It was great to see the mine and port and understand what makes King Island tick. The footy oval is in immaculate condition and ready for the start of the season!
Found with raindoctor during our visit to Grassy before heading back to Currie for a game of golf at King Island Golf Club.We arrived well before dusk but saw and smelt plenty of signs of the little penguins
Found 08:40 whilst visiting the Island for a couple of days.TNLN, thanks for the cache.
Drove out to the end, we didn't see any penquins or eggs. Wazza9 made the find, stamped the log and replaced. took trackable to travel
After spotting the two eggs in the nest, most likely abandoned by this stage. Also, what seems to be obvious penguin activity around the area. I decided to pull the pin and not have a look any further.
TFTC. Cache and contents are in excellent condition. Beautiful walk around the point.
The wife and I came to King Island for our 15 year wedding anniversary. Caching was just the ticket to see what the island has to offer. A beautiful spot. TFTC.
MontsII flew over on a light plane from Victoria, eager to explore the island and find some caches. He soon found this one! Thanks for placing the cache jerms12.
Very very blustery here today, but thanks to our friend Peter, he climbed down to find the cache.
Wild wild weather today many eyes assisted especially from nongeo friend, loved looking over to the swell power unit
We enjoyed Grassy. First we checked out the lookout and then the harbour, found the cache and then went up the hill to Wild Harvest foe the most delicious dinner. We made our way back down the hill and were the only ones greeting the penguins back to shore for the evening.
It spite of it being wet and windy, we headed to Grassy for a look around. Seems the weather kept everyone indoors as noone else was around.
Good coordinates and the good hint made this a quick find for us. And a nice sized cache it is too. And we are the first visitors this year to sign the log. Woohoo!
The cache and contents are in great condition.
And then we spotted a little penguin sheltering under a rock overhang. Fantastic!
Thanks jerms12 for placing this cache.

This morning we headed south to Grassy. There was little activity down at the port when we arrived but it was blowing a gale. We drove out onto the breakwater and got a different perspective of the port than we had obtained from the other side. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. We didn't see any penguins but given that it was the middle of the day, we did not expect to. Thanks jerms12 for placing this cache.
On our first day on King Is we had some time to look where the penguins are (not at the right time of day, so a good recce). Found the cache quickly before exploring.
Found 20/2/20 17:51
I was a bit early for the penguins but I’m pretty sure I heard one nearby . The cache took longer to find than it should have but there were many options to explore before it was discovered and the best angle of extraction was determined
Cheers jerms12

Finally had some time today to look for this one. Hint did help and GPS did work as well. Had some trouble to get the container out of the rocks but after a little trying I eventually got it out.
Spotted some spear gun doods getting ready for a dip. Hope penguins aren’t in their sights.
Cache well tucked away was no match for geo babe.

What an interesting area! Loved that we could almost drive to GZ. Quick find due to hint.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Have to be careful around this one, get down early to find it before it gets dark!
Our last day on the island, we headed off in the rain and drizzle to try some more roads and find the last cache. We were already wet and it was the middle of the day so we did the walk all around and saw some very interesting rocks, very pretty patterns. Made a scramble for the cache at the end and replaced as found.

Final find for a fun day of coaching around the island. Awesome hiding place! TFTC
Back home after a week over Christmas on the lovely and interesting King Island. Didn't go on the internet all week so catching up with our logging. Of course, we preloaded all seven 'live' caches (pity the eighth has been taken down).
This was our fourth cache. We were somewhat unsure about the placement of this one for a couple of reasons. First, it is in an area which may be actually inhabited by penguins, so there could be young around; perhaps it wasn't the case four years ago when it was placed. Second, according to the logbook, it has been found by muggles more than once! Fortunately they have been good ones, otherwise the cache could have been vandalised (we've seen that in the past!). One muggle log referred to searching for, and touching, penguins.
Just something to think about.

Our first cache in a long time and our first cache in Tassie. Here before the arrived. TFTC.
Had a lovely dinner nearby and come to watch the penguins return for the day. Awesome experience. Much better than the tourist trap one on the mainland, i.e. Phillip Island. TNLNSL.
Thanks jerms12 for this one. Great to find it still active. Cache in good order. RoamingParsons.
PS - No sign of the Travel Bug SRIMEL. Sadly it must have gone missing.

Beautiful spot, HUNDREDS of penguins... such a special opportunity to see them without the hustle and bustle of tourist traps (Phillip Island!). Sunset find, then settled in to watch the penguins- nice reason to get down that end of the island too.
Very handy to where we are staying at Portside. A bit early in the day for penguins. Will come back some other time to see them.
Dropped off Srimel TB - wants to go to France... It's a long way from here!

Found on a quiet Saturday afternoon. No one else was out and about... something to do with some football game. An easy find with Canaped. Cheers from Team Bearsley!
Over in king island on a holiday and decided to come down and look at the beautiful views. Compass was playing up so I used the hint as a guide
It's still there.
Sailed down as part of the Melbourne to king island race and took the opportunity to look for this one. The previous dnf had me a little concerned as the weather was not going to be in our favour if we hung about too long.
Luckily, it was a quick find and the log was duly signed. Took nothing left nothing. Too early for the penguins however although the stink confirmed their presence.

Unfortunately a DNF. We have had trouble finding caches in rocks before though usually we are eventually successful. Here we were also concerned about disturbing the penguins in their burrows. We didn't want to put our hands in holes that might be burrows or move rocks that might end up blocking a burrow or opening up an entry for a predator. Also there were so many holes and stacks of rocks that could be hiding a cache it was almost impossible to cover them all.
For some reason our GPS was jumping all over the place which didn't help. (Any excuse ...)
We emailed the cache owner and he was very nice and gave us some extra hints but still no luck.
We didn't actually get to see a penguin although we could hear them in their burrows as it got darker. Perhaps well see some elsewhere in Tassie.
TFTC jerms12, KI is a great spot

A day working on King Island had me searching for caches the day prior to see what I could possibly find. This cache had been on my radar as it still hadn't been found, could I achieve a FTF on King Island? I first visited a customer at Lymwood then made the short trip to Grassy Harbour.
A nice drive around the break wall had me parked near GZ where I took the time to read the signs about the Little Penguins, then searched for the cache. Within 5 minutes soon had the cache in my hands and on opening the log found it was empty except a note from the CO. Yep FTF!!! wooohooo. Thanks for the FTF prize, Katy thinks he is pretty cute!! Signed the log and then replaced the cache.
Thanks for the cache jerms12.
