[hint] was in a swamp today! Thank goodness for a slower traffic day as it was a bit dicey (not really a park and grab!). TFTC.

18-Aug-24
Day out with my girls, a walk, bit of caching, then lunch and shopping. This is my 2nd in the kiwi series. Nice little hide. Loving this series.

27-Jul-24
Realised at 4pm today that I had never found a cache on the 27th of July in any of my years caching, so quickly bolted out to go find this one (that was a DNF prior, but had been given a hint a few years ago). Parked a few hundred meters away and took a walk with the dog to the cache site and was an instant find. Signed log and headed back to car and home. Also clears out the Kiwi GeoTrail series for me now. Thanks for the cache.

27-Apr-24
Cap could do with being replaced but otherwise all good in this cool hide. Cars passing probably wondering what Im up to though

07-Apr-24
Cool hidey spot, really enjoyed this whole series. TFTC XbX/trancer96 Smile

Day caching in Wellington and Mana/Paremata area. #12 Puzzles completed back home in Sydney, some with assistance from the CO. TFTC trancer96

#336.Grabbed this one before starting my late shift today. Splendid day for most but way too hot for this Pisces. Good hide. Another Kiwi marked off.TFTC.

05-Dec-23
Had an unsuccessful search for this earlier in the year, and as we were heading to this area this afternoon, decided we should have another look. Found straight away this time. Good to get rid of that bluey. Thanks trancer96

18-Nov-23
Took a bit of time to figure this one out.. ... ..... .......Actually, it took more time to figure out we already figured it out before, lol........... .............Anyway, today, I parked at the main car park and just walked in me gumboots. A no-brainer in todays weather as well as previewing GZ's general area beforehand. The hint sums the location down easily and makes for a quick find.Perhaps extracting the cache was a little worrisome as I wasn't sure if it could come out, and I thought I might break it. But just a real slow wiggle and jiggle freed the little guy.If you're tall, watch your head.Bzzzzt! It's already noted that the lid is a little broke, but the log is remarkably nice and dry.I made sure to keep the broke part facing downward to help keep water out.Cheers.Sleepy was here!

23-Oct-23
Wohoo! Another smile on this kiwi trail. Many thanks for keeping this going. All good here-

09-Sep-23
Straightforward find today after an unsuccessful search pre-prune. All in good condition. TFTC

28-May-23
Yay we found it! After a few tries at this location we came earlier in the day and the sun hit the hiding place at just the right angle to make for a quick find.TFTC

20-Apr-23
After a big day cache collecting around Wellington we got back here about 4PM. Our aim is now to collect as many kiwi puzzles before the sun goes down, basically our last opportunity before heading north tomorrow. Some DNFs but this was not one of them. Thanks to all the COs for adopting and maintaining their part of this series.

20-Apr-23
Despite the rain I made it to the GZ! Thanks for being part of the series!

20-Apr-23
Another day in the land of the long white cloud. TeamARF, JACSTeam and I headed south to Wellington. Lots of rainy caching but still some awesome caches and spectacular locations. Thanks to all COs!!

20-Apr-23
Day 7: We ( TeamARF, Gcoven and myself) have travelled over from Brisbane, Australia to have a visit since we were not able to make it to the Mega. We have spent some considerable time solving puzzles and making plans in preparation. We have a gigantic list of old, interesting, highly favourited, challenges and a few Geo-arts to try and collect over the next 10 days. There is a good chance we got lazy with our logging, or space saving depending on the log size and do some joint variation of our initials - TGJ, GJT or JGT.

Today the plan is to work on collecting things of our list - some of the very old caches in and around Wellington and trying to complete Kiwi Geo-art. We are also picking up a few challenges (will check qualifying once home).

Please excuse the generic log, just have extremely little data to try and survive on it for the 10 days. However, you can be assured that if we have found your cache it was special to us for some reason or in a special location - so thank you for contributing to our holiday.

I will edit logs when back in Brisbane to add more details to those that need more details and of course I will be adding favourite points as I go along.

OMG finally found it!

Gave the bush a major pruning this evening - it was just too hard to see the cache in there. I might have over done it a bit and it's now pretty much in plain sight. Most people don't like this location (I have no problem with it myself) so I'd rather people had an easy find than a DNF. It's part of a trail after all and the idea is to find them all not to revisit some several times.

