Aha! That is where the turnoff to Campbells road is! I have tried to locate this track several times, but never managed to find it (better not hire me as a guide). Now, thanks to this cache, I did Thank you so much!
An unexpected day off work calls for a bit of a hike! My mission this year is to knock of as many caches I can on the walkways around home. Most of which are not just a leisurely stroll!!! I love it up Mt Cargill so what better place to start. This one was a nice easy find. I mean how can you miss a bucket in the middle of the Bush TFTC
Never been up here before and what a great hike. Kiss and dogs loved it. I liked standing still and listening to the birdsong. Tftc
Finally logging some finds before heading out again. TFTC. Found with Trailrunner01
Been on this track so many times, never thinking there might be treasures nearby! TFTC

Today we were in several nice places near Dunedin and visited some caches. On the the way up to the mountain we found this big traditional. TFTC!

Super-fast find, as it's so big.

Amazing what a threatening sky and knowing where you’re going do for time. Quick dash up and down just shy of 40 mins. Dropped some swag that could be used to sign log at a push but kept tight hold of pen this time - never did find yesterdays
Forgot a pen!!! Noted to return and sign the log book. I’m sure the girls won’t mind
Another in a series of glorious days here, so I took the new boots out for another breaking-in session. This one has been on the radar for a while. The pen is missing (and I didn't want to surrender my only one, sorry) so now needs a pen. Thanks for another one, debsnz.
While Jo was at a graduation reunion Joe and the dog took the chance to have a walk over Mt Cargill and down the Leith Valley. Coordinates initially had me looking too far down off the track.
Third today. Took a while since I was on the wrong side then on a trapping track. And holy hell it was hard to open!! Cache was quite easily seen from the track though... something to think about. Anyway tftc
Did this walk a few days ago with PC sniff and the dogs but didn't have time to log it til now. Was a quick find on a nice day. Tftc
Getting puffed now! Thankfully, the size of this (generous!) made the hunt relatively painless...cheers debs!
DNF. Sadly we ran out of time on this one, and it started becoming a bit too treacherous for us as the rain was making the ground unsafe to walk on. I shall return when the conditions are more favourable.
After walking the loop with Mrs and Miss Daywalk and Katie W from Watts road it was nice to find a cache at the Campbells track. Great walk on a lovely winters morning.
Fun cache. Didn't have a pen with us and none in cache. We will have to come again to sign log and leave a pen.
This took a lot longer than it should have done!!! Was convinced I had the right bush...but turns out I was on the wrong side of the tracks When I looked in the right direction I saw it straight away TFTC!
A quick find on the run back down the hill. There was a little bit of water in the bottom of the cache but the logbook was dry and safe in its bag.
TFTC!

Out on a bike ride followed by a walk up the hill on a very pleasant winters day. Everything nice and dry inside

I don't think I had ever noticed this track crossing the main Cargill walkway. Definitely worth exploring, I expect. Easy find exactly where my Garmin said it should be.

a bit off the path but good fun for the kids!

Found this one with two friends after a long day Geocaching that took us through North East Valley, up Mount Cargill and down again via Mount Cargill Road and the Leith Valley. We found 16 caches on our 7 hour walk with no DNFs (although we were about to give up on a few). TFTC!! Great stuff in this one, so it gets a favourite.
I did a bit of floundering around before finding this one. The bush was wet with overnight rain and I got a soaking. Initially I gave this one a pass, but I had another go on my way back down the track and this time searched a bigger catchment. Much better when you look on the right side of the track. There is more to do so I will return when the weather improves.
Which tree fern? Well, this question was quickly solved as we could see the mega bucket! Lots of goodies but no easter egg!! The cache is dry and in good condition.
Found it on my way to Mt Cargill. There is a lot of stuff in there. Wow. Thank you.
I had found this one before but I forgot to log it earlier, quickly found it but took a while to reach it.

Came down to Dunedin for the weekend for a competition on Saturday, and combined this with caching while I was at it
Mum was out of town, but so had some sibbling bonding and went out caching with my brother.
This was also on our way today - As everything is on the way with caching...
It took us FOREVER to find! We were sort of like how could a 10L bucket be hiding here?! But it was... simply, don't follow GPS. Just search everywhere instead... haha.
We were actually already about to give up, as our TAF was not replying, and PAF was not an option today... But then spotted it on my one last scour!! HA!
And typically, then TAF replied . I think what threw us off was people saying they spotted it from path. We figured it had to be closer.

