No luck here - searched for about an hour, even a PAF and PACO was utilised with no joy.

04-Nov-21
Wshoeii , Storeyteller and myself spent an hour looking in the rain. And a good diameter around gz. But no luck. I would suggest with the long list of dnfs that it may need to be checked upon. Hope to revisit soon

No luck second time round.

Out in the snow for a bit a caching! Didn’t find a sausage. I wonder … it’s been almost 3 years since the cache was last seen. Could it have been muggled by a phantom logger?

25-Jan-21
Looked for 25 mins. Got stumped. Could spend 2.5 hrs here. To muggy today after last night's thunder storm. Another time, maybe.

️ was really looking forward to finding this one.

After a wet and windy night, an early morning start. Beautiful skies this early, but still windy, loved all the little walks to the caches and was home for breakfast.

I recall thinking about looking for this cache after a day out in Fortress canyon, and finding the second waypoint of Walls Galore, but expecting a micro turned me off.
Today I was in the area for an event and had the time to grab a few more finds. I ended up walking up from the Minnehaha trail and as I reached gz there were a couple of mountain bikers ready to go for a ride after driving right up to the logs. I took a seat until they left before having a look.
With some faith in my GPSr leading me true I found the cache easily but took a bit of force to open it.
Thanks for the cache.

27-May-17
Not this one, not this one, this one, got it. Once we found the right dirt road we reached GZ quite quickly, however it took frazeydaze longer to open the cache than finding it. TFTC All Strung Out.

27-May-17
The fourth of 7 caches on oldmorty's list for today. A lovely sunny day in the Blue Mountains. We attempted to get as close as we could to this cache but had to turn back on several dirt roads before we found the right one. Once at GZ oldmorty headed to the obvious but I headed off in a slightly different direction. Easy find but took some strength to open the container. TFTC All Strung Out. Obviously not planning to return too often.

4/10/16. 7:59 AM. Cache #4262.
3rd of 6 finds (& 2 DNFs) in Leura this morning.

I'd just had 2 DNFs in a row, at "Leura Railway Alex Cafe" and "Leura Ruins" and was frustrated with town micros, so I decided to head bush to the north of town, in search of bigger boxes. This one was next on my route.

After parking, I walked over to what I assumed was the correct GZ and proceeded to peek inside, under, over, around. After a few minutes, I was unsure, but then checked and saw that GZ was possibly a few metres over. And then sure enough I realised that I had made the wrong assumption before. Cache in hand! Logs and logs and logs but someone has made things too easy by writing on the bags. After signing, I replaced everything as found and then went for a bit of a drive to my next target, "Mt. Hay Roadside". TFTC.

I really liked having a go at this one. It helped that we worked as a team so we have a few different approaches happening at once.

03-Oct-16
Don't believe everything you read in "logs"

03-Oct-16
Picking up a few caches in the mountains this weekend and this one had me intrigued. I wasn't sure if this was something one could drive to or was only accessible by walking but as it happens we were able to drive right up to the GZ. The team piled out of the car and had that "ah ha" moment when we saw what was there. So off we went, looking all over, making sure not to bother any potential residents. But then the geosenses kicked in and I thought that there must have been something else to this mystery. I told the team to try another option and yep, there it was! That was a fun one, worth a favourite point. Thanks for the cache All Strung Out, well done.

03-Oct-16
Lots of clever things happening with this cache, glad I had help with the search.

Only 6 logs left. Majority of logs have been moved but Walk There and I found it close nearby.

Not too many logs there now. I think it has moved a bit but still some fun. TFTC.

Looking at the ratings, I thought this one might be difficult. But we spotted it instantly. I will admit that getting the container open was difficult, especially as I was nursing a crushed finger thanks to an earlier cache. But a little force and a little teeth gritting got us there.

Thanks Smile

24-Sep-15
You guys!! So many logs... Tftc!

14-Sep-15
Took me quite a while (I'm happy to admit). And a d4 should too. But all those 'easy peasy' logs were frustrating! Smile

Anyway, won't give a hint, but in the end I looked the right way, from the right spot, and saw what I needed to see.

12-Sep-15
Found it !

12-Sep-15
Hahaha of course it was the last log I checked. Also, I swapped for a charm that I let up at mt hay, though that was pretty neat.

So many LOGs.

Found it, collected trackable. Off to find it a new location.

01-Feb-15
After a quick trip to Katoomba Tip, I thought I'd grab this one. Having never been in this area before I was impressed by the myriad of tracks.

This took me a few minutes, I had to wait for a couple of groups of muggles to pass while I was looking. Once I saw it, I knew what it was straight away.

Thanks for the cache! Found at 10:45.

This is a great place, I'll have to come back with my bike, some of the tracks even look like I could tackle them. Good place foe geodogs too. Tftc

I searched and searched. When I was about to give up I found it. A great cache and a favorite. Many thanks!

31-May-14
I know these tracks around here like the back of my hand. As soon as I saw the name of the cache I knew exactly where it was.

31-May-14
Let's find the cache before we park and ride the trails! No need, the usual parking spot is a GZ.

12-May-14
Having some degree of connection with this mt bike track I had to come past and find.
Quick find on a beautiful autumn evening.

This one was driving me mad, so much so that I picked up a rock and heaved it away from my indicated GZ in disgust. Guess where I eventually found the cache? That's right, where the rock landed Smile

All is not what it seems here.....

16-Dec-13
Driving by with pjmpjm when he asked if I had found this one so he stopped and said look for the obvious spot where you would hide a cache!
So I did and walked straight to the right spot.
Thanks for the cache.

We all find the clues but we didn't find it Sad it is not easy

Reperio at 1545.

In reading the cache description on the way here, and having found the exact same cache nearby not so long long ago...I knew what to expect when I arrived. Found the cache, signed the log book.

