Thanks for the maintenance on this cache and the updated location. Lovely sunny, still, evening to turn this frown upside down!

11-Oct-24
Wellington bound with time for some caching. I decided to finally complete this geoart ten years after finding the first one.Two blue faces turned to happy ones.Yay. My very last Kiwi Geotrail find. This was the first geoart I had ever encountered. Brilliantly done and thank you to the various COs that have kept the series alive. Scrambled up the bank. Didnt spot the hide immediately. Nice to see a fresh new replacement container and log.TFTC

20-Sep-24
Went to GZ, no sign of original cache, so replaced with new one. All good to go again.

15-Aug-24
Possibly approached this wrong as it involved a lot of bush-whacking, but still couldn't find it. 3rd DNF so will ask for owner maintenance

15-Aug-24
3x DNF - missing?

15-Aug-24
Obviously this cache is in need of attention, which I should (weather permitting) be able to do this coming Sunday 18th Oct.Disabling til then.

03-Mar-24
Catching up on DNFs. Looked in all likely spots that match the hint with no luck. But my window was short between muggle action.

22-Feb-24
Out and about on another crisp Wellington morning. No luck today but will try again with supple geoteen!

22-Oct-23
Many thanks RogerW1nz for adopting this cache and keeping things going! We came out to tackle this yesterday, going all over the place only to discover, later at home that night, that I can make my waypoints show up on my map thanks to that editing pencil feature (yes of course you can! You all say - slow on the pick up here but gratefully relieved!) Back out today, walking around Paremata. I should have noticed the terrain rating on thus one! Got there in the end

15-Aug-23
The puzzle was a quick matching up.

Took a little while finding the cache and realized that another comment said it's near another tree.

Whilst signing, 2 muggles decided to play fetch with their dog right below GZ. So, I sat on a horizontal branch to wait for them to leave.
5 mons later, rain decided to sprinkle over us, causing the muggles to leave.
I jumped out from the trees and walked in the rain back to the car.
Of course, the rain stops just as I get to the car.
Cheers.

Sleepy was here!

12-Mar-23
I started solving and finding these caches some years ago but for some unknown reason (or maybe it’s ‘I can’t remember the reason’) I stopped finding them. Anyway, today I was in a new area of the inlet and after helping with the CITO with the Seagnoid and we decided it was time to find caches along the track.

Kia ora rawa atu for the cache RogerW1nz.

21-Jan-23
Another puzzle solved in this series means another I can find. Here from Taranaki for a few days and the weather is beaut!
Found in the second spot I looked. Was hard to chose a time to get up there with all the walkers around. Dropped TB. TFTC

05-Nov-22
Spent a few hours at various locations around the inlet today mainly trying to knock off a few more Kiwi GeoTrail caches.
Our 5th successful cache of the day and after our failure at Wha Tekau ma Iwa, we noticed that this one had been successfully logged the previous day. This made us rather determined to knock this one off however after quite an exhausting search we were about to declare the weather the winner and give up for another day. Fortunately though just as all was about lost I spotted the cache nested in the tree right next to the one we had centred our search around!
All in good order, TFTC

04-Nov-22
Great walking track and with the added bonus of finding a cache!

17-Jul-22
Headed for the most likely spot, found the cache without much difficulty but then had to wait out several groups of passing muggles before returning to the track. TFTC

27-Jun-22
Was down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but the following days were quite nice, so managed to get in a little caching.

The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and I had made a point of solving them all in the last month, so they were the prime target today. As luck would have it, fellow Team G0LD member Lis was driving through Porirua today, on her way to the South Island and she still had a few Kiwis left to find, so we teamed up for a few hours, to see if we could knock the series off.

Cache here was spotted quite quickly, so signed log and replaced and then on to the next one. TFTC

29-May-22
Took the fact that we had a few caches along here to find to go for a lovely walk this morning with . This one took a wee bit of searching, but once we approached for the right angle, my eyes happened to fall on a white lid nested just as the hint said. TFTC. KTG

29-May-22
Had the little niece with us so had to take turns searching while the other threw stones into the water with the niece. KTG found this one much to my delight and happiness. TFTC

19-Feb-22
Certainly a great trail today, had to dodge a couple of muggles, but they were no problem today, nice find here, TFTC

24-Oct-21
Bit overcast and drizzly on the inlet today - you think that would help reduce muggles! still quite a few but had good muggle free searching time to find this one. Still gorgeous out here today - moody. TFTC.

