Quick grab on our beach dog walk, didn't sign log as I realised too late I did bring a pen..
On our 20 day hiking experience on the South Island we were returning to Christchurch to leave. Needed a break from the driving so took a walk along here. Thanks for the cache hill55. Greetings from Australia
Find #7097
Found on March 15, 2023
We are from Abilene, Texas, USA and have come to New Zealand to visit with a friend. We plan on going after different Cache Types while here. We will also find geocaches while going sight seeing.
Thank you, hill55 for placing this cache for all to find. We sign log sheets either as Love Cachers or LCers.
Driving over 50 miles to have...
Rusty barbed wire ripping through your clothes...
Curious rattlesnakes that come out of nowhere...
Itchy mosquito bites on every inch of your body...
A 40 mph wind gust blowing sand into your ears, nose and mouth...
Cactus needles getting stuck deep in your hands, arms and legs...
Thorny Mesquite trees scratching you up from head to toe...
Some or all of these things on a hike through 101° heat...
To sign your name or trade a toy...
SOUND LIKE FUN TO YOU?
It does to us, we're geocachers in West Texas! - {Taken from a Greater Abilene Association geocoin.}

Found on our way from Moreaki to Christchurch, our last week of month holidays in NZ. TFTC
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a coolish winters day caching in and around Oamaru during our Queens Birthday trip south.
We had DNFed this cache 2 years ago, and were keen to change the blue face into a smile. Quick find today - thanks for replacing.

#21319. Cache was AWOL when we visited in early 2020. Quick find today in the new location. TFTC.
A nice beach with huge hunks of driftwood and seaweed. We picked up a conglomerate rock which we had to take home with us to add to our rock collection. An easy find. Then we drove up to the offshore fishing club rooms and parking area looking for a place for lunch but there were no toilets so we continued on to Campbells Bay. Of course, there was a photo opportunity first of the sea and the birds.
One of several caches I located today, mostly in the Kakanui/Oamaru area before continuing in the direction of Christchurch. Not sure that I’ve ever visited Kakanui before. Good to spend a little while here and pick up a few caches. Nice beach at this point. The cache was a quick find. #4970. TFTC.
Found on our adventure today. Very well hidden and safe. Thanks for the cache hill55.
Having overnighted in Oamaru and noted that I had heaps of unfound caches between Oamaru and Kakanui I decided to spend the afternoon clearing as many of them as I could. This was find #16.
On a trip down in the lower South Island with woolwood9.
We soon had the container found SL: **tm/ww NZ**
*Thanks for putting this cache out for us to visit*

A rather wet afternoon, so took my girls and nieces and nephew out for a drive. Saw there was a very close cache so came and grabbed it. Was a perfect easy park n grab. Made the kids get out of the truck to get a pic out in the rain by the beach. Was heading over to the drift wood area to get a pic when right there was a seal! My first cache and see a seal moment! Awesome! Thanks for the placement of the cache!
Think there is a good chance this one is gone; the driftwood log has moved some distance from where it was in Dec 2017 in one of the photos.
Damn, hate finishing the day on a DNF. We wonder if the driftwood have been moved?

Third time lucky for us after at least two previous failures. Surprisingly today it was a quick easy find. TFTC
Very pleased with a nice quick find today to turn a frown from 3 years agointo a nice yellow smilely. Very pleased with that thanks hill55. TFTC # 13,308
A few people were braving the water. I had to wait for the ones on the beach to get use to me before going for the cache. Well hidden in the long grass.
Weekend trip to Oamaru and Dunedin for the Pink Concert so doing some caching on the way. TFTH.
On a quest to complete the Hidden Creatures challenge so again off to Oamaru to find about 80 caches and this was one of them. I have driven past here a million times and today was the day to stop. TFTC
A quick and easy find. Came back to find this one after the party had finished nearby. Thanks
A weekend away to Oamaru and environs. A beautiful day today, warm with blue skies.
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

A almost by accident cache. Muggle husband was turning car round just as I looked at my phone. We where 15 m away so he let me get it
Busy on the beach today, but spent some time watching the waves. Found with Lollipopcat and SpyDude13. Kia ora for the cache.
Easy find. Any excuse to come to the beach is a great one, thanks for the reason to detour
Day 3 of our 6-Day End of the Year caching trip to Dunedin. A easy find. We could hear kids yelling down the beach about a seal. We dont know if was still alive or not but the parents were yelling back to leave it alone anyway. It was quiet windy and the bag kept inflating when I was trying to put it away Thanks for the effort in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy. Happy Caching
I had a goal to get to 2000 finds before the end of 2017 so a 2 day caching mission to Oamaru was in order. I took the back roads and headed towards Kakanui. A lovely summers day and there were a couple of people swimming nearby. Took a seat and admired the view which made it easy to retrieve cache, sign log and place it back. TFTC
Overnight trip to dunnas but first a morning paua dive at kakanui grabbed this on the way out finally able to locate .log book soaked so removed and replace with couple of bits of paper will need a new one soon tftc
Was pretty sure it was there and it was. Have moved it a metre to make easier as the driftwood it was hiding in had almost completely rotted away.
Bbear44 and I were spending a few days in Oamaru getting things organised for the geofest.
This is our second full day. We will be camping in Herbert during the geofest. We decided to drive and have a look and on the way look for a few more geocache.
We spent ages looking for this one. Bbear44 kept searching. Logbook was soaked.
Find out more about New Zealand's next big event [Oamaru Geofest](http://oamarugeofest2017.wixsite.com/geocachingevent) and come and join us.
Thanks. hill55 for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find 5088 for me.

Having a few days at the wonderful kakanui camp ground. Collecting a few caches around the area
Stopped here for a picnic lunch on the way south today. Found this one after a short search, it wasn't where I was expecting to be and the hide was well concealed by long grass. Coordinates were very accurate. Signed log, TFTC
No luck for us here today, but with time against us we didn't spend too much time here.
I found a pen and the cords. Often a sign that the cache is gone.
Maybe the owner proves it and maybe as well the coordinates.
Thanks

Thanks
Our second visit to this cache, and our second DNF. We looked at both the coordinates, and the more probable(?) large nearby object, but still without success.
Did our sneaky best to check out the most likely places, but the beach was very busy today, so couldn't give it our best shot.
Had a really good look in all obvious places .Maybe my geocaching eyes weren't focused today.
Had a good hunt around all the obvious hiding places, but no cache to be found...
