It was beautiful sunny weather and I really enjoyed the trip with views, caches and a few walks. I was also very amused by the Kea parrots, which take care of the entertainment of tourists in Arthurs Pass at the caf. I found a total of 40 caches and in the evening I arrived in Christchurch, from where I am leaving tomorrow for the North Island. Thanks to everyone for the caches and greetings from the Czech Republic.

A Canterbury maintenance check day to Springfield was planned but we only made it as far as Lake Pearson today.This was our eigth stop of the day. There was no bag here so at first it looked like that was all it needed but after a pressure test the sunburnt container succumbed to pressure so it was replaced. It was an original container so its been here 10 and a half years! All good here again. Happy Caching

After having a work related stop I'm now free to do a small number of park and grabs while on our Journey back to Dunedin. This one turned out to be a lot easier than expected. Been a Saturday morning may be the reason for the absence of trucks which made it much more pleasant than it might otherwise have been.

First visit back to the SI since early 2020 and doing a road trip loop of the northern parts of the island. Our main stops are Kaikoura, Nelson, Westport and Greymouth with stops along the way to find some caches. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining their caches for our enjoyment.

Over for work, grabbing a few caches that help for my South Island 300 minutes challenge. Today is CHCH to Hokitika, up to Runanga, then Greymouth to Springs Junction.

Quickly located in the obvious place, this is quite possibly one of NZs best highways I've always though.. so always happy to come over, especially when I'm not paying for the gas

I've been interested in finding this series of caches ever since they were published. Finally, I'm here. I think this is only the second time I've been on this road, the first time was probably a one-stop trip, silly eh! I much prefer taking my time, stopping lots, having a good look around and - - - just breathing the air. Thanks for helping me do just that!

Today we were doing a day trip to just beyond Springfield for a random maintenance check day on ALL of our caches along this route to finish our planned day from last weekend that was postponed due to torrential weather that hit most of the country. Due to the easy PnG nature of the BtGs series and copy/paste logs we receive we often arnt notified of any maintenance that may need doing. Most of these BtGs we havent needed to visit since they were published 6years ago so a maintenance check day was created (but in the end not needed)
The log here was nice and dry and we were pleasantly surprised to actually find our original container.
All BtGs received a new logbook today. All good here. Happy Caching

Onto the trail proper now, it's caching all the way for lots of park n grabs and a couple of modest walks.
It's the last full day of the trip and I intended to make the most of the day and was up with the lark, cockerel more like, and in the car at 0530 ready to get going. I called in for an early brekkie and hit the road early to meet Ricardinho.nz at Springfield. We cached our way back to the West Coast via road barriers and others en route and I set off for home after leaving him in Greymouth after visiting all 8 of the TMGT caches there. Home at 7PM and a decent haul of over 80 caches, including 5 Earthcaches. Awesome scenery and views and a cracker day of weather too. 620KMS for the day travelled and time for a rest!
It's that time of year again when Marlborough residents get a double bubble, two 3-day weekends in a row and a chance to get out there and find some caches. Last weekend I headed over to Golden Bay with ricardinho and we managed a healthy numbers-boosting haul of 82 over 2 days. This weekend I'm planning on finding some already solved Canterbury caches and get me closer to a 5 figure finds number, the big 10,000. At the start of toSaturday this was a 4 day, at the end it was a 120 plus day!!
The Saturday was planned to be a big day and to get over 100 caches in a day if possible and start converting those puzzle pieces into smiley faces. Success was achieved in that we found over 120 each. I personally found my missing Smurfs, Metal Mania, Glossary of Geocaching as well as a number of other solves and collateral Traditionals. The Canterbury weather turned it on and a good day was had with ric.nz driving and me navigating (sort of)
The Sunday was a Geo-art loose ends day. My plan wqas to track down the remaining Smurfs, round up some horses and grab a couple of loose Eclipse mint tins. I also explored the realms of Springfield in preparation for a return across SH73 on Monday.

Last day of the long weekend and a long drive back to Blenheim via Greymouth (yep, that’s right) with the goal of getting a whole heap of ‘bridge the gap’ caches and anything else easily accessible or interesting.
With a lot of kms to travel, there was not room for much more unfortunately.
So a successful trip but the real heroes were the weather and the scenery.
I had forgotten a bit how stunning it can be in and around places like Castle Hill and Arthur’s Pass, and a great spring day with snow-capped mountains for a backdrop made a bit of a self-inflicted slog actually quite enjoyable.

I've been watching the weather for a couple of weeks in anticipation and I struck a great day for the trip - cold and plenty of snow further on but beautiful. First one of the series for me today. We are on a mission today trying to get the numbers for the Hidden Creatures Challenge. We were commited to some caches around Cass but also to our habit of caching back. Meaning travel as far as the furthest away cache planned for the day then find the caches on the way home. It meant a round trip of about 400km and meeting our objective in the process Overall the weather was nice to us although thick fog in the morning slowed us down for a while. We finished the BtG series that we started in May 2013 but for one that had to many prying eyes from parked vehicles. The weather conditions were from thick fog, freezing rain to bright sunshine, ink black night sky and in temperatures from below zero to rather pleasant. We awarded a fav for the series to the Master Cache. Thank you gracie7 + Mum

I decided to do something that I love doing, that is, caching, on Valentines Day incorporating a bit of a drive as well.

