Another drive to Wellington to find some more caches before August Wellywood Wednesday evening event. Thanks boxhill for the cache.

23-Jun-24
Sometimes its best to just ignore the GPS and look in the most obvious spot. TFTC

16-Mar-24
Failed when some debris came crashing down on my leg. Doh! Will return with better footwear Smile

15-Jan-24
An awkward park, across from the driveway but a short walk to GZ.Took a minute for the phone to stop jumping around under the trees, but eventually, it zeroed in.The cache is fine, but as mentioned below, the log is unsignable. Cheers.Sleepy was here!

15-Jan-24
Maintenance carried out. Replaced the container and logsheet.

07-Jan-24

Out for a brief stroll between meetings (online type) while working from home on a sunny Friday.
I've never been to this park before, really is a hidden gem. TFTC
Messaging CO re: cache log.

Didn’t realise you could get back here - lovely bit of nature. Paper too wet to sign. Will bring replacement paper next time I’m here.

09-Oct-22
Another stunning day in the capital (as if it ever isn't lol!) and another chance to get out and about in it to go hunting for caches. Wellington is still rich pickings for me, so one of the hardest choices to make is where to go? I had arranged to meet up with a mate to target a specific cache or two, but that was then and this was now and I ended up deciding to try to clear out a few more in the general Khandallah/Waiwharawhara area.

This was my first stop, and having never been here before I made the classic mistake of thinking that because I had parked about 40m from GZ that this would be quick to get to. Of course it took me a bit longer to get the GZ properly, but I had the whole park to myself so no unwanted attention was garnered.

Once I was searching I immediately spotted the great tree where the cache is but initially ignored it as my GPS was saying "over there". But once I had fruitlessly explored over there, I came back to over here and made the find. No issues to report, apart from a little standing water in the cache which I ejected.

Thanks for bringing me here today.

31-Jul-22
Lovely spot, pretty quick find, but sodden, mushy log as previously noted. Did my best to dry both containers, and added a new bit of paper for future finders, and tried to replace in a way that might keep it a bit dryer. Thanks boxhill for providing so many caching adventures.

30-Jul-22
Found on an intermittent rainy day. Nice park, wore the gardening boots !! A lesson learnt from my last stay in Welly. Log unfortunately mush and I didn't have my caching trousers on with spare paper. CO has kindly given permission to log. Tftc and the pleasant area to see.

18-Jun-22
I was in the area picking up a challenge cache by the same CO and well when you're in the neighbourhood. Got to the cache but unfortunately despite double containers it is sodden and cant be written on (photo attached). I think the container is sitting a little to sideways exposing the seam. Unfortunately (yep the unfortunately's continue) I had a bus behind me coming down the hill to this one and ended up a fair way down the hill before I could park and walked back up without any spare paper or bags Sad - Sorry boxhill paper not replaced. Perhaps the next person can read my log and bring paper. TFTC.

01-Jan-22
A free caching half day for the Crystal half whilst the rest of the family stayed at home and played in the pool. Picked an area that had lots of caches we've not been to before. Parked closest to the cache and spent some time trying to figure out how to get to the location.. Eventually just followed the track away from the location which took me to a great view point of the city and a quick flat walk to the cache. Cache was located in seconds but unfortunately half of the container was filled with water (rescued rusting TB) and emptied out water.. Second container slightly damp but still writable. Thanks for the cache..

Thanks for replacing this one, found it this time. Kids love this playground and the views

31-Jan-21
Took us a while but the kids and I finally found this one after digesting the hint properly Smile TFTC!

I have had some success lately in converting blue frownies into yellow smileys. I had become aware this cache had been replaced after the original was most likely missing when I attempted to find it two years ago. It was all quiet when I arrived at the cache site today and my GPSr took me to the wrong place to begin with. After a few minutes searching, it decided it had fooled me for long enough and basically said "it's actually over this way". There was just enough room in the nicely hidden cache for me to leave the Holibug trackable that I picked up in the Waikato region.

12-Dec-20
Having done a fair amount of 'out of town' caching lately, it was time to show Welly some love today. The plan was a bunch of caches that had been on my radar for a while. This was one of them. I had visited this cache area once before, in the dark (some time ago) and not found anything, but finally here in daylight and with the recent replacement I was confident, and soon had the cache in hand. All safe and dry here, TFTC.