12-Mar-23
Neither of the two scenarios suggested by the last DNF are even remotely likely. It's just very well hidden, off the ground and wedged into a hidey hole. But, as I noted in my maintenance log I had trouble re-finding it myself. To make things easier I will have to take some secateurs and make a clearer path to the cache. It's not supposed to be hard to find and nor should it be because of the awkward location. I might even put a marker of some kind on the post to help identify it.

12-Mar-23
One of the last ones left (on a area of toad that isn't particularly safe) so had left until a better opportunity. Today whilst at the Guardians event in my high vis vest tried this one.. Nothing doing could not find a cache here. Searched everywhere and the hint objects.. Pretty sure this one has been washed away / muggled or other...

11-Feb-23
Nope

02-Feb-23
Seems like this was worth a check and while, as suspected, it wasn't missing, it's a bit tricky to find because the post is now "protected" by a bush. Although I kind of cleared a route to the cache it really needs a good prune. I replaced the log while I was there because why not. The lid has got a crack in it but because the cache is not at ground level it doesn't have a water ingress problem.

31-Jan-23
Had a search in several likely locations, but to no avail. Cheers.

31-Dec-22
We’ll be back but a bit over grown

31-Dec-22
No luck with this one today!

I'm on a geocaching roadie from Whangarei to Dunedin. I've had lots of puzzles solved for such a long time so geoarts were the main target of the trip.
Now it's time to start writing the massive backlog of logs which is taking a while.

In Palmy area I wanted the shield series and the 20/20 geoart. Then Wairarapa was stickman (which we ran out of time for), the new M geoart and some archived skindo challenges. Wellington was finishing off the kiwi geoart. Nelson I had a few challenges I wanted before heading to Christchurch. It was family time there and perhaps the smile series but time ran out again. Off to Dunedin for the airplane geoart. Then it was time to fly home to say goodbye to my son heading to Denmark.

My friend Supernanny came along on the trip but today she spent with family. I teamed up with 0B80B8 - a fellow team G0LD mate from Whangarei.

This puzzle series I started years ago. Some I solved in September 2015. I collected some at the Wellington Mega in 2018 but time was against me as well as roadworks on Gray's Rd. I had to resolve some as the puzzles as hides had changed since I started solving them. Glad to be able to get all but one to complete my kiwi. Took a tad longer to locate this one but pleased to have another smile. I really appreciate the effort to keep this Geoart going, TFTC Smile

27-Jun-22
Was down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but the following days were quite nice, so managed to get in a little caching.

The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and I had made a point of solving them all in the last month, so they were the prime target today. As luck would have it, fellow Team G0LD member Lis was driving through Porirua today, on her way to the South Island and she still had a few Kiwis left to find, so we teamed up for a few hours, to see if we could knock the series off.

Another sneaky park close to GZ, but this one did take a minute to locate, as it was in a different position to what I was expecting. TFTC

21-May-22
I didn’t love this cache location, due to its position across a busy road and up a relatively steep bank, felt a bit unsafe especially since there are now safer spots across the road on the extended Te Ara Piko. I found the cache after a while searching with encouragement from . A nice hide - a bit more tricky than many of the others on the trail. Cache lid is cracked and partly missing but log was still dry inside. KTG

21-May-22
#211 had to send KTG on this excursion while I acted as cheer leader from across the road thanks to pulling muscles in the lower back at work this week. Road was quite busy for a Saturday morning. Cache lid is a wee bit broken. But log was well placed and dry. TFTC

Out for another bike ride this afternoon, and another puzzle solved in this series, so stopped to check out the GZ today, nice easy find find here, TFTC

13-Jan-22
Solved the puzzle a while ago, it’s taking me a while to get around these kiwi caches. Luckily I had chels_j with me, as the terrain is pretty steep and I wouldn’t have been able to get to it. Well, maybe I could have got to it, but not been able to get back! The road wasn’t too busy so that part was OK.

09-Oct-21
Last one for the day! Another lovely day spent on the inlet solving a few caches - collecting a few caches. this one was abit of a scramble at GZ and a little slippery - but safely navigated. i think i was lucky to find it so quickly I reckon this could be a bit hard to find for some. TFTC. Another lovely day out and about caching.

12-Sep-21
Found out with TharntheHalken on a KiwiGT blitz. Going around in reverse order. This one took a bit of clever spotting! All good, Tftc!

12-Sep-21
Found with matagouri. Tftc.

12-Jun-21
Have spent last week solving these puzzles with just 6 unsolved. Spending the weekend in Whitby so decided to start collecting as many as I can today. Ended up walking round the whole loop. Took several hours. Took awhile to spot this one but pleased I didn’t give up. Log all fine. Thanks for the smiley.

