We decided o do the walk around Valley Lake today, and it was blowing a gale. After a bit of a search I decided to use the hint, but it did not help much. Muggle Husband was much more help, as he found the cache by falling over it, bless him.

14-Jul-24
Looked for about 20 minutes. There are a lot of bushes, so 'second bush off the track' didn't really help.

We are travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are in Beautiful Mt Gambier for a few days, soaking up the amazing things this area has to offer. We especially love the bush, the back roads, and the wild southern seas. TFTC LNCU.

We followed the path up to here from the nearby multi. It was a surprisingly easy walk given the elevation. The views in all directions were great!
We found the nice big cache and signed the log, before heading back down the hill.

Had a spare minute while in the area so checked in on this old cache, to my surprise it's still in fantastic condition. Plenty of room in the log book, poor guys still in jail. Only one of our builds for this series that has lasted the journey.

Found during a caching trip with e.gregory1 to south-western Victoria and south-eastern South Australia for a few days. Day 1 saw us travel from Adelaide to Keith, the back-roads past Bordertown to Frances, Edenhope, Harrow, Coleraine, Wannan, Hamilton, Byaduk, Koroit and down to Warrnambool. That night we camped out behind the coastal dunes west of Warrnambool after collecting a sprinkling of local caches. On day 2 we returned to find a few caches around Tower Hill before heading through Port Fairy to Portland, spending the rest of an unpleasantly hot and windy day around Portland and camping out nearby. On day 3 we drove from Portland to Nelson with a detour to Dartmoor, then back to Ewen Ponds, Port MacDonnell, and a circuitous route up to Mt Gambier with a solid days' caching culminating in some rewarding finds around the Blue and Green Lakes. We were very lucky to locate a very pleasant campsite a few kilometres out of town in Xanthorrhoea (grass tree) mixed eucalypt woodland for the night. The final day saw us travel to Millicent to complete the SFE Challenge series, then to Kingston, Salt Creek, Meningie, Tailem Bend, Murray Bridge and return back home. All in all a very eventful and fruitful trip with some great cache finds, some easy drive-bys, challenging tree climbs, a number of strenuous walks and visits to many scenic locations. We found an assortment of traditionals, puzzles, multis, earthcaches, letterboxes and virtuals, including a rewarding first-to-find, a wide range of difficulty-terrain combinations and detours to locate some unloved caches.
Thanks for the cache SE_SA_Geocachers!

07-Nov-18
I headed down to the south-east with gridge98 on a quick, two-day trip to find a few caches.

We had some rather mixed weather, with sunshine, rain, hail and wind at different stages, but most of the time it was good weather for caching.

We also had rather mixed results in terms of caches. There were some interesting hides in some terrific places; some along the beaches, some in the pine forests and others at various scenic or interesting locations. We managed a few lucky FTFs, but also a few disappointing DNFs. But all in all, it was a great trip.

Thanks SE_SA_Geocachers for the cache.

A quick jog up the hill to find a rather large cache, awesome view TFTC

02-Nov-18
After some scuba diving in a local Mount Gambier Sinkhole today, I had a bit of time grabbing some geocachers and hiking around the rim.

This has got to be one of the coolest containers I've come across, and although I do acknowledge that this container was more so for the previously famed Mountopoly series, it is great that it can still live on. The geocache needed a bit of scurrying around, and eventually saw something through the bushes that caught my eye. Very cool and easily a Favourite Point from me, thanks!

Find #3077. Found @ 15:46

We're holidaying in Portland and decided to nip over the border to grab some caches to help qualify for a local challenge. I'd identified a few target caches.

This one was opportunistic along the way to my target mystery. A great looking cache container.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache SE_SA_Geocachers.

Mr C and the youngest member of thecoxcrew trundled off in search of another tick for our game board. What a great spot for a cache, and very well done! Surprised a couple of muggles on the trail when we emerged from the bush. Hopefully we left them with the impression that junior got caught short and needed to make a quick trip behind a bush!! Fave point awarded for the effort spent on this one. TNLNSL. TFTC.