08-Nov-20
Passing by en route to Khandallah, so took the opportunity to stop and find this one, after CO kindly replaced the missing original. Nice find on a bleak day. Tftc!

15-Oct-20
Cache replaced in same spot but in a different place. Hint amended

18-Sep-20
Followed all the hints, but no sign of cache, even in the smaller ones. Been a while since it's been found.

06-Sep-20
What an amazing park! Such a shame there was so much rubbish in the trees around here. Would be a good spot for a CITO! Didn’t have high hopes of finding this one since the last find was in 2018 but thought I’d have a gander regardless. Will keep an eye on it. Thanks for introducing me to the spot anyway!

15-Dec-18
No luck for us today. We had a really good hunt but nothing in sight.

01-Dec-18
I thought I gave this one a pretty good crack today but I found nothing of interest.

29-Oct-18
Sorry to report I was unable to find this one. GPS was very erratic due trees and had a look around the obvious hint but no luck. Will try again sometime.

11-Apr-18
Found the thing

01-Apr-18
No luck. Few trees in area down.

11-Sep-17
Accidentally found this cache while exploring the area with my two year old boy, he loves digging around in spots like this. Beautiful park with an amazing view. Often overlooked this place! Never played geocaching before, but figured I'd set up an account as I now have one in the bag!

30-Aug-17
Drat! Had a good go at this but still no find With a good clue and all quiet down there what could go wrong I suspect my eyes might have deceived me so will wait until another cacher does a better job and then try again

06-Jun-17
What a wonderful spot for families to use for games e.g. rounders, in summer -a bit too damp today for clothes not to be covered in mud. I like these hidden treasures. TFTC and for bringing me here Boxhill.

25-Feb-17
A nice find on a warm but cloudy Sunday when we had the park to ourselves. My other half was almost convinced that I did really want to show him the view and didn't have a cache in mind (ha!) we enjoyed reading the previous log and so after finding we scrambled up the slope to the car. Thank you for placing, all good at GZ.

18-Feb-17
If there is a "wrong" way to do this cache I think I found it. It wasn't particularly clear how you get to this cache and I saw no sign of a park. Furthermore the "obvious" route to the cache was not a T2. Not being entirely sure if the GPS was correct I took the beeline to GZ anyway - down a steep bank. I soon found the cache in a logical hiding place without even consulting the GPS again.

I could see a glimse of grass in the opposite direction to my approach so I figured I should explore and see if the elusive park is over there somewhere. Yes it was - and quite nice it was too with a great view and trees all around the other sides. But where is the proper way in and out?! I spotted a post way over in one corner which looked promising and found the access road which led me straight back to the car. *That* was more like a T2 - or maybe less.

TFTC.

24-Jul-16
This is a well hidden park - I'd driven past it twice before I spotted the track that leads down to the play area. The cache is a straightforward find. As the description says: follow the hint. Log signed, cache replaced and another smiley on the map. TFTC Smile

04-Jun-16
This was the fourth time i had been here, but every previous visit had muggles aplenty. This time there was no-one around. After a slight detour (gps pointing me in the wrong direction) i soon found the cache. The hint certainly helped. TNLNSL. TFTC!!!

Nice hide thanks boxhill. And thankfully away and undercover from the muggle babies.

Great little park for the kids, easy find on a lovely Wellington day

22-Jan-16
nice quiet park with amazing view of the city. Easy find by the kids today.

#1576 Quick find while in neighbourhood. All good at GZ.

Thanks for another smilie.

07-Dec-15
Cycling down from Khandallah. Many tuis in the park today. Easy from the bottom. TFTC

04-Dec-15
I decided to go out on a big day of crazy caching and see how many I can find singlehandedly! I packed some food, plenty of water, gps, spare pens. I had a quick look in the morning and decided on a general direction with plenty of caches and some cool challenges on the way. The weather was great, even too warm at times, with considerable wind. I started after sunrise and went on until sunset, by which time I was rather exhausted - but happy... I kind of ended up somewhere where I was not quite planning to end up, but no problem! I found 124 caches in total - my biggest day going on a lone caching mission. Thank you to all the awesome CO's for placing the caches!!!

19-Nov-15
#362. After finding Cashmore Cachemore the other day, I came back with the pooch to explore another Khandallah dog park. A great find - good looking children's playground and stunning view to enjoy. The locals are lucky to have a nice park like this. An FP for the nice location and straightforward find! Tftc.