05-Oct-21
Phew, found by my tenacious daughter this after looking in the wrong hint object for ages. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

12-Sep-21

10-Oct-20
Introduced my 5 year olds school friend to caching, they enjoyed the walk - this was our third of four found along the walkway. I knew exactly where this would be but struggled to get to it... hubby and the kids were no use so I found a detour up that meant I wouldn't get muddy and soon had it in hand. SL TFTC

28-Sep-20
Kiwi GeoTrail Wha Tekau ma Wha (44) (Porirua) was transferred from WhitbyTui to user RogerW1nz

Nice quick find here.
Signed the red log with a red pen as it was all I had on me so quite difficult to see.
TFTC

30-May-20
After a couple of fails it was good to find another one and put a bit more kiwi in place. One of the Yeomanclan microcachers was the first to this one. Busy on the trail today.

30-May-20
Out with Andy and Kelly and kids, nice autumn walk

04-Jan-20
I have lost my notebook! Sad When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a notebook or, as in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks. I mean, I can see the final on the map, and sometimes that sparks a memory, but mostly - no.
Many thanks for a great geoart. I have been saving this for when I can do the whole lot in one day.

04-Jan-20
Running around Pahatahanui Inlet today to capture a family of Kiwis roaming around here. Visited Kiwi #44 while in the area. Cheers
Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving abilities.

Day 23 - Saturday, 4 January 2020. Wellington. It the Kiwi series at Paramata today thats been on The Seagnoids 'must do' list for some time. Then The Seagnoid ships out. Sadly our 3 week holiday to Taranaki is over today.
Seen heaps, done heaps. Loved it. The Kiwi series is our finale. Cheers

23-Nov-19
Another great afternoon with MightyMicra pitting his wits and new Garmin against my old cell phone, still about 60/40 in my favour. Very high muggle area, had to be careful. TFTC.

23-Nov-19
Another great day out with RedEcho finding caches round this side of the inlet. Thanks for placing and maintaining these caches.

07-Aug-19
I solved all of the Kiwi GeoTrail puzzles earlier in the year, but haven't had the chance to head out this way to find them yet. (If I recall correctly this was one of the harder puzzles to solve - not all the information was easy to come by.) Today I put a couple or three hours aside to grab a few of them, and managed 15 (plus some that weren't part of the series.

The run of easy caches continues - this would have been a D1 based on its hide

Thanks for the cache and series.

30-Jun-19
Today is the 14th day of our journey to the south island. I had planned to complete the Kiwi Geotrail before we head to Wellington to take the ferry to the south island. Having arrived near the Lake yesterday I was able to pick up seven of the series on our way to the campsite after visiting Rivendell and eating dinner in the Upper Hut area. We spent the night at the edge of the lake and after eating breakfast I started to collect the Kiwi Caches at around 9:30am.
I mannaged to find 55 caches today, 54 of which to complete the Kiwi. It took me a total of 10 1/2 hours to complete the trail at 8:00pm in a rather slow pace.
This was # 20 of 55 caches today.
This was one of the first puzzles I solved a few weeks ago.
We parked the car and entered the walkway midway walking to one side and then the other picking up 6 of the Kiwi caches along the way. This one was a quick find after a lot of muggle walked past and I made my way to the correct alltitude. Very bussy walkway today as it is a nice and sunny day. Tftc.

08-Jun-19
I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.

In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.

This one was a quick find at GZ. All was fine with this container and the logsheet, so it was signed quickly and replaced exactly as found before we headed onto the next .

Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.

08-Jun-19
Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 7-8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).

I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.

#13 of 70 today. Another quick find although at a slightly different altitude to what as expected.

20-May-19
The GPS lead me to an obvious spot but there was a very muddy route there so I went a round about way which lead me to an apple tree and a kayak hidden away but no cache. so I retreated and then the GPS suggested maybe it was a bit further back along the track after all. Still needed to negotiate the muddy ditch but found the cache safely tucked away this time. TFTC # 13,734

19-Apr-19
We were staying in Upper Hutt for the week over Easter break and hoped today was finally the day we finished off the Kiwi Geo Trail. Our first go was in Oct 2013 and we did roughly 1/3, we did some more in Oct 2016 and finally wanted to finish it today. Mum had fallen over on the path earlier but being tough as old boots she insisted we carried on and yet she was the one that went up to retrieve this one and passed the log down to me to sign. Thanks to both the original owner and now the adoptive owner for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy. Smile

10-Feb-19
During a recent visit, discovered this was missing. Have replaced with a more sturdy container, and updated the D/T ratings to match reality.

