#3913 An outing with DeadThief and injuryman to pick up as many caches as we could physically manage along Mt Tennant, Bushfolds Flat and Blue Gum Creek Fire Trails. Parked the vehicle of the day (injuryman-mobile) and hit the trail at 7.15am. It was a fair hike all on foot and returned to the car at 3.45pm. No idea how many kilometres in total but my body is starting to contest my ownership.
While this may be the beginning of some journeys it was close to the end of ours.
Found and logged before starting our final ascent.

Said hello to the small group of cows, who seemed quite aggressive! They seem to be stuck between the two paddocks which is strange! We then powered on to this next cache for a quick find
---
**Today:**
Decided to make use of the cool, dry weather after a couple days of rain to come on a hike down in Namadgi! I can't even remember the last time I found myself hiking in Namadgi, I struggle to find the time for it amongst other geocaching adventures but I hope to do more soon!
Sent an invite out to sebass as well, after discovering he was keen to go caching with some company! Always good to have another friendly face to enjoy the experience with and looking forward to caching together in the future, we already have future plans to tackle the second half of the Tennant Trail! This trip we started on the Tennant Fire Trail, grabbing the first 10 caches in the series that follows it, before diverting along Bushfold Flats Fire Trail for some more unique caching in a new area! Couldn't keep up half the time, despite walking 30,000+ steps and 24km, Sebass was still powering at god speeds by the end of it!
Thanks Tankengine for the adventure

I had meant to come up here a month ago with the CO and friends on a maintenance run; alas, I was feeling bleh after my Covid vaccine so gave it a miss. Fast forward a month and today found the GeoKids and I getting a bit of the school holiday boredom, so we packed up and parked in the usual spot off Apollo Rd (spying the cars of our caching buddies StarsAlign + Contesta there too!).
We set off along the fire trail on what turned out to be a superb winter's day. As always a spectacular, although steep in parts, walk. It's great to see the regrowth after the destruction of the fires, but also sad to see the damage caused which is very apparent when looking across to Deadman's Hill and Booroomba Rocks.
All the 25 caches we found today were in (unsurprisingly) excellent condition and were quickly located at GZ with the assistance of bespoke coordinates and generous hints. All up we walked 17.68km return with an 820m elevation gain. The trip took us 6:20hrs which included generous breaks for snacks and fo me to get my great back (the GeoKids charged up and down the mountain!) as well as a short diversion into Bushfold Flats hut.
This is a superb caching trail, Tankengine - thank you! We all enjoyed it immensely.

Out with a bunch of geocachers to climb Mount Tennant on a Sunny but cold winters day. The bunch of cachers being Joolay, Isopedia, Contesta and the CO. The CO needed to do maintenance, so we decided to join him on a walk/bike up the hill. All caches found (as originally placed or as replaced today) in accordance with the hints unless otherwise indicated.
On the board!
Thanks Tankengine for the caches, the exercise and the fun!

So icy. Bike helped crossing the creek.
Found with Tankengine, Flintstones, Isopeda, Contesta and AngelG27, venturing up Mt Tennant. Not sure if I am crazy or not. Fabulous day to be out and about.

After a freezing start to the day, was lucky enough to be part of the ‘official maintenance crew’ assisting the CO to check on the Tennant Trail series.
Decided on taking the MTB as it’s not had nearly as much used as I would have liked in recent weeks so any excuse is a good excuse right. Up up and away! Great adventure to finally find this series after the fires.
Grateful thanks Tankengine, for placing and maintaining so many great caches that continue to bring joy and entertain me on my journey.

Out on the trail with Tankengine, AngelG27, Joolay to find caches with owner maintenance. First time back in this part of Namagi after the fires.

30,000+ steps, 27 caches and a leisurely (though hard work at times) 6 hour trip to Tennent's Tip and back with dty73 and Tankengine.
Luckily the weather remained kind to us throughout the day and the rain stayed away (and it's always easy to find a cache with the CO in tow!)
Thanks for placing this series along the trail and inspiring me to ascend the mountain today. I definitely appreciated all the stops to search for caches, though it was difficult at times to convince the legs to start moving again!
Thanks again dty73 and Tankengine for a fun day out.