Awesome cache. Sadly I forgot a pen/pencil. I did leave a sword and a an eraser. Thanks
We went past it for 70m before turning back and eventually finding it! Best treasures weve found in a cache yet but didnt take any as we had nothing to replace with. Also no pens inside so take one before you embark! Tftc
First find of the day - a good size cache to get started with. Managed to spot it from the path. TNLNSL, thanks!
PC Sniff and I looked for this one on our way down the hill after the CITO. We had obviously been engrossed in conversation on the way up and walked 100m past GZ without noticing his GPS had beeped. It took a bit of searching because the GPS was quite inaccurate, but the clue was true and the bucket not being camo helped. Thanks for placing this cache. Despite the weather being inclement at times it was a great day.
Found with jrb5050 after cito, my gps was quite a way of but a search for the hint object was a big help TFTC
A straightforward find, of a large, well stocked cache, after initially looking on the wrong side of the track. We then struggled to get the lid off the cache, not realising it unscrewed! TFTC
Out for a nice long run today up and down Mount Cargill. Stopping for caches is a good excuse for a breather!!
I'll use this one for the ramblers reward challenge too!

Good winter walk to find this one. Well stocked. Continued on to the picnic area, before calling it a day. Kia ora for the cache Debsnz.
Nice day and needed to stretch the legs so went for a wander up Mt Cargill. GPS can play tricks under the trees but a short detour off the track and we found the bucket
The plan was to collect this one on the way out, but due to the closure of a connecting track I ended up following the road for a while and restarting at Bethunes Gully - thanks for placing a good sized cache, a pleasure to find - especially after I decided not to look at the gps any more as it was going around the circles (and on the other side of the track...) and follow the hint good to get this off the bucket list
Well my GZ was a bit out, but the hint was a saviour. Took a bit to open the cache, but managed in the end to sign in then reseal and replace. THLN. HOTA

Out for a family walk with the dog, a lovely cool & sunny Autumn day.

First find for the afternoon. Wish I'd read Daywalk's post, as it took me some time to work out how to get the lid off the cache. Useful as an anti muggle device, perhaps? Re-covered well after replacing. +TB.[^]
Thanks Debs.

Not to far to the bottom now, track in a bit better condition on the lower half of the track . - Bitsprayer
Getting closer now so the feet were speeding up, waited whilst a couple of muggles passed by looking at us stangely and then began.
This was a nice downhill walk - slide on a cool morning and the last find sealed this well rewarded walk for me.
Thanks
erninz

I didn't need the paper for this one. GPS "beeped"; not that side - probably this side - must be there. Thanks fo0r the big size. I left a DVD which I have been carrying around for a while. R.
Looked like a bit of a track off to the cache but only three people have been there so presumably not a cacher trail. Just out for a quiet stroll from Bethunes Gully so only went this far. Will do the two further up another time. TFTC.
Went for a wander up the well trodden path in the early evening. Found the bucket and had a look through but took nowt.
Thinking there was a meeting where there would be talking about hill walking, I decided not to go for the other two higher up the hill. Damn no meeting!
Ah well, there's a long weekend ahead.

After a "Bad Thursday" we were looking forward to a relaxing walk. But, as it does at the most awkward times, the GPS decided not to turn on (never buy an Oregon 450 - they have all sorts of bugs). Batteries out, back, try again, no, swear, repeat sequence... So back to the car, intending to come back after tea. Halfway down North Rd the GPS finally turned on, so we had our walk after all. Just lovely under the trees on a hot day, and only half an hour up to the cache.
The GPS had Mrs Daywalk right on the entrance of the track to Campbells Rd - great to have a cache as a "turnoff marker"! But astute Mr Daywalk checked out the possibilities on the other side. Hmm, a screwtop pail- first time we've encountered one of those - and an interesting assortment of goodies to entertain us. Left a mask.
Congratulations on your first large cache debsnz!

Had decided to Geocache on Thursday and do the chores today, until the possibility of some first to finds. Go for it. FTF at 9.20am. TFTC Took TB, left TB
