Logs
Second find of the day with nucleargunter, we were a bit concerned reading the prior logs and seeing two DNFs, but thankfully, this was exactly where it should be. This was also the most colourful log I've ever seen, and the view was lovely, even on miserable day like today. TFTC!
08/10/22 our first geocache as a couple as a memory of 1 year being together with A beautiful hidden away gem of a view, rather stunning to record
Very cool spot! Easy parking a few meters away. The waterproof pink and green ribbon log was a good idea! And helpful because it's been quite some time since the last find, and there was a puddle in the bottom. TFTC!
My second target cache whilst 'over this way' and it fulfils my S36 degrees challenge cache needs, thanks for that No Fixed Aboder. Nice views down to the 'lake' and the log strip of florists paper has done it's job and is easily signable.
Well, this weekend is not what I thought it would be, but it also kind of is too! mrs c was supposed to be heading down to Taihape for the week, leaving on Saturday morning and coming back Thursday. This meant that my 'plan' for a raid out Leigh/Matakana way and then next day clearing out another couple for areas out that way would a few cache finds and boost my find numbers by certain prolific hiders. Alas, it was not to be, though mrs c encouraged me to pursue my original Saturday plans and I didn't need telling twice. I was keen on an on-foot assault on the Matakana 'cycleway' and a couple of other target caches on the back roads out towards Pakiri/Wellsford roads. I ended up with over 50 finds, quite unheard of these days and a mighty 15kms walked, nice. The unexpected rain came and went and I saw lots of stuff, which is good. Thanks all COs for their hides encountered.

Find Number 7173. My daughter is walking the Te Araroa so I decided to meet her for Christmas day so was heading to Pakiri Beach. As I was heading to Mangawhai first I cached my way back to Pakiri. I parked in a safe spot some 50m away and walked back to GZ. After signing the log and looking up the cache name made sense. Thank you for the placement.
Visiting a friend who lives just down the road so I snuck out to grab this cache. A nice easy find here and a nice view of the lake
Stopped to take in the view with rebel98
Found the container in the grass, to moved it closer to the lamp post, a little damp the log, but was still able to sign.
Thanks for the hide No Fixed Aboder

Nice find with woolwood9 today.
We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!
TFTC
*A lot of gravel roads around here!!*

My objective today was all about the numbers - but not the usual numbers - I was after missing minutes to complete the South 36 Challenge (GC54X4E). I started the day needed 11 more and managed to get them all while dodging rain showers along the way. An interesting detour off the main road and some great views at GZ - and a cache too. TFTC, Biggles.
I came here to get this cache for the 36° South Latitude Challenge. Coming from Pakiri, Google maps took me in a big loop before turning towards GZ. Very colorful log paper. TFTC.
Loved taking the backroads with fabulous views till we reached this cache. Nice quick find. TFTC
First find for Team ElijahBern! Clever waterproof paper to sign. Massive rains before hand....clear day for this adventure. Nice views and outlook. Safe offroad park just along. tftc
Am needing a .10 and .12 to complete the 36 degrees challenge, and this was the 12.
Nice and quick find, but log was full of water. Emptied this out, signed and replaced, TFTC

Decided to head out with Mrs NZ Travellers, cragger, laval and NZIceman to find the Northernmost Auckland cache (and some others of course) as we are working on a challenge cache for our D/T grid.
Really glad I didn't have to get wet feet to get this smiley! Found in the obvious spot.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache.
On a caching mission with Keylev, Laval, Cragger and NZIceman to collect a few northern caches. Although the weather was quite windy and we had a few small showers we had great fun driving around the dirt roads in NZIcemans new ute!
Signed the log as Mini SEAC or M SEAC as we were a small contingent as the southern and eastern caching group today and it saved time and log book space.
Quick park and grab here, nice view of the said island and lake - just was glad we didnt have to get the cache on the island! TFTC!

Overshot this one slightly so had to jog back for it, it's a pretty quiet spot so no worries being along the road. Once we got to GZ that cache was found in the obvious spot. Bit of water here, must have been raining even though it was sunny now. The outer bag is up to the task however. Very novel log paper here. Thanks for the cache, nice little view.
Awesome spot! Saw the cute little lake! Very windy today so hand writing is super messy as the log book kept flapping about This was my 26th find! TFTC!
Mangawhai
Visiting family north of Auckland.
We had a batch here for about fourty years, nice to be back again. We made a tiki tour of the places we used to visit regularly when we lived here. Thanks for the memories.

This little lake and island reminded me of lake Taal in Philippines, but that one had a lake in an island in a lake in an island in the main lake in the volcano crater - amazing.
Cache was a quick find where expected. TFTC

2.30pm - Early start for the Squirrel and me, out to the west coast and then up to Auckland. Collected a few older puzzles that we had been working on with others in our group then met up with Mrs Fap at our daughters place for the night. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Another big weekend drive to clock up some distance mileage.
Distance from previous cache: 31.75 km
We didn't appreciate the significance of the cache title until we looked more closely. What a neat view! The wind whipped through here, causing the overhead powerlines to scream... We guessed who the CO was by the colourful log which took flight in the breeze. TFTC.

