints too. Oh well would love to know if this is still active so we can return and try again! Cheers

Windy day meant I had a downhill jaunt to the GZ. Set off just before low tide as I had a late start after reading the Saturday paper. Passed a couple of divers who must be keen in today's weather.
Arriving at the site, I got a couple photos and had a good look around. Near spot!
I found both caches - the one that had been lost and the new one, although it was completely soaked. Tried to dry it out, and signed both logs.

Found it ! Well we found the Cache put here by 'meet balls' back on 6.2.13. Its still there !!, at the South End, outside the tunnels. Unlike the other hides, which are all gone-again. No Cache outside the Northern Bunker or North-East Bunker, but a lot of obvious hidey holes that match previous descriptions. Spend a lot of time looking around the Bunkers & Zombie Room - fun & a bit scary !!
A Hint for the 'meet balls' cache would be: Outside & up.
I have replaced the loo paper log with a paper log & put it into a white tube with lid.
Thanks for bringing us here This was a great cache for our 200th !!!!!!!

GPS put me out below the high tide mark, so used the clue and scrambled up to the bunker but could not find it.
Been on my list to revisit after the original DNF. Great morning for a rock run and a cache to tick off #1999. Quickly spied the obvious hiding place based on the hint but then after reading the last log I realised it was now rehidden in a new spot without a current hint. Spent a few minutes scrambling around and in the end it was closer than I thought.
Worth noting for the next finder that if you use a large metal object to guide your hunt you will meet with success.
Current location is Zombie free as its outside but its well worth poking inside and then heading up the stairs if you dare...

Enjoyed our walk out here and Mrs Sp8 quickly spotted the cache sitting in the middle of the bunker. Went to re-hide as per the clue and found a resident Little Blue penguin in the hiding spot so found another hiding place for the cache and have advised the owner.

It is nice that this cache is back up and running as it is a fantastic spot to visit. Had fun exploring the tunnels to both gun emplacements. I knew to bring a torch with me after my previous visit. The previous visitor left the cache very exposed. Rehid it a lot better.
Cheers for the cache.
Don't know if I can claim a FTF as its a relocated cache. This was a great walk, when I arrived at GZ the cache, a shiny new Tupperware with notebook and pens was out in the open. After signing I went to replace the cache in the hole but was face to face with sheltering bird, who had obviously dragged it out. Placed it to the side of the hole and covered it but unsure of how long that will last. TFTC
Cache has been moved to new location.
Hopefully less visible to "Thief's" here so should last longer

Cache has been muggled countless times. regardless of where I hide the cache
Am working on making it a "Digital cache"
Not sure if its allowed to be like that on geocaching
But I feel as if this area should still be advertised as live as its a awesome spot to visit.

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

After a 40 minute hike out it was disappointing to find the cupboard bare. I phoned the only finder and they confirmed where the cache should be, only it wasn't. There was an opened plastic container (25 x 25 x 10 cm) with a blue lid in the room but this was empty - possible cache container?????
Went to find on Sat. On the drive out to Shakespeare saw the navy boat out on the northen coast but thought nothing of it. Walked out to Pink bay and up the shore line. Upon rounding the point saw a flag flying but not sure if they were training. Proceeded to bunker anyway as its such a way to turn around at.
No luck finding the cache. I'm guessing the whoever put the camping gear there has removed or destroyed it?? In case anyone else goes out there and has no luck we decided to place a sympathy cache out there. Its stored in a red box above the bunker. Coordinated are listed below. The log is loo paper. Pretty awesome place out there regardless, had no idea it was there cheers

This one has been on my list for a while. Always enjoy the coastline for a run and didnt realise there were zombies behind the concrete bunkers. Was a cracking day and were on a paddle around the end of the peninsula at high tide. BG038 had his phone with cgeo loaded so was keen to stop when i mention the chance to find a zombie or two. The phone came in handy as a torch in the tunnels and we eased into the zombie room slowly. Lots of extra stuff strewn about the place and found a stash of camping gear behind the inner walls. Suspect this is all recently placed here and unfortunately no sign of the cache anywhere.
Never mind we enjoyed the adventure and still even gets a fav point for the fun!

Checked out the tides before attempting this one and figured 3 hours before low tide would give us lots of time and make for a diverse walk there are back. We were not disappointed. Hugged the coastline on the way there and after a lovely walk spotted our goal. Was all prepared with a torch which turns out was left in the car so the boys of the team volunteered to go using the light from the GPS. Apparently it made for an interesting excursion in the tunnels but the cache was located. Thanks for the family adventure and we had a great time exploring the rock pools on the way back. Fav for a cache that's a little bit different, takes a bit of effort and a great excuse to get out and enjoy our beautiful coastline
