Cool place for a cache. Unfortunately the cache itself had seen better days. The box and log are wet. The box is also starting to rot and part of the theme has broken off. I think the owner may need to repair this a one soon for the full effect to continue.
Another day, another walk for the dog, and another cache. Almost had a bit of trouble giving the pirate a proper drink but managed on my own.
Oh ho... a tReasRe map too! The buRied tReasRe was shoRtly found, aye and the log monickeRed. Aye, that be suRely a good find. aR be thanking ya’ fo’ the cache

After arriving at GZ, I quickly realised that I did not have the required equipment to retrieve the cache from the Pirate, but luckily I could improvise with a piece of trash lying around and soon I got the cache in hand! Very nicely made, but the log is quite damp, although there is room on the waterproof log. Thanks for bringing me out here this morning, TFTC.
Very cool cache and treasure!
Will bring my grandsons here over summer I hope..
( Paper is full and disintegrating...)
Cool pirates chest! A lot of work has gone into this hide! (Although outer container letting in a bit of water..)
Up where I parked my car I saw an abandoned tractor in the bushes which is nearly overgrown ...what a waste...

This is really fucking hard, pretend youre the size of a cat then the clues should match up.
I helped find this cache on our North Island family holiday. We went to some museums, visited friends and family, did some walks and found some interesting caches.
I had a good time travelling all over the North Island finding caches. It was nice to find some different types of caches/hides from what I'm used to. Thanks to all the COs for setting them up.
Hard to believe today was our last day in Tauranga having had five nights here and I still hadn't found a cache in the Bay of Plenty. Well I couldn't leave town until we had signed the logbooks of one or maybe two cache.
Found this cache around mid morning, when we had the area to ourselves, with Kiwi Nomad v2.0, Minecraft boy, and Boba Fett Clone.
The pirate was soon had enough to drink to tell us his secrets and the log was signed.
Thanks for the adventure, smiles all round.

Last one to find on the way out. When I parked I read the description and realised that I had nothing to offer a thirsty Pirate.
Luckily, someone had left there vessel on the seat, so I borrowed that. Got to GZ and found someone else had left their vessel here and full of rum. Well it looked like rum, but most likely very well dirty water. Anyway, the Pirate hydrated revealed a twist in the tail, which led to the treasure.
Rescued a TB amongst the soggy items.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Out and about in the camper for a few days. Decided to stay at Te Puna so we could collect all the caches in the area. This one was on our hit list. Came prepared with the necessary TOTT and made our way to GZ. Aha me hearties we found the start of the treasure hunt. Arrgghh. Now what do we do. Ahhhh, read the treasure map. Is it here? No. There? No.? It's got to be here said Mr S. Yes, look, I can see it. Got it. Very cool. Have a FAV.
Thanks Bridgeaway. Another smilie on the peninsula.

We drove out to the point this morning to target two much Favourited caches, this being one of them. We parked up and made our way down the steps, and as we reached GZ and spied the object there, we remembered we were supposed to have brought a certain TOTT with us. No worries, there just happened to be what we needed nearby. Our combined efforts soon had the container revealed - but wait . . . this is not the logsheet. After a little pondering we soon had the actual cache and logsheet in hand. Nicely done. Giving this one a Favourite point for the fun cache.
the coolest one I have ever found. Today I am taking my cousins caching for the first time and this was our first find!
Legit the coolest cache we have found so far! Thanks so much for the fun adventure. A fave point for you even though in my excitement I hit my head twice on different overhanging branches and gave myself a concussion, oops!
Quickly found with fuschnu and theSamandtheStacey on a beautiful day.
took a tb and dripped another one

Whats happened to the cache on island. I finally got here on low tide. Sitn on island atmo.... but cache is not on map anymore !!??
Our family's in the area for one night over Labour Weekend. Before checking in to our Airbnb up the road, we came down here to see the estuary (and play on the mudflats...). Left TB. Thanks!
After giving the pirate a drink the words "I wish there was a treasure map" came out. Arrr we happy to find the treasure!
Cache number 3381. Once parked up and I sat there enjoying the view. Then I spotted the little track. Once down at water I stood there enjoying the same view but from a slightly different angle. On turning around I spotted the hide. Soon had it signed sealed and returned. It is always nice to get caches that are out of sight of muggles and you can take your time with it. thank you for the placement.
Lots of pirate treasure here, good fun to find. Arrrrrrrgh (bad pirate impersonation!).
On a mission from the west, this pirate is on his own for this skirmish to the eastern seaboard while visiting old comrade landlubbers who have retired to the golden sands of Ohope. This cache fitted in well with my mission for the weekend and is a missing link in my matrix, so well worth a vist. Found GZ in good order, came prepared with a tot or two for the man, but needed a wee trip to find more grog and a closer inspection to grab the cache. Log is damp but writable, however, pen looks like it will wash off so photo taken of GZ and the log if required. Had the pleasure of meeting the CO within the hour at the gathering of pirates at the grog shop GC77XFA. Mission accomplished, this one is a wrap. Thanks for the cache from Blenheim Bear!

