A nice quick find. NIcely looked after old buildings! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are heading North again to visit family. Today we cruised up to Ohakune, with overcast skies and the odd light rain. The traffic was good, as were the caches.Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
I realized that thing should not be there, so I looked at it and discovered that the reason it was there was that it was the cache. TFTC.
A quick easy find of a very nicely hidden cache which gets a favourite from us. TFTC
What a tricky place to hide a cache, took us quite a search, but persistence paid off. Thanks for taking us to this historic place, love new adventures! TfTC
Having made a late afternoon dash across from Upper Hutt to find a new cache with TwigNZ, we decided to pick up a few extras towards this month's puzzle. This was one of them.
Pulled up the car close to GZ. A short hunt turned up the cache. A clever hide! All good inside the container, tftc!

I popped over the hill after work today with Matagouri, in order to chase a FTF (which we got) and afterwards we decided to look for a few more caches before grabbing some dinner.
This was one we tried for, and found. It was dark, but I had a decent torch with me and I made the find after a short search. No issues here, and the log was soon signed before the whole thing was replaced as found.
Thanks for bringing me here tonight.

15 April 2023. I was invited by GSEL for a quick dash over to the Wairarapa to sign off the new caches in the area. This was one we visited, which GSEL had previously found. Good thing too, as I initially looked in the wrong place and found an empty container which I mistook for the cache (now cito'd). Then I looked where I should have done the first time, and was able to sign the real thing. FP for the location and the hide.
TFTC wascox for placing this geocache, number 12544 for me.

Nice quick find. Lovely cluster of buildings, good to see all is well after Cyclone Gabrielle. TFTC!
lady across the road from cache guessed what we were up to.
she said she didn't know location of cache.
we soon made the find of a good cache container.

With (Mr) Davidson Clan and Gap (of Fap and Gap)… On a boy’s weekend roadtrip south. We’re relocating down the road today. So our base camp shifts to Carterton for the night…
What a cool cache! The nice lady across the road came out to see if we were lost. She knows a thing or two about caching, but not as much as her son-in-law… Thanks wascox and TFTC.

Day 1 Cache 17 of my mad mission to the Wairarapa for the 100-10-7 Challenge. Wet and rainy day today but cachers must carry on. The lovely Ethness has joined me as driver for the day. Great little hide here - like it. TFTC.
What a stunning homestead. Looks in immaculate condition with amazing gates. Thanks for placing a cache here - Talla64 found your sneaky hide quickly while I was looking on the wrong spot.
With Flowerydaze on a wine trip to the Wairarapa. Next on the list was this one which turned into a quick find for me. Lovely old mansion and an interesting history. TFTC wascox
What a wonderful property and great to know some of the history.

Easy find with @peadub. Had a we chat with the Kempton House former owner. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
Great to get another find on such a clear, calm, freezing cold night. New area for me. Tftc
Quick park and grab while exploring Greytown. MrJAG wanted to check out the historic house opposite gz, but decided not too once a dog came to check him out.
Just finished a week of work in Masterton and now have a few days free to collect some caches in the region. Stopped and admired the gate across the road and read the history. Then to another gate across the road. Great camouflage. Thanks for bringing us here as we would have otherwise bypassed it.
#1228. GB Leader & I have come over the hill for a short staycation in the windy Wairarapa. It’s been a pretty windy trip so far and with a bit of a cough and sore throat, I wasn’t keen to venture out. However this afternoon the sun has come out, and the rural B&B we are staying in has caches within walking distance.
This was the first, opposite this old established country house (Elm Grove) which I hadn’t even spotted when we drove past yesterday! So a nice brisk walk and a quick find. The log is pretty full, as has been said, so I inserted a new log, but it’s not waterproof paper.
I had a couple of TB’s with me, just visiting - as I was photographing them a guy wandered past to grab his farm bike so I had to briefly explain my mission.
Tftc wascox and for bringing me here.

Third find. Very clever hide. Log almost full, space for 1 or 2 only. Lovely building, too.
Another worthwhile detour. Found with little blue hen. Catching up the logs from last weekend's excursion to Martinborough. Tftc

After a long period of lockdown and travel restrictions we are now able to travel between regions. I took this opportunity today to come back over the hill for a return visit to boost my find count for May so that I can finally sign off the now archived 250 finds in every month series. This was helped by completing the Masterton Adventure Lab for an easy ten finds (plus the bonus). In that regard I was successful, with only a couple of DNFs on a couple of archived caches worth recording.
I pulled up alongside, noting activity going on over the road. Took a while to locate and I even had my hand on the container at one point, but eventually got the cache to reveal itself. All good here. TFTC

Found today with my girlfriend, what a lovely hide!
Nice bicycle trip from Greytown.
A very playful local came out to greet us as we were searching, see picture

Despite living in the Wairarapa for almost all of my 50 years and working at the south end of Greytown for around 15 years I don't think I have ever been down this road before. These caches were a good reason to change that. The road was wonderfully quiet, unlike the nearby Bidwells Cutting Road. Thanks to accurate coordinates the clever cache was found in seconds. After signing and replacing the log I wandered across the road to investigate some unusual noises from behind the hedge. It turned out to be "Bill", the female pig who looks a little viscious but is actually very friendly. While chatting with "Bill" a vehicle pulled up beside me and it turned out to be one of my work colleagues who, unknown to me, is now living on the grounds in the cottage. TFTC and the great bit of local history.
What an awesome hide. We had to be persistent with this one (although we did get a helpful hint from the kind man over the road). Log sheet was a bit wet. TFTC.
Cache #8014. A very rainy day, and Iris and Raewyn were busy doing craftwork so I took off in the car to Greytown to do some geocaching. Found ten caches in the pouring rain and got rather wet in doing so. This was cache number ten and found very quickly in spite of the sneaky hide. . I am very wet by this stage but got to my target of ten for the afternoon. Thanks for the cache. Rodney.
A quick find on a bike ride around Greytown area.
Thanks for the interesting historical information.

