I had parked in the nearby parking area and wandered over. After reading the hint I got confused but once at GZ it all became clear. Well done. Thank you for the placement.

WENZ is New Zealand's 5th Mega Event ever and for months I have been anticipating in attending it. It is the first Mega Event that I have ever attended and sadly I could only come for one day, so early on Saturday morning my father and I got in the car and drove our way towards Upper Hutt for a hectic day of geocaching. In the end it was a spectacular day where we managed to found 67 geocaches somehow throughout the whole day, see a lot of new faces, catch up with friends and just have an altogether amazing time.

Our one day at WENZ is coming to a close, so I planned to find quite a few more geocaches while we made our way back home to keep putting my numbers up. We found 9 geocaches on the way home and a couple geocaches that were much needed to complete the 11 geocache types in one day.

We had planned to find a few geocaches in Greytown before finishing up and heading home. There was a couple geocaches I needed for my 11 types in a day and a few geocaches that I had set out to complete today.

We were heading towards the Virtual geocache, to complete our 11 geocache types in a day and stopped along our way to quickly find this one. It seems to need a spot of maintenance the geocache container has rusted and was broken, but the idea is really good. I wish I could have seen it when it was in better condition. TFTC wascox, it is always fun to see what your geocaches are like!!

Clever hide. Didn't take long to track this one down. TFTC. Cheers Smile

07-Oct-18
We were passing through town and had time to stop for a cache. We picked this one. GPS led us straight to it. Loved the hide. Thank you!

22-Sep-18
Hmmm. Ok. Thanks for that.

16-Sep-18
Yay. Definitely think outside the box. No natives around but coordinates are right! Cool find. Thanks!

09-Sep-18
Gmg. Took about 3 or 4 gose and maybe 2 hour scratching my head to find this one but found it. Lol.

07-Sep-18
I have found it

20-Aug-18
Great row of trees even in winter. Not many natives though.

I have heard about the history between Arbor Day and Greytown before but had forgotten it. Used to stay in the motels across the road a lot when working in the area in the past. Good teamwork here - one reading the description which lead to a quick find. Last cache of the day unfortunately but we've had a great time driving round exploring this special part of the country chasing little containers and the odd hidden creature to add to the tally. TFTC # 12,736

12-Jul-18
OK it wasn't me that found this one but I did read the description and come up with the idea that lead to the almost instant find. Thanks for the awesome hide Big Grin!

07-Jul-18
Just have a good dig around and think outside the square ....awesome hidey hole

06-Jul-18
Excellent hideyhole but may need to reduce log thickness a little as getting damaged being taken in and out. TFTC

Despite all the millions of leaves a good dig around and found it. With Blue Owl.

23-Jul-17
I assumed the "arbour" theme would relate to a tree and the GPS seemed to agree and be pointing at one. However the leaves were a metre deep against the adjacent wall and a bit of a scratch around revealed nothing vaguely cache-like. Maybe worth another visit once the leaves have dispersed.

08-Apr-17
Found with troy222. Log book was out of container which looks damaged and lid missing. Needs maintenance. Tftc!

08-Apr-17
Fluked it while trying to work out what kind of tree it was. Found it with Jubey01. TFTC!

15:38 number 3942. Clever!

Cache #3,531. A big cache run through the Wairarapa with Infoferret after we completed the Pylons trail up the Rimutaka Hill earlier today. TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache! A typically clever Wascox cache!

10-Dec-16
Passing through town. Had time to see if I could grab one or two. GLAD to get onto this one pretty quick, but great camouflage. Cache log in good order thanks to waterproof paper. TFTC.

30-Oct-16
Up bright and early for another trip to the Wairarapa to collect some more caches. Off to Greytown and Martinborough areas - I've not been to these two towns before even in pre-caching days. Really liked both of them and will have to come back to explore some more.

I didn't know that Greytown started the Arbor Day movement in New Zealand. When I was at school, I had the honour of planting a tree for Arbor Day, as I was the youngest student in the school! Cache was quickly in hand - nice camo. TFTC

28-Oct-16
Found on the way through town.

08-Oct-16
Out for a day around the Greytown area to catch up on quite a few caches that have sprung up in the last little while. Not too bad a day for it, and a good chance to get the mtb out on the river trail. Good to have fozzmiester along for the day too.

This was my second attempt to find this cache. I don't know why I failed the first time as it seemed easy today.

Picnic stop on our way to Wellington. Great to grab the cache while here.

06-Jul-16
We looked for this a couple of months ago with no success. Found it straight away today and realised autumn can mean it is harder to see things sometimes. Great cache and excellent camouflage.

06-Jul-16
Great hide.

29-Jun-16
It's late in the day and time is pressing. There's nothing obvious here. I have an idea what I should be looking for, but it's probably buried in all the autumn leaves. This will have to wait for another day.

25-Jun-16
Nice quick find tftc.

