We will stop in and check to see what has happened to the container in the coming week

It’s great that there has been a park made in his name and such a beautiful view from here. Tftc
Classic. Some great Aussie stories out here. Of hard work, resilience, innovation. Things all valued by western ideals of course. Aysen could almost be a gummy runner, he and Zade have walked couple K each in them. A nice view here overlooking. Would have been very tough clearing that land.
Both of us are old enough to remember the legendary shuffle of Cliff Young. His epic runs between Melbourne and Sydney held the nation enthralled. It is fitting that there is a memorial to the man and that it is a gum boot. There was two gum boots there today, a golden one placed by the local historical society with a QR code that give you more information about Cliff Young. We made a pretty quick find of the cache and signed the log book before carefully placing it and it’s camouflage back where it was. The cache is in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache H_3.
Good story about Cliff. Pretty sure we met Cliff on the road many years ago. Good to see a monument in his memory. TFTC.
This is a great monument to cliff. He was a legend and proved that you can do anything.
I had forgotten about Cliff Young! Great tribute to him and an easy cache on a cold wet afternoon adtr visiting the Otway Fly. Thanks.
On a weeks break, so heading out of Melbourne with the Geo wife to explore the Otways and find a few local Victoria caches.
Headed to Forrest Brewery to stop for lunch and then to Timboon as the first overnight stay and explored the local area. Visited the Gourmet food trail and the Great Ocean Road sites between Port Campbell and Peterbourough.
The second half of the week we travelled down the Great Ocean Road to Apollo Bay and set up a base there for a few days.
Weather has been good so far, overcast but warm enough.
Thanks for the cache and the hide

Quickest find today. Out for some much needed fresh air in our beautiful backyard.
Spending a day in the area, strolling around and finding some caches in interesting places. We could have driven through Lavers Hill on the Great Ocean Road, yet we wanted to see the glow worms in Melba Gully light up at night. So we had plenty of time to explore this neck of the woods.
Awesome story and awesome monument! Much more interesting than a guy on a bronze horse, for example. The cache was a quick find.

I had heard the story of Cliff Young but I hadn’t realised he came from here. What an interesting little place. TFTC.
What a great story. Thanks for placing a cache here so that we could learn about this.
Found by Roma and Max in the company of our friends The Swaggies.
Continuing on our geocaching/silo art tour commencing on the coast and ending in north of the state.
A very suitable compliment to a great and down to earth athlete.
Thank you krankitkiwi for placing this cache.
Cheers from Romax.

Heymissjo and I popped into Beech Forest to pick up a UBD map.
I had no idea this was Cliff Young country!
I grew up near the Melbourne end of the ultra marathon back in '83. Cliff was an overnight hero!!
It's great to see where it all began and note the nearby street named after him.
Thanks krankitkiwi.

On a road trip collecting caches with The Welder which has lead us to this lovely place. Gorgeous views. We can also collect a piece for the UBD challenge! Thanks for the cache.

Ode to Cliff Young, a pretty solid monument to Cliffy, a man who showed the world what could be done with determination. This cache brought back some memories for us. A nice hide on a freezing day.

Found this one on a visit now to the forest. I well remember Cliff running along the highway on his epic journey.
Interesting cache and easy find. My husband once saw Cliff Young running on the road at Bells Beach and they high fived. TFTC.
#1616 we have had a foreign exchange student with us for a few weeks and it was time to do the great ocean road trek. Detoured to this area to check out the Hopetoun falls and redwood forest and saw this pop up on the phone when heading back to the main tourist route. I recall Cliff’s efforts appearing on the news at the time. I must admit living in QLD at the time I had no real knowledge of the area Cliff was from so it was a nice little shuffle down memory lane. Nice easy find TNLNSL. TFTC krankitkiwi
Hoppy Easter! Staying not too far away for the Easter break.
Quick stop off to grab this one whilst exploring the area.

Quick find today whilst in Otways region.
I actually saw Cliffy Young when I was a kid coming back to Melbourne from Canberra Speedway.
Great little memorial for Cliff here.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Signed log and replaced cache, still in good condition.

On the waterfall run today & searching for nearby caches on the way. Thanks for this one.
I'm glad I was targeting 25+ for the day which meant stopping off at this cache. One of my earlier memories is watching Cliffy shuffle (in the darkness and rain) somewhere between Melbourne and Sydney. What a bloody legend!
So happy to have seen this unpretentious memorial to an everyman potato farmer who beat others who had specialised in this type of madness at their own game.

Shuffled over from the loco via the hall of fame.
Having never been here before we had a chuckle as my off handed comment on the walk over was "it will be hidden under a *** ****" ... and it is.
.
Albert Ernest Clifford Young, OAM
(8 February 1922 – 2 November 2003)
Athlete.
Legend.
Potato Farmer.
.
I was only 23 when this feat of endurance transpired.
I'll be 61 next year, the same age Cliffy was in 1983.
I have a hard enough time **driving** from Sydney to Melbourne without stopping for a sleep!

Cool plaque! I recall going out as a 9yo to watch Cliff coming through the outer suburbs of Melb late in the evening. What a legend!!
Old cliffy.Meet his wife Michelle one day in Colac. My cousin watched him on a race in Colac park day and night. After he won cliffy gave my cousin Greg riches his medal.
Santa’s boot? Thank you for the cache and best regards from a swiss visitor.

A trip east to Parkville 2018 had us stopping on the way to collect a few caches and again stopping on the way home. Well that’s what cachers do when they head to a mega don’t they.

Staying down at Lavers Hill for the Glow Worm event. Spent the day walking to waterfalls. Some had caches some not.
Totaled 4 waterfalls and one cascade, all flowing very well.
I hadn't read the description and wonder what the cache name meant - it was obvious when I arrived at GZ.
I didn't know he was a local.
Nice sculpture.
Thanks, Robmc.

Stayed at Colac for the weekend and before I came up I decided to do the Old Beechy rail trail and end up at Lavers Hill for the Glow Worms.
I remember watching bits and pieces of the race and wondered who this bloke was who had the very unusual running technique.
I now know where he came from as I thought he was from Colac
A fitting tribute to a very unique Australian.
Thanks krankitkiwi & H_3 TFTC

Found on our way home from Apollo Bay. This was our last find of the day before heading to our namesake village just a few kilometers away to get some scones and coffee. I have visited the area a few times before but never this side of the road. So nice to see something that I didn't know was here. Cache is in good condition and the SES were have a rip roaring training session across the way. All replaced as found and on our way. Many thanks to H_3 for keeping this one going.
While heading home after attending an event yesterday we made the stop here, the youngest team member was interested to hear all about Cliff Young, and see the memorial, log found, signed and replaced, thanks for the cache and the fun

Will today be recognised as the "2018 Autumn Break"?
We spent a wet and windy day in the very good company of au.fait, as we made our way from Colac through the Otways to the Melba Gully Glow Worm Event.
This boot would certainly have kept Cliff grounded!
Thanks 'H_3' for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Met up with Phetlern in Colac early this morning and armed with lunch, wet weather gear and a formidable list of caches set off on our hunt. An easy find here at a solid memorial to an amazing man who outran or out shuffled all the younger fitter runners in that amazing ultra marathon. TFTC krankitkiwi
After checking in to our accommodation the kids and I headed out for an afternoon of exploring. I watched the movie of this a few years back - fantastic story. Also got pics of the pics getting a boot up the arse! Lol. Many thanks for the cache.