10-Feb-19
Found and signed what an awesome day around the inlet it was! TFTC

22-Dec-18
Took a nice walk this afternoon with my sisters to try get them out of the house. This one was a bit more of a demanding clamber, so I waited til the coast was clear before climbing up. Found where I thought it would be! Tftc.

Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers

21-Oct-18
Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

21-Oct-18
TFTC. Kiwi GeoTrail was oe of the targets for three keen MEGA attendees. KotukuSI and warfi were great companions and puzzle solvers in prep for this adventure.
We manged to complete the caches in a day (minus 2) and were truely warn out after our activities.
thanks to the original placer and the cachers who have taken over maintainence of the trail.

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...

Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... Onto the Kiwi Geo Trail. We enjoyed solving each of the puzzles in this series. Each one provided just the right amount of challenge. What a great variety of authentic kiwiana puzzles...

We managed to find most of the Kiwis in their hides. Some were in a lot better condition than others, and we can imagine how challenging it might be to maintain some of them. We found the speed and flow of traffic, and tight parking made things difficult at times. We learnt to be resourceful and resilient as the day drew on. In all, thanks to each of the COs for your input into this series... Apologies for the cut and paste logs. TFTP and TFTC.

21-Oct-18
Lots of activity here on a Sunday, but managed to grab it between muggles. Tftc

21-Oct-18
Solved this series a while ago, many of the puzzles were reasonably straightforward but a few required a bit more work to get the right answer. We came down this weekend to attend the MEGA nearby so planned to spend a few hours on the Sunday in this area to pickup this series. That proved a little more challenging than first thought as we had plenty of other distractions in Upper Hutt and there is a lot more walking involved to grab some of these caches than we had anticipated. We ended up getting around half of them on the Northern side of the harbour (some of which proved to be difficult to find places to park on the side of a busy road) before we had to get back to the airport. Thanks for this interesting series.

We parked at a small beach area we walked the nice track along this area to all 5 caches - got a lot more exercise than I bargained for along this section of the series. All good at this cache.

21-Oct-18
Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks

19-Oct-18
Couldnt do this to start with due to muggles so got on the way back. Nanzie and I solved all of the trail in preparation for the Mega trip, now its time to see how many we can find. Thanks for the trail

A quick easy find. Tftc

18-Oct-18
I've seen most of these buildings in my pre-caching days. I'm sure now most of them would have caches nearby. Another easy find on this lovely walk with my friends pooch. Thanks for another smile on my caching map Smile

18-Oct-18
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Today we were targeting the Kiwi GeoTrail and trying to get fifty in a day which we just managed. This happened to include a lo of driving back and forth around the inlet and getting other side caches. but we managed a few walks in between for some of the other caches. Thanks to everyone who is maintaining these caches and keeping them going.

18-Oct-18
16th of the kiwi geoart puzzle day with gely57. Been to nearly all these buildings! These was a few of these kinds of hints and sometimes we found them quickly and other times not so quick. TFTC.

18-Oct-18
Worked out the co-ords with Teahan Family and as we are both over for the MEGA event we tried to complete the series today. Some caches were found in very good condition (being looked after by SAROC) and some that are in need of attention with wet logs and rusty containers. Really enjoyed the series, thanks CO.

03-Oct-18
I am on a solo geocaching trip. I flew in from Christchurch yesterday. My focus today was my visit to the Dutch Embassy yo renew my passport. Once that was done it was back to geocaching. Concentrating on the Geo art and anything else that grabbed my attention.

Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

25-Mar-18
This afternoon Gr33nslime, DangerSAM and I went out for another mission to travel the solar system. We blasted back over the hill to the Kiwi GeoTrail series over in the Porirua Harbour area. And this time we had a little more knowledge of where to go and what we were looking for exactly. Again we decided to knock off a bunch of caches clustered around an easy to access area. At first this involved a couple of park and grabs as Gr33nslime navigated us through some windy streets. These were a big change from yesterday, so nice and discrete, giving plenty of time to have a decent poke around for the cache. No muggles about so that was very much appreciated. Do not know why as today the weather was stunning, hardly a cloud in the sky. Well I must have spoken too soon as when we came to the main chuck of caches we intended to do, the fine day seemed to have drawn out all the family walkers and those little dog shaped things that seem intent to poo right where I put DangerSAM DangerPram wheels, all well. We ended up having a great walk around the coast on a very smooth track admiring the still bay and the clear view we had out across the inlet. I never would have come down here if it wasn’t for these caches so I thank the CO for that. After walking past some boat houses, we stopped for ice cream (mandatory for the little one) and set off home. Even then the day was not so quickly over as we managed to grab a few of the series on the way home, with Gr33nslime being a master of the dash, dig and retrieve method, perfect for those busy places. In all a very rewarding day today with only one cache we could not locate, but we will be back.

24-Mar-18
# 1043 The Planetary Challenge encouraged me to revisit this series of caches that I had solved about four years ago and hadn't yet got around to collecting, as I had left the area and was now back. I was happy that in four years only four had to be resolved, so that is a great effort for a big series like this!

With DangerSAM in the DangerPRAM and Jimmy NZ in tow, we were heading for a walk along the lovely inlet on a mild sunday afternoon to pick up a few of the kiwi geotrail.. What a lovely track this is and how very popular on a sunday afternoon which makes it tricky to time to extraction of a cache. I took the hit on this one and ended up stranded hiding behind some shrubs waiting for many people to pass by until JimmyNZ gave me the nod to come out of hiding. Cache is in good condition!

8/61 of the Kiwi GeoTrail! Thanks to all CO and cachers who have contributed to this geo art and kept it going.

21-Mar-18
I was in the area yesterday on my home from work, but I only had time to find one. I came back today with a plan to find two or three more.

I found the right path and located the correct spot. The cache was on the ground, not where the hint had me looking.

I was torn between placing it in accordance with the hint, even though I didn't know where it had originally located, and putting it back where I found it. I chose to put it back where I found it!

The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.

Thank you

Cherrys Rule

19-Apr-17
We had a reasonable look for this cache before heading on for others. Our planned relook on return was quickly aborted because of others on the track. One group were placing painted stones.. we did find 2 of those but left them where they were.

07-Apr-17
Today is the day to head back down South to catch the ferry back to the Mainland, but first there are some formalities to take care of at the end of this recent course. With all that taken care of by 10 this morning, and having a G P S bursting with potential stop-offs down the line I set out with all sorts of different plots and plans. As it was I grabbed a handful of traditionals and a smattering of kiwi art puzzles in Porirua harbor (which was rather brown today) I probably ended up driving past numerous other unsolved caches there but that's for another day, or not.
A pleasant few caches and arrived at the ferry in plenty of time for a sleep in the car as the afternoon sun belied the coolness of the Southerly blow.
T F T Cs from all the COs.

Cache is well out of sight and didn't need to be fully covered to hide it and luckily it wasn't or else that would have been a difficult find. Returned as found so next cacher has the same level of difficulty.

a quick and easy find today. I first looked for this at least a year ago and couldnt find it for looking! today laid my hands on it straight away. TFTC

23-Jun-16
#2398. I solved a cluster of these kiwi geotrail puzzles on the weekend so I had some available for my next burst of night-caching. Needed three caches tonight so headed north to Porirua and onto the trail again. A pleasant stroll in the dark to the GZ with my headlamp. No muggles in sight after a day of rain. The clamber to the cache was a bit greasy but got there without mishap. Felt the cache in second place checked. Signed the dry logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks for the puzzle (which I managed without using Google) and thanks for the hide. Cheers GSEL

08-Jun-16
A pleasant morning - ideal to add some more smilies to the Porirua Kiwi! TFTC

28-Mar-16
Solved awhile ago, quick find by little bear at GZ. TFTC

05-Jan-16
Couldn't get to this one on my last visit - too many muggles around. No problem today however, log signed, cache returned. Thanks for keeping this series going, tftc.

19-Dec-15
Fortunately the muggle count was less than at the previous cache I attempted, and eventually I had the place to myself.
Wasn't sure where to look as GPS was pointing to somewhere I considered to be higher than T 1.5 but as it fitted the hint it was worth a try. Found a somewhat indirect route I estimate at T2 and sure enough there was the cache.
TFTC.