I will be seeing a lot of bridges up close doing this series.

Supporting my friend and his daughter as they spent a few days completing the Coast to Coast course. Took the opportunity over the first couple of days to complete 35 geocaches with the youngest daughter as my navigator.

We were heading to Christchurch so thought we would go this way. We were really impressed with the amount of safe parking at these caches through here. As we were in a campervan we only stop where we feel safe and where we feel other road users won't get upset with us. Thanks for the BtG series

Today's mission was a drive from Christchurch to Greymouth on my way home to Nelson. Trying to find 'a few' caches along the way. It's been ages since I travelled this route so there were actually heaps of caches to find and at the end of the day my tally was 81. Biggest cache day for me for a while. One of my objectives for the day was to find as many BtG caches as I could. I managed to find quite a few. A few DNFs. A few DNAs due to muggles or distraction. BtG counter = 19. TFTC, Biggles.

Day 2 S.I Sheffield to Greymouth
Drizzling rain most of the way, we stopped where we found it suitable with a car we were not used to.
The scenery along this route was amazing, great views from every angle. I think how more amazing it would be on a clear day.
It's so lovely & green & not having to worry about snakes sure is a big plus.

Its a 3 week expedition, with The Seagnoid and Zara, round the South Island. Rakiura Walkway, my objective, is bagged, so its homeward bound the long way round. Its day 21 of our epic journey - Hokitika to Christchurch today.

One of 25 caches located today on trip from Christchurch to Greymouth via Arthurs Pass. Light/medium rain most of day but still enjoyed the scenery and a leisurely drive. #1234. TFTC.

We are driving from Greymouth to Arthurs pass today and have found a lot of caches so please excuse the cut and paste logs, I normally prefer not to use them. After more than a month of experiencing the laid back NZ lifestyle we are finding much of the traffic on this road today to be in a huge rush which has made some of our stops a bit difficult, but we survived!
We enjoyed the bridge series and found all we went for. Where the log and bag were stowed separately we put them back together. Thanks for placing this series, it kept us amused on the journey

We are taking a 3 week vacation from the UK to tour around New Zealand. Arrived in Christchurch from Wellington this morning. Collected the car and started the drive to Greymouth via Porters Pass, Arthur's Pass and then the scenic route passing by Lake Brunner. We stopped and picked up many a drive by cache on our way without any problems. Thanks for everyone's hard work setting up and maintaining these caches.

After a great few days at Lake Brunner only one thing remained.. to score a few caches on the way home since I had already cleaned up Brunner. This was one of about 20 found today. Thanks for the series Gracie7 + Mum. We appreciated that there was always somewhere to pull over and that the finds were quick and easy. Hmmm I wonder if it's under there, yup. Retrieved while trying to avoid glances from passing cars.

Today is day three of NZDi's and my Blenheim - Christchurch - Greymouth - Blenheim triangular caching trip and while yesterday was all about quality caches, today is about numbers. Today we did our biggest day ever, 50 caches. Most of todays caches were pretty generic but there were a coupe of gems. Our logs were annotated Kiwimykl and NZDi, KM & ND or variations there of.

This one was a slight variation on the norm, thank for placing the cache under a drip from above.

Today's trip was from Christchurch to Greymouth (one way)... planned it the morning of and making it up as I go along. Set off at about 6am, as my bad luck would have it, last night was one of the coldest nights in years for most parts of the country, so no surprise there was black ice throughout central Christchurch. Wasn't too bad the rest of the way however, I stopped in Darfield for a while to wait for the sun to come up - hard snow on the ground from here onwards. The contractors had done a great job keeping the highway passable. Arrived in Greymouth at about 5pm. Two false starts with the GPS playing tricks under the railway bridge but got it eventually. On an epic caching mission with Shannonp1 through Reefton to Greymouth over the Lewis Pass, cacheing in Greymouth then returning to Rangiora via Arthurs Pass over two days. Final count for the weekend was over 200 caches. Quick easy find on our way past.

On an epic caching mission with Surveybase to North canterbury, Waipara, Culverdon, Springs Junction, Reefton, Greymouth, Arthurs Pass and back to Rangiora over two days. Final count for the weekend was Saturday 124 caches, Sunday 80 caches. not a bad weekends work. sorry for the cut and paste but it would take forever to log them all.

Not 2 minutes after I found a train passed by. But I was already in the car heading for Greymouth.

What to do at a rainy day like today? Searching and of course finding some caches along the road. The BtG series, where we found the first yesterday, was exactly what we need. Very nice to have the chance for parking the 8-meter-van near the most caches. Sorry for the copy and paste! Thank you very much for hiding and greetings from Dresden, Germany!

We thought about doing some of the BtG-caches we passed by when going up to Arthurs Pass, when returning down direction to Hokitika.
Well, we started "somewhere" and had fun with the numbers and spontaneously continued then. As most of the stops were easy and combined with nice photo oportunities today (as the weather graduously turned better). Finally we did quite a lot, but of course by far not all of them during this unplanned run.
#8: One stop before and one stop after the two bridges, the 2nd one took us more time because of not reading. How stupid of us.
