This area is kinda my back yard and only ever cached up here once in the snow many years ago so the opportunity arose to spend a day up in the hills to do some Multis and puzzles and this cache was part of the adventure

Back on Mt Baw Baw with another mission, mission being to collect the clues for the mystery cache. It was a busy day at Baw Baw with lots of muggles playing various sports. They weren't too fussed with what I was doing. Another awesome day had exploring the area, with many coffee stops to refuel. This was one of the caches I located today. Had fun watching Frisbee Golf...their was a tournament being held today..first time I ever saw this sport
The climb up the 'BIG Hill West' was indeed a big one, the geokids (and big ones) made it with the promise of a snack after a find!
The find was quick dropped off a path tag and we then sat and enjoyed the view with the promised food

One of my plans for the 2020-2021 summer was heading back up to Mt Baw Baw to finish off the WAB WAB Mystery cache. With Easter almost here and daylight saving about to end, I knew I had failed in my plan. But looking at the great weather for the week and start of Easter, had I failed?
Found this one in good condition pretty easily at 10.15 am
Thanks for the cache Ba Luke and A Homburg

Nearly 2 years back, I started on a cache that would take me to many places and this was to be the final area. I had been dropping hints fortnightly to Spiffy- that we could come up here, but either the weather or another plan, plus the tough drive, kept putting it off. Today though, even with some rain about it was still warm and before another snow season set in we decided to go.
Glad for a break from puffing our way up to this one and made a quick find here.
Thanks to BaLuke for the placement and fun.

Found at 11:32 am.
A long term multi location project brought us to this location today. We had been meaning to do it for a while so chose this weekend. It was lovely on arrival, 11 degrees, thick fog, light rain and very strong winds that instantly inverted the umbrella so that didn't get a lot of use. Oh well, at least it wasn't snowing. The drive up here was ok with the awesome road holding and handling of the ute, however I had to pull over a couple of times to let the Porsche, Lamborghini and BMW M3 car club groups fly past.
I had only been up here once on a freezing cold day to do the LGA challenge and grab one cache and go so it was nice to walk up to the summit and check out all the ski runs.
Bit of steep section to get to this one, gathered our clue though for the final and headed off again now with very wet feet.
Thanks for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

I was almost ready to call this a day, as I'd done almost 20km by this point, but couldn't resist the lure of a view point so headed up the hill. Cache was found, and the views were excellent. There was a limit to how far you could actually see in the haze below, but it gave a great impression of being up on high far above the common world below. Thanks for the cache.

An event at Toorongo Falls got me closer to the mountain than I expected to be any time soon, so I took the opportunity.
The drive in is a nice workout... almost 40km of twists, turns, switchbacks, steep grades, and oh, so much fun. I have to admit I enjoyed the challenge and the views.
Even in midsummer, the weather can be interesting, and visibility was about 40 metres in the day carpark when I arrived. Perfect for a walk around to the summit and back.
In all, a little over ten klicks of walking while I collected clues to a mystery cache, logged a trig point and took photos for another challenge.
Big hill? They're not bloody kidding. That was a workout and a half... message to self: check the map a bit better and choose cache order more carefully. Thanks, BaLuke. I think.

That was a damn hard walk!!! No snow yet. It might be harder to find under snow though. Make sure you bring a writing ️ implement.
I was rewarded with more fantastic views at GZ so thanks for bringing me here! There were a few things here that matched the hint, but the coords were good and then I found the nicely hidden cache. Took the empty Red Bull cans with me too.
Thanks BaLuke

Walked to this spot on my way back down to the carpark, found the cache quickly and grabbed the clue. TFTC
Found with FUF009.
Today we left Walhalla and headed to Mt Baw Baw.
We had to adjust our route because the GPS kept trying to take us down a dirt road that looked like it would end up needing a 4wd.
We found lots of caches along the way and heaps up Mt Baw Baw.
We were lucky with the weather and to have avoided the bushfires.
Thanks to all the COs for their caches. Tftc

A road trip with good friend sharkiefan. Plan was to go Walhalla for a couple of events and then up to the top of Mt Baw Baw before getting back to the City.
Well we made it up the road now to make it to the summit.
We only had one cache on the plan for this area as we were here for Virtual Reasons.
Tackling the slopes UP, it ended up being a zig zag as the direct way was just a little too steep. So the caches guided our way.
Up at the Cairn it was lizard central, they were all coming out of the cracks in the rocks to get as much sun as they could.
Once the summit cache was found it was time to come down.
Following the tracks marked on the GPSr I realized that I had downloaded the Mountain bike tracks and not the hiking ones. But we were the winners as these were a more direct route down and took us past all the caches on the Western side of the slopes.
Walking down the Mountain bike tracks made me wish i had my bike with me.... oh well next time as we left a number of caches for another day.
All caches were found in good order.

