Last one for the trail, we parked back at Stratton Mission Road end so this is about as far as the leggies will take us today as we still have to walk back to the car. The dog has enjoyed pulling us along the trail and needs to rest now she has exerted all that energy. Thanks Gonefishen for the trail.
After a break of quite a few years we got back onto this trail. It was closed while workers were in place when e were last here. A great day for a ride and a few caches. Found right where the hint said it would be!On a trip to the Inverloch area to spend some time with family, but also some time to collect a few caches we have not found before. The weather was mixed but we had a few good days where we could get the bikes out on the rail trail.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Gonefishen07.**SKI Pair****
I wanted to get away for a while and the coast is always the best place for me to relax and unwind. Phillip Island is one of my favorite places for a beach break so i decided to head down here and remind myself what the ocean looks like, its been far too long.
I booked some pet friendly accommodation for the week and then threw together a list of caches to tackle on the way down and back but didnt make any plans for the island itself, island time doesnt need plans . This is my last day and i am heading home after a terrific mini holiday. Today i decided to do another decent walk with the geopooch before hitting the road, this rail trail looks just right.
I scratched my head for a bit when i arrived at gz, the gps was jumpy and there didnt seem to be any likely hides. It was a satisfying ah-ha moment when i spotted the little devil, nice one.

Quick find whilst taking in the sights. Although it.could easily be missed if youre not paying attention!!
Log signed and everything replaced as found. Slightly rotated the hiding space to maintain the integrity of the hide. TFTC

Found 2.44pm 04.01.2023 - Find no. 1065 - 3rd of 3 finds for the day - We did 4.79km of walking finding the 3 caches in this trip.
Ngs suggested we all go out for a drive and we decided to head towards Anderson to collect a cache or two that had been put along the trail since I had been looking in this area.
The rain did its thing at 1pm which was when one of the weather sites said it would ... haha .. who would have thought it would be exactly right? It got its job over but there was still a bit of a chill in the air as we headed south for the first 2 caches so made sure we all had coats on which we needed for the first find but had to shed after the 2nd find and were relegated to the car boot on the way past to the 3rd find ... it turned out quite warm by then!
I hadnt done a few caches on the rail trail on the north side of Anderson but only one was still active sadly so only one additional find for us. I was still deciding if 1.2 km each way as the crow flies was a sore foot happy making thing but others were willing and I did have a single annoying green bit on my map so by mutual agreement we headed off after returning coats to car and collecting drink bottles, hats and other 'necessary' items that were 'safer' being carried to and fro.
Miss10 was in charge of the finding device this time for some of the way and was swapped to miss7 part way then back to miss10 who got us to the location but wasn't quite sure about gz again. ... yes, sharing technology but at least we were outside exercising ... She returned the finding device and I verified her preferred spot but this time we didn't spot the needed object immediately. Not long after we arrived in the shade a pedalling muggle whizzed past but was gone in a flash so didn't seem to take much notice once we encouraged misses to move their stuff from the middle of the trail. After a bit of looking hither and yon and another muggle on bike went a lot more sedately past ... good afternoon ... nope nothing going on here, then just after he was out of sight ... oh yeah ... doh! the find was made. Both Miss7 and Miss10 were interested in the cache as i don't think they have seen one like this but a touch disappointed there wasn't goodies to peruse ... not all caches have extra stuff in them they now sort of understand. Log was signed and cache replaced as found. Thanks for the cache .
Then came the 1.2 km as the crow flies walk back. We had passed a pair of walking muggles with pooches as we headed towards and it turns out we passed them again on the way back as well as another pair (or was it triple?) of pedalling muggles. I was walking a bit slower than the others so they didn't get to see the birds nest I spied in the tree when I stopped to photo the small eucalypt flowers or to see the blue tongue lizard trying to be inconspicuous on one side of a cutting. They must have past it surely?
I was almost back to the car and admiring the half dozen butterflies flitting in the shade to the right when the first speedy cycling muggle silently whizzed past on the right and nearly gave me a heart attack! We were both lucky I hadn't decided to get camera out and step across to take photos otherwise I would have been collided with!
.. .. ..
Please wheeled muggles and hunters ... be aware that you can come almost silently upon others ... make some sort of noise ... or get a bell for your bike like you should have ... and give others a bit of warning!
.. .. ..
M7 wandered back a little to meet me ... 'Did you get me any pine cones?' 'No, not this time.' 'That's ok daddy and I got some more.'
We had some interesting weather for the couple of hours we were out starting with rain and cool breeze to quite warm/mildly hot with breeze and then to looming dark cloud from san remo area as we were leaving.
Thanks again for the cache.