13-Nov-15
Went for a play and found there was a geocache - completely the opposite way round to our usual finds! Usually we find somewhere awesome by looking for a cache. This time we found a cache whilst playing somewhere awesome.

Nice easy find. It was the micro cacher's first real find. He now wants to go looking for more treasure.... I might just oblige.

Thanks for the hide in such an awesome place.

25-Jul-15
GPSr wasn't much use - it was pointing me further up the hill. Found after going back to starting point and noticing something that would be a logical hiding place!

Dropped of TB that I've had too long (too many micros that haven't had room!)

04-Jun-15
After sending my vote for the Danish election, I had 20 minutes to spare while waiting for the bus. TFTC

28-Apr-15
Dropped off to get this one while on the way to Year by Year. The park was a bit of a surprise but then Wellington has so many of these little parks dotted around the place. TFTC

16-Apr-15
Introduced our friends to Geocaching

04-Apr-15
great view and no muggles around on a windswept day. TFTC

02-Mar-15
Finally managed to arrange a work trip to Wellington that was more than a fly-in/fly-out … with a spare day up my sleeve, started bright & early on the Zealandia power trail before hunting out a few other 'must-finds', challenges etc. Was driving nearby & thought this seemed a potential spot for a bit of a break, rather than simply munching my assorted picnic supplies on the run and it was perfect. Lovely little park & a nice quiet spot. Cache all good, TFTC

21-Feb-15
Tftc. We initiated some muggle friends who live in the area. Easy first find.

14-Feb-15
Another quick one thanks

05-Feb-15
Obvious but I was over thinking and not looking. Uphill

24-Jan-15
Good to come back to this spot where I spent hours with friends as a child playing in the bush. It has changed a bit since then and the swings dont give you splinters now. Had time to sit and remember a friend who died not too far from here. TFTC

16-Jan-15
A favourite park of mine with wonderful views. Thanks for bringing me back. TFTC

24-Nov-14
#156. Another little park we never knew existed. Great views of the harbour. Nice hiding spot. TFTC

18-Oct-14
Nice park here with awesome views. Happy to find this cache on a day of many DNFs. TFTC!

08-Oct-14
Today I had some time to spare in Wellington on my way to Melbourne so decided to come out here and try and find a few caches. I thought this area seemed a bit familiar. When I read the listing and it mentioned a previous cache here I thought I might have found that one. I've checked it and yes I did find it about 5 years ago. As far as this new one goes, I'm glad I didn't try to go straight for it from the road! No problems accessing it the proper way. TFTC, Biggles.

20-Sep-14
Great location for fireworks night must remember to head back there

13-Sep-14
Pristine. Tftc.

06-Sep-14
Found on a rather wet Saturday morning run. Overshot the mark at first, but a rethink and using the hint soon had me a GZ and the find quickly followed. TFTC.

24-Aug-14
Took the hard route down the bank to start this one off! would of been much easier from the bottom, nevertheless the cache was quickly in hand thanks to the hint! nice spot TFTC Smile

17-Aug-14
Find #2043. Cleaning up a few caches still taunting me on the map. Pleased to be able to get parking nearby then a quick walk down to the park in the sun. What a great view. I've never been here before - just imagine the price of this real estate. Back tracked towards the cache and spotted the bigger and the rest was an easy find. Took the shortcut up through the bush to get back to the car. SL TFTC

16-Aug-14
Another off the list caches. I remember the last time I visited the park, but no muggles at 5:30 on a wintery afternoon. TFTC

05-Jul-14
#466 nice new looking cache. Ty

25-Jun-14
Perfect timing. Rain had stopped and I walked down to GZ. Found a nice little park that must have one of the best views in Wellington. Didnt even know it was here. Harbour very choppy and big container ship coming into harbour. Stunning bright rainbow with one tip in Petone and the other by airport. Cache find straight forward and in great condition. TFTC.

06-Apr-14
Finally found it. Our first Geocache Smile. The look on my daughter's face when she found it was priceless!

30-Mar-14
Good hunting, first find with mardyandson

01-Feb-14
We were heading up Mt Kaukau to bag our penultimate trig for a certain peak challenge Wink, and decided it was a good idea to swing by Homebush Park en route. I can remember finding a cache here a few years back, so good to see a replacement as this must be the playground with the best view in NZ.
StreetWalker quickly found the cache while my Oregon was still dithering about where GZ was. He then took the direct line back to the car, while I took the more sedate route. TFTC.