BoujeeBunny and Tankengine had made plans to come and pick up the caches all the way up to the top. As I hadn't done these yet I asked if I could join in the "fun".
So BoujeeBunny picked Tankengine and I up at about 8am and we were parked at No. 1 just before 9am. 6hrs later we had climbed up and back (approx. 15kms), collected 25 caches (for me as I had done No. 1 & 2 previously), had lunch, seen a hut and met a lot of crazy people who seemed to just climb the mountain for fun of it without getting one cache!! Muggle Madness!! We were even passed by one crazy person who was running down the road - we bet that he had run up it too.
It was a good day for it though. The weather was cool and clear, but I still had to take my jacket off half way up. The rain from the previous night had softened the ground, but even though there were a couple of times one of us would sink up to the laces of our shoe in a spot or two, the road was mainly just soft which I think was better than hard dry ground. The wind at the top was chilly though and once we had stopped and sat down for a little to eat lunch I had to put my jumper back on.
As Tankengine was there each cache of his was checked and maintaince performed if neccessary. The couple that weren't his were all fine too.
Thanks for a great day guys and of course TFTC Tankengine!!!

Another one done. Woo Hoo! I enjoyed finding this one at 10:23:35 AM with OzGeoBerries.
I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my 2 boys, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs and see names of my friends who have found caches around the country. Thanks go to **** for making the effort to place this cache and maintain it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and it is very much appreciated.
TFTC! Cheers. *Jump Pilot*

What an incredible hike! An amazing trail with breathtaking views. The weather turned at the summit and we got some lightning and thunder, so our time at the tip was cut short. A great (but slightly wet) walk back down the front. TFTC
It was getting about time I explored this side of Mount Tennant - for years I've been ascending the northern face from the Namadgi Visitor Centre, and I'd found all the Tennant Trail caches in the upper stretch. While I knew all along that a trail led up the other side (and have driven past the trailhead plenty of times!), I'd never actually thought to try it.
Given the density of caches, however, I decided not to do the whole thing in one afternoon, and instead followed the track until the turnoff to Bushfold's Flat, to make that the objective of the day's journey.
Altogether it was a very pleasant walk, not too warm, and completely deserted on the trail! I had a couple of close encounters with snakes, and once with a wayward calf, but came to no harm. Definitely a walk I reccomend!
Thanks for the caches!

It had been a while since I'd walked up a good hill (six weeks in the complete flatness of central-northern Victoria followed by a dodgy back will do that) and if you're after a good hill, Mt Tennent is as good as any. I had walked this trail once before without doing any caches - one of those days I just felt like walking without stopping to cache - but today the caches beckoned.
Quite a long, tough walk and a few days of aching legs followed, but it was definitely worth it to summit Tennent on this glorious day. All caches found without trouble. Lyrebirds spotted. Emu tracks spotted. All rather excellent.
Apologies for the generic caches, but you'll understand. TFTC x 20 something

A more strenuous than expected ramble up Mt a Tennant on a rather warm Canberra Day. Three muggles along for the ride. I think this trail is more difficult than the other trail....
Some of the calves are loose on the road and prancing around

With the warmer day it was a respectably early start collecting CBR_Grahams along the way that had us starting to walk about 7am. With the cool of the morning the almost continual climb wasn't noticed any where near as much as I had thought it would as we walked upwards stopping as needed and taking a few breaks. The casual approach made for a very scenic and enjoyable walk, taking in the area and its views as they appeared. Good company and plenty of conversation passed the time and although that one last climb at the end towards the summit was felt, arriving at the top and taking in the 360 degree views made the walk completely worth it.
The highlight of the top would have to be invited up into the fire viewing platform with the most amazing views and the very high powered binoculars we were offered to take it all in. Spectacular!
The walk down was a lot slower with the heat of the day and was surprised at how steep it was at times, but overall was a much easier and achievable walk than I could have imagined. The last hill up to the car was by far the hardest of the day but the esky of ice cold drinks waiting for us was very welcomed. Thanks for the cache Tankengine.
Walking down towards the cache the valley was green and very pretty, the creek crossing looked a picture but recent rains over the crossing made for an interesting crossing at the creek along the way but a jump over at a narrow point had the feet dry.