I took my youngest son up to Wellington in the camper van. I dropped him off at his friend's house where he will stay. Meanwhile I get to geocache and be on standby.
After staying at Greytown and spending another day in the Wairarapa, it was time to head to The Hutt area.
I was greeted by the neighborhood pigs.

A serious geo caching day! Not so much about numbers but a dedicated pre planned set of caches covering a fairly large area and many of the caches were puzzle caches we had solved or had qualified for. . We travelled 400km, found about 70 caches and were out on the trail for 15hours, so it was a big serious day.
We left about 6.30am from Palmerston North and travelled thro to Masterton where were picked up out first puzzle cache. And then travelled down the back road towards Martinborough locating the 100 and 250 caches for a month -our main objective!. We stopped at Kokotau reserve for a late morning tea cum lunch but the cache here eluded us even with three searchers and a double look before and again after lunch. We replaced several skindo caches along the route with either new containers or water proof logs as so often they were soaking wet. We side tracked up several side roads for caches and we visited Stonehenge on the way. and then headed into Martinborough to initally look for the cache in the town square which had stumped geodatum earlier. As always PJMacNZ solved the retrieval of this cache and we then headed to the pub for a much earned break and tea with Devonshire scones Yummy! We then continued on our way towards home locating other caches in Martin borough and then on the back route up to Greytown to locate the Cobblestone museum cache which I have searched for on numerous occasions. PJM was able to find the Virtual cache there which was a plus for him. By the time we left Masterton it was starting to darken so we gave away the idea of locating the newer Eketahuna caches. They will wait for another day!.
It was a great day and combined effort by all three of us. Thank you to my partners and the Cos for these caches. Lots of smiley faces and project GC points to boot!!
We headed off to the Wairarapa today on a caching expedition - the terrific trio of haydn.seek, PJMacNZ and geodatum. Primarily we aimed to sign in for all the 100 and 250 per month Challenge series, but, of course, would collect as much else as we could along the way. We checked out about 75 caches and had very few failures. We left home at 6.30 am and returned at 9.30 pm. The weather was good - sunny and warm, if a little chilly in windy spots, and dry underfoot. We were good company and our team worked together efficiently. So, in all, a very successful day.
What a beautiful old home here - so well kept. The cache was nicely hidden. Thanks for bringing us here wascox. Gets a favourite from us.

What a white house! Can only imagine the work required to keep it looking shiny .... would not be fun. Found fairly quickly after spotting a suspicious item and a quick wiggle confirmed it was not what it purported to be.
What a smart and nicely maintained old home. I exhanged greetings with the family pig while observing that they also have a lovely BnB cottage on the property.
Out for the afternoon finding a few caches around the Carterton/Greytown area.

One of 10 caches located on this day, mostly between Greytown and Martinborough. Logged this about a month after the event. Reasonably quick find. #1425. TFTC.
Wonderful homestead, looks very impressive and loved the added gates. Cache well placed too, so we didn't feel too obvious. TFTC
A near instant find with TregearP on the tail end of a loop around Greytown. Certainly a fine old homestead, and nice to see it's been restored.
All in good order, TNLNSL, TFTC.
The eleventh cache of twelve visited by Susan's TB on my birthday.

Up bright and early for another trip to the Wairarapa to collect some more caches. Off to Greytown and Martinborough areas - I've not been to these two towns before even in pre-caching days. Really liked both of them and will have to come back to explore some more.
Nice use of camo on this cache, but it didn't fool me. Cache was a quick find. TFTC

What a gorgeous building. Walked up to area and something moved so cache was found. Thanks for the creative hide
Another day in the Wairarapa, today doing a circuit of the lake. The weather's better here than in Wellington so this was a good call. Lots of easy finds, and a few more smiley's on the map!

Second day of my two-day trek in Southern Wairarapa. Down to White Rock, and then over to Cape Palliser for the night and now on my way home. Another quick find and a nice hide. Thanks for the cache.
A few cars whizzing by here lucky was a quick stop for us and then off we go again. Another nice cache by you. Thanks for the effort u put into your caches
#1520. I enjoyed my day in the Wairarapa last weekend so much I decided to come back for another round of geocaching. This time there was no pressure to find 50 caches so just ambled around the roads enjoying the rural scenery and picking up all the caches as I went. Ended up finding 25 today. I diverted off to pick up a cache final then came back to this one. Nice old mansion. Was glad to read the owners were aware of the cache as it was pretty exposed looking around here. After taking a few photos of the mansion I headed straight over and picked up the cache. Didn't want to embarrass myself spending ages looking. Signed the nicely concealed logbook then returned as found. Another well done cache wascox. Thanks for the time and effort you put into setting these up. Cheers GSEL