I expected it to be much harder to find the cache, but we found it almost instantly.

Quite an adventure just getting to this one but I eventually made it.
Located the cache pretty easy and did what needed to be done.
There was a paper sign on a tree nearby saying a phone had been found and had a contact number on it, So if anyone lost a phone get in touch with me for the finders number.

The WaywardWoman wanted to find a cache this morning, despite the gloomy weather. She suggested Katoomba. I took a look at the log history of this cache and felt even gloomier.

We drove up the mountain. The fog settled and soon it was hard to distinguish anything more than the tail lights of the cars ahead of us. This was expedition was looking sillier by the moment.

We pulled off the highway and followed the GPS onto a dirt road, and soon saw the "haystacks" that Webguy had mentioned. I stood for about a minute to let the GPS settle, since the weather wasn't ideal, and then I found the cache in the first place I looked! Very sneaky yet very simple, as I'm sure those who have found it will agree.

Thanks All Strung Out

#1867- It is a cold, wet, miserable day in the mountains. I should be taking the chance to do some of the oodles of marking I have to do, but the weather had made my demeanor less than favourable (especially after a day of housework yesterday). I needed a cache! So despite the rain falling down, bikerbuddy and I set off for Katoomba with another in our sights. He insisted on checking this one out first and, lucky we did. The rain had stopped and he found it within a minute. Use the force Luke! And he did. Thanks for getting us out and about and adding to my ever slowing cache finds for the year.

Went back with whitemushroom and I thought we had no chance of finding this cache. I looked in all the same places. Must of been where I was looking that made whiteroom see something not quite right and bingo I couldn't believe it. Amazing what a little bit of extra light called the sun can do. TFTC.

After a misguidance with bisygisy, redirection and a rutted track we were at the GZ. Magellan honed within a 'metre' but a seek, a loggerheads scratching (in more ways than one!) a ponder and reseek, reseek, reseek ... then a glimmer of sunlight on the unusual. Do this catch at night at your peril (and sanity).

Good and thoughtful crafting of this cache, All Strung Out. Thank You Smile

A quick lunchtime DNF!

I shall return, hopefully with clues!?!

14-Mar-13
Well I returned and gave it another half an hour. No luck.

So, I put in a Phone-a-Friend for a clue for what was appearing to be a Difficulty 5 cache. A clue, a simple clue, telling me that I was caching with a GPS and not just trying to find someting hidden.

Of course, then it was a Difficulty 1 cache!?!

TNLNSL. TFTC.

Never been into this area before, parked next to the haystack and started to look, 4 pairs of eyes, much rain later and we gave up.

Another time perhaps.

What the. Four torches looking everywhere. In, out, above, below, crawling in between I even saw. Who knows when I'll ever be back to this one.

Very sorry All Strung Out about the hints, and can only blame it on senility.
Have just returned from overseas and was terribly excited to be caching again and did not read the introduction correctly. My sincere apologies.

2pm. Daylight again (in a dim, gray sort of way) with a nice, light to moderate cool rain. Occasionally the rain actually degenerated into a kind of drizzle or heavy mist.

Fortunately, the overnight temperature of 9 degrees positively shot up to a summerly 14 degrees. And the fog had partly dissapated.

Obviously, with such a change for the better in overall geocaching conditions, I had to make a third attempt at finding this one. I felt so lucky that I even brought along Mrs. pjmpjm for the sheer enjoyment of the event.

Of course, I now know this specific area of North Leura so well that I never want to come back here again, as long as I live. But a smilie is a smilie, especially when it's sitting right under your nose . . .

I suppose an hour went by. I haven't got much to say about that. The moderate rain became somewhat heavier. Mrs. pjmpjm announced that it was NFAM and went back and sat in the car.

Then came one of those magic moments, that I hope most of you have had once in a while . . .

All that time spent maneuvering in tight places with my tiny torch paid off in a way I never expected!

Cache container and contents were dry and in good condition. TNLNSL. I resisted the strong urge to pound everything flat, with the sledge hammer I always carry in the GeoBuru2. (Just joking.)

A truly classic type of hide, about which I will say nothing more.

Better hurry up and look for this one . . . winter is coming and the weather could get quite bad around this part of the Blue Mountains.

I guess geocaching really IS fun, after all . . .

This was a tricky cache and took some time to find.

Enjoyed this cache very much, thank you all strung out.

11am. Daylight now (sort of) with a nice, steady cold rain.

Fortunately, the overnight temperature of 9 degrees had risen to a relatively balmy 11 degrees.

I now know this specific area North Leura much better than I would ever care to know it, and am still not very pleased.

Anyhow, after about an hour and a half the iPhone still hadn't rung, so I went home nevertheless, wet and muddy and miserable . . .

Ain't geocaching fun?

01-Mar-13
Sorry for the prior DNF's ....I did a quick afternoon Cache check ...... all Fine and Dry
Will return to check Coords tomorrow, as it seems they may be out a little but not much at all.

Reluctant to give another clue at this stage, though may reword current clue.

10pm. Pitch dark with a nice, steady cold rain.

Fortunately, the temperatures on the last day of summer were up to a relatively balmy 12 degrees. It was colder in Leura a week or so ago, and we had the fire going in the fireplace down on Sublime Point.

I knew this general area North Leura, and the 'road' with the elegant name, so drove straight to it. But what I saw at GZ, through the fog and mist, didn't please me very much.

So much for the 'roadside' hide . . .

Anyhow, after about 35 minutes the iPhone rang and it was Mrs. pjmpjm telling me the obvious. I won't go into detail as to what transpired in that half hour.

Well, never let it be said I don't try to uphold the 'honour' of upper mountains geocaching . . .

Maybe some daylight and a general drying out will make things a bit easier. But I doubt it!