Easy find in a beautiful location. I will be surprised if the log is ever full!! So much paper (and very nice colors!!) SL TFTC
Wow .....had no idea about all the gorgeous lakes out here !
On way with friends to walk a clifftop trail at Mangawhai !
Thanks for showing us this !

While I was driving the GPS said 179m to the cache, then 2 secs later it said -14m, so I could see the GPS was having a 'senior moment'. Pulled over quickly and sure enough I had driven past it, so reversed quickly rally style and in secs I was across the road from GZ! Once I was out of the car the GPS behaved itself and I soon had the cache in hand. Nice view from here alright to the lake! Man-made I'd say. This cache fitted in nicely with a challenge cache I'm doing today! (GC54X4E).
No where safe to park in our motor home so had to run down road 200 metres to get this. Thanks for the placement
Love this part of the country; Te Arai Point is one of my favourite beaches. Was with a muggle so not able to do any hunting but we happened to stop up the road to fix something on the car so I decided to check the map to see if any caches were in the area - there was, and only a couple of hundred metres up the road. Found quickly and visit logged. Loved the bright logging paper, it was like unfurling Xmas ribbon. Nice little lake too. TFTC.
A nice quick find, thanks for the excuse to stop here. The farmland around this area is really beautiful with lots of native trees. My first cache for 2017. 2 January 2017 12:06 GH6710 T F T C No Fixed Aboder
This afternoon we dropped one of our daughters off near Mangawai to join her husband and friends to walk the rest of the Te Araroa Trail. Afterwards we made use of being in the area to pick up a few caches. That certainly is a small lake. Thanks for showing us.
Our first geocaching experience. Great school holiday fun with the kids. Looking forward to many more finds. contents were a bit sticky though due to a treasure that had leaked
Out and about with Miss Davieland. Nice easy find using the hint. Picked up the TB as well.
Out and about today collecting caches placed in the vicinity of North Auckland. Rain seems to have passed for now. Took the opportunity to park up right by GZ. A quick look and the goods were soon in hand. Formalities completed it was back on the road again. Cheers for the hide!
Vistra and I decided to spend the day grabbing some caches in Mangawhai and getting some on route up north.
Quick find at GZ, the contents of the cache were rather sticky and it might need to the checked on. TB out. TFTC

Beautiful countryside, beautiful lake. Cool find on our way home from mangawhai. Thanks for placing.
This weekends little adventure was in the company of HKCB (as we'd both been given leave passes by our respective partners) so off we set.
The primary goals this weekend were to collect as many of the earthcaches as time would allow, the two virtuals, and complete both the requirements for the S35 & S36 challenges. Mind you this did not stop us working to collect anything else that we could find as time allowed.
It was a great trip with the weather playing its part so that we saw a great variety of countryside between caches and far too little sleep.
THe result was 1600kms (over 48 hours), 189 caches (35 hours caching) & 4 hours sleep, not bad for a couple of beginners. THanks to all the CO's and those that maintain the caches for us to collect on our too brief tour of the north.
Very nice drive through the countryside in the dark and not too much traffic to be concerned with, would be interesting to come back in the day time to see what I've missed, more importantly, what caches I've missed.
Thanks for the placement

A day off (public holiday) and it looked like it was going to be a lovely day so what could be better than caching? This was our first cache of the day and it was a stunning site. Made my day when I found it was sized just right for Recycled Lego Man (TB) who I wanted to leave somewhere awesome and the view over this little lake this morning certainly was. Thanks for finding the view and placing the cache No Fixed Aboder!
After spending the morning in Mangawhai and completing the clifftop walkway, I decided to do a bit of a back-road tiki-tour on my return trip to Auckland. This cache was one of 3 I still needed to complete the 36 Degrees South Latitude Challenge! For some reason I was expecting a bigger lake and island, but it was a pleasant outlook none-the-less! A quick find, TFTC!
Also up this way, on the hunt for caches for every minute of South 36. Agree this is a very pretty little lake. TFTC
On the 2nd part of our mission for South 36 so many minutes for a challenge. This was a cache on our way meandering around the back roads of Mangawhai. Unlike Zorgon we spotted the wee lake and Island straight away. Quite magical looking. SL. TFTC.
I must be blind. Didn't even see the lake! I thought the cache description might have been refering to the nearby "island" of kauri trees that have been fenced off.
Many thanks
Many thanks
Found with funkymunkyzone on a mission north to find caches in different minutes of 36 degrees. A quick find, the first of three lake caches in a row!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Out caching around parts of Northland with Tufty. What a picturesque little lake. Thanks for placing a cache here.
The title was a bit worrying, but the T rating said it should be ok and so it was.

Picked this one up as we headed home and said goodbye to Sue for the day. Nice place for a cache and great views from here as well.
