After some comms with the CO, we located this one on our second attempt buried underground. We cleaned up the area, and rehid the cache. Log book will need replacing and have messaged the CO! TFTC and being so responsive. Looking forward to finishing this geoart.
My phones gps was pointing to the wrong spot, but quick find once I looked further afield. Log is dry but scruffy and will need a new sheet soon. Tftc
#285. This one was a little off from the coordinates for me by 10 metres, explains why I was searching the wrong vegetation. Though I should really had given a better perimeter search I ended up getting a bit of helping hand on this one. Another Kiwi marked off. TFTC.
Finally made it back here to log this kiwi cache. Thanks being part of the series
We began the Kiwi GeoTrail mission back in December of 2014! Yea I know good things take time but today we decided to get out there and make a bit of a dent in the puzzles we have completed but not yet logged.
7th cache of the day and another quick park & grab. Nice quick find however there was no plastic bag around log sheet so it was slightly damp but still managed to sign it ok.

Last one for the day and a quick find, shielded from the traffic which was good. TFTC
One of my sons in Whangarei is going on an OE. He sold his car to his brother Tim in Dunedin and fortunately for me Tim wanted me to drive the car down. Of course I jumped at the idea of a geocaching roadie. I've had lots of puzzles solved for such a long time so geoarts were the main target of the trip.
In Palmy area I wanted the shield series and the 20/20 geoart. Then Wairarapa was stickman (which we ran out of time for), the new M geoart and some archived skindo challenges. Wellington was finishing off the kiwi geoart. Nelson I had a few challenges I wanted before heading to Christchurch. It was family time there and perhaps the smile series but time ran out again. Off to Dunedin for the airplane geoart. Then it was time to fly home to say goodbye to my son heading to Denmark.
It was a wonderful trip and fantastic weather apart from one afternoon. Now it's time to start writing the massive backlog of logs which is taking a while.
It was great to have my friend Supernanny come along on the trip for company. Today she was catching up with her family and I teamed up with 0B80B8 - a fellow team G0LD mate from Whangarei.
This puzzle series I started years ago. Some I solved in September 2015. I collected some at the Wellington Mega in 2018 but time was against me as well as roadworks on Gray's Rd. I had to resolve some as the puzzles as hides had changed since I started solving them. Glad to finish these off today. The cache was a quick find. Thanks for the Geoart

Down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but today dawned bright and clear with almost no wind.
So while the other half had a sleep in, I headed out for a walk to pick up a few local caches. The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and so I had made a point of solving them all in the last month, so they were the prime target this morning.
Didn't take long at GZ to locate the cache, despite the muggle across the road washing her car, who didn't pay any attention to me at all and I was soon able to sign the log and then replace securely as found. TFTC

Finally found this one after about three times of looking. I made it harder than it needed to be TFTC
Just four of the series to find now! I've been ticking them off in dribs and drabs over the last few years - unfortunately not quick enough to prevent missing out on a few that have been archived - but I'm now pleased to get those last four ticked off today. These four are on a busy road that I thought might quieten down a bit when the new Transmission Gully motorway opened (3 days ago), so I've been waiting (and waiting) for the big day to arrive - but despite that it seems the road is still very busy!
Lucky last! I've actually stopped here a couple of times and not had any luck. I was simply looking in the wrong place (which was very exposed). Finally got it looking in a less obvious - but perhaps more orthodox? - location. And that's a wrap! Thanks to Saroc and all the other COs - original and replacements - for this great series.