01-Feb-14
#7040. Had been saving this as a possible dot-dot day cache, but with a number of possibilities closer to home, we thought we'd pick this one up on the way past. Finding a park proved tricky, involving a couple of U turns (which luckily used up enough time for a parked car to depart). The family in the playground probably wondered why we headed off to a quiet corner of the park. Good to see this cache replaced; this is definitely a park with a view. TFTC.

30-Jan-14
A nice day for a walk so I visited this cache. As I was in work clothes I approached from the top. Wink Nothing like a little adventure.
TFTC

22-Jan-14
cheers.... didn't even know this park was here Smile

21-Jan-14
A nice quick find on the return visit this evening, helped vastly by the coordinates and the actual cache location not being hundreds of kilometers apart Twisted . TFTC

17-Jan-14
Thanks for the cache. It was a bit difficult but got there in the end thanks to the hint. Great challenge. I was first to sign the new logbook! Smile

12-Jan-14
The missing cache has been replaced. The original seems to have taken an extended visit to the "Naki" and it doesn't look like it it'll be back Twisted.

31-Dec-13
No luck here today

14-Dec-13
Had the place to myself apart from an elderly couple sitting on the seat and a couple of schnausers who wanted to help me find the cache. Easily found. TNLNSL. TFTC boxhill

21-Nov-13
Taking a detour cos I missed the trail to my planned caches. A find's a find. Tftc

A walk in strong wind and rain!

13-Oct-13
Quick find once we ditched the GPSr and instead relied on our eyes. Spotted an interesting shoe returning to nature nearby. Covered the cache a little better as it was quite exposed. TFTC

02-Oct-13
Keeping up the day to day find rate to achieve 100 days continuing caching. A quick find in a known location as the previous cache was in a similar location

02-Oct-13
I've been to this park twice now, both times to do the same thing! Make hard work of this, but found it eventually. TFTC, #5189

28-Sep-13
A quick early morning find and a touch of déjà vu. Thanks for the cache boxhill

26-Sep-13
A great spot for a playground for sure. A nice easy walk and a quick find on my way past, just on 5 years now since my last visit here!

Also on the list of lookers for the previously missing geocache. Glad to find today's GZ quickly and in the first place I looked. Breezy and some slight white tops on the harbour.

Cache # 1,256 - a quick find today, in the same spot I would have expected the previous cache to be (and where we looked). Like Jardis, we too had been foiled by the previous cache going missing, and am glad that one is back here again. Safely hidden away. TNLNSL. TFTC!

10-Sep-13
Quick find this morning. Love the view! Blue skies, but choppy white-tops on the harbour, as a nast galeforce southerly is forecast for the afternoon. Decided wisest course of action was to get a cache early today.

TFTC!

08-Sep-13
Taking advantage of a warmish, sunny, spring day to be out and about doing some Sunday caching. As you do.
This is a spot we've visited before, and was just as pleasant today as when we called previously. Great views to the south.
Cache find was straightforward, and cache in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too Big Grin
The Turtle strikes again!

04-Sep-13
Was quite sure I would not get smuggled due to a strong southerly hitting this park head on.

Nice quick find, unlike the other cache that was quite close to gz that was a no show [8]

31-Aug-13
In its old incarnation I failed to locate this cache, which caused some consternation. Quick find today, as cache was a bit exposed so i re-covered a bit better. I took the roundabout approach to GZ, but opted for straight up when returning up the car. Spotted two likely looking cachers as I emerged from the bush! TFTC

26-Aug-13
Cache is back in its hiding place again. Thanks again to 1Grunta.

06-Aug-13
Found with 1Grunta

06-Aug-13
A few minor location issues to sort out here. The cache has been removed for safe keeping in the mean time. So no cache to find at the moment. Thanks to 1Grunta for his helping hand here.

06-Aug-13
Headed out in the rain to make my find for the day.
A familiar park.
Camo bag didn't really do its job, but then the cache was laying out in the open on the ground.
Couldn't decide where the cache was supposed to be, so decided the best approach was to take it home and notify the cache owner.

27-Jul-13
I've brought my kids to the playground a few times but this is the first time I've thought to look for any caches here. A good wee spot. TFTC

13-Jul-13
I've been here before. Found after a brief search
