HA! Thought the gorse was bad at the other cache - Get ready for round 2 with the blackberries. No idea where youd rest around here though??

Found with DVNKSY tftc

We took a few minutes of searching to find this cache on our walk, however find we did. Thanks for bringing us here and TFGC.I took today off to celebrate my birthday and what better way to celebrate than by going geocaching. What a fantastic summers day for caching in and around Long Bay Regional Park with Lis's Crew.

15-Dec-23
I'm down in Auckland for a geocaching weekend with Yvettetb. She wanted to go geocaching for her birthday and I wanted to get some big numbers to bring my December tally up. Today's plan was to do the walks in Long Bay Regional Park as well as a few others enroute. We walked 18.7Kms and got 30 or so caches. It was a good bit of exercise and quite productive cachewise too. Rest and view??? No seat and the view was just tea tree along the edge of the track. We did find a couple of natural seats off the track and some blackberry but it wasn't a place I'd take a rest. I found the cache about knee high in the tree. Thanks for another hide out here Smile

05-Oct-23
After not being able to do the walk I wanted I came here and spent 1/2 a day navigating about finding caches and clicking up the step counter. Thanks for all the yellow smiles!

20-May-23
Great find thank you! The recent weather has made it a bit slippery and muddy but a fun find! Thanks for the cache!

27-Mar-23
Found. Blackberries hurt.

21-Feb-23
Rest and view is a little bit rich. Though to be fair we did rest a bit afterwards and couldn't help viewing the bloodied scratches. Still, not complaining as it was our choice to carry on in despite the fair warning we were given in the description and the logs. Some of the brambles have died so were very difficult to notice until they grabbed you in passing. How is it we always think we will be quick and smart, out of there toot sweet before the brambles even get a chance to know we are there?? Useful hint from a previous log kept us hopeful and eventually, successful. Cache is all good. TFTC

24-Dec-22
GeohoundandI didn't warn me about the blackberries, so I almost grabbed a handful. CO also almost got a message full of naughty words because GeohoundandI accidentally knocked my phone and it started to message him. And that would not be Christmas. Might try again with gloves, long sleeves and an accomplice who will pay attention.

It's Friday, which means... no uni!! Well, almost. I spent the morning finishing and submitting an assignment, then had to head up to Albany for a driving lesson, but by early afternoon I had nothing else I needed to do today so decided on a wander around Long Bay Regional Park. It's one of my favourite places that I can actually get to, since I love a good long walk and I'm a fan of marine reserves, and it was a great place to spend the afternoon.

Not really a lot of caching today, so my numbers for August are still not looking so great, but I did find a few and this was the first one. I was kind of wondering why there would be a cache here since it's not the nicest of spots, but after cursing the thorns and searching in all the places it wasn't, I finally found the cache, not as per the hint. Took me ages to get the crumpled log out too because of the shape of the container. Got there in the end and signed the log before replacing as found. All dry here at least! Thanks G-2! (#1499)

13-Jul-22
Did NOT like all the blackberry around

04-Jul-22
That was a bit of an adventure to find . Thanks!

04-Jul-22
Found!

25-Jun-22
Yep, it's there - hiding in the blackberry... Bit of a gash to my leg, but a smile on the map! Thanks

29-May-22
Headed on up to Long Bay today after an earlier attempt ended in a blown heater hose, resulting in an overheated mode of transport....then the next 4 hours were spent sorting out a tow etc...... Today was a much more successful trip......
Parked up and took the bikes for a jaunt around the park.....

Thanks for the heads up re the thorns/blackberry....definitely well guarded...

TFTC.

The blackberry won this round.
I'll be back and better equipped.

With a considerable distance between the last cache and here, I took it slowly walking up Te Oneroa Way as it was quite a steep one! Wow, the construction and development around this area is absolutely mental... quite different to when I was last here. I realised I had reached a dead end, but this didn't stop me from bush bashing my way up the large bank through all the flax, shrubs and whatnot.

I'd reached the top, but was still 60m away from the cache, and had to jump over a fence and somehow push my way through a truckload of shrubs, tightly packed together and through a dark patch of fallen trees which ultimately led me to the actual track. What an adventure!

