Stopped nearby for supplies and noticed this solved puzzle not far off. Quick find, my first of the kiwi geotrail. Thanks (in advance) for the whole series.
It's been a long time coming, as I solved most of this GeoTrail's mysteries a few years ago, but ran out of time to find. Cache is in fabulous order. TFTC XBX/RedEcho
Day caching in Wellington and Mana/Paremata area. #24 Puzzles completed back home in Sydney, some with assistance from the CO. TFTC RedEcho
#278. Busy area especially at the parking spot. My ninja skills had to be on a whole different level. Successful mission. Another Kiwi marked off. TFTC
Getting a few school holiday caches, a quick find here. Nice to get a little bit more of the kiwi completed. Thanks RedEcho!
I'm not usually great at finding caches in locations like this but I got it surprisingly quick! All good no issues here
Solved ages ago. Quick find today for 3rd mystery dot day in 4 days Thanks RedEcho
Inner pill bottle now unstuck! A well meaning finder had wrapped it in a small plastic bag which was then jammed into the outer pill bottle. Needed pliers to remove. It should not need plastic as the log paper is supposed to be water and tear proof and its contained within two pill bottles. Happy hunting to the next one looking for this cache.
Down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash after our late arrival, due to cancelled and then delayed flights, but I was determined to find a cache or two on our first day here.
The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and so I had made a point of solving them all in the last month and was hoping that I might get a chance to knock off some of them whilst down this way.
Around 4:30 ish, the weather cleared up a bit, so I convinced muggle daughter to go for an evening walk in the fading light. Being her local patch now, she had quickly learnt where the trails and tracks were. Passed by this one on our way back from the estuary and managed to make a relatively quick find here. Unfortunately though, the inner pill bottle was stuck firmly and neither of us could grip the slippery plastic firmly enough with fingernails to get it out, so took a photo instead. TFTC

I was up this way from Wellington to take mum out for a Mother's Day lunch. We went to Raumati Social club and had a great time catching up.
On my way home I noticed the petrol situation was dire. I also noticed I had solved the mystery around this nearby cache quite some time ago and decided to take a look.
I parked nearby and there was no muggles anywhere in sight. A brief stroll and I soon made the find and signed the log.

KTG and I started working on the Geotrail. We have spent the last few weeks working out all the clues.... now it's time to turn the kiwi into 1 big smiley face. TFTC
Its lucky I had my GPS to help show me the best way to access the GZ, Quick find here, cheers
Raced ahead on the puzzle and missed a couple of bits to it. Soon corrected and likely co-ordinates determined. My first run at solving and collecting a few at a time in a few planned visits to the area - to see if I can colour that kiwi! TFTC.
Stayed the weekend in Whitby doing some of the Kiwi trail. Day 2 and collected 5 more with 1 DNF. Enjoyed the walk between caches. Thanks for the extra clues at GZ. Thanks for the smiley.
A dual effort with TharntheHalken solved the first batch of KiwiGT puzzles. Today, a glorious autumn day to come looking. An easy find as per hint. Log a bit fragile, but signable. Tftc!
Third one on this trail- I must sort my waypoints!
As already mentioned, log very damp
Many thanks for this

Always nice to find a cache on Friday after a long week at work! Love the Kiwi series. There was quite a bit of water in the outside container and the cache is damp. Not holding together too well. Didn’t have a replacement with me sorry. TFTC
Another kiwi crossed off the list. Log is very damp though so couldn't sign. Took photos though
One of three kiwi caches located this afternoon. Needed at least one to deal to a dot day. Found this one with no difficulty. #3476. TFTC.
I solved all these puzzles in the middle of last year, and have been out looking for the caches sporadically since then. I came out to get another handful today - when I arrived here there was somebody parked right next to GZ; I was going to abandon my search before it started, but they made a timely departure before I'd gone too far. After that it was a quick find, the same type of hide as the previous one. My 20th of the series. Thanks to the COs for the puzzle and the hide!
I have lost my notebook! When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a log book or, in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks.
.Now #8 is tagged. Cheers
Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving abilities.
Day 23 - Saturday, 4 January 2020. Wellington. It the Kiwi series at Paramata today. Then The Seagnoid ships out. Sadly holiday over today.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

