I am no longer able to maintain this series. Seven years ago, when these were placed, the walk way was largely just a bush track. It has now become a very popular walking trail. The hide location has become compromised.
Out on a sunny day to collect some caches, some are puzzle caches that we have solved. Sunny start to the day, set off at the park. Following the fun climbing the tree in the Linklater Pines, we went to do Fred's Walk.
Had all the coords except part f. This was required to complete thr cache anyway, there were very few places it could be. 1FP for the series. TFTC

CO check - it's there, dry, still original logbook/container. If you need to code for #3 since it is now archived just ask me.
After completing the 5 trads in the series and getting the missing info from the CO we were determined to come back today and find this bonus cache. No problems in locating the cache, many thanks
Was going past (kinda...) while out on a bike ride, so stopped to see if this was still here.
Not only is it still here, but it still has its original 5+ year old logbook

Thanks to the CO for supplying the number for Fred's Walk#3. Super accurate coordinates led me straight to this cache. Enjoyed exploring this series of paths. Tftc and series.
#10,384. We had explored the different parts of Frederick Krull Reserve in Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North over the years. We found Fred's Walk #2 back in April 2015 … and then the last one (Fred's Walk #5) in August this year. Meanwhile, we DNFed Fred's Walk #3 in October 2017, and were disappointed that it got archived in August. Thankfully, the cache owner supplied us its missing code to enable us to attempt this Fred's Walk #Final.
So a return to Kelvin Grove was in order. Final GZ was all quiet when we visited. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for the series and placements, and for bringing us to all these sites, and …

A bit of an interesting day for me. It has been one of my parenting weekends, and so I had made a plan to take my lad over to the Wairarapa to attend a Geocaching event and pick up a few caches on the way in the hope of finally achieving the Hidden Creatures souvenir series currently running.
However, I mistakenly got the event date wrong, and so it was yesterday, not today, and suddenly I was at a loose end. What to do? Well Palmerston North is still rich pickings for us both, as we are still relatively new to Geocaching, so figured on tempting fate with the weather in the hope of snagging a few up here.
A few weeks ago my lad and I managed to get all the qualifying caches for the Freds Walk Series (barring the currently disabled one, where the CO was extremely helpful in proving the appropriate information) but before we could attempt this final cache, we were called away to meet a friend. So thought today would be a good day to try for this one. After all, a cache like this should never get to 2 years without being found!
Having enjoyed almost Spring-like weather for the last few hours, suddenly the heavens opened and we were forced to sit in the car and wait to see if this was just a passing heavy shower or if the rain was here to stay for the rest of the day. Luckily it was the former, but the heavy rain made the GZ extremely slippery on approach. We also couldn't believe that overlooking GZ was a house currently under construction, with a muggle painting the outside and taking a great deal of interest in us!
So we had to take our time and could only search when she turned her back on us. Consequently it took longer than was truly necessary to locate the cache, but in the end we got it, signed it, and replaced it taking as much care as possible to do so without being observed.
Thanks for placing this cache, and for bringing us to yet another part of NZ previously not visited.

At long last we log this one, after many months have past, we have enjoyed the 6 previous caches and their placments. On approaching ground zero we had to tread very carefully as it was very very slippery and greasy a drawback for this time of the year but cache quickly located and signed. tftc fp added
It is there as I needed a cache that had 10+ fav points for this weekend and this one had been on my list for a fair while now, I knew there was a reason why I had left it, thanks for the placement and a great walk through this area.
Having found and logged all the six Fred's walks (but forgetting to write down one code) I got lucky with the missing code (without a revisit) by managing to guess what the code was. I went straight to it before work. Pleased to have secured my one for the day as it is forecast to rain this afternoon. A great series and a nice walkway.
Managed to leave work on time for the first time in a week. Took to opportunity to stop at this pretty location. Easy find. TFTC
The culmination of three visits to this part of the city, and thanks for bringing me to such an interesting short walk. Has a huge amount of potential if they beef up the planting to same areas.
Got the final then had to work out the best way back to the car when I got back knew I had done a work out thanks for the fun TFTC
Fred must have been a very fit man if he used it regularly. We enjoyed the walk and trip back to the start. Many thanks for the opportunity. tftcaches.
Vistra and I had headed down to to Manwatu for the weekend, we both wanted a high number weekend and I was looking forward to meeting some of the locals as well.
Thank you to all the CO's for their placements some nicely placed, clever and tricky hides, so a great variety. A very friendly sheep kept us company for a section of this walk. TFTC