KTG and I started working on the Geotrail. We have spent the last few weeks working out all the clues.... now it's time to turn the kiwi into 1 big smiley face. TFTC
A lovely quiet spot, especially given how close it is to a busy road. Nice quick find, with . TFTC. KTG
Fun puzzle and delightful spot although I wonder if it's ever really quiet here! FTFC SAROC
Heading to our zone as part of the beach cleanup event, grabbed this on the way - having solved a few months ago.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Out caching with TharntheHalken, doing some more of the Kiwi GT. Found after a short hunt. All good in cache, tftc!
Walking around the area - picking up my first set of solved Geo Trails on a gorgeous day. This one called me straight to it - arrived and just walked up straight up to the exact right spot! You got to love when that happens. All good here and cache safe and well. Now back up and over to where my car is. TFTC.
Have spent last week solving these puzzles with just 6 unsolved. Spending the weekend in Porirua so decided to start collecting as many as I can today. Quick find. Cache all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
Found with 13YO. A quick find once we found the right hint item. Almost ended up in someone's garden . TFTC
I have lost my notebook! When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a notebook or, as in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks. I mean, I can see the final on the map, and sometimes that sparks a memory, but mostly - no.
Many thanks for a great geoart. I have been saving this for when I can do the whole lot in one day.

Running around Pahatahanui Inlet today to capture a family of Kiwis roaming around here. Got #7 sorted. Cheers
Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving abilities.
Day 23 - Saturday, 4 January 2020. Wellington. It the Kiwi series at Paramata today thats been on The Seagnoids 'must do' list for some time. Then The Seagnoid ships out. Sadly our 3 week holiday to Taranaki is over today.
Seen heaps, done heaps. Loved it. The Kiwi series is our finale. Cheers

I tried and failed to understand these clues 3 or 4 years ago when new to geocaching and soon gave up. Now my son MightyMicra has started we had a combined look at them and finally got over the hurdle. Cracked a dozen or so today! TFTC.
Today is the 14th day of our journey to the south island. I had planned to complete the Kiwi Geotrail before we head to Wellington to take the ferry to the south island. Having arrived near the Lake yesterday I was able to pick up seven of the series on our way to the campsite after visiting Rivendell and eating dinner in the Upper Hut area. We spent the night at the edge of the lake and after eating breakfast I started to collect the Kiwi Caches at around 9:30am.
I mannaged to find 55 caches today, 54 of which to complete the Kiwi. It took me a total of 10 1/2 hours to complete the trail at 8:00pm in a rather slow pace.
This was # 38 of 55 caches today.
And another puzzle that took me a bit longer to solve.
Once at GZ we pulled over safely and I made a quick find. Tftc.

Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).
I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.
#53 of 70 today. Started looking in what we assume was the previous location for this cache then checked the hint and made a quick find a short distance away.

I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.
In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.
Parking was a bit of an issue for this one, but I ended up parking up around the corner from this one and then walking back to it. Once at GZ, we started searching in what we thought was the right location, but in fact we found the cache a short distance away in accordance with the Hint.
Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.

I DNF last time but today it was a quick and easy find in its new location, cache in good condition, TFTC
With regards the updated requirements for cache placement, had a look at this one and decided I'd move it - just a wee bit. Hint updated. New cache container but left the existing log as it still OK and has a bit of space still on it.
Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

We manged to complete the caches in a day (minus 2) and were truely warn out after our activities.
thanks to the original placer and the cachers who have taken over maintainence of the trail.

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...
Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... We enjoyed solving each of the puzzles in this series. Each one provided just the right amount of challenge. What a great variety of authentic kiwiana puzzles...
We managed to find most of the Kiwis in their hides. Some were in a lot better condition than others, and we can imagine how challenging it might be to maintain some of them. We found the speed and flow of traffic, and tight parking made things difficult at times. We learnt to be resourceful and resilient as the day drew on. In all, thanks to each of the COs for your input into this series... Apologies for the cut and paste logs. TFTP and TFTC.

Out caching the GeoArt with warfi & purdiepurdie; past the middle of the day & collective enthusiasm was waning a bit...
We had solved these puzzles over the last little while in anticipation of the Mega, but I wouldn't generally recommend doing them all in 1 hit ! The "northern wing" was definitely more fun than the southern side.
Thanks for maintaining these caches, CaligulaNZ.