05-Jun-21
So nice to turn this into a yellow. Weather was better today so enabled a better look. In a completely different direction to what we looked in before. Lol.

08-Nov-20
Stopped by to see how this is doing. Short version is: it's fine. Not sure why the previous cacher assumed it was missing.

Access to the cache has changed somewhat in recent times. A new pathway under construction means it is no longer necessary (or possible) to walk along the shoreline. If crews are working you will NOT be able to access this cache but access on the partly finished path should be possible in weekends and evenings.

Getting from the path to the cache was harder than I remember and seems to be is likely to be a bit dangerous in traffic. The cache is not right by the side of the road so get yourself up the bank as quickly as possible after crossing the road.

05-Sep-20
Unfortunately seems to have gone missing.

05-Sep-20
Had a big hunt but couldnt locate it. Seems to be missing

16-Aug-20
Ticked off another half dozen of these today! This one took a bit of spotting but was there, just as the hint described. TFTC.

I have lost my notebook! Sad When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a notebook or, as in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks. I mean, I can see the final on the map, and sometimes that sparks a memory, but mostly - no.
Many thanks for a great geoart. I have been saving this for when I can do the whole lot in one day.

04-Jan-20
Running around Pahatahanui Inlet today to capture a family of Kiwis roaming around here. Captured Kiwi #52 on our way past. Cheers
Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving abilities.

Day 23 - Saturday, 4 January 2020. Wellington. It the Kiwi series at Paramata today thats been on The Seagnoids 'must do' list for some time. Then The Seagnoid ships out. Sadly our 3 week holiday to Taranaki is over today.
Seen heaps, done heaps. Loved it. The Kiwi series is our finale. Cheers

22-Nov-19
A good hide this one. Not where I expected it to be. Tftc.

22-Nov-19
MightyMicra and I have been busy solving many of the Kiwi Geo Trail puzzles and now we are out for an afternoon to see how many of the caches we can find. Another clever hiding spot which took a while to find. TFTC.

01-Jul-19
A little tricky to grab this one with all of the traffic. Eventually decided to go for it anyway and then had to deal with the hide. Unexpected, took me a while, but I got it in the end. Tftc!

30-Jun-19
Today is the 14th day of our journey to the south island. I had planned to complete the Kiwi Geotrail before we head to Wellington to take the ferry to the south island. Having arrived near the Lake yesterday I was able to pick up seven of the series on our way to the campsite after visiting Rivendell and eating dinner in the Upper Hut area. We spent the night at the edge of the lake and after eating breakfast I started to collect the Kiwi Caches at around 9:30am.
I mannaged to find 55 caches today, 54 of which to complete the Kiwi. It took me a total of 10 1/2 hours to complete the trail at 8:00pm in a rather slow pace.
This was # 8 of 55 caches today.
This puzzle was solved a few weeks ago in preparation of our trip. We parked about 200 m past GZ at the car park and walked back along the rocky shore at low tide. Once at GZ it was a quick and easy find and not too bad crossing the road despite the high amount of traffic. Tftc.

# 1560 Team GST has assembled again (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), for another caching mission. Mission for today was to finally finish the Porirua Kiwi, something I had solved about 5 years ago and have slowly worked towards finishing. Today would bring an end to that work. All up I found 28 caches today, and only 1 DNF, so unfortunately the kiwi is still unfinished but a sight closer than it was. We did the loop clockwise, and I feared for my life with some of the parking places and road crossings but all and all, it is well achievable to visit all 61 kiwis in the space of 7 or so hours. Thanks to the creators and maintainers of this series, it is a fantastic piece of geoart that still brings people to the region!

Took the CO's advice and approached along the coast at lowish tide. That was quite relaxing, and a set of stairs was even provided for our use to get up to the road. After an initial look around all the likely items, a second pass was required... its funny when bias's take you firstly to the bottom of this type of hint item,... and then to the top.... completely missing the stretch in the middle. This method is not suitable for this hide! Cache all good inside. Cheers trancer96 for maintaining this little piece of the kiwi.

08-Jun-19
Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 7-8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).

I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.

#16 of 70 today. We parked further along the road, as advised, and walked back along the waterfront at low tide. The cache took longer to find than it should have and thankfully Gr33nslime was with me as I completely missed it on my first 2 looks at the hide location.

