I am no longer able to maintain this series. Seven years ago, when these were placed, the walk way was largely just a bush track. It has now become a very popular walking trail. The hide location has become compromised.
Another quick find by hubby when searching for Mystery at the Museum challenge, TFTC
Out on a sunny day to collect some caches, some are puzzle caches that we have solved. Sunny start to the day, set off at the park. Following the fun climbing the tree in the Linklater Pines, we went to do Fred's Walk.
A little bit tricky. Lots of lying down on the board walk required. No muggles around to laugh at us, phew . TFTC

Last in the series for us as we couldn't get all the info for the final. This was nicely hidden but found quite quickly. TFTC
I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I now go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will help me get closer to my goal
Decided to go to Palmerston North today to do a bit of geocaching while I'm there, needing to get at least one cache for a dot on my calendar matric but aiming to get about ten caches which shouldn't be too hard to get
The logbook was mush spent some time drying it out on a nearby seat but it still needs replacing as it is in bits and still a bit damp I return the cache back and placed it off the ground
Thanks for the cache

My lad and I were up in Palmerston North again yesterday evening for a games night with friends, and were staying over so figured that today we would do a bit of caching here to make a real start on achieving the 100 finds needed to complete the Hidden Creatures challenge.
With this in mind, I had planned to do this series, even though 1 of the caches is currently temporarily disabled. Luckily for me, the CO was kind enough to supply us with the code that we would have obtained from the missing cache, so there was then nothing to prevent us from finding the final 7th cache.
Having parked up near the start of the track, and with a heavy dew on the grass, we set off. As it was reasonably early on a Sat morning, there weren't many people around which allowed us to find these caches without having to be super stealthy.
This one was the last of the five required finds for today. Walking towards GZ, the GPS took us to a point where the Hint could be applied to 2 nearby locations. So it was simply a case of searching each of them, and the container was found at the second location. However, it soon became apparent that the container has let in an awful lot of water at some stage as the log was completely saturated and un-signable. I have taken a photo of it as evidence of the find which I will upload shortly. So the contents were simply repacked as found and the container returned to its hide as I wasn't carrying any spares today.
Thanks for the cache.

Found a hook under the bridge, where I think the cache was suppose to be but no luck
Found the spot and think I spied the cache holder, but unfortunately couldn't find the cache. Could it have floated away?
Thanks for replacing this! Great day for a walk. Cache was on ground. Put where I think it should be.
Three fools out caching on April Fool's Day. Our second find. The log is soaked. We didn't have supplies to replace it.
This cache was attempted as part of the Palmerston North leg of our "Road to 6,000" Extravaganza for 2016.
Took me a while and then there it was! Sure I had searched there before!

I had been in Palmeston North for a couple of days for work and decided to try and grab a few caches before I left. I didn't have a great deal of time but saw this walk on the map and decided it would be a good opportunity to stretch the legs. I really enjoyed my walk and was disappointed in my self for not taking more care to collect the clues for the bonus cache as I went. This was probably my favorite hide of the trail. I tried to take a short cut back to the car and nearly got lost. Thank goodness for Google Maps! Thanks for the cache and the series.
Found it. Not well hidden stuck out like red car in parking lot of white cars
Having found out the Velcro dots aren't the location of the container, came back for another look. This time found very quickly. Surprised I didn't happen upon it the first time. Now on to complete the Fred's Walk final.
Located some Velcro but no container. Possibly fallen off and washed away in the rain the last couple of weeks? Couldn't complete the Fred's Walk final, unfortunately. I'll be back.
Had done all the others in this series except this one. Took a bit of searching to find this one but got there in the end. Tftc
Vistra and I had headed down to to Manwatu for the weekend, we both wanted a high number weekend and I was looking forward to meeting some of the locals as well.
Thank you to all the CO's for their placements some nicely placed, clever and tricky hides, so a great variety. TFTC

I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
I joined up with yorkshirekiwi83 again today for another day of caching, before our flight out this evening. After a day of caching around the city, Bunnythorpe, Ashhurst and the gorge, we returned back to the city to pick up a few more caches in the evening before our flight. We decided to tackle the Fred's Walk series of caches - it was a nice little walk to end the day. This was a nice quick find here. TFTC!

