Ventured out in the rain to grab this one. Solved the puzzle yesterday and was impressed with it. Not normally a fan of these types of cache as they make me feel dumb, but this one was the opposite! TFTC. Fun!
Day caching in Wellington and Mana/Paremata area. #23 Puzzles completed back home in Sydney, some with assistance from the CO. Fantastic hide! TFTC RedEcho
After being hidden in plain sight for four years this cache and its concealment were missing when I walked by yesterday. I've now re-created it and put in back place today. Hope it survives for your enjoyment.
#280. This one was a satisfying find. Neat hide. Despite the ongoing traffic passing by muggles wouldn't have a clue what you're doing as they can't exactly stop and hold the busy traffic up. Fav point for the effort on the hide. TFTC.
We began the Kiwi GeoTrail mission back in December of 2014! Yea I know good things take time but today we decided to get out there and make a bit of a dent in the puzzles we have completed but not yet logged.
10th cache of the day and had to park up the road a bit and stroll back to get this one. As we were getting close to GZ with the GPS counting down, It started looking like there was only one place it could really be..... Sure enough, Geo-senses working well today. Top container all in great shape. Gets a FP from me.

Down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but today dawned bright and clear with almost no wind.
So while the other half had a sleep in, I headed out for a walk to pick up a few local caches. The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and so I had made a point of solving them all in the last month, so they were the prime target this morning.
Didn't take long at GZ to locate the nice HIPSter cache, even with muggles riding up and down the hill and I was soon able to sign the log and then replace securely as found. TFTC

KTG and I started working on the Geotrail. We have spent the last few weeks working out all the clues.... now it's time to turn the kiwi into 1 big smiley face. TFTC
Nice simple puzzle and a cool hide, which and I spotted at we were approaching the cache. TFTC. KTG
Checked this out today. The container is necessarily quite tight due to the location. Waggle up and down and/or side to side whilst extracting and it will be revealed.
Pretty sure I found clever hide but could not extract it, very wedged in. Enjoyed puzzle too. FP from me. TFTC
On our way back to base after the beach cleanup event. Nice hide. Favourite point from us.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Out caching with TharntheHalken, doing some more of the Kiwi GT. Quick find as per hint. All good in cache, tftc!
Walking this leg instead of biking because you know I love caching but I want to live...
Very clever hide ('new' location)

Like this one. Walking the area picking up my first 10 or so solved Geo puzzles. Looking forward to working my way thorough this series. This was another fun puzzle and a super cool hide to boot. Fav from me. Thanks RedEcho.
Have spent last week solving these puzzles with just 6 unsolved. Spending the weekend in Porirua so decided to start collecting as many as I can today. Got the right direction. Great hide Cache all fine. Happy to add to the favourites. Thanks for the smiley.
What a clever hiding spot! Managed to get it in between car traffic going by. Someone’s been very busy clearing the bank near here- now covered in black weed mat. Wonder what this will look like in a couple of years?!
An easy solve and an easy find (wicm jnr found it before I arrived!) Making slow progress through the series. TFTC.
One of three kiwi caches located this afternoon. Needed at least one to deal to a dot day. Took a moment or two to find this one. Started studying the tree initially! However it was the hint that directed me elsewhere. #3477. TFTC.
Found with 13YO. What beautiful buildings we have dotted around the country. Some ive not seen in person for many years.. might be time to plan a road trip.. TFTC
I have lost my notebook! When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a notebook or, as in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks.
OK #5 is in the bag. cheers
.Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving abilities.
Day 23 - Saturday, 4 January 2020. Wellington. It the Kiwi series at Paramata today. Then The Seagnoid ships out. Sadly our 3 week holiday to Taranaki is over today.
Seen heaps, done heaps. Loved it. The Kiwi series is our finale. Cheers

Found this one today on a walk with Dad aka RedEcho close by. Inventive hide and soon had cache in hand. The hint helped. Have to time this cache grab carefully given the volume of muggles driving past. My FTF given the new location. Thanks to RedEcho who has recently adopted this cache. Tftc.
New spot found for the cache. Only 10 paces from original location. Two pieces of puzzle changed. Have fun solving all of the puzzles like I have with my son MightMicra. This is my first hide.