20-May-19
Found in the first place I looked but unfortunately I didn't check it thoroughly enough. So after checking some other places returned and found it well wedged in but the lid still able to be removed. It may well be that thats the way its supposed to be. TFTC # 13,736

19-Apr-19
We were staying in Upper Hutt for the week over Easter break and hoped today was finally the day we finished off the Kiwi Geo Trail. Mum parked down the road and I walked back for this one. What a mission I turned it into and by the looks of the hints either side of GZ I am not the only one. After checking all the hints mulitple times I had started giving up when I spotted something from the right angle. Tricky wee hide here. Thanks to both the original owner and now the adoptive owner for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy. Smile

25-Jan-19
I actually went to check out this cache yesterday before the adoption to make sure I remembered where it was and remind myself of its access. Various logs seem to note the "dangerous" location but it's not that at all if you go when the tide is out and keep off the road except when you need to cross it.

21-Jan-19
Found after a bit of a climb and a walk in a location I'd have preferred not to be walking in. Cache in good condition.

21-Jan-19
Find # 204. Glad I've got this one now, as I never want to come back here again. I didn't enjoy the approach whatsoever and found it very dangerous. Found with Aros71. Thank you for maintaining, CherrysRule, and thanks for being available for my PAF! TFTC.

12-Jan-19
I had a lot of fun, and a small amount of frustration, solving this series. I solved most of them about 5 or 6 months ago but don't often get down to Porirua these days in spite of formerly living in Whitby a long while back.

I had thought that I might get a chance to try to search for some around the time of the WENZ Mega, but it just never happened. And then some of the caches got archived! So before any more could disappear before I found them I decided that a planned visit to Welly CBD to meet some friends was the perfect opportunity to grab some. Having planned which few I would try for, time allowing, I even made notes of the co-ords for the archived ones, which was a good thing as I even found one of them!

So today I set off early to allow myself as much time as possible to get these. Parking was a bit hit and miss, with some of the locations being a few hundred metres away from a safe parking spot but no big problem thanks to the glorious weather I enjoyed throughout the morning.

This one was my fifth find for the day and a relatively easy one to attain, once you accepted that there were more than one Hint items around GZ and you just had to systematically look at each in turn. But it wasn't too long before I had found the cache and signed the logsheet before replacing it all as found and heading off to the next one.

To the original CO for placing this series, and for the current CO for the maintenance,
thanks for the cache.

30-Nov-18
Searched all over. GPS put me smack bang on top of it, but nothing found. A dangerous place to put a cache.

21-Oct-18
Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

21-Oct-18
TFTC. Kiwi GeoTrail was oe of the targets for three keen MEGA attendees. KotukuSI and warfi were great companions and puzzle solvers in prep for this adventure.
We manged to complete the caches in a day (minus 2) and were truely warn out after our activities.
thanks to the original placer and the cachers who have taken over maintainence of the trail.

21-Oct-18
WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...

Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... Onto the Kiwi Geo Trail. We enjoyed solving each of the puzzles in this series. Each one provided just the right amount of challenge. What a great variety of authentic kiwiana puzzles...

We managed to find most of the Kiwis in their hides. Some were in a lot better condition than others, and we can imagine how challenging it might be to maintain some of them. We found the speed and flow of traffic, and tight parking made things difficult at times. We learnt to be resourceful and resilient as the day drew on. In all, thanks to each of the COs for your input into this series... Apologies for the cut and paste logs. TFTP and TFTC.

21-Oct-18
Headed to the Nation's capital for a Mad Mission with Team_Gaters to visit the MEGA and have a blast hooning around in our rental car. I grabbed TG at 5.30 am to get to the airport and we picked up the car from the airport at 8am. We figured we needed to be back at the depot by 4.30ish. We had a blast we didn't get crazy amounts of caches but we did get heaps of different types and scored the oldest one for TG. We ended up only driving 150km for the day. The weather was good. Caches were fun and bumped into a few cachers on the road.
Another one off the art work.

Thanks for the cache Cherrys Rule.
#5684

Cache number 36 of a total of 52 for today!

21-Oct-18
Talking with TheWanglers, an age ago it seems; that if WENZ made Mega we should look at taking a daytrip up from Christchurch to visit.....It did; and as it worked out - we could. So here we are. Early morning flight in, and a late afternoon flight out. A day trip full of fun, caches, dodgy parking...and more fun.
Another quick find and sign. Cheers.

