Found this one with TTO1 and TTO2 today. TTO1 and I are touring New Zealand with TTO2 for a couple of weeks and our travels brought us by this cache. So, we just had to stop and find it. The clouds from yesterdays heavy rains were still clearing while we were here, so visibility was a bit limited. It was still a beautiful spot though. Message sent with the answers to the questions for the group and picture posted showing TTO1 and me at GZ. Favorite Point from me.Were really enjoying our visit and have been exploring lots of cool spots. Im sure that we will still have a lot that we didnt get to see on this trip, so I look forward to coming back again some time to see some more of this beautiful country. Thanks for the fun!

# 21565Whau, I am on a three week trip with Cacher-Reisen and a bunch of fellow geocachers to Australia and New Zealand. It is so odd to imagine that I am going to visit a place that is nearly on the opposite of the globe from my usual hangouts. In Denmark it is late winter/early spring, and I am exchanging the winter-part for late summer in Australia and early autumn in New Zealand. This is so exciting. The itinerary is Frankfurt (Germany), Doha (Qatar), Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns (Australia) and Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Cromwell, Queenstown (New Zealand) before flying back to Europe. That will be two new continents and three new countries for me - and as far away from home as I have ever been. It is a lot of places and travelling, but we also have a plan to find lots of geocaches and see the sights and beautiful nature.Yesterday we arrived in Queenstown, which is the last destination of our big trip.. However we have two nights in the area and a packed program with smaller trips to Glenorchy and Milford Sound. Two fantastic trips to end our long geotour to Australia and New Zealand. I have enjoyed the trip downunder, but I am also happy to be going home soon. The trip to Milford Sound was a very long busdrive, and the heavy rain erased some of the excitement. However, seeing the waterfalls turn upside down - or rather downways up - was very surpricing. We came by this beautiful place, but due to rain and overcast we could not see much today. Denmark has also been affected by the iceages and parts of Denmark have hills and valleys, and some parts are completely flat. However, we have nothing compared to this. Our highest waterfall is 22,5 meters, our 'mountain' is 170 meters, hence our valleys are also not as impressive. But that has been one of the highlights of this trip - seeing how different and beautiful nature is in New Zealand, and yet have a feeling of home. How I hope to be back someday.Tak for cachen til Heidenspass.

A total of 38 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland went on a long journey. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand.I've been to New York and Hawaii, but this was going to be my furthest trip yet.The big goal was to get to know the continents with their natural characteristics and cultures. But we also wanted to find historical caches. Our first stop was Doha, Qatar. In Australia we visited Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns.Auckland, Rotuara, Wellington, Picton, Blenheim, Christchurch and Comwell were our stops in New Zealand. We ended our trip in beautiful Queenstown. To protect the logbooks, we logged with the team name Downunder 2024.It was a very special trip in a large team. Thanks for laying and maintaining the cache.Mit insgesamt 38 Geocachern, aus Deutschland, Dnemark, Luxemburg und der Schweiz, ging es auf groe Reise. Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia and New Zealand for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar .We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien und Neuseeland .

Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun. Thanks for this geocache. Good view today but because it was sunny and had been fine for a few days so only a few waterfalls showing in the area. We used the parking spot but then retraced out footsteps to the cache coordinates with parking as well as the information boards and actually a better view. Thanks,

Second earthcache of the day, on a tour from Queenstown to Milford Sound and back. A stunning spot to look out over the valley and where the glacier would once have been, and ponder the history of the area. Seeing glacially influenced places like this never gets old. Thanks for highlighting it and the earthcache Smile

In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

We also acknowledge the traditional custodians of New Zealand / Aoteroa, as we geocache throughout their land while on holiday.

18 years after our honeymoon and we've brought our teenagers along to see the grandeur of Fiordland. Mum's keen to pick up some earthcaches along the way. Our minds are blown to imagine just how big the glaciers were that helped form all this beauty.

We are on our long-awaited journey around the world in 99 days. Second try after canceling in 2020.
Our third stop after Los Angeles and Hawaii is New Zealand.

This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Today we visited Milford Sound and while that time we were searching for the Earthcache **The forgotten Darran Glacier**.

At the given coordinates the needed answers where found quickly and after sending them, ther is a new smile on our geocaching map!

At least we would like to take this opportunity to thank **Heidenspass** for the interesting information and for creating this Earthcache!

spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.

