Catching up on a couple of the archived caches I released I'd forgotten to log from the trip with BFG,D and GSEL. TFTC - still there and in good condition.
Another road trip to the Wairarapa, this time to pick up caches for the Mystery at the Museum. I headed out to Cape Palliser as I haven't been out this way for a few years - before I started geocaching so there's plenty for me to get.
Another quick find, and I rescued a trackable, however the code is unreadable. Apart from that, all good here. TFTC

Down to Palliser to enjoy the spring sun while it lasts and pick up some caches. Good spot, getting a bit warm by this point on the road down to Palliser. TFTC
A free weekend during a business trip. Time for sightseeing and caching. What a great experience.
I found this cache with Eddie6010.
Thanks a lot for that.

MEGA TRIP 2018.
As usual with the annual MEGA event, we partook in our annual MEGA Trip. However this year was a little different from others, with much more sleep and a little less time caching than usual, but just as much fun being had along the way.
The general goal for the trip was to focus on all the new Virtual caches published over the last year, visiting Cape Palliser (for the Southern most cache in the NI), and Castle Point, along with spending time at the MEGA Event. With this in mind hiring a campervan from Hamilton and seemed like the best way to tackle this goal, plus sleeping in a car with four people, would just be too cramped!
The trip was a great success, and our goals were achieved. A big thanks to all CO's for there hides.
LEG 3: Mega, Cape Palliser and Castle Point: Todays plan was to spend some time this morning at the Mega Event before heading off to Cape Palliser and then working our way North to Castle Point. Two places that have been on the to visit list for a while now.
On the way back from visiting Cape Palliser Lighthouse, so decided to find the caches along the road. A quick find here.

Well it's the WENZ Mega Weekend and a plan was hatched to motorhome (as we thought it would make a difference from sleeping in a car which is our normal accommodation method) down here in the company of HKCB, 11HPG11 & Alpenmilch80 and head for a few caches along the way.
As time was of the essence and we had planned to spend bugger all time at the actual mega but rather head for specific caches that we would otherwise not collect.
The record keeping for this trip was a total of 1750kms, (fuel = $450) and less than 100 caches, plenty of Beer & Wine and I still call it a complete success as we got what we came for.
Following about an hour at the WENZ Mega we headed for Cape Palliser (as this was a targeted area) before heading north again. What an amazing drive down here and a variety of sceanery along the coast. This was truly a highlight for us and many photos were taken.
We cached our way back up towards the Waiarapa and onwards to Castlepoint
thanks for the placement

During lunch time on Friday I flew into Wellington from Auckland to meet up with some crazy Hamilton’s (11HPG11, Cats&Dragons & HKCB) to spend some time at the 2018 WENZ Mega and then driving the huge campervan back to the Tron.
After the night spend with a hearty meal and good drinks we refreshed ourselves before moving in the direction of the mega. Afterwards we left the Hut to drive out to Cape Palliser. This find was collected on our way back. TFTC

It's Mega time! This year we decided to hire a motorhome and travel down in relative luxury, very different to the last few years. Our team this year consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and later on Alpenmilch80, and myself, logs were signed as MEGAHOAC. We went on a bit of a whirlwind trip round the lower half of the north island, chasing virtuals, earthcaches and anything a little bit different.
Slowly working our way round the coast line collecting what caches we can find and where we can find appropriate parking for our big vehicle. No problems here thanks

Off on a weekend trip to Wellington area to be at a friends wedding, it would be rude of me not to get a few caches along the way
Off to Lake Ferry for a wedding, and I was early... and there are caches in the area... better get some of them! Never been down this area before, so it was nice to collect this. Cache in good condition!
TFTC skindo, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 11 find(s) of 13 today, making this find #1845

Down from Auckland for a 3 day adventure to capture caches far and wide. Me and rustynz and Rebel98 are heading around the coast doing this and that. This cache was along the way so we stopped..
On a 3 day caching adventure with a group of Westies: rustynz, rebel98 and gorby

A nice wee drive down from base at the DOC camp. This one was a nice quick drive by. TFTC!!!
On the road for our first venture into the North Island with our little caravan to explore this part of the country. It is not a caching expedition but we do manage to stop for one or two . Our travels brought us to your cache – many thanks, skindo, for bringing us to this spot. We’ve had great fun on the way, and look forward to finding a couple more caches as we travel on our way. TFTC.
When I saw the cache name, I was confident about what type of hide to expect. This confidence was rewarded and I soon completed my mission.
I didn't find the obvious hint, but with a choice of only two locations it wasn't going to take me long to find this.

#4744. A sunny Saturday and I need to get my cache numbers up for the month. So decided another adventure in the southern Wairarapa was on the cards. So drove over here in the morning and after doing a few at the northern end of the lake, it was time to head south. Heading towards Cape Palliser now. Its still nice and sunny but the wind has really picked up. Parked nearby and walked back for a quick find. Signed and replaced the cache back where found. Thanks for the cache skindo.
I have a full day meeting in Wellington starting early on Monday morning, so I decided to take a leisurely route to it, via a two day tour of the Wairarapa. Booked me a cute little Airbnb cottage in Masterton and planned a route to an area that I have never been before. Left the Manawatu in the pre-dawn light to make the most of the day and it has been an awesome day, with springlike weather, and full of lighthouses, seals and of course, braces, powerpoles and caches.
No problems finding the cache here today. Signed, returned and back to the car to head on to the next one. TFTC

Doing a couple of days geocaching in Wairarapa. After arriving decided to go as far south as possible and collect caches on the way back. The whole trip to Cape Palliser was fantastic the weather was great and the sea looked big, but may actually have been calm for this coast. All the caches along the coast are appreciated. Thanks for them all.
Got 'the flu'.

Beautiful place and we're so fortunate to have been here on a superb day! Does it get any better than this? Left a dose of the 'flu behind for the next cacher. www.thesoloavocado.com (Australia)

Out with Loth making our way to Cape Palliser. Logged many caches on the way and we hiked through the Putangirua Pinnacle to see the paths of the dead. We also saw seals along the beach and rocks. Tftc!!
A quick park and grab, geokid found it before Wed crossed the road. TFTC

We were wondering about the significance of this spot. Decided there didn't need to be any, just a place to put a cache and enjoy the view.

Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.
We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.
We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.
It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.
We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.
And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.
Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually. TFTC!!!

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!
Thanks!

A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.
To save time and log space, we signed the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC!