Out with My.Precious hunting for a tomato stall with no luck so decided to do another type of hunt. Another place that's a treasure to the Bay. Will have to come back here with the kayak and do some fishing.
As Basic members using the mob app, we can only get the location of the cache, no hints or clues from premium members. It adds to the challenge .
Got to GZ and started to look for a likely spot to hide a treasure, sure enough we found something that looked abit geocachey. The bottom bracket was broken so with great care the pirate chest was lifted and the contents dislodged, only to find it was a decoy. After following the instructions to real treasure chest the decoy was safely returned to it's lodgings. The ture treasure was uncovered and the log was signed with our joint log name TT2.M.P Sorry the pirate didn't get his rum or water, but we got to visit a great little spot. TFTC

No clues except the GPS on my Mob, the satelite pic and logic (maybe)
Tiga and I fought the pirates and our way through to what we hoped was GZ to start the search Based on instinct.
I was down when Tiga called me thinking to have found the cache. I came up and we found it was a clue which sent me back to where I was. Treasure box duly discovered, and regretfully I hadn't brought my cache bag with me so had nothing to put in. Treasure was a bit damp and the log was FULL so we logged along the top with our joint name of TT2M.P to save space.
This was a fun find so Tftc.

We parked the car and thought this looks familiar and yes, we spotted the little island out the front where we'd found a cache many years ago. Brought back great memories. We followed the agapanthus path and the pirate was soon spotted. We bribed him with a bottle of rum, expecting him to give up his secret but he just burped and kept his mouth shut. After more water he still refused to part with anything so we had to resort to firmer handling and finally made him cough up his answer. We soon had the treasure in our grasp, what a beauty! A well crafted cache is always a thrill to find. Thanks for the great effort on this one. Moved the TB along. TFTC.
Thanks Bridgeaway . Great themed and executed cache. Have been meaning to get out here for a while and finally made it today.
What a beautiful place! So quiet so it was a nice easy find with no muggles around. Clever hide. TFTC
TFTC. The kids went treasure hunting, and raided the booty before I had a chance to hydrate the pirate. Still did anyway, cos he was thirsty...his last bottle of wine looked like it had been long finished....very cool cache. Would be a magic spot when the tide is in!
Out caching with iammrwalker, kiwis69, 11hpg11 and HKCB to mission it around and about Tauranga.
There's amazing caches in Tauranga, something about this area just brings out the quality. I need to move here just for the caching! The quality of the cache aside, it was such a great area. Cheers for bringing us here

Out and about with Kiwis69, 11HPG11, Kyb3r and iammrwalker for a bit of a mission over in Tauranga. With caching time limited for a few of us, a half(ish) day leave pass was given from our respective muggle partners. With a set in stone time of 2pm to be back at home to maximise caching time a 5am start was agreed on. Still we managed about 6 hours of caching time and managed to find around 35 caches throughout the morning.
We all enjoyed the day out, and I think we all agreed it was a little long between drinks. A bonus for the day was the high level of quality caches we found. A big thanks to all those CO's for making it an even more memorable day. We signed the logs as HOAC, a group name we go by from time to time.
Its always refreshing to find a nicely themed cache for a change. I soon had the cache in hand while mrwalker was still standing around like a one eyed pegged legged pirate who was looking for polly while holding a cracker. Thanks for the neat hide.

I found this cache along with HKCB, kyb3r, Kiwi69 and 11hpg11, we signed most of the logs HOAC and a couple with an abbreviation of our Geocaching handles to save on space and time. We came over to the Bay from Hamilton, leaving at 5am and getting back to the Tron at 2pm to appease our respective partners. I managed to nab about 35 geocaches on our quick trip. We had a great time, shared some unforgettable work stories and some very humorous cringe worthy innuendo. The Bay has some incredibly creative CO’s and we were really impressed with the quality and variety of hides.
Its always nice to come across a well thought out, well executed Geocache in a cool spot. I also like how it stayed in theme to the very end. HKCB was onto this one in a flash and had the (cool) container in hand before I even barely realised what was going on. Thanks for this well put togeather cache.

Ooops, we stumbled across the treasure before spotting the thirsty pirate. Oh well, we'll just keep that bottle of rum then... Cool cache! Covered the treasure a bit more so it's not so obvious to future pirates. Thanks for the fun cache
We loved everything about this cache. As we walked down to it we heard a different birdsong and found the tree on the path was full of Californian quails! Unfortunately one of them took fright and they all took flight - very noisily!
Steed gave the pirate a drink from his only drink bottle while I held him tight to make sure he didn't spill any. He was so grateful he told us where the treasure was - in a roundabout sort of way - pirates never tell it straight.
Tidiness is also not a pirate virtue, so we took out some rubbish and swabbed the decks a bit before signing the Captain's log and swapping treasure.
A noise up the path alerted us to someone's presence, so we quickly replaced it, then had a chat to the woman clearing the steps of overgrown foliage. She'll never know how close she is to treasure, or maybe she does!
A fav from us, thanks for the fun.