We took a bit of shortcut to this one. But it's not the sort of terrain I relish stomping through in summer. Would definitely just have gone the long way if not wearing gaiters. At GZ we hovered around for quite a while, and I started to fear we'd have to try to do without one of the mystery clues. Eventually buhfuhguh found the cache hidden in a manner entirely consistent with the clue after all! Thanks BaLuke!
Ah what a day, another planned trip with Bendsinister up towards Mt Baw Baw, but also this time we aim to collect some unlove (even replacing an old nutcache cache) and also to pick up some of the Rockwiz series and the odd traditional along the way. So off we went meeting at Cranbourne for our journey for the day.
And after grabbing most of the caches we aimed to find for the day, only having one or two dnf's on the day as a whole we headed back home after dark decideding to taking the way home via moe to grab a couple puzzles that we both had been working on.
Anyways sorry for the generic log. But thanks for the cache and the lovely day out today.

Not much snow this weekend, which meant we could go geocaching! Easy find with stunning views. Tftc
Down below, a large family splayed out over the bushes
Heads down, bottoms up
Children peering intently, adults too
They seemed to be searching, searching
For what, we shall never know
But we behaved similarly up the big hill
And found what we were searching for
Heads down, bottoms up

This one beat us, got to within a couple of feet but no luck, hope our gps wasn't playing up.

Found during a ten day caching trip to the other side of the state, Mt Baw Baw is the last Local Government area I need to complete the LGA Challenge cache so a visit to this alpine area was a must on the to-do list for the trip, after sleeping in [OVT](https://coord.info/TB70Q77) in one the nearby empty carparks we drove into the village to make ourselves breakfast after finding nothing open and then unloaded the bikes for a trip to the summit and back.

Found with a bunch of Scouts from 1st Casey after it was decided there wasn't enough snow to go skiing.
I thought for a while that I wasn't going to get this one today, but at one point I changed a plan and then this one was a short enough detour.
Out again early this morning to do a loop of 12 caches that hopefully took in the final in the series so that my D/T series is complete. I had some clues already from yesterday so I plotted a route to take me to the summit. The weather was perfect again and a tad cool first thing and a bit dewy from overnight. I saw no one in my travels and found all the caches I set out to do.
Lovely area for caching.
An ascent of Big Hill completed my morning run of 12 caches and had taken around 2hrs in perfect conditions. Great views from up here too.
Thanks baluke!

Despite it being wet windy and misty we thought we could still grab a few good caches up on the mountain. We headed up the slopes first before and wind got stronger as it already had a chill to it despite being well rugged up. In the end with the conditions we dropped the multi and a few in he more open parts as the wet was causing a chill in the exposed windy parts. A few animals were spotted along the way including 6 Lyre Birds, various wallabies and numerous rabbits. We got off to a slow start with WAB WAB 1 as it took as a while to find. At 2 we had to explore a few valleys before spotting the camo. From there it was across to the Magic Carpet and then the south east track or summit trail to the top picking up Frost Hollow, Off Piste, It's a Picnic Booboo without too much difficultly once the GPSr settled. Carry the Cairn took a bit to locate and it's one of the few times we can say we had picked up the cache to then realise later it was the cache. When we got to the multi the wind really picked up and with the co ord projection decided it was better to complete more of the WAB WAB series. It was now onto the down hill run as we covered a couple of runs as we did a zig zag picking up Summit, Painted Playground and Sherman where we had a bit of trouble making the find in the wet undergrowth until spotting it 7m to the north of were the GPSr wanted it. From here it was onto Big Hill West and Speed Bump before a return to the car to dry out and do the maths for the final. We got a likely set of numbers and headed over. We thought we might have been out a touch given the hint but then ,moved some camo to make the find. A fav pt for the series. TFTC.
A welcome distraction.....
As we were leaving the last cache, the Queen was trying to distract the teenage polar bear, by tickling each other as they walked along behind the "trying to pretend he isn't with them" Dad, when a young lady walked past, then stopped just up the track, let out a cry of anguish, then headed straight for us....sort of.
As she went past at the speed of brand new hiking gear from an urban hiking store, she exclaimed that she had lost her phone somewhere between when she left the resort and now.......a quick add up on fingers and toes worked that out to be about 6 or 7 kms of track.....well good luck with that.
So she took off, then stopped, then came back to us and asked if I could ring it (I still to this day have no idea why she wanted me to do that...unless she had super-duper hearing and she was going to hear it ring from here...)....
So I did.....
"The mobile phone you are calling is out of mobile service range......."
We just found ANOTHER place that Vodaphone doesn't have any service.....on top of a hill at a ski resort.....
So off she went to find her right arm, as apparently her phone has her entire life on it...I don't think I could fit my entire life on my phone even if I ran over it with a truck and folded it 15 times.
Anyway.....back to the show....
We made our way past the big sheds, and the big ski jump that seemed to land its projectile stunt pilot into the trees, and fortunately for our ears, the ground was reasonably flat, so we rocked up to GZ with a small amount of complaining, and the Queen came up with the goods.
And on to the last one.........But the circus hasn't ended.....