So Aquilus1 messages me, "do you want to do the Tennant Trail", for sure... when? "tomorrow morning", hmmm OK, The geowife gave the all clear and I set the alarm to stupid-o-clock so we could get it all done and dusted well before the heat really settled in. So we park the car at 7am and Aquilus1 very patiently waits for me to make the first two finds which she has done before.... right, the real action starts now!
It was a surprisingly pleasant walk up the mountain, though we decided not to kill ourselves and we took our time. We walked past a few caches without realising.... we were way to chatty but these offered things to do on the descent. At the top we were invited up onto the fire viewing platform which offered amazing views, especially with the binoculars that they use.
All in all a long, but very rewarding day. The car never looked so good and there were even ice cold drinks inside...Yay!
This third one was quickly found after crossing a little stream near some amazing willow trees, and by this time I was thinking to myself... wow, three down already, this is going to be a cakewalk.... famous last words if I ever heard them. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache and the whole series.

Wonderful walk/climb with b&s today ... thanks for the cache and the series Tankengine
Two geokids on the cache hunt and ignoring the hill ahead . A few caches on the way will be good distraction. Aim is bushfold hut and if we have motivation and energy push on to the top, but let's see how we go our third cache was quick in hand. Nice Hidy hole. Tftc
The third cache on the Mt Tennent route today. Quickly found. Some black cattle on the trail, but they ran at our approach, we being big scary creatures . The dun beetles have been impressively busy in the cow pats. TFTC Tankengine.
TikvaNZ and I decided Christmas Eve was a perfect opportunity to undertake a 6hr assault of Mt Tennent, by completing the Tennent Trail series up to the top and plenty of bush-bashing down the other side. 28 caches, 1 small brown snake, 1 blue tongue and 3 goannas!
TikvaNZ had got many of the first set of caches, so I grabbed them as quickly as I could. Quick find here. TFTC TE

After trying a few TE caches, I thought he was "taking the piss". The inner containers on this series proved it. TFTC
After some research into the weather forecast and discussions about what a serious storm warning (level 1) means when you go for bush biking, we decided in the end to give it a try. The decision was a bit late, though, as we found out when we were further up. In any case, this was the first find for the day and because of the accurate coords and the hint, it was an easy one.

Great, sunny autumn day to hike up to Mt Tennent. Many thanks for placing so many caches along the way, making an enjoyable hike even more enjoyable.
4738. Well Relish64 and myself decided it was time to hit the trail, so with backpacks loaded we made a casual start and headed off.
A great trail with some welcome breaks at each cache. No troubles locating each one and eventually we found ourselves at the top with some very rewarding views.
We totally agree that everyone should at least come up here once and we will definitely be back up here again. Maybe a different route.
Many thanks TE for the extra motivation with this trail and apologies for the generic log.... but you get that !!!

Found this cache on the way back to the car after getting 05b of the trail. The cache location seemed fairly obvious to me as I was passing, so quick grab and sign of the log.

Found today with some bush walking friends. We walked to the summit of Mount Tennent from the Namadgi visitor's centre, and then walked down the other side of the hill to collect these caches. I think Tennent is actually probably easier form the cache direction, but less scenic. Overall, 1,000 meters vertical ascent and about a 16km walk.
Thanks for all these caches, much appreciated.
Thanks for all these caches, much appreciated.
Not being winter, I waited for a cool day to attempt this series. Just looking at the road made me feel tired before even starting! Although considered a "walk in the park" by many cachers, I found this tough going with its relentless uphill climbs. I think I was a teenager when I last climbed this hill so it's been a long time. Overall a great day out, just a pity about the roadwork crews that were grading the road and making lots of noise. 3.75 hours up (lots of stops!), 1.5 down.
Knelt down here to get the cache and got bitten by two ants (through the trousers). I then had to walk up the hill with a very sore knee with bite lumps on it. Fortunately things improved during the day.
Thanks

