Pretty sure we were looking in the correct place. GPS said it was quite some meters away. Came up empty handed. Has the cache been muggled? A lot of DNF now!
Even though there have been so many DNFs, this one was to tempting being so close to the hotel. Had a Crack on the off chance but sadly no joy.
dont have an actual GPS, just the phone ... but absolutely no luck. Nice to walk up a new hill though, and gorgeous day
Didn't realise it had so many DNF's or we wouldn't have tried. Add another one to the list. Pretty sure it's missing
2nd time looking. From the clues it sounds like it can't be anywhere other than where we are looking. But we can't find it. Is it definitely still here?
Had a really good look for this today and I also found myself in the middle of the park at GZ. I couldn't find the rope swing here either so couldn't even have a play when I gave up looking. I tried and tried many different options whilst looking to no avail but will keep an eye on this one and maybe I can have another look next time I am down this way.
returned for another try as the cache owner kindly gave me an extra hint. Same result - a dnf.
went for an early morning walk and this was the nearest cache to the motel. Nice spot but I wasn't able to find the cache. GPS pointed to the middle of the park and I didn't get the hint.
Fantastic views! We are really enjoying finding all the hidden spots in New Plymouth and learning about the history! TFTC
#6412. A nice walk up to Fort Niger Reserve this afternoon. GZ was all quiet when we visited. Quick find. The cache was in good condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
Quick find. Co-ords off a tad but there was only one place it could be.

Found this cache during our NZ holiday in 2015.
Thanks at all owners for hiding and showing us the places.

Found it while walking the landlords dog, who may have to become my part time geohound lol TFTC
What a good spot with great views. Watched the TRT rescue chopper exercising with the surf club for rescue over water off East End. Enjoyed the hint TFTC!
Good hide. Took a while. Had to go back over older posts for clues. Put TB49K7X MAsterpaars KIWI-TB. Inside owners are soon to be in NZ to take the Travel Bug home to Germany. Unless you can help it on its way closer to where it needs to be.
Found while collecting a few local caches in the area while staying nearby while on holiday. TFTC banjoboy2012, #7487
Exactly where it said it would be! Didn't even know this place existed! Thank you so much!
Looped the reserve a couple of times but gps had me In the middle. I pondered previous clues and something stuck out. Re-visited something and voila.
Found it after a short wander up the track, no muggles to be seen at the only house nearby. Great views too TFTC
Had business at both ends of the Island and managed a transition day inbetween to find my first ever caches in Taranaki - glad I did. Thanks for putting these out and bringing me to this neck of the woods.
Last one for the day. Puffed up the hill and was grateful to find a bench to rest on. It was a very helpful bench! TFTC
We are down from Hamilton for Labour weekend and having a good walk around the city, collecting caches that we haven't got on previous visits. We didn't realise this little park was here, but what a wonderful spot for an overview of the city, and an interesting history too. Thanks so much for bringing us here.
I live in the region but say I've never been here a lot. This a magic spot. Climbed up the side of the hill then realised that there is actually a path. Follow the path...

Out for a bit of exercise TFTC - dropped off Waiit20 Breast Cancer geocoin
Had a bit of spare time while in New Plymouth today so came for a walk to here. Nice spot and a great view! The GPSr was putting me well out onto the grass but it was obvious from the hint where it was likely to be. A quick find - signed log, TFTC.
Great spot obviously for a defence post, enjoyed the views and learning a bit of local history.

An interesting historic location with some nice views, thanks for the info and for showing us this reserve. Our coordinates were out by 20m today.
Gps had us going around is circles, but we kept on looking until we had cache in hand.
Great views overlooking the city and up the coast. The signboard explains the history nicely but I was also fortunate to be accompanying Cats&Dragons who grew up in the area and was able to explain the sights in even more detail.
Many thanks

Headed south with Zorgon for a bit of a trip through some backroads to find caches some distance from the next closest cache for a stage of the GCLS Challenge.
In town today for a local event before heading back north so have to collect as many caches as time will allow. great spot here and early enough to be muggle free. Brought back a lot of memories from playing around here when staying at Grandmas place (or at least that was where i was meant to be)

Duh, got it this time without friends trying to send me out on a limb on a wrong branch. It has nothing to do with trees, although I gather the old coordinates had something to do with a tree and rope swing. Hell, the rope swing was in the days when I was a cub scout at the Henui troop whose hall was located here (1960's). In the end easy really. TFTC
The GZ seems to have been overcome with growth - possibly in line with the hint - and despite poking around I could not find it
Lived New Plymouth all my life and never ventured up here! A nice excuse to come up and find another cache and watch the sunset!
Nice cache to find during a morning of geocaching around New Plymouth whilst on holiday. TFTC
Gps is off. But there is only one place it could be. Son left a lion eraser took nothing. TFTC
I just had to do another cache before leaving New Plymouth this morning. This one nice and close to the motel.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Nice to discover this interesting little reserve. It's great just how many new places one discovers while geocaching. Quickly located the cache. Had solved a puzzle recently so decided we might as well now try and get to that one before dark. Thanks for the cache.
Another cracking day in New Plymouth and a nice end to a day laying the 45 on SH 45 power trail. TFTC
In Taranaki for the weekend and I really enjoyed the history and the caches which highlighted the stories.
Lovely view. TFTC.

Had just booked into the motel and wanted to go for a walk. This being the nearest, it was a good way to explore alittle bit of this great little city. Got to gz and my gps had me out about 15 meters. There was really only place to look tho. A nice quick find and a nice view over the town TFTC
Saw the cache as I arrived at the top of the hill. There were two women playing ball reasonably close to the GZ so sat down and pretended to take a phone call until they disappeared. Quickly retrieved and signed. TFTC
Hint needed to find this one. Found cache on a road trip to Auckland Mega with Rediguana. TFTC
Nice quick find. Port there isn't more info or a display of some sort up here.
Cheers Gav

Couldn't find, GPS was jumping all over which didn't help but couldn't find rope swing either
Another good find today - liked the little park.
Good views all around as well.
Out in the area with TuisReturn finding some caches.

Quick grab near the hotel I stay. So far the weather is not so good around here. Hopefully it's gonna be better for the rest of our trip!
Thanks for the cache!

Thanks for the cache!
Greetings from Canada!
Co-ordinates do seem to be about 10m out, but there really wasn't any other place for the cache to be so I was finding by instinct anyway. Quite windy up in the reserve today and a bit cool, so we were glad to drop back down to street level afterwards. TFTC
Initally I had old co-ords so No find checked it out found new co-ords and tried again.. still 10-12 m. out from both of the GPS but hint narrowed it down.. WE were accompanied by a pair of beautiful tui and others and their lovely sounds , as well as numerous fantails. What an outstanding view on a day like today!!! I can see why it was chosen as a fort as the view right up to Kawjia was magnificent. Thank you
Nice to be first in the new log. Found in the dark with zissas. She is hard to stop
Found in the fading light, although GPS suggested a spot some meters away from the actual hiding place. TFTC