A nice hide, but for some reason I was looking in all the wrong places - even after checking the hint.
Eventually found, but not sure why it took so long as it then seemed obvious!
Thanks for an excellent series!

I met the Geelong boys along the South Face Road for an awesome day of caching doing the WAB WAB series of caches on Mt. Baw Baw. Along with Jacko83, one half of The Tritonz and Jag2612 we biked, hiked and bush bashed (a little) our way around the absolutely fabulous terrain and scenery that is Mt. Baw Baw. I had never been there before and the views all around were spectacular. We couldn't have asked for better weather and it was in fact so warm that the asphalt in the car park was melting to our shoes.
We started at the bottom of the mountain and worked our way up the road to the carpark where we donned our bike helmets and mounted our bikes. From there we rode, and pushed our bikes up some steep inclines, over grassy 'fields' and even at one point carried them through some thick scrub land. During the whole day we only saw three other people so we pretty well had the mountain to ourselves.
Onto the caches, and the hides varied from quick finds to spending some time searching high and low but in the end we found all the caches that were available for us to find. What can I say, other than this is what caching is all about; awesome location, perfect weather, great company and fun, along with a fantastic series of caches to find. What better way to finish of the day with a nice cold beer in the bar with the boys with fantastic views out of the windows.
To get here from the previous cache we had to carry the bikes through some pretty thick bushland and over a creek. Resting at the top of Big Hill West was a great relief and the views were fantastic. A big thanks to Baluke for the caches we found today.

One half of the tritonz had to work so the other half along with Jacko83, Jag2612 and Quasar3671 set out on a mission to do the Baw Baw series. We took our bikes along to help on the journey even though half the time we were pushing them up the steep hills or carrying them through bushes to take short cuts. We all had an awesome time with beautiful weather and great company. Its hard to imagine this place under snow, we will have to come back in winter just to check it out. Thanks baluke for placing this series in this amazing area.
Headed up here from Geelong at 5am with Jag2612 and Tritonz, and met Quasar3671 on the way. Bikes packed, eski's and sunscreen.
Hd a ball up here today on Mt Baw Baw doing this caches - what a great place to visit. No snow this time of year, and bitchumen in carpark so hot it melted out shoes! Fantastic day with no dnfs. All caches were in good nick, some tricker than others.
Thanks baluke for taking me caching in a great part of Victoria - memorable! And thanks lads for a great day!

Today I headed to Mount Baw Baw with Stemicmitsar with the intention of finding caches that would help me qualify for the "Lonely Cache" challenge and both of us qualify for the "Significant Hike" challenge.
Another search that perhaps took longer than it should have but the cache was found, the log duly signed and then on to "Painted Playground" SL TFTC

Today I headed up to Mt. Baw Baw with biggles1024 to find a few caches that will help us complete some challengers that we have been working on.
We went the long way around to this one and the headed up to the top of the big hill.
I didn't really take long to find and we were then heading back down the hill again.
Thanks to baluke for placing this cache.

Find # 85. This was our last opportunity to find a few caches before it gets too cold and the snow starts to fall. A very beautiful day on Mt Baw Baw today so our time spent looking was magnificent. Quite a hike up the big hill to get to this cache but an awesome view to reward our efforts, along with finding another excellent hide. Thanks baluke for this cache and for this awesome series.
Today was the last chance for us to find a few caches before the snow comes and the finds get harder. Aptly named as this was a big hill to climb. Great hide with a very beautiful view from GZ. TFTC
Set off up the wrong path but soon realised our error and retraced our steps. Cache soon in hand once we got to the GZ. TFTC
Baw Baw has many attractions this weekend. JosieY is doing a crazy marathon as I type. Tomorrow there's an orienteering event. Today for me it's geocaching.
With Essieg watching on I made a quick find. I then found a shady spot to do my calculations for Boulder stone.