Working on a new location very close to original. There will be some puzzle changes to reflect the new location and change to the hint. May be a week or two before I am up to speed with all of the changes.

Hi all, this one is (should be) in a spot which is now probably not allowed. I shall have to rejig the coordinates and see where else I can place it. Due to the Kiwi GeoTrail taking up 61 spots in the area, it's getting harder to find locations to place caches, but I shall try! Thank you for your patience. I shall post again when this can be reactivated. I have a commitment for the next couple of weeks, so it's unlikely I'll be able to get to it before Nov 17th.
Hunted forever for this one but dnf. Brought along RedEcho who previously found this cache a number of years ago and he also could not find cache this time round. Suspect it may have been muggled but will keep an eye out if anyone logs as found in the future.
Another quick find for the kids as they work their way through the kiwi geotrail. TFTC.
Been fun solving and grabbing these. Today we took advantage of the sun and came to find a few. This was a quick find by mr 8.
Today is the 14th day of our journey to the south island. I had planned to complete the Kiwi Geotrail before we head to Wellington to take the ferry to the south island. Having arrived near the Lake yesterday I was able to pick up seven of the series on our way to the campsite after visiting Rivendell and eating dinner in the Upper Hut area. We spent the night at the edge of the lake and after eating breakfast I started to collect the Kiwi Caches at around 9:30am.
I mannaged to find 55 caches today, 54 of which to complete the Kiwi. It took me a total of 10 1/2 hours to complete the trail at 8:00pm in a rather slow pace.
This was # 46 of 55 caches today. We are now down to the last 10 caches to complete this trail. The puzzle for this one was solved a few weeks ago. We had parked at the nearby carpark and I made my way to GZ once there it was a quick find with my head torch.

Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).
I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.
#56 of 70 today. Nice quick find here today. All good with the container and log sheet.

I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.
In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.
Parking issues meant we had to walk to this cache from nearby, but once at GZ the cache was an obvious find for us seasoned cachers lol! Once you pop, you just can't stop...signing the log that is, and then it was back to the car to get to the next one.
Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.
PS: You might need to update the cache page, as the description of the cache container is obviously out of date!

Enjoyed the hide here but I thought it was firmly wedged shut. Then I spied a tiny lip which saved the day for my teeth and fingernails. TFTC # 13,760
Day 9 of my road trip for WENZ Mega. After a reduce mission I was in the right place to find much of this series. Most were solved some years ago.
Rather than risk live, limb or rental car I opted for the relatively nearby parking area with safe passage to the other side.
Initially ruled out the place I eventually went back to, but didn't take too long to have it in hand.
Thanks for the smilie XboomstickX and WhitbyTui.

Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

TFTC. Kiwi GeoTrail was oe of the targets for three keen MEGA attendees. KotukuSI and warfi were great companions and puzzle solvers in prep for this adventure.
We manged to complete the caches in a day (minus 2) and were truely warn out after our activities.
thanks to the original placer and the cachers who have taken over maintainence of the trail.

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...
Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... We enjoyed solving each of the puzzles in this series. Each one provided just the right amount of challenge. What a great variety of authentic kiwiana puzzles...
We managed to find most of the Kiwis in their hides. Some were in a lot better condition than others, and we can imagine how challenging it might be to maintain some of them. We found the speed and flow of traffic, and tight parking made things difficult at times. We learnt to be resourceful and resilient as the day drew on. In all, thanks to each of the COs for your input into this series... Apologies for the cut and paste logs. TFTP and TFTC.

Out caching the GeoArt with warfi & purdiepurdie; past the middle of the day & collective enthusiasm was waning a bit...
We had solved these puzzles over the last little while in anticipation of the Mega, but I wouldn't generally recommend doing them all in 1 hit ! The "northern wing" was definitely more fun than the southern side.
Thanks for maintaining these caches, WhitbyTui.