21-Oct-18
Another one down. And off to the next one. Tftc

21-Oct-18
Solved this series a while ago, many of the puzzles were reasonably straightforward but a few required a bit more work to get the right answer. We came down this weekend to attend the MEGA nearby so planned to spend a few hours on the Sunday in this area to pickup this series. That proved a little more challenging than first thought as we had plenty of other distractions in Upper Hutt and there is a lot more walking involved to grab some of these caches than we had anticipated. We ended up getting around half of them on the Northern side of the harbour (some of which proved to be difficult to find places to park on the side of a busy road) before we had to get back to the airport. Thanks for this interesting series.

There was very little space to park along this stretch of road so stopped at a small beach area down the road and walked back to these 3 caches. Road was quite busy but made my way along the small side strip without problem to all of them.

21-Oct-18
Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks

21-Oct-18
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers

12th of the kiwi geoart puzzle day with gely57. New Zealand have had some great leaders over history. The hint was really specific and we also managed to once again find a good place to park. TFTC.

18-Oct-18
Worked out the co-ords with Teahan Family and as we are both over for the MEGA event we tried to complete the series today. Some caches were found in very good condition (being looked after by SAROC) and some that are in need of attention with wet logs and rusty containers. Really enjoyed the series, thanks CO.

03-Oct-18
I am on a solo geocaching trip. I flew in from Christchurch yesterday. My focus today was my visit to the Dutch Embassy yo renew my passport. Once that was done it was back to geocaching. Concentrating on the Geo art and anything else that grabbed my attention.
A simple but clever hide.

Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

First of the caches I attempted on this part of the Geotrail.
A bit puzzled as cache was found a few days ago, but I could find no sign of it and there only seemed to be one place it could be.

its fantastic caching weather!
hubby offered to be my driver, I was thankful as it made him parking while I walked back to get the caches, busy road and are looking forward to doing the rest. thanks for the placement.

This was my cache for today. I drove out here after work just to have a look for this one and then go home. I'm glad I ride a motorbike because I was able to park very near the cache. That would not be the case with a car!

The cache is nice and dry but the paper is falling apart.

Thank you

Last weekend I had a road trip with CNAH. Feilding to Plimmerton to Ohariu Valley to Makara to Taita/Upper Hutt and back to Plimmerton. We drove past several of these caches over the weekend but the traffic was very heavy and there was no great places to stop. However, determined to not go home without them we returned on the Sunday morning and parked up and decided to walk around the roadside to get them. Having lived my childhood in this area it was unreal to experience the heavy traffic around here. However, this was quickly found and logged and all good. TFTC

#4061. I needed at least 2 caches today as I am planning to reach 4+ caches per day by middle of Nov (just 14 more days still to go on this personal goal). Had solved another batch of kiwi geotrails a few days ago so headed out to Greys Rd to pick up some more finals. Managed to park next to the cache and scramble up the damp bank without getting too muddy. Spotted the cache immediately with the head torch. Signed the log and replaced as found. Nicely hidden. Didn't notice any other signatures on the logbook from this year. Thanks for the cache gasbottle.

Today is the day to head back down South to catch the ferry back to the Mainland, but first there are some formalities to take care of at the end of this recent course. With all that taken care of by 10 this morning, and having a G P S bursting with potential stop-offs down the line I set out with all sorts of different plots and plans. As it was I grabbed a handful of traditionals and a smattering of kiwi art puzzles in Porirua harbor (which was rather brown today) I probably ended up driving past numerous other unsolved caches there but that's for another day, or not.
A pleasant few caches and arrived at the ferry in plenty of time for a sleep in the car as the afternoon sun belied the coolness of the Southerly blow.

I noticed that the remaining caches in the Kiwi geotrail that I was yet to find were all recently enabled so made it a mission today to pick them up to complete the Kiwi. I parked up nearby to walk to these ones. Clambered up the bank and quickly spotted the cache after feeling around in a standard location. TFTC

Walked along the shore as the tide was retreating to get here since the highway is no place for pedestians. Convenient steps at exactly the right place to get up to the road and cross it. Wasn't expecting the kind of hide found here and makes a nice change.

Log dry but about to disintegrate.

There's little that passes for parking along this road, so I resorted to HiViz vest and walking the shoulder - not fun

This cache took me a little while to find. The hide is crafty and not what I expected so I missed it at the first pass, and only spotted it as I returned from searching other objects nearby.

Couldn't find nearby parking, so we had to park back up the road and hike along the shoreline. We didn't feel comfortable walking along the shoulder of the road. Searched for a little bit before finding the cache. By the way, we feel the terrain rating is a bit low. TFTC. Mahalo and Aloha from Hawaii.