I'm sure I've had a look for this one before but it was an instant find today. TFTC # 14,779
I tried and failed to understand these clues 3 or 4 years ago when new to geocaching and soon gave up. Now my son MightyMicra has started we had a combined look at them and finally got over the hurdle. Cracked a dozen or so today! TFTC.
Today is the 14th day of our journey to the south island. I had planned to complete the Kiwi Geotrail before we head to Wellington to take the ferry to the south island. Having arrived near the Lake yesterday I was able to pick up seven of the series on our way to the campsite after visiting Rivendell and eating dinner in the Upper Hut area. We spent the night at the edge of the lake and after eating breakfast I started to collect the Kiwi Caches at around 9:30am.
I mannaged to find 55 caches today, 54 of which to complete the Kiwi. It took me a total of 10 1/2 hours to complete the trail at 8:00pm in a rather slow pace.
This was # 41 of 55 caches today.
The puzzle took a bit longer to solve but it was a quick find at GZ. Tftc

Took over a week to solve all these puzzles. Some involved a lot of swearing but finally cracked them. Kids excited to come find them. This was our first!
Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).
I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.
#60 of 70 today. Fantastic parking here and a good chance to use the local facilities across the road and get more food to continue our journey.

I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.
In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.
We were truly on the final straight for this series by the time we decided to park up right by this cache. The parking was very convenient, both for grabbing this cache and walking to another nearby, plus the handy refuelling facilities where we could grab some sustenance and relief
I made the find here myself, whilst Stardust joined me for the signing and replacement of the cache once everything was done. As an aside, we had to walk past a pumping station that I had once been inside about 20 years ago to help service the LPG powered V8 engine in readiness for any potential problems caused by the Millennium Bug! Funny to think that was before geocaching even existed!
Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.

A quick and easy find. Solved back in 2013 and today is the go get it day. A nice walk to GZ. Thanks
Today we are heading home so it is a slow trip to the airport from Plimmerton. We cached on the way and were in plenty of time to catch the big bird back to Christchurch. What a great MEGA weekend.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Day 9 of my road trip for WENZ Mega. On my own today so will follow my nose g well that was the plan until I got a text from the B&B owners... Firewoof had left his device behind and was already on his way home, and no cell number. So a call to Firewoof, (luckily I had his card as he joined us to get the night cache ladt night) and I was off over the Haywards to meet him nearby. Mission accomplished and as coming this side of the hills was an almost certainty today there is no point in going back now.
This one solved while in the final planning (most of the series solved some years ago but this one relocated from memory) and an easy find at GZ.
Thanks for the smilie XboomstickX and WhitbyTui.

Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

TFTC. Kiwi GeoTrail was oe of the targets for three keen MEGA attendees. KotukuSI and warfi were great companions and puzzle solvers in prep for this adventure.
We manged to complete the caches in a day (minus 2) and were truely warn out after our activities.
thanks to the original placer and the cachers who have taken over maintainence of the trail.

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...
Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... We enjoyed solving each of the puzzles in this series. Each one provided just the right amount of challenge. What a great variety of authentic kiwiana puzzles...
We managed to find most of the Kiwis in their hides. Some were in a lot better condition than others, and we can imagine how challenging it might be to maintain some of them. We found the speed and flow of traffic, and tight parking made things difficult at times. We learnt to be resourceful and resilient as the day drew on. In all, thanks to each of the COs for your input into this series... Apologies for the cut and paste logs. TFTP and TFTC.

Out caching the GeoArt with warfi & purdiepurdie; past the middle of the day & collective enthusiasm was waning a bit...
We had solved these puzzles over the last little while in anticipation of the Mega, but I wouldn't generally recommend doing them all in 1 hit ! The "northern wing" was definitely more fun than the southern side.
Thanks for maintaining these caches, WhitbyTui.

Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
Nanzie and I solved all of the trail in preparation for the Mega trip, now its time to see how many we can find. Thanks for the trail

This puzzle was only solved recently (in September). I'd sorted the puzzles into categories and focused on solving all puzzles in one category before moving on to the next category. Some of the puzzles I found easy and solved way back in 2015 and about 10 are still unsolved. A great series and I'll look forward to a yellow kiwi geoart eventually, TFTC
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Today we were targeting the Kiwi GeoTrail and trying to get fifty in a day which we just managed. This happened to include a lo of driving back and forth around the inlet and getting other side caches. but we managed a few walks in between for some of the other caches. Thanks to everyone who is maintaining these caches and keeping them going.
33rd of the kiwi geoart puzzle day with gely57. Some more walking around to get these caches. Easily found. TFTC.
Worked out the co-ords with Teahan Family and as we are both over for the MEGA event we tried to complete the series today. Some caches were found in very good condition (being looked after by SAROC) and some that are in need of attention with wet logs and rusty containers. Really enjoyed the series, thanks CO.
I am on a solo geocaching trip. I flew in from Christchurch yesterday. My focus today was my visit to the Dutch Embassy yo renew my passport. Once that was done it was back to geocaching. Concentrating on the Geo art and anything else that grabbed my attention.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

We decided earlier in the week we were going to head towards Wellington instead of the Napier Hastings areas as previously decided to get some caches and get numbers up to be able to collect the Hidden creatures souvonairs. last weekend we got 32 so we need another 68. this is cache number 22 for the day, a total of 54 caches towards the hidden creatures challenge. It was interesting trying to make our way to ground zeero not being from this area, makes driving a challenge on its own. once at ground zero it was the first lace we looked so we signed the log and placed it back exactly where we found it. cache is all good here. thank you for placing a cache here and bringing us o the area. TFTPC the last KIWI puzzle for the day. we will retyrn anoher day to collect some more we still have a few to get. TFTPC
# 1064 The Planetary Challenge encouraged me to revisit this series of caches that I had solved about four years ago and hadn't yet got around to collecting, as I had left the area and was now back. I was happy that in four years only four had to be resolved, so that is a great effort for a big series like this!
With DangerSAM in the DangerPRAM and Jimmy NZ in tow, we went for a sunday afternoon meander along a stretch of the basin that we had planned to take in a few of these caches.
This was the last first of the day and we had a good haul of six from this series today! An easy find in the first place I looked. Cache is in excellent condition - the double container definitely helps to keep the log dry. Great graffiti art near by (see picture)
Planetary Challenge completed too! Great to have a series of puzzle cache nearby to help me with that challenge. 23/61 of the Kiwi GeoTrail! Thanks to all CO and cachers who have contributed to this geo art and kept it going.

So Gr33nslime had been going on about this solar, universe challenge thing (?) for a few days and with the weekend approaching, we decided it was time to dust off the old geocaching shoes and go out on the hunt again. With master DangerSAM in tow we knew that we would have to be targeted at the caches we were going after and Gr33nslime was the one that inevitably came up with the answer. Tucked away in her geocaching tool box was her list of solved mystery caches. Turns out she had been really fastidious and solved a whole lot of the Kiwi GeoTrail series over in the Porirua Harbour area. This seemed like a good plan so we started looking for groupings of the mysteries and planned from there. Gr33nslime soon discovered however that some of the caches had moved and worse the puzzles changed! After a few hours though she had managed to correct enough of them that we could make a plan to hit them today. We parked up next to the train station and did a loop to get a few out around that way. It was a very good feeling this time that the first one we came across we found really easily. Actually, we didn’t have trouble with any of them today, so much so that we pushed out a little further and with DangerSAM enjoying all the cars to wave out we grabbed a few more. Today was probably the best day we’ve had getting these series so far. On the way home we decided to grab some fish and chips and eat them in a reserve that was, well next to another one as well. So all and all a great day out. DangerSAM got his full of chips and Gr33nslime and I managed to knock off another six from the series.
Extremely busy area tonight. Must be the rush hour. Managed to get a find though and the cache is all good. TFTC
I haven't been caching for a month as life has gotten in the way, so I decided last night that the weather was looking great and that a caching trip down to the Pauatahanui inlet to continue searching for the Kiwi Geotrail caches was in order. I solved most of these over a year ago, so this trip is well overdue. Left Feilding bright and early, stopped in Levin for breakfast and made it to my first cache still early in the day.
I had no problem locating this cache quickly, so I could head on to the next one.
I had no problem locating this cache quickly, so I could head on to the next one.
I originally adopted this when the cache had gone missing and the previous CO hadn't replaced it. As a result my first action was to place a new cache, and it's been 'unfound' on my list ever since. Having adopted the cache on to a new owner it's become fair game for me to 'hunt' again, so this was an easy find. The bushes have been cut back since my last visit so retrieval was easy, but the cache remains well hidden. Thanks to the new CO for taking this on.
Parked my car nearby this morning. In fact, 3.2m from the cache while I was sitting in the driver's seat. Quickly logged my visit and got on my way.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

