Nice spot we great view over the hills out to the sea. We had a rest to enjoy it and searching the cache. Cache in good condition, TFTC.

The last find on a big adventure covering the Fletcher, Puriri Ridge, Omanawanui, Gibbons and now Walker Ridge. Getting a bit anxious at this point as only an hour and a half till sunset, with plenty of ground still to cover so I gave myself a max of 2 mins to find this one before moving on. A quick rumage around the co-ords had me about to give up when I spotted it a bit further up peaking out from its hiding place. Visit logged and back on my way. Just made it back to Huia as the sun was setting. TFTC.

A good place to stop for a snack. A nice quick find with the hint. TFTC

As BBQ plans changed the night before due to an injured friend I decided spontaneous to go for a longer hike. I was anyhow overdue on some "me" time. Parked and started at the Lone Kauri Rd and moved fast along the Buck Taylor Track along onto Muir Track and back via Walker Ridge Track.
Easy find and used the break for some more food. TFTC

While one of us hunted for the cache the other was busy making friends with a very inquisitive Tom Tit. It was so friendly it came within reach on many occasions but was sensible to move away when it sensed it was being just a bit too precocious.

28-Aug-15
Came across a group of hikers at orange peel corner and tagged along behind then on the way to the cache. When they stopped for a photo op I shot ahead to try grab this cache before they arrived. The search took too long with nothing in the hint fitting. As I found the cache the hikers arrived, So spent a little while explaining why I was looking a bit mad searching the undergrowth.

after climbing to the top I was hoping for a cache, but it was not go be. I could not see anything that stood out as 1-2 metre and bright green, seeing as though I was standing in the bush. Maybe I was just grumpy and hungry. My finger was still sore, but at least I had stopped bleeding by this point.

Stopped for a quick rest to take in the view to see how far I've come and let a couple of muggles pass. Looking out past the trees southward I could see Omanawanui. Once the muggles passed I jumped into action, the cache was located not long after they passed. TFTC.

Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.

Out for a wander in the Waitakeres with evilno9 and Gorbygorbachov for the day. We headed down the Pararaha gorge and then back via Muir / Walker Ridge / Odlins Timber Tracks and back to the car some 10 hours later and all up 19km. A very memorable day and what is arguably the most scenic place in the Waitakeres. My first mission down the Pararaha and loved every minute of it.

Another spot where we were glad of the cache location to take a breather! Took a few minutes to locate even though evilno9 and gorby had both found it previously. Finally spotted and log signed, TFTC! Big Grin

Cheers for the replacement. I was following a couple of "trail runners" along Walkers Ridge. I was a bit slower on the downs but faster than them on the ups. Considering that there are always more ups than downs, I was making a faster overall pace than them. I came in from the Whatipu (south, downhill) side. Funny that, and I was in my clodhopper boots with a full daypack. GZ was the lunch spot--I needed to let the runners pass before I could go for the find. Leftover pizza was for lunch and when the runners saw that, they were suddenly looking very hungry and jealous. There is no better trail food. Cheers for the cache.

A little bit of a workout up this hill heading to Orange Peel crn, but not too much really! Easily spotted the cache with an eagle eye like mine! Signed log then moved on!

Rooted? Yeah probably. Or rolled down the hill maybe.

Wandering through the areas today, with Vistra - seems this one has gone missing - since my last visit - unable to find it where it should be... pending replacement.

16-Mar-14
Yep, out today and didn't find it. Was that you at the Lone Kauri car park driving the white car?

27-Jan-14
Nothing found despite three people looking for it and a very likely hiding spot.

I thought I might be able to squeeze this one in before heading back to Don Maclean. GZ seemed to be pointing to a likely feature but I failed the find. Thanks for the walk, M@

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

After a 21km hike in the Hunuas on Saturday, I decided that my legs weren't sore enough yet and topped that up with a 7.5km walk in the Waitakeres to grab a few more caches. We parked at Donald McLean and made our way up to Karamatura Forks and along to this cache, before returning back the way we came. No problems with the find, thanks for the cache!

Found it on a weekend tramp with our scout group. Tramped right past GZ so we could find a level spot to drop our packs and walked back to find the cache and enjoy the view. It is great that there are so many caches on this track as it gave the scouts something to aim for and me a chance to have a breather. TFTC.

From "What U can see" to here is a totally different kettle of fish, Track very overgrown in places, but still easily followable. Actually fell off a boardwalk at one point as I didn't see it ending and the next one beginning, but made an elegant recovery to stay upright. Managed about 3/4 of the walk in sunshine, but the heavens opened for the last 1/2 hour.

TFTC

Decided to get out today to clean up some of the caches that we did not get to on the great expedition in February, plus some of the new ones in the area, i.e. this one. Great views so decided to drop off a TB to admire the view - now forthe long hot climb back up to Karamatura Forks. TFTC

Having come out here just after these were published and missing out on this one due to the lack of daylight, we were surprised it still hadn't been found. So on another mint saturday afternoon, headed back out here with plenty of daylight to get us through. Always a good walk out this way, so enjoyed the wander and made our way to the GZ. After a bit of a dig around, and using the hint came up with the find, and luckily a blank log book! Took a few minutes to enjoy the view, and headed back up the track. Thanks for bringing us out here again. TFTC

Had wanted to get this one a couple of weeks ago but daylight wasn't on our side so it was put on the back burner. Beautiful day out today so no such problem and after parking up at Don McClean we were at GZ just on an hour later for a surprising FTF. Great spot for the cache and we took some time to enjoy the views before heading back in time to watch the Warriors. Should have just taken our time... TFTC Big Grin