43rd of the kiwi geoart puzzle day with gely57. This was the hardest part of the day in terms of finding safe places to park. Took awhile to find. TFTC.
Found it out with the family. Delayed logging it due to being busy. TFTC
We thought parking might be better from the satellite image. Quick find once we were in the right place. TFTC
# 1041 The Planetary Challenge encouraged me to revisit this series of caches that I had solved about four years ago and hadn't yet got around to collecting, as I had left the area and was now back. I was happy that in four years only four had to be resolved, so that is a great effort for a big series like this!
With DangerSAM and JimmyNZ in tow, we went for a walk in a shower of rain on a Saturday afternoon to pick up a few of the series nearer to the train track. On our way back we thought we would get some park and grabs. Felt very exposed once again, as seems to be a common theme in this series but managed to find the spot with not too much bother. Cache is in good condition and replaced where i had found it!
Thanks to all CO and cachers who have contributed to this geo art and kept it going.

So Gr33nslime had been going on about this solar, universe challenge thing (?) for a few days and with the weekend approaching, we decided it was time to dust off the old geocaching shoes and go out on the hunt again. With master DangerSAM in tow we knew that we would have to be targeted at the caches we were going after and Gr33nslime was the one that inevitably came up with the answer. Tucked away in her geocaching tool box was her list of solved mystery caches. Turns out she had been really fastidious and solved a whole lot of the Kiwi GeoTrail series over in the Porirua Harbour area. This seemed like a good plan so we started looking for groupings of the mysteries and planned from there. Gr33nslime soon discovered however that some of the caches had moved and worse the puzzles changed! After a few hours though she had managed to correct enough of them that we could make a plan to hit them today. After parking up next to the Marine View boat ramp (with the ever watchful fisheries officers on watch) we bundled DangerSAM off into his DangerPram and set off up the coast. Dispite the rain we managed to hit a few of the caches. Really disappointing the first one we tried wasn’t there though. After getting a couple we drove back towards the valley with DangerSAM giving commentary on the way. A quick stop up a windy side street and Gr33nslime was off again, poking through bushes, mud and all sorts to get more caches. Felt very exposed in some of these locations, but points were needed so off we pushed. I have to hand it to Gr33nslime for her numerous finds today, I just seemed to be there to find one and give moral support. But at least we have gotten off planet earth on our little exploration.
I'm trying a variation today. I stopped here for a look on my way to work this morning, rather than on my way home afterwards. What a lovely morning for a drive round the Inlet.
I was nice and early. The sun was just coming up and there weren't too many cars driving past. It took me a little while to figure out where it would be.
The cache is in ok condition.
Thank you

GIRL GUIDING COOKIES 2 DOLLARS EACH 200M! There was a sign in the way where we think the cache might be. WE WILL BE BACK!
Nice easy find. Accurate coordinates. All in good condition. Thanks for the find.
#389. Nice easy park and grab on a trip to visit my brother. The rain stopped long enough for a dry retrieval.

On Friday night Mr watcache said do you want to go for a drive to Porirua on saturday after I finish work, I'm like really we been that way a bit this week already, he had seen something he wanted to show me so ok we set off just before lunch. stopped a few times along the way to look at particular vehicles and vans. After that it was time to get a few caches this being the first for the day. didn't take us to long to locate make our mark on the log and place the cache back where we found it A lot of traffic and a few muggles, a car was there but no one in it luckily for us, there was no one interested in what we were up to. cache was all good here. TFTPC now onto the next one
Found the new caches on Te Araoa track this morning, now its time to do some more solved Kiwis. A straightforward find. Thanks for the cache.
Muggles in cars, muggle sightseers, muggle dog walkers, muggle neighbour… managed to retrieve & sign in there somewhere. TFTC

We looked around in a few likely spots before finding this one. What a stunning place and view. TFTC
Took a bit to locate this one. great view across the water. Left Havelock North at 5am this morning picking up jordiporsche on the way. An overnight stay in welly to grab as many caches as we can including all the kiwi geo art puzzle's. Log signed as b&p.Tftc XboomstickX. Find # 3206
There is a convenient temporary place to park right next to this cache but some clown had taken it upon themselves to abandon their car there for a long time even though it's not a proper place to park. So I parked in a real parking area about 150m away and took a short pleasant stroll back to the cache area. Considering the possible hides available here I'm surprised it was so close to the road. However a "classic" hide made it easy to find without having to rumage around in view of the traffic. TFTC.