Got up nice and early so I could get this one without being muggles. Nice quick find. Thanks.

Out today with Glad-nz and nzref picking up a few of the solved puzzle caches in the area. TFTC
#330. The trail has started for me. First of the Kiwi Geotrail to start this adventure. Lovely spot in the sun today. Now for the 2nd one! Tftc!
out with RR on our trip around the world, mostly in New Zealand, after I'd taken early retirement but I will still return to work doing 23 hours per week. What a beautiful sunny hot day again. Logs signed DD & RR. another puzzle I'd solved at home. this was soon found by RR. MTFTC
Cache soon found adding another smilie to our Kiwi on our geomap! Please see main log at no1 for full details. Many thanks
Travelling around the world with Dartmoor Deliverer helping her celebrate having taking early retirement!
NB Dont forget our Devon UK Mega 2017 GC6JZNY this August in the beautiful East Devon area of our county. UK Megas are over one week full of events and geocaching - a wonderful way to enjoy our county!

Solved this puzzle during our holidays We found the cache, thanks for the riddle and the cache, greetings from Switzerland.
Early morning find, on my way to WENZ 2018 - The Launch Party Event this afternoon. Thanks for the cache.
Solved a while ago so a good day to find a few in the puzzle series while the weather was blustery.
Quick find in the first place we looked.

#2606 Making the most of a beautiful Wellington day and clearing up some of the Kiwi Geotrail with bijouxtoo. He spotted this one. TFTC!
Was in the area to do another solved mystery cache which is not part of the series, so I took the opportunity to have another look here after a previous DNF some time ago. I am sure I looked here, looking at the logs around the time I suspect the cache may not have been hidden how it should be.
Straight to it today. Moisture had somehow penetrated the inner container but the bag had done its job of protecting the log.
Thanks to gasbottle and the other COs who have helped to keep this series going.

Unsure about being above or below for the cache- was located quickly and signed ready to attempt to find our last 3 kiwi art for the day
Quick find. Left Havelock North at 5am this morning picking up jodiporsche on the way. spending the night in welly collecting as many caches as we can including all the kiwi geo art caches. Log signed as b+p. Find # 3219. Thanks for the cache XboomstickX - adopted by gasbottle
At last . I've been trying to find this for three years.
Great to see this iconic piece of geoart has been adopted and refreshed.
Wonderful to find the container where I've looked many times before.

So despite yesterday's DNF apparently being logged after the CO's cache replacement it turned out that I'd visited just hours before the CO visit (I didn't know it was even missing). So thanks to gasbottle not only for adopting this cache and keeping it alive but making special effort to notify me that he replaced the cache very likely not long after my visit! So a quick stop there today to take a peek and went straight to the place I was expecting it to be and bingo there it was - although its camo meant I still had to look carefully. The double layer cache container made me think the CO's plan was "let's see you try and get damp now!" as has been the legacy of many kiwi trail caches. It's good the see the new cache owners addressing that. Got back to the car before the turbo timer had even shut off.