#7600. We were staying quite close by in Kelvin Grove. Went for a nice early morning walk in Schnell Wetland Reserve after breakfast. GZ was all quiet upon arrival. Found after a short search. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside.
Picked up My boot is made for walking
Left nothing, signed log.
When walking back towards James Line, saw a number of other morning walkers coming into the reserve. Timing was perfect.

Gorgeous walkway. Had to wait for lots of dogs to pass by before finding this. Thanks for bringing us here
Had been unable to find this one some time ago when we were in town so had another go today. Success! tftc
Last one then I can solve the mystery. ..thanks for this series of caches and bringing me to this area:):) nice and easy to find not that muddy the foot prints left helped
Ahhhhh here's the wet land. What a beautiful spot, thanks for bringing us here.
Very thankful for the gumboots for this hide.
Very thankful for the gumboots for this hide.
Aaaarrrrgh! five found no problem -but the recent rain means that getting down off the boardwalk to search out the sixth cache is a non-starter -quite deep water and lots of mud, not sure how deep I'd sink before I stopped. So no # 6 and consequently no final. Ah well, will have to return on a (much) drier day when no paddling is required.
Container dried and new log book added. Thanks to the previous cachers in helping to find the container and put a temporary log sheet in.
when we got to GZ, our eternal foe the mud puddle was present !
Seems this area got hit by a fair amount of water.
Cache was found in the place last poster mentioned, and most of its contents were pretty dry, except the
log book which at the time of finding resembled mushy yucky.
Attempted to dry it out, but will take more than our usual supplies to dry it out, checked in a small baggie with some RitR log to record our visit, and should hold out till you get to the maintenance run.
Cheers

I was on a day trip with my mum (SunnyBunny64) and Nickhbnz and his son Lucas. TFTC
2 adult cachers and 2 geo kids on a road trip from Napier to Palmerston North seeing how many caches we can log on our way! Used the hint and followed the GPS. The first area we searched didn't bring up anything so we back tracked a little. One of the geokids thought they had found it but the 'space' was empty. We were quite gutted but thought maybe it wasn't actually the right spot and as we headed back to the other likely spot. Low and behold it was found in the water/mud! It is not in very good condition so will definitely need some maintenance, as Nick has logged. We have placed it back where we figure it was supposed to be (if you have issues finding it for maintenance by all means flick one of us a message).
We found what we were sure was the holding bracket for this cache first, but it was sadly empty. After just about walking away empty handed I spotted the cache further down stream, half burried in mud. The contents were soaked, and unfortunately I didnt have anything on me to clean it up and dry off. Have put the cache back in what we assumed was the bracket. TFTC. 39th find on our roadtrip to Palmerston North.
Spent quite a while here under the watchful eye of the sheep, but with no luck. The gps and hint were in quite different places (if we understood the hint correctly). A lot of mud and water around today so were unable to fully check all possibilities.
CO check: completed this walk with my toddler in the mountain buggy. All good with the cache here. Glad to see it is still in the correct hiding place.
Loved the walk with the searchDog today ... these sheep sure are friendly - especially the big ram, and they didn't mind the dog sniffing them.
Up here for a week on work commitments, any spear time was caching with Geco72.

Out on a cache hunt with my friend Mr Casserly. End of the walk and another nice hide...glad to have finally done this walk. Tftc
Good opportunity to tease the youngster about the nearby path aka 'bog' he could walk into if he wished! He laughed and declined this time. Swaybars long arms were useful so cache soon in hand. Thanks.
This was my favorite hide in the series due to the rural aspect: I enjoyed having curious sheep watching my search, their heads poking through the fence. The cache was found in short order, signed, sealed and delivered back to the hide. Thanks for the smiley!
. Visited once before and couldn't find it was afraid of getting feet wetand what I was sticking hand into. This time wasn't and saw cache straight away. Awesome hiding spot tftc.
#904 Nice area - loved the frog pond. Picked up a geocoin - seems to have been there a while. TFTC
This one was trickier than the others however really enjoyed the lambs nearby. Dropped off border collie geocoin to look after the sheep.
We decided on this walk as we wanted some exercise this series was a great walk and we enjoyed every step of it many thanks for placing these here
A quick find this evening. A couple of scruffy sheep nearby. One came to the fence and enjoyed a scratch on its ears. Very unlike sheep who are usually very skittish. TFTC
Initially thought I was headed into someone's farm but spotted the obvious track soon enough. Some scruffy looking sheep nearby. Found the hide OK, many thanks.