I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
I joined up with yorkshirekiwi83 again today for another day of caching, before our flight out this evening. After a day of caching around the city, Bunnythorpe, Ashhurst and the gorge, we returned back to the city to pick up a few more caches in the evening before our flight. We decided to tackle the Fred's Walk series of caches - it was a nice little walk to end the day. We managed to find all caches in the series (or just the lid in once case - but thankfully the code was there!) so we were able to work out the location of the final, went for a walk there and quickly found the bonus cache. Thanks for this nice little series of caches - favourite point added!

Great series to do while out running. Although it made for a lot of rest stops!Managed to offload some tbs that have been waiting a long time to travel. TFTC.
We started at the end of the series so we needed to loop back around to find the final puzzle. Thanks for great caches
Was back in Palmerston North today so decided to finish off this series. We had already found 2,3,4 and 5 on a previous visit. Using that info and the hint made a guess at where the final might be and were lucky on our first guess as we could see the cache as we approached. We then carried on to find 6 and drove around to find 1. Nice to have this now finished. tftc
Yes! Glad to finish this. Started yesterday with 2 year old grandie. Found we didn't have a pen so returned today and managed to find all and the final co-ordinates. tftc and trail!
Having read previous log, I extracted the cache & threw it at Mr Swiss to open...just as well there was a big spider! I can cope with little ones but big ones uggh.
Nice spot for the final, pity it's so over grown!
Nice spot for the final, pity it's so over grown!
Great to finish this one off thanks for the series .....good to visit this part of the city and its green belt
Had found the rest of these some time ago, thought today was a good opportunity as any to complete the set. Tftc
what seems like forever ago, we did the Fred series and recorded the required info.
Since we were close by today, decided to finish it off.
Got to GZ and a likely object was being pointed to so searching time!
Looks like its been awhile since last find, as spiders had nested on/ in cache, had to shake the little things off in order to open cache and retrieve log.
log was in good shape, cache also.
Cheers

I was on a day trip with my mum (SunnyBunny64) and Nickhbnz and his son Lucas. TFTC
2 adult cachers and 2 geo kids on a road trip from Napier to Palmerston North seeing how many caches we can log on our way! It was now quite dark so we had to use the torches on our phone so that we could see what we were looking for. Easily made the find thank goodness as it would have been a shame to do all this leading up to it and then not be able to finish it. We did do it in a bit of a silly order but driving it was not as straight forward as walking it I would think. Thank you for this puzzle, we have not done many so it is nice to log this one TFTC
We almost didnt bother collecting the info on the individual caches that was required, but I'm pleased we did so we could complete this mystery cache at the end. A quick find by torchlite, and out last for the day on our roadtrip to Palmerston North.
Decided to revisit the Fred's walk series to get rid of this bubble on my map. Couldn't find Fred's walk 1, think it may have been washed away in the floods but the number was pretty easy to guess. Didn't really like the spider nests all over the cache but had a great afternoon walk with the family and the dog. Tftc, awarding this cache a fp for the great series of caches.
CO check: completed this walk with my toddler in the mountain buggy. All good with the cache here.
Had gathered the required info over the last year or so and decided to use my time while passing through Palmie today to complete the formalities. TFTC and series stardust718, #7755
Couldn't find #1 & #4 was full of Muggles & their kids. Worked out likely coordinates and the hint helped zero down on GZ. Now a run back to the car. TFTC
We couldn't find cache #1, read lots of logs for hints, got the GPS down to 1m and were sure we were looking in the right spot but couldn't find it anywhere. Well it was easy enough to work out the final coordinates Easy find at GZ. TFTC!
Thanks for the series, which brought me to a part of Palmerston north I don't often visit…
#3 and #4 were a bit tricky as so close to houses. Thanks for also hosting events - I'm looking forward to Pi Day and lots more fun caching this year!!