After Conquering the caches at Mount Schank in the morning we had a bite to eat. Now Mogni thought a nice stroll around the rim of Valley Lake was in order. Cool
Had a laugh at this one. Made the walk UP the track to GZ worth it. Smile Thanks SA SA Geocachers Big Grin

Just as we neared GZ a sound started and some rustling in the bush had our attention. It wasn't some sort of proximity alarm and a snake after all just a big Cicada sounding off and then dropping from his perch. TFTC

A day trip to The Mount for some Christmas shopping left a little time for some caching, so I decided to try and clean up my remaining unfound Mountopoly caches and this was the first one to be hit. I almost went deaf on the walk down to the cache from Potter's Point as the local cicadas were in full swing. Thankfully this one wasn't as far off the track as I was expecting on a warm snakish kinda' day and the find was made extra quick, the challenge was then to sign the log in the now gale force wind.
One more down.

So it was Geomum's turn to find this one and so we adventured off to find. Well we followed the map and wondered where we should park. Parked at the bottom of brownes lake, found a trial and headed up. Well that was an adventure for sure, 300m away, climbing hills, getting muddy & dirty but that's all part of the fun of caching. As we got to the top, I said we should of parked near here and followed this trial. Ah well...we made it. Waited for some muggles to continue there walk around so we sat on the bench & ate our lunch. When they went, we went in & came up with the find. TFTC Smile Followed the trail all the way back to the bottom, so much easier & quicker going down than it was coming up...Smile

Wow what a great hide guys. I never tire of the view from here. I am so lucky to have this beautiful area on my doorstep.

After replacing the cache had a bit of a moment where I thought I might go for a slide down the hill but thankfully held my grip.

A fave point from me.

Visiting the Mount once again and this trip was mainly for a friendly game of Mountopoly. We had heard some good things about this series, and it didn't disappoint. By this point we were doing night caching with the help of mogni. TFTC SE SA Geocachers.

This one was a real challenge in the dark, although it may have been good not to know what was below. An excellent cache with a lot of work making it one of the stand outs. Favourite awarded.

08-May-13
I hate being beaten by a cache so back I went this morning before work to give it another shot.
It was interesting to stand at the top and see where we went in the dark last night.
Pity we didnt realise if we had gone a further 10 metres we would have come out on that grassy section and we could have strolled to the path. Although it was easy to walk over the ferns on the way down they formed a good barrier going back up.
So armed with a new GZ I went looking for the cache
I dont like these co-ord either.
If there was a cache at GZ this Parrot didnt find it. The spot looked geofriendly but I couldnt see a regular container. I widened my search to other locations in the area but with no cache discription beyond the game play and no hint I really had nothing to work with so once again I had to retire beaten.

08-May-13
Just written my log and now I see there is a clue that wasnt on my download last night.
So I didnt have to go 15 metres down the slope. Rats [B)]

08-May-13
Well there is one thing about the Parrot and that is he is persistent.
Now armed with a clue decided to try the third time luck approach and do it Bobs way.
Another stroll to an area I am all to farmiliar with now.
I looked here I looked there and then in all its crowning glory there it was.
Very happy to make the find and wish I had brought something from work yesterday to leave in the cache.
I have posted my co-ords for this find if anyone wants to try them.

07-May-13
Out for some night time caching with Mr ParrotHead while I am down painting a tennis court.

Down the hill about 30 meter but no find, than the climb backup wow now I'm puffing.

TFTC.

07-May-13
Pity we didnt find it as we went to the old co-ords around 2300hrs.
A 30 metre plunge over the side of the hill had this parrot huffing and puffing and I pulled up with about 6 metres to go while Rodney from Scoobsters went on ahead.
Back up we climbed and then when I went to log back at the Hotel I saw it had been updated. Sad