#1222 3 of 24 today.
I have a 'spare' week of leave to use up. Hmmm what should I do ? Sit around at home ? Not likely !
I've had the Tennent Trail in my sights for some time. I've been up here once before on a bush walk about 5 years ago. The view was one of the best I've seen. Time to revisit & claim a few more Tankengine caches. I must be getting close to 100.
I was a bit worried about doing the Tennent Trail today after waking to wind & rain, but the forecast was for clearing conditions, so I thought I'd delay the start & head out anyway. I'm glad I did. As I climbed higher & higher the conditions progressively improved. By the time I reached the summit, clear blue sky, a few gusts of wind but otherwise lovely, uninterrupted, breathtaking views - with no muggles.
Well got my shoes wet getting to this one.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine.

Last when in the area for the earth cache at the old tracking station we saw this bush power trail and thought that looks like a good leg stretcher so we had it in mind for today but things got away from us a little bit on checking the forecast we figured we could still get up and back prior to night fall. We parked and headed over to the gate for the first of the finds we had targeted (we are on a bit of a diet to avoid 1.5/1.5 caches. The creek looked to have a bit of water flowing in it but as we got close we could see it was very shallow and our shoes would be water proof enough for a quick dash. We started to get a feel for the hides but skipped two on the way up as the school had a camp setup happening but we got them on the way back down. We also could not find two others on the way up and rather than use up all our time searching instead of reaching the top but found them quickly on the way down. A walk with plenty of Roos around for a round trip of just over 3.5 hrs. A couple of damp logs but all signable and we drained what we could from a few containers. TFTC.

Time to finally get round to doing Tennent Trail. I have been looking forward to this one for a long time.
Started a bit warn out after doing "Gudgenby George" which I didn't expect to be difficult. I haven't been up this track for quite some time. Last time was for a night cache (now archived) on push-bikes.
It's a continuous "up" power series, so it was just a matter of keeping going. Finished the lot and did a couple of extras that were along/near the trail.

Haven't been up Tennant for nearly four years. Since the time of the one smiley on top there is now a great collection. Started late, so hiked up the Southern face as quick as possible with Fit02, lunch at the top (great hot chocolate thanks to Fit02). Rapid decent with caches along the way.
Found this one with Dad and AwesomeL. Finally catching up with some logs.
Thanks. Enjoyed the walk part way up the mountain.

8548 + 990 = 9538. With some spare time up our sleeves - but not too much - I decided that a walk about a third of the way up would suffice today with GSC2000 and AwesomeL.
After number 2 we hit the fire trail and wandered down. A quick find at GZ by GSC2000 and we were soon on our way to number 4.
Thanks again Tankengine !! Its been a while since I was up this way and the kids first time !

#85 The third cache of the day whilst climbing Mt Tennent with my dad. After passing through the starting gate, we really began our journey. This was the first cache on the track. We had to cross a fast flowing river (not really ) before getting to this one! Luckily for us, the people ahead of us were gone and then it was a quiet search for this one. Found quickly, took some photos of the frost and ice (must have been cold last night!) and signed and returned the cache. TFTC Tankengine!
Great series! Didn't quite make them all today but we got snowed on, which was exiting.

Down in the ACT to visit family, who are all working today, so I've decided to climb a mountain!!
I left a bit later than I was intending on and made a stop at the visitors information centre to learn a bit more about this beautiful area of countryside.
Found this one without any issues. While signing the log the ranger pulled up to the next gate and began unlocking and opening it to get her vehicle through. While she was walking back to the vehicle I slipped the cache back in its hiding location before heading over to say hi.