Found it by intuition as my phone couldn't make sense of co-ordinates! Thanks for the trail. Beautiful walk
Done! Awesome way of seeing some of palmy I have never seen before will be using this path regularly from now on! Dog loved it and so did we TFTC!
Found this no trouble despite missing 'the dog' cache. It made logical sense to keep following the walk and we had all the rest of the co-ords. Thanks for the series. We were a bit relieved to finish thanks to the heat (and me using up lots of tissues), but it was a really great idea to put them here. TFTC
I skipped #4 earlier and with the puzzle numbers in hand figured this to be GZ - and I was correct. Several spiders were in residence, their webs almost completely enveloping the container. I cleaned it up well enough for now but I'm sure our eight-legged friends will soon return. I really enjoyed exploring these trails, stardust. Thanks for setting out the caches and encouraging exploration of this area.
Found it and the yuck thing (spider) ewww!!!!! Thats taken up residence inside the cache.. Dislike very much.
#908 good to finish off this series even though I didn't find #1. The rest of the numbers gave me enough. Great walking area. TFTC
Really enjoyed doing this series. Was staying nearby at inlaws house as was up from CHC for a Ruby Wedding. Solved the puzzle without finding #1. Thanks so much, had lots of fun exploring the hidden tracks.

Managed to get the remaining numbers I needed about three weeks ago so the final was a definite one to go seek out today. A very enjoyable series thank you [^]
Despite missing a couple of codes, we managed to walk the line with the coords we had, so glad we did, as we were rewarded with a cache find near a likely location, that we had narrowed down using Google Maps last night. Many thanks for the series.
Tftc. Series complete! Awesome reserve and enjoyed the walk! 21/4/14. Now for lunch!
A nice place to finish off. Upset the little spider who'd found himself a new home. TFTC & the enjoyable series
8:35:00 AM. Home for a week to catch up with the family. Out for a look around Palmy and catch up on a few caches. They have certainly sprung up in the last last 3 years since we were last back. Took mum out for a walk with us to find a few caches. Well missing one clue, what to do? I entered all the co-ords and averaged the missing one, looked at the hint and we gave it ago. We got lucky as there it was. Good to make the final one. TFTCSL
Nice walk, really enjoyed this on a sunny day. Really cool spots round here, greeted by a few more friendly sheep here too
Nice easy find to round out our Fred's walk. Great trail.

Saw the structure on my travels and my geocaching intuition paid off. Not finding No.4 did not prevent calculating this if I had needed to but used TPSr instead of GPSr. . Cache was a little exposed so popped back in a slightly more secluded position.
TFTC stardust 718 for the series. That was fun!

Had lots of fun finding all of these caches and Tue final puzzles thanks for the great series!
#6674. We were pleased to find the final; we didn't want to have to keep track of all of the info gleaned from the other caches we'd found. A fav point for the series. TFTC.
Initially we were unsure if we were in the right spot as the entrance way looked like a private driveway. A quick find at the final, good to get it despite the DNF at #4. Enjoyed the walks and the variety of hides - thanks for the series.
After finding all 6 was able to get the coordinates for this one and off we went to get the final. Easy find. Really enjoyed this walk and was great it was such a nice day - thanks for the hard work that has gone into maintaining these caches and the time it has taken to place them all! TFTC
Went to check on this series and perform some maintenance as required. Despite this cache being unfound for nearly 2 months I am pleased to report that it is still in place and dry. All ready to be found...waiting...
Worked out the final coordinates, despite #1 having been completely destroyed. Thanks for the series.
Our 17th of 18 caches found today. This was our first series in NZ and this was a really fun series to do. A nice pleasant place for a walk and each was different. Thanks to the cache owner for setting up this series. A great place for the final. TFTC.
A nice easy find with jtp2001. Thanks for the awesome series, and TFTC! Has been a whole lot of fun
On a weekend of Palmy nostalgia caching - and fixing up some of my own.
Phew, we got to the final. Great! Much enjoyed the Fred's Walk series, completed in one afternoon of strolling about. Thank you.
Straightforward find; cache in order, log signed, safely re-hidden.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too on a perfect winter's day in Palmy.
The Turtle strikes again!