We continued our after dinner walk past the multi to collect some extra clues, and then up the steep climb of Big Hill. We missed the easiest walk across to this cache during the circuit of caches today. Walking straight up the ski run was hard work, especially after dinner and so many hours of walking the mountain today. What a relief to find the cache and collect the clue and finally, at 8pm, go back to our Flash Packer's room for some R & R and a good night's sleep. Thanks for a full afternoon of caching Baluke.
We walked up here from Frosti Hollow and this walk was steeper than that to the Summit, had us puffing. TFTC

Found in the company of Biggles Bear while out on our monthly caching trip, this time to Mount Baw Baw. It was a fantastic day for caching and wandering about the mountain. We ended up choosing the wrong track to follow, then headed through the prickly heath and across a small stream. I chose one way up while Biggles Bear took another.
I arrived at GZ first and looked around for a couple of minutes until the others arrived. The cache was found soon after. Thanks for the cache.

We went west we went up...on weekend with Baluke, Atraversiamo and scouting families came and explored the mountain void of snow but lots of hiking and caching. Picked up TB and will move it along maybe it can come on holidays with me next week. TFTC Baluke
Found while geocaching with a couple of previous finders on a fine day's snowshoe tour. I was fairly shocked by the container, which is a rather unusual one for this area. I did like the colour though and would like to see more of this kind of thing around the traps. Thanks baluke for another in the series.

It ended up being a good weekend in the snow. With no snow Friday to over 10 cm by Sunday morning.
A good cover of snow makes these Baw Baw caches even trickier to find.
Good to see balike has been busy. so much for the awesome underutilised gps, Not this weekend fella !!!!!!
Thanks for the hides baluke.

Today was a massive epic run which accumulated in a round trip distance of 400km with a number of rare D/T combo completed in some extreme range of weather conditions. Started out in Gembrook, then heading to Mt Baw Baw then south to Moe, picking up a number of caches including 4 types (3 type rule achieved) and a FTF. Team up with Ahomburg and Day1976 for today's mission as some caches required a team effort at times. The highlight of the day was witnessing Ahomburg complete his first loop of the 81 matrix, awesome effort, well done mate. In total 24 caches found and 1 DNF.
Been super keen to attempt the Wab Wab series ever since it was publish and finally today was it. There had been a dump of snow over the previous 48 hours, as on Friday the images from the web cams showed no snow. The amount of snow did increase the challenge and it was fun and quite peaceful walking thru the snow around the mountain today.
This was the 7th found in the series and as it was a new addition to the series was hopeful that the log still remain unspoiled from another's mark. Once at GZ the cache was found rather quickly. O Yeah!!... Sweet!! TFTC BaLuke

So, I had been working on my project 81, targeting specific areas with my caching partner in crime SedgwickDave. We had put into action a plan for me to complete it today during the week. I needed just two more combinations which were covered with "Andrew Daniel Coy - Family Photos" and "Carry the Cairn WAB WAB 5". Having managed to solve the puzzle during the week with Dave, the plan was to head out very early Sunday morning to pick it up. We would then pick up Day1976 who was also joining us for the day and head towards Baw Baw Village for caches in the area, hopefully a FTF as well as some unloved finds.
On the way here, we noticed this one had not been found almost three months after being published. Wow, unheard of any closer to Melbourne. Anyway, we walked along in hope of a FTF, finding the container fairly quickly considering all the snow, opend up the log book to reveal a blank sheet. three Happy cachers
Thanks to BaLuke for the cache. TNLN

What an awesome adventure! I was invited to tag along with the legendary duo of ahomburg and sedgwickDave on one of their adventures. Today's main aim was to get to Mt Baw Baw to pick up the wab wab series, in the snow! On the way we found ourselves a bit of unlove, a FTF, 4 different types of caches and ahombug knocked off the first round of his D/T looper.
We originally missed the turn off to this cache earlier in the day, but after having completed all except for the final puzzle of this series, we felt we should return back via this one, just so we can tick off the entire series (so far). Our {FTF} for the day, and a nice one too! Signed the log, replace and moved on.
Loved the series, thanks baluke!