With mostly very nice Cool weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed

We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared Wink
So this box was also well found.

now I have another Smile on my personal cache card.

many thanks to [^] **Thundercatcher** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

Hello,
on a beautiful day we visited Milford Sound today. On the way back we enjoyed the view over this valley and are always amazed by the beauty of nature. Thank you for creating this Earthcache and greetings from Germany

I am helping out my kids who are doing the Routeburn Track. So I am caching when I can from Christchurch to Queenstown to Glenorchy to Te Anau and then back to Christchurch.
Jude_E just sent our answers in. We made a quick stop here on the way back from our day in Milford. Sadly we didn't get much of a view due to the weather.

Nosynel and I spent a day travelling to Milford Sound from Te Anau. It was raining heavily some of the time and clear at other times. We stopped at the lookout here. I have always thought that walking the Hollyford would be nice but I may have left my run too late! Our answers have been forwarded to the CO.
A beautiful area to pull off the road at to admire the scenery. Thanks for thinking of putting an earthcache here.

What an amazing valley and former glacier!

I'm in awe of how incredible this must have been so long ago before people walked this area.

So easy to imagine all manner of giant sized beasts soaring in the skies around, or pressing their heavy footprints into the ice and snow of the glacier that is no more.

Thank you for enlightening me to this almost entirely forgotten valley that was carved and created by ice.

This is also my first find in 2023!
Gifting me a souvenir too!

Stopped and enjoyed the view and information. There must have been so much noise and force as the glacier divided in three.

That’s a truly spectacular view worth pulling over for. Tftc

We are holiday from California, mostly touring the South Island by Campervan. After an excellent day at Milford Sound yesterday, we are on a leisurely drive to Te Anau. Thought about stopping here on our way to Milford, but parking was much easier in this direction. Definitely hard to imagine the glacier size! Thanks for helping “remember” the glacier. Answers sent.

Had a great cruise in Milford sound today and naturally did explore the earthcaches on the route. Bit of challenges due to lack of mobile coverage but paid wifi salvaged the situation to enable offline loads at the terminal. Thanks for the ec and greetings from Finland.

Heading to Milford Sound for the day with a few stops of course! A lovely autumn day all be it a bit chilly we were lucky to not strike any rain along the way...just colder and colder the closer we got as the snow on the hills got closer and closer. What an amazing spot and incredible reading about the glacier that was once in the valley in front TFTC

1576. 2:54 pm. Glad I had at least saved this Earthcache for offline viewing. What a stunning roadside stop and an awe-inspiring example of glacial geomorphology without an existing nearby glacier. Found with eKitten, GRAkiWi, Li0npaw and Jenryellea. TFT(glacial earth)C.

Its been a long time in the planning but finally the week long trip to the South Island to complete the Routeburn Track is here. Day #2 and a trip to explore Milford Sound. Have wanted to do this for AGES so it was great to finally be here. After an amazing experience at the Sound (it was POURING when we started and then the sun came out...like 2 total different places) we stopped along the route back to TeAnau.

We had stopped here along the way in but couldn't see a thing so stopped again on the way back and it was stunning.

Thanks for the cache.

The plan has been a in the cards for a while. I failed to complete the Routeburn track due to poort weather and wanted to finish it.
5 years on, I invited Keylev to come along as I was sure there was some caching to be done. a year on and here we are.

Keylev answered on my behalf. Great view on the return from the sounds! TFTC

We are luck enough to be able to travel and Milford Sound was on the list. Passing through here there are spectacular views, this spot being one of them. Is great to learn a little bit about how the area and valleys are formed as well.
Thanks for setting this up

We had a day trip through to Milford stopping at many caches along the way. Thanks for bringing us here.

We stopped off at this interesting spot on the way to Milford. The road was quiet, so we had the place to ourselves. Great views of the mountains and valleys today. Thanks for setting up this EC.

I write "WRITE NOTE" because it is a time when we can't go on a long adventure, so I travel in the memories of my visits to New Zeusemad. Of this adventure in New Zealand, I only stretch Travel Bug. Writing "FOUND IT" is probably not right anymore, it wasn't today, but I was here before. And unfortunately I won't get here again.

I am sending a beautiful greeting from the Czech Republic. Smile

We had a fantastic day with a bus and boat tour to Milford sounds. We stopped here briefly on the way in. In fact we also stopped 200 meters up further for morning tea. It would have been unheard of to be able to park a bus here in pre covid days as the traffic volume so high. Thanks for setting up this earth cache.