Easy find
Olive and I were supposed to go exploring earlier this year but several incidents intervened and we didn’t get there. With a promising forecast this week we decided to finally get Paris aka Camper trailer out of hibernation in a local area so if we found massive issues we could just go home. No issues and just glorious weather. Ah. And off we went.

Another day off and perfect weather so bribbed the teens to head out with the pooch and enjoy this weather, a few grumblings that its hot, how much longer... teens...
Parked car at Anderson and walked the trail... Saw a horse (on the trail), a snake, loads of birds, some dragonflies, cows (they weren't very good at playing "Hey Cow"... had the trail to ourselves pretty much of the way but saw a few bike riders when we headed back.

Using a new Ebike along the trail finding some good caches today this one took the longest time to find signed & replaced...TFTC
This took some finding as the coords had me off by about 3m. Easy once you're in the correct spot.
After doing some caches last night I had a rare day off and had a bike and a geodog willing to come along this part of the Bass Coast Rail track. With plenty of caches on offer to add points to the Planets challenge, we set off from Anderson. Thanks Gonefishen07 for you work which I admire. I did not find this one on the way down - took a while to warm up my cache senses - Forgot to check this one on the way back as I found 2 others on the return trip to Woolamai. Fence up lots of options moved on. Will have to come back and enjoy an uninterrupted bike ride !
Apologies for the late log. My family were away in New Zealand so I planned a few caching excursions and I’m still catching up on logs. This was a great day spent on bikes on the Bass Coast Rail Trail with liambaxter88. Rain was forecast so were really pleased to get through till just after lunch when we had to abandon and not before we had brought up Liam’s biggest ever caching day. I apologise for my logs being largely generic as I didn’t take notes on the day and have been slow to log. Again the hide style changed along this section but the views were great. My 20th of 49 finds for the day. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache and the series Gonefishen07.
For whatever reason I can't seem to remember this exact cache. Either way I'm hoping it was a fake Rhino or I'll be as disappointed as the duck cache! I was still loving the mixed variety at this point, great series so far!
This series was part of my biggest caching day so far! Thanks to AnnoyingTarbit for taking me down here and Gonefishen07 for the time put into the series. We somewhat managed to avoid most of the rain.

Continuing on our adventure after attending the Alexandra Mega Event, we found ourselves spending a few days on Phillip Island. While we tried to take advantage of the many great places to see on the island, we were pre-occupied with trying to complete the qualifying requirements for a particular challenge cache we had signed in Ballarat prior to the Surf Coast Mega Event last year. It really does pay to check the finer details of a challenge cache before you decide to look for it We had thought you needed to have found 100 caches in Victoria, but it was only when we came to log it that we realised the 100 caches in Victoria had to have been placed by the same cache owner
Anyway, initially we thought we would complete the challenge by doing the Mt Disappointment caches, but then friends who knew we were heading to Phillip Island told us we would easily qualify for the challenge there, and they would be much more interesting caches Well they were quite interesting, and some of them were downright sneaky
In the end, we had an enjoyable couple of days exploring Phillip Island and finding a variety of cache hides, with some great walks along some of the beaches and other places
Thank you Gonefishen07 for having placed the cache and maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

I offered up my Uncle duties to the three kids for the day but they had plans so I threw the bike in the car to head down to the rail trail series again. I didn't see many people on the trail today but even better was the lack of flies. They really got to me last time I came here.
27 cache finds and 3 dnf's.
Not bad all in all. The weather was great and the exercise was much needed.
Time to finish off this section of the rail trail. Quick find with container quite visible from track. Signed and replaced.
Thanks Gonefishen07

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches. I have got a nice streak going and hoping to let it run for as long as possible. I usually cache on my own but sometimes I will collect my nephew stinky bob and my brother stinky tom who both enjoy this hobby.
A big thanks goes out to all the cachers and cache owners without whom this lifestyle would not be possible.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work.