Headed to the Nation's capital for a Mad Mission with Team_Gaters to visit the MEGA and have a blast hooning around in our rental car. I grabbed TG at 5.30 am to get to the airport and we picked up the car from the airport at 8am. We figured we needed to be back at the depot by 4.30ish. We had a blast we didn't get crazy amounts of caches but we did get heaps of different types and scored the oldest one for TG. We ended up only driving 150km for the day. The weather was good. Caches were fun and bumped into a few cachers on the road.
Another one off the art work.
Thanks for the cache WhitbyTui.

Talking with TheWanglers, an age ago it seems; that if WENZ made Mega we should look at taking a daytrip up from Christchurch to visit.....It did; and as it worked out - we could. So here we are. Early morning flight in, and a late afternoon flight out. A day trip full of fun, caches, dodgy parking...and more fun.
Managed to score a dodgy carpark and make the find on a busy road. Nice hide.

I like ones like this. We are not enjoying the traffic in this area, but the find was a good one. tftc
Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
Nanzie and I solved all of the trail in preparation for the Mega trip, now its time to see how many we can find. Thanks for the trail

We're on a 10 day geocaching trip from the far north. This is our 6th day. I was aiming for a long line of smiles down SH1, solved puzzles, different cache types and highly favourited caches. I've been looking forward to collecting this series for years. These building puzzles were easy I thought and were some of the ones I solved way back in 2015. This was a cool hide, thanks
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Today we were targeting the Kiwi GeoTrail and trying to get fifty in a day which we just managed. This happened to include a lo of driving back and forth around the inlet and getting other side caches. but we managed a few walks in between for some of the other caches. Thanks to everyone who is maintaining these caches and keeping them going.
36th of the kiwi geoart puzzle day with gely57. Very hidden in plain sight cache. TFTC.
Worked out the co-ords with Teahan Family and as we are both over for the MEGA event we tried to complete the series today. Some caches were found in very good condition (being looked after by SAROC) and some that are in need of attention with wet logs and rusty containers. Really enjoyed the series, thanks CO.
Great puzzle, cool hide - have seen a similar one before otherwise it would have taken me longer to find it
Trying to cross the road was harder than solving the puzzle lol. Taking your life in your hands doing that. Soon had the cache in hand. Great puzzle. Signed and replaced as found. TFTC
# 1067 The Planetary Challenge encouraged me to revisit this series of caches that I had solved about four years ago and hadn't yet got around to collecting, as I had left the area and was now back. I was happy that in four years only four had to be resolved, so that is a great effort for a big series like this!
With DangerSAM in the DangerPRAM and Jimmy NZ in tow, we went for a sunday afternoon meander along a stretch of the basin that we had planned to take in a few of these caches.
This was the fourth of the day and we had a good haul of six from this series today! Love these types of caches hidden in plain sight! All good inside too.
Planetary Challenge completed too! Great to have a series of puzzle cache nearby to help me with that challenge. 25/61 of the Kiwi GeoTrail! Thanks to all CO and cachers who have contributed to this geo art and kept it going.