Couldn't find number 2, so we guessed the co ords only to find they were wrong, so re did the workings with the only other options, and bingo ..Had the cache in hand
What a great series .. thank you
What a great series .. thank you
TFTC and series, found without finding #2, without any problems, cheers for bringing me on this walk
Great walk, couldnt find #2 in the series, but still managed to figure out the final with no troubles, TFTS
Hmm - we arrived at what we thought was GZ which was a very logical place but no joy. Perhaps we have a couple of figures mixed up suggests peniknz. Indeed so with the correct coords entered we back tracked and found the spot without trouble. Someone has planted marigolds around it - we wondered who. Thanks stardust718 for getting us out for a good walk in an area we had been to before. .
Thougt we were smart and could put all the clues together without reading the clue properly - so got 2 clues transposed - funilly it led us to a great hidding place that made perfect sense with the type of cache. After not finding it re reread the clue and set of for the correct coordinates - got there in the end

Although number 1 was MIA, I was able to calculate the coordinates for the final; luckily my common sense had accompanied me on this adventure.
This is a superbly put together series with a great amount of variety to make it even more interesting.
I especially welcomed the provision of parking co-ordinates and the marking of each end of the trial. While I am not a complete stranger to these parts, I always find this sort of information helpful to get started. I am sure visitors from further afield will appreciate these too.

I jumped in my car (I had parked on Schnell Drive - and fortunately so as I had to return to Fred's Walk # 4 due to muggles) and headed to the final. A quick, easy find once at GZ. What a great spot for the final.
A huge thank you to Stardust for the Fred's Walk caches. I really enjoyed this walk (I walked 2.7km in total) and enjoyed the variety of caches along the way. A lot of thought and planning has gone into this series and I thoroughly enjoyed myself from start to finish. A FP for the series - awesome effort. Very, very, very well done!

I really enjoyed this series of caches, thanks for effort of putting them out TFTC satrdust718
Located this cache on an expedition with wifey, and sister in law, and nieces and nephews...their first geocaching "treasure hunt" Thanks for the cache. Neat container a nice quick find.
Thought we had missed writing down the numbers on this cache, but have just noticed that we missed a cache in the series! Ooops! Worked out the likey co-ordinates inspite of this though!

The coordinates were soon put together, and our granddaughters located the cache before we reached it. A nice wee series. TFTC
Completed Fred's walk this evening. Remembered to write down all the numbers. Nice walk around Kelvin Grove. Found with tommygun9. TFTC
Really dark by the time we got here, I need to go back in the day time to see what the whole place actually looks like. Found it though
Nice series of caches and good spot for the bonus hide.
Thanks for showing me the new walkway
Thanks for showing me the new walkway
Time to be heading North after a long Short week away from home and just enough time to collect a few caches
Saw this little trail and deceided that it looked interesting and worthy of a stop

Was a beautiful day, if a bit hot. Nice final WP, definitely nice to sit down in the breeze. Thanks for this lovely walk.
Really fast find with Mrs Etherlord and the Ethersiblings on a nice sunny day. Great excuse to get out of the house (as if I needed one)
Completing a very pleasant walk on a beautiful afternoon with Tramper Ted. Thanks for this series stardust718, it took us around parts of Palmerston North not visited before and we enjoyed the variety of hides, and the accurate coordinates.
As Edvern says, a very pleasant walk, interesting range of hides, and good co-ordinates. TFTC