Not sure what the name has to do with the cache, I think someone went along and replaced the missing ones.
I tackled the last part of the Bass Rail Trail starting and finishing at Mc Garth Road. Another good cycling experience with plenty of caches to keep me amused the along the way. The ride back to the car was a nice downhill run. Cheers and TFTC
I am heading NE along the rail-trail. Thank you so much for this string of caches. I couldn't find some which I will aim to report on. It is a poor morning for caching with constant light rain - unpleasant for caching.
Started a new leg, where I drop geo-hubby off and then I head off to a pre-determined pick up spot. It is so great to be able to make consecutive finds, after all the "Wonthaggi Specials" we have encountering this weekend. TFTC
While out in the company of the McLookers we set out to get a start on the trail with bikes ready & roaring, plenty of water and snacks packed we were off. The sun belting down made for a hot ride but with sunscreen applied and our helmets for protection we enjoyed the trail and all caches on offer. Most caches were found with only a few DNF'S as we kept the pace up ...pedal, search, sign, pedal!
Thanks Gonefishen07 for your efforts put into this rail trail series, we had a ball.

Nice quick find today.
In the area on bikes with The Tritonz with the aim of completing the Rail Trail. The grass was very, very long in many places. Fortunately we did not see a snake...I am not sure how as it was a very snakey kind of day. Thanks GF07, it is a brilliant picturesque trail that gave us the opportunity to see another very pretty part of Victoria.

Steve and Erin out and about on our adventure day, decided to come back to Kilkunda and have a meander down the historic Bass coast rail trail and grab some caches while we are at it. TFTF )

I think the cache might have changed from the original as I couldn't figure out what the name had to do with the cache but found it anyway. Thanks
Spending the day down at the Bass coast with little Ruverbug and muggle husband decided to pay this rail trail a visit, such a scenic area, and find a few caches thank you for this trail
Out for a ride with Mark9375 and 4bait. Quick grab and we were on our way. TFTC
Found @ 17:15 on the 23 April 2016 thanks for this cache Gonefishen07

Back today to complete this trail, in the comnpany of quiet1_au and GJMMelb. This time we had brought our bikes. Q found this cache, affter G had overshot. TFTC
Found with Lochb and quiet1_au. Q found this one - a popular type of hide on this trail. Thanks Gonefishen07

After just 2 hours sleep, JSando and I got up super early, with bikes and esky loaded and headed to Wonthaggi for the annual New Years event, with a plan to knock over at least a small piece of the rail trail around here. This was our ninth find for the day, surprisingly we were racking up the finds reasonably quickly, a blessing given the flies lol. Many TFTC
My turn for a find this time, no problems locating this one. As warned the flies were in plague proportions (and only got worse as we went along)...
Found this cache while riding the rail trail from Kilcunda to Woolamai. A nice new log book to sign. TFTC
As we were going to be time poor to get to Anderson, we decided to restrict our search time for each cache and ran out of time on this one.
As the day went on, we realised that many of our DNF's had this same hint. It must be our Achille's heel.

My forth and final day down the coast today and I had decided last night that I would just do a few easy caches on my way back up North. As I drove past Kilcunda though, I ended up surprising myself and parking…
I still had half a rail trail to complete and a bike in the back! Even though I was extremely tired and sore from the last three days of intense caching, my mind was made up and well.. Once a Mountain Goat’s mind is made up, good luck changing it!
So off I rode, completing the second half of the rail trail. Even though the sun was out in full force today, there was no muggles to be seen! This was a huge bonus and sped up my ride considerably as I did need to be getting home!
By the time I hit the end of the rail trail, I had been able to put 45 smileys on caches and only had 7 DNF’s which was a good figure considering the rush I was in. Once again the high standard and variety of caches that awaited me blew me away. Such a well put together series that keeps you interested and always guessing!
Thank you again Gonefishin07 for the time and effort you have put into this series.
Searched around on all fours at this one, no luck though and had to be moving on.

We made the trip down from Cranbourne to Anderson to find all the caches between Woolamai Racecourse and Anderson, having already found 10 a week or so ago. Most caches are easily found although some care needs to be taken whilst walking through long grass for snakes.
This was an easy find, although we got a surprise as to the cache container here, which also needs some glue.

Another quick find along this trail. While I can't specifically recall this find I know that all the caches along here were brilliantly creative. I am trying to avoid using this generic log but I apologise for this one TFTC