By far our favourite one so far - the kids got so excited about the treasure!! Log scroll is full up now with no more room to write.
found with the kids while in the area. This is an awesome cache, definitely getting a fp from me. Log is very full and treasure was a little wet. TFTC
Quickly figured out what was involved with this one once we got to GZ. Had the tool required in the car so used some nearby substance. Well, the fun didn't end there.... We then proceeded to locate the themed container and sign the log. Nicely done, we dropped a geocoin for moving along, TFTC!
We knew what to do as soon as we read the description ..... Loved the extra twist involved. Great little beach here and I am sitting paddling my feet as I write this log. Thanks for the effort of this cache fav point from us.
We loved everything about this cache. Just the thing to bring a smile to the face of geocachers of all ages. Thoroughly deserves a favourite. TFTC
Went out with my nan. Loved hunting for this neat cache and loved all the treasure. Thank you.
Awesome cache, the grandies loved it, the scroll is very full but all in good order. Well done on a neat cache. Tftc
Ventured out this way to grab the last two I needed to get in this little gem of a spot.
This gets a fav for being outright AWESOME.
I enjoyed everything about this one and the detail that went into it's creation.
Thanks so much bridgeaway, wish I could give more fav points here!!
The log is pretty full now, sorry I didn't have my cache kit with me.

Went on an adventure to day with the So Psyched crew. I couldn't get any signal down the steps but luckily had cased this one out previously and knew what we needed to do. Pointed the kids in the right direction and they had fun doing the task. Great result with treasure box located. tftc
what a great part of Tauranga that we didnt even know exsisted - very beautiful
the pirate was on shore leave when we arrived , but managed to find him and his map. He is know back where he should be. the map took us straight to the cach. thanks for a fun cach

Down here on a house hunting trip with a friend and we had time between viewings to pick up a few caches. We made this one so much harder than it needed to be. The thirsty pirate got his ration of rum easy enough, but finding X marks the spot proved to be a little harder as we both slightly misread the map and were looking a little further away than we needed to be. I found the perfect hiding spot but it was empty so we stopped and took a moment to admire the view and had another look at the map, then tried another spot and was soon able to dig up the treasure. And what treasure it was! Loved this cache from beginning to end. This gets a well deserved fp from me.
On a geocaching holiday in the area.
Nice fairly quick find here, enjoyed the location and container.

Haargh me hearties. We had a spare bottle of rum, but this was intended for the geodog after his walk. Fortunately another bottle was found and we soon had the treasure map in hand.
Took some devious searching before we hit spot X. Excellent and pleased to add another fav point.

Having spent an excellent day with Bridgeaway & Co at the Meet N Greet at the Paeroa Band Rotunda, followed by a very successful Hauraki Rail Trail geocaching ride, we thought that the only way we could possibly top the day off would be to have a go at their tricky Pirate's Treasure Cache on the way home. Mission accomplished by torchlight. Great treasure chest & lots of fun. All good. TFTC
Took my own measure of rum but it wasn't quite enough. Used the supplied rum bottle to top up. Soon had the chest in hand. Thanks.
Headed over this was with Kiwis69 to head to a certain birthday rave in a cave. We set off from Hamilton just on dark and grabbed some caches on the way to fill in time
Glad we made the effort to pop out and get this one. Very well done yet again Bridgeaway. We bought some pirates rum we had brewed up earlier on in the evening and the pirates seemed to enjoy this as they then spilled all their dastardly secrets to us. A quick hunt in the wrong place originally then bought to light the pirates treasure from the depths below. Well done on a lovely crafted cache and well stocked treasure! A great one for kids. Managed to get in and out without waking the neighbours. Worthy of a fav point or two.

Taking a circuitous route from Hamilton with 11hpg11 so that we can have a few hours' child-free caching binge on our way to a geocaching birthday rave in cave. Less chance of muggles at this hour too and good fun to test the caching senses in the dark.
Had to plot & scheme to ensure we had enough rum on hand by the time we arrived here &, thankfully with multiple hands, it was straightforward to get the first piece of info. Had to laugh that yet another cache we expected to be trad had more of a multi feel; a recurring theme of unexpected twists & turns tonight. Took a moment to come up with the final but really glad we persisted. Great load of swag & a very well-themed cache. A fav from me too. TFTC

This cache owner can make some great caches...this is a good sample of it.
I don't know why there is such a high rating for terrain, but certainly worthwile the visit. It even did cost us some hunting for the treasure too.
Left another treasure (geocoin) behind for the nex one to find.
And we give it a well deserved favourite for the effort.

Awesome a new Favorite!! Loved the way you got a map!!! And the design of the Treasure box was awesome!! I will be back to this one tomorrow tho as when I have got home some how I messed up and put the log into my bag ( so sorry but will pop back out there tomorrow and put the log back in TFTC!!
Great spot. Great fun. Great cache!
Love all the work you put into this cache! Took my cousin along to her first cache... you have set a high standard! She thought is was cool, my Cache King loved it too - & Johnny Depp was the icing on the cake!

#293 and an easy favourite. First part was good and funny as what were the chances of doing 2 of these in one day? Sweating for a while after though until I had another look at the material at hand. WOW, and a good haul indeed! Cheers Bridgeaway - well executed.
Lots of fun. We loved this cache. Had to look hard after getting the treasure map from the "pirate".