What a nice part of the world, c-chord and I visited as part of the Tennant Tragics. TFTC.
Easy find with Primary Evidence & Zangetsu. Who we thought was a crowd of muggles turned out to be JLT & friends. What a great mob they were. All of us wanted to tackle Mt. Tennant on the Queens Birthday. Thanks TE.
Found at 0900 - so far so good, a nice easy trek with a creek crossing to whet our appetites. Finding the cache couldn't have been simpler if it was handed to us - which it was, as we arrived at GZ just as the other group were about to stash the container again. The log was signed with the team name and we headed off again, following in the footsteps of the advance party. Thanks Tankengine.

After arranging to tackle this series and a few extras today, the team consisting of Zangetsu, TheSkype and myself headed off on the Mount Tennent trek. After meeting up with the "Tennent Tragics" at the carpark, we split shortly after and made our own way onwards and upwards.
Nearing the top, we met up with Green-martian, who guided us down the rocky escarpment from the peak, down past "Tennent Trauma" and back to the vehicle(s) via the rock/mud slide and following the creek bed nearing the bottom. What an experience it was!
Apologies for the generic log(s), don't normally resort to this but with multiple logs it was to be.
TFTC and the series Tankengine!
Well worth it and thoroughly enjoyed.

"Tennent Tragic" team - SiteHounder, joeylovestreasure, C-chord, ACTchil, TripperOutThere, KittyKatch and AmethystPig and of course "Nutto" hopefully converted muggle, and bumping into Zangestu, TheSkype and Primary Evidence at GZ... was feeling okay at this stage, not minding the walk tftc Tankengine.
This was the second one we found on the trail - we'd been following the fence line rather than the road, so decided to hop over and come back for number 2 on our way back. Found fairly quickly by Tomiquid who was hoping that there would be treasure inside.
TFTC and the wonderful views. Found with Mehitabelcat and Tomiquid.

Woo hoo! Find number 800 for this little pup! Okay, it wasn't a find because The Skype and his two friends had already pulled it out before we got there. TFTC TE - fav point to mark my 800th find!
I had a great day walking to the top of Mt Tennent and finding this series of caches with Darzee Di, KittyKatch, Sitehounder, Tripperoutthere, Amethyst pig, Knutto, joeylovestreasures and c-chord. It was a tough climb but well worth the effort. tftc Tankengine
Tennent Tragic Team sets out and all easy now, down hill past all the cows and over the running creek at the bottom. We meet up with the other 3 cachers here and all sign the LB. Seeming pretty easy at this stage. Looking forward to the climb...
As I said in the first of this trail GC4B97M these have all blurred so not much more to add.

A nice wander up Mt Tennent Fire Trail to the tip, collecting caches on the way. TFTCs.
A great series! So well put together and it encourages a great walk. A huge investment by the CO for our enjoyment. See 'GC4BAJT 21 Tennent trail - Burnt tree' for some individual details. TFTC and TFTS, Tankengine.
A beautiful Australia Day morning, what better way to spend time than doing some geo's.
Easy. Now off to Mt Tennant to do the rest:-) Started around 8.15am and got back to car around
1pm, including doing bushfold view, walking directly down Mt Tennant. Quick Grab.

Thanks Tankengine. Great series! A very tough, challenging and rewarding hike. I'll write my full log on Number #21.
End of the valley & paddocks. So many flies!!! Heading back into the national park now & up the mountain. TFTC
The rock looks like it was hit with a big hammer. Still on level trake but we know whats comming up. SLTN..TFTC
9.50 am, we grabbed a branch from the willow tree we passed to shoo the flies, the morning is temperature was perfect so far but its not going to last, the slow up grading of the altitude seem to be a taste of what to expect. Our daughter was concerned that my troubled knee may not be able to take the track. shell be right! Co ods are spot on. TFTC
A great day. Split rock was the perfect description. Cache soon in hand.
Thanks Tankengine,

Found at 10:27:00 AM.
After a four km early morning walk BatGirl and I decided we needed more exercise so we headed over to do these caches and perhaps 1 more "on the way".
Funny, we were just talking about this cache's, ahem, larger cousin. Left TB