So Gr33nslime had been going on about this solar, universe challenge thing (?) for a few days and with the weekend approaching, we decided it was time to dust off the old geocaching shoes and go out on the hunt again. With master DangerSAM in tow we knew that we would have to be targeted at the caches we were going after and Gr33nslime was the one that inevitably came up with the answer. Tucked away in her geocaching tool box was her list of solved mystery caches. Turns out she had been really fastidious and solved a whole lot of the Kiwi GeoTrail series over in the Porirua Harbour area. This seemed like a good plan so we started looking for groupings of the mysteries and planned from there. Gr33nslime soon discovered however that some of the caches had moved and worse the puzzles changed! After a few hours though she had managed to correct enough of them that we could make a plan to hit them today. We parked up next to the train station and did a loop to get a few out around that way. It was a very good feeling this time that the first one we came across we found really easily. Actually, we didn’t have trouble with any of them today, so much so that we pushed out a little further and with DangerSAM enjoying all the cars to wave out we grabbed a few more. Today was probably the best day we’ve had getting these series so far. On the way home we decided to grab some fish and chips and eat them in a reserve that was, well next to another one as well. So all and all a great day out. DangerSAM got his full of chips and Gr33nslime and I managed to knock off another six from the series.
A long weekend, full moon and daylight savings ends tonight. Taking advantage of the extra hour for some night caching. TFTC
A clever little hide here, having a screwdriver was handy.
A clever little hide here, having a screwdriver was handy.
Zero luck here. Think I found where the cache is supposed to go but I could also be way off.
I haven't been caching for a month as life has gotten in the way, so I decided last night that the weather was looking great and that a caching trip down to the Pauatahanui inlet to continue searching for the Kiwi Geotrail caches was in order. I solved most of these over a year ago, so this trip is well overdue. Left Feilding bright and early, stopped in Levin for breakfast and made it to my first cache still early in the day.
Found a log shoved up a pipe by a previous finder but determined that this probably wasn't the cache as I have found a few of this type of camo before.
Located the correct container and put both logs in the right spot. TFTC

Nice night for a couple of grabs, log was missing so have replaced it (no plastic bag sorry) out with NZ1 and Glad-NZ
I stopped nearby and walked back up to GZ. I was so confident about finding it I left my device in the car. I like to try finding them without the GPS every now and then just for fun.
It didn't take long at all!
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

This has got to be one of my favourite caches, the hiding spot was SO cleaver! TFTC
ThiS had gone missing again so I've changed the nature of the hide and updated the listing slightly. Good to go now.
Out with NZ1 and NZREF on a wet morning. Good opportunity to get a few solved caches of the series found. No luck here today.
After a wee hold up at Christchurch airport due to fog my Wellington solo trip began. I decided to start at Johnsonville and then see what happened next.
Find number two of the series. Luckily it is a nice day for walking.

On Friday night Mr watcache said do you want to go for a drive to Porirua on saturday after I finish work, I'm like really we been that way a bit this week already, he had seen something he wanted to show me so ok we set off just before lunch. stopped a few times along the way to look at particular vehicles and vans. After that it was time to get a few caches this being the first for the day. didn't take us to long to locate make our mark on the log and place the cache back where we found it A lot of traffic and a few muggles, but none interested in what we were up to. cache was all good here. TFTPC now onto the next one.
I'm enjoying solving this trail, but this cache was similar to the others I've claimed: in this case parking was fraught and stream of muggle cars. Seemed to take a while to find, but only because was trying to be discreet during momentary breaks in traffic. TFTC gasbottle.
#2609 Making the most of a beautiful Wellington day and clearing up some of the Kiwi Geotrail with bijouxtoo. I ran from the last cache to here and met bijouxtoo at the next one. Made it easier parking wise. TFTC!
Found an appropriate parking spot and then went for a walk to retrieve the cache. An easy find as we get towards the end of the kiwi art. TFTC
No parking here had to run back to cache. quick find. Left Havelock North at 5am this morning picking up jordiporsche on the way. An overnight stay in welly to grab as many caches as we can including all the kiwi geo art puzzle's. Log signed as b&p.Tftc XboomstickX - adopted by gasbottle. Find # 3211
Nice find while passing through on a dark and windy night. Cache log full and slightly damp. TFTC
Another highly exposed location on the kiwi geo trail. I was walking by on a sunny Saturday monrning so I thought I'd see if it was gettable without any conspicious searching. I spotted a likely hide as I was walking past it, waited for a gap in the traffic and quickly ducked down to take a peek. Yep, retrieved in seconds. It probably looked like I was playing with my phone while signing the log. Pity the cache isn't nearer to the seat about 50m down the road. Cache replaced quickly in another traffic gap.
Log is full. Still possible to shoehorn a sig into some gaps but really needs a new one.
Found during a morning's caching searching out some previously solved "Kiwi GeoTrail" caches.
Log totally full and also saturated.
