I am no longer able to maintain this series. Seven years ago, when these were placed, the walk way was largely just a bush track. It has now become a very popular walking trail. The hide location has become compromised.

Out on a sunny day to collect some caches, some are puzzle caches that we have solved. Sunny start to the day, set off at the park. Following the fun climbing the tree in the Linklater Pines, we went to do Fred's Walk.

Dodged the wet grass. Quickly found. TFTC

Thought this would make a nice little series of caches for us to walk after lots of PNG's yesterday. Really disappointed that we were unable to gain all the info for the final due to the archival of #3 and although a message was sent to the owner we have not yet received the info. Anyway, no problems with this cache and off to #2. TFTC

05-Jan-19
If anyone is wanting to complete the final for this series I am more than happy to provide the missing information but please allow a reasonable time (more than 24 hours) for me to reply.

I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I now go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get me closer to my goal

Here in Palmerston North today for two reasons. Reason one get at least one cache for a missing dot on my calendar matrix and secondly retrieve a cache that was rejected by a curator for being to close to another cache, probably a nearby mystery cache final location

Quick and easy find
The log could do with replacing as it is full

Thanks for the cache

My lad and I were up in Palmerston North again yesterday evening for a games night with friends, and were staying over so figured that today we would do a bit of caching here to make a real start on achieving the 100 finds needed to complete the Hidden Creatures challenge.

With this in mind, I had planned to do this series, even though 1 of the caches is currently temporarily disabled. Luckily for me, the CO was kind enough to supply us with the code that we would have obtained from the missing cache, so there was then nothing to prevent us from finding the final 7th cache.

Having parked up near the start of the track, and with a heavy dew on the grass, we set off. As it was reasonably early on a Sat morning, there weren't many people around which allowed us to find these caches without having to be super stealthy.

So this was the first of the required finds. The co-ords led us straight to where the cache was going to be, and the Hint did the rest. The boy acted as lookout whilst I signed the log on behalf of both of us, and then put it all back exactly as found. A great start to our day, so thank you for placing this cache.

#9667. A nice short walk in Kelvin Grove in Palmerston North. Fortunately GZ was all quiet when we visited. Just as well, as it took us a bit longer than expected since we were looking at the old coordinates on our GPS! Widened the search, and then found it 9 metres away (and just 4 metres from the current coordinates). The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the placement and for bringing us to the site, and …

#4704. After a full on day geocaching around the region yesterday in the rain I stayed overnight at Palmerston North in a motel hoping to get a second big day in. But the Metservice let me down badly this week forecasting as late as Wed night that there would be fine weather for Fri/Sat in Manawatu when in reality it rained much of both days. Don't know why they bother with 10 day forecasts when they get it this wrong 2 days out. So on Saturday I set myself a greatly reduced target of just 20 caches to find around Palmie before heading back home. Parked nearby and headed into the reserve. The hiding spot was rather obvious and hence the cache was soon found. Signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache stardust718.

Out today trying to get rid of another pesky dot day. Gr33nslime, DangerSAM and I were over this way today so that Gr33nslime could help me with Wild Horses (Manawatu) by wilma677 again. Sadly even with her help we did not turn anything up. With the day coming to a close and DAngerSAM having had his full of playgrounds and was all swung out from the swing we settled for this (hopefully) more easier cache. Gr33nslime corralled the energetic DangerSAM while I bee lined to GZ to find this cache. Very straight forward find and thought the park was very open, we had it to ourselves this afternoon. Cache was nice and dry and it was an easy find in the end. Thanks for the cache and bringing us out this way Stardust.

# 1002 We were in the vicinity on this lovely wintery Sunday afternoon, trying for the highly favourited Kaimanawa Horses which unfortunately alluded us this day. So next on the agenda was the first of this cool looking series. I picketed DangerSAM in the car so JimmyNZ could make the find! We will be coming back for the remainder of this series in slow time to collect the set of codes and the final. Thanks for the cache and series stardust.

I had been in Palmeston North for a couple of days for work and decided to try and grab a few caches before I left. I didn't have a great deal of time but saw this walk on the map and decided it would be a good opportunity to stretch the legs. I managed to grab about forty caches while I was in town but amazingly this was the only Nano I found during my visit. No problems with the find although the log was full and I was a little naughty and had to partly write over someone's log.

12-Jul-16
Full log so couldn't sign - also quite smudged so hard to find clue but very clever!

12-Jul-16
Found while on a caching trip to the area. TFTC

Having found all but #3 in this series today on the way home was the day with the weather having cleared. However gps had me out on #3 so a hint from Push n East got me on the right track. I was also advised by Push n East I had NOT logged the sheet at Fred's #1. I realised I had to go back anyway as I forgot to get the code. (You tend to forget there could even be a code in such a small cache when it's drizzling, windy and workmen down on Roberts Line lol.) Push n East was correct. I had seen the two last spaces on the log but forgot to log it in my fixation of finding cache lying on the grass. So now I have taken the very last space on the log. Got home to find I have all codes but that from #2! Grrr. Where did I put that one I ask myself lol. Maybe I am clever enough to wing it now I have the other five numbers needed? Fingers crossed for tomorrows pre/post work adventures.

18-Jun-16
Strange - last signature in log was pgcgc on 6 June. Maybe there's two caches here? Log is damp and I signed 2nd to last space.

16-Jun-16
Found on the grass. Magnet not on it. Signed log. Log very wet. Only one more space left on log. Left balanced where i think it should be.

16-Jun-16
Urgent maintenance needed before it is lost permantly. See previous log. Tftc. Nice park.

06-Jun-16
Log book is full and is detached from magnet Smile

28-May-16
Quickly got to GZ but couldn't find the cache - then noticed it on the ground. Log OK but damp, nearly full. I didn't have a replacement. The container seems to have lost its attaching power, so re-concealed as per clue but hopefully in a way that wind or people won't disturb it. Might need a maintenance visit. Thanks for the cache, am looking forward to completing the series.

08-May-16
Left this to last now to put clues together

Vistra and I had headed down to to Manwatu for the weekend, we both wanted a high number weekend and I was looking forward to meeting some of the locals as well.

Thank you to all the CO's for their placements some nicely placed, clever and tricky hides, so a great variety. TFTC

I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.

I joined up with yorkshirekiwi83 again today for another day of caching, before our flight out this evening. After a day of caching around the city, Bunnythorpe, Ashhurst and the gorge, we returned back to the city to pick up a few more caches in the evening before our flight. We decided to tackle the Fred's Walk series of caches - it was a nice little walk to end the day. This cache was a nice quick find at GZ. TFTC!

After spending the day at work in Palmerston North and having a lovely lunch at GC6A46V - 2016 Leap Day Event (Manawatu) it was time to go and see some more clients. Managed to finish my meetings a bit earlier than I thought that it was going to take and noting that I had about 40 minutes before I needed to go back to Wellington.

Decided that I needed to go for a walk and get some exercise before driving back to Wellington, saw that there was this series of caches and decided to check a few out. Managed to find a car park not too far from the given GZ and it was a short easy walk to GZ.

Arriving at GZ, it only took a few seconds to spot the cache, retrieving it was not an issue, getting the logbook out of the cache container took longer than it to find it, finally got the log page out, signed and returned as found and then it was a short stroll back to the car to drive closer to the next one.

Thanks for placing this cache here, would not have known about this walkway if it was not for caching, TFTC TNLNSL.