19-Jun-16
Took about 30 min. Decided the coords were wrong (they weren't) and after spending some time debating whether the clue was literal or a play on words finally found it exactly where we originally thought it was and exactly the form we first thought it would be in.

Autumn is definitely the hardest time to find this one .... gets a favourite from us as it was a satisfying find and showed that things are not always as cryptic as we think they are.

#2258. I headed over to the Wairarapa today to pick up more of the skindo 2:2 series and any other nearby caches as I moved around the region. Discovered early on that GSAK must have an upload limit for waypoints as a number of the caches I targeted were not showing on my GPS. So had to put in an emergency call to Mrs GSEL at home who gave me the Lats and Longs for a number of targeted caches. This was the second cache of the day. Found quickly. The container has lost its cap but the log was still dry. Signed and replaced as found. Thanks for hiding the cache here.

24-Apr-16
This is a great hide and could have had me looking for a lot longer if I hadn't read the other logs (esp as it was going dark). GPS pretty good for me. I think there's only space for about one more on log book.
Thanks!

22-Apr-16
After overnighting at Wairarapa Lake Domain we are making our way north to Ashhurst, via a rather circuitous route. We had stopped at a public dump station not far from here, and when we saw a nearby Trad with plenty of Favourite Points we decided to head over and check it out. Very pleased that we did too. Nicely done. Adding another point. Thanks.

21-Apr-16
Quickly spotted. Cache container looking a bit worse for wear. Thanks for the cache.

One of the many caches we found on our campervan journey from Lower Hutt to Tauranga. A mighty and enjoyable journey through many great and iconic parts of the north island. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to new places. Sorry for the generic log.

14-Jan-16
Thank you for the cache. Beaut' night for caching in Greytown.

On a special mission to Greytown today to check out a few of wascox's caches that seem to be gathering quite a few favorite points.

We were initially scratching our heads with this one as we couldn't see the Podocarpus Totara anywhere. Upon closer inspection the penny dropped and cache was in hand. Another sneaky hide by the CO. SL TFTC

I had to trust my GPS and not my first instinct here.

Lid has gone from cache and log is almost full. May need some live soon.

Cache left as found, however I don't think it is right.
Final count today is 43. Wb-jnr and I headed off on a half day to the Wairarapa after doing some chores around home. We ended up being just under nine hours cache to cache, however escaped trouble when we got home by stopping for a bottle of wine. I was cautioned that it worked this time but not to expect it to work every time Sad

We had a great day and loved the significant differences between this and some of our recent full day caching adventures whilst in Ireland earlier this month. We always enjoy local caching with the following (which have been contrary to some of our Ireland experiences):
- Almost all of the caches we attempted were actually there! Couldn't believe how many in Ireland needed maintenance or at the very least checking. Some days we planned on getting 40 which should have been easy, however came home with only half as many smilies. I think the best day was 24!
- The co-ords are pretty accurate. If you get to Ireland, expect some of the coords to be 20m out - frequently.
- On a couple of caches here I found some prickly stuff. The amount of caches in Ireland where you wish you had leather gloves and sleeves was incredible. Not to mention even a gentle brush against the nettle causes a stinging sensation for a couple of hours - just in time for another brush Sad

All in all, a really lovely day caching back near home. Beautiful weather and a great day of caching company with my son. Thanks to all the cache owners Smile

A quick stop by after a grocery run. Parked up metres away from the cache. From the car I assessed possible hiding places, but nothing seemed obvious. Here I am, fustrated at the cache owners inability to give accurate coordinates. So I head to the closest trees in the vacinity and start searching frantically. After a solid search I gave up. Started walking back to the car, and the coords point me back to where I started. One more attempt and I came up successful! Had to laugh at myself when I finally stumbled on this one. Unassuming hide indeed. Thanks for a lengthy detour! Now to go home and explain to the lady why it took half an hour to buy shampoo!

Umm READ the clue. Great find, TFTC

I was at a local school so after i had finished my task there it was time to get a couple of caches while in the area. This was a very interesting site. The avenue of trees would once have had room for the style of transport in those days. Certainly fit 2 lanes of fast moving traffic of today. thank you for this cacche and another smiley face. See photo.

Poor Kjwx was distracted by the enticement of exploring the old hospital, but having read the hint and surveying the surroundings I knew exactly what I was looking for. Voila! Another excellent Wascox contribution to the caches of the Wairarapa. TFTC

Wascox cache No 3 on today's Wairarapa road trip with JardisLikeTardis and geo-dog Coca. Took a few moments to find the clever hide at GZ, not helped by the fact I was more interested in drooling over the old Greytown Hospital nearby than helping my geo-pal search. TFTC

Found Started out about 10 am this morning on the bikes with a heap of caches saved from when we were down here last, thanks to all the cos and Wilcox for the time and effort put into some of the ones we came across, after roughly 20km we managed 19. Lovely day and now sitting back enjoying a well earned beer. Tftc I have added paracord key chains to the ones I could. - I love this town and if it hadn't been for all the caches here I wouldn't have had the chance to enjoy my stay.