I soon spied where GZ was, but the question was how to access it??? Every one of the 4 paths I took, led me to a large blackberry bush with heaps of thorns, but after deeming one path, the least prickly, I headed in and was punished with blackberry thorns sticking into my skin EVERYWHERE (Even my scalp) Grabbed the cache, signed it and slowly made my way out. Sadly, I didn't have a great experience finding this one with so many cuts all over me, but happy to be rewarded with a smiley. TFTC G-2!

Super keen to collect some more caches and head out on a trip somewhere, I decided I'd bus up to Long Bay Regional Park and collect some of my unfound caches around the area this afternoon. It was a nice day for it - Not too hot, not too cold and ended up collecting exactly 20 geocaches over the course of nearly 6 hours on foot! No wonder I'm feeling absolutely finished right now, and especially because of some of the demanding terrain in the regional park. Thanks very much to all CO's who made this an enjoyable day for me Wink

09-May-21
Found too many brambles in the way in and passed GZ in way in so had to retrace through the Spiky things. Quick find at GZ. Glad I left Geokids (SquishyD and MischiefD) at the path. TFTC

Rain jacket on for this one as its coming down heavy here now. Followed a geotrail to GZ, Thanks G-2.

26-Sep-20
Startled a lady jogger as I re-emerged from GZ, no harm though, prob just an increased heart-rate. All good with the hide, replaced as found.

After the couple of hours of mingling, chatting and 'hosting', everyone dispersed to their own plans and agendas and I had a plan to head to the end of the track and back, caching as I went (of course). I reckon it took me a full 2 hours to get to tracks end, but only 40 minutes from there back to the car. The sun was out, and so were the other walkers but all good and not seen by anyone for any caches, super-stealth mode.

Quite an interesting geocaching day for me today in a number of ways. First up I'm hosting my awarded Celebration Event at Long Bay after the Covid-spoiling one was cancelled at Hobsonville a while back. And that also means I get to attend/find my first cache-type of Celebration event, a new cache Icon. And best of all I get to meet the geocaching community up here in the mi8ghty Auckland area. I've cached here (in moderation) a few times over the last 13 years of living here in NZ, but never lived in the 'big smoke'. That all changed a couple of ,months ago and suddenly this target rich environment is starting to bear fruit (caches).
So, I was out of the house at around 0630 this morning with a wish to get some in before event a clock, which was all good as I managed a few finds early doors. All up today I managed just over 60 finds which was good, and after a misty start the sun attended and all was good, and hot. A D5 cache, meeting some new friends and a decent 15km walk was testament to a successful day, and a Silverdale Burger Fuel for a feed too, awesome-ness was experienced. I even managed to knock off the last few Smile puzzle finals to make my round face beam (geo-icon, not my real face!) T F T C all COs today.

26-Sep-20
Out at the community celebration event today. This is one of the caches I grabbed while here.

Decided to do a loop with Tramyard to do some caches we both needed and then headed off on a run by myself to get all the caches around the long bay point.

Thanks to all the COs who placed caches here!

Not where I expected it to be, was better hidden than my idea of where it was

29-Sep-19
Cache was out on the ground, so I put it back where I thought it's meant to be. Tftc Smile

29-Jun-19
Another nice easy find along a fantastic trail! Had the cache quickly in hand in this instance, and no muggles to be seen. Thoroughly enjoying the area, TFTC!

All okay

As it was a long weekend and today being better weather than yesterday, work having been done around the house it was a chance to get out and find the odd cache in the company of 11HPG11.
Today we managed to find a grand total of 58 caches with only 9 DNF's along the way, and even managed to be home by 4,30pm so as not to annoy Mrs Dragon too much (although privately I believe that she may rather enjoy a day at home without an annoying husband being about the house).

Setting out from Hamilton nice and early meant that we managed to locate quite a few caches without any traffic to contend with, in fact Auckland is rather pleasant at this time of the day without both people and vehicles to contend with.
It has been possibly 5-6 years since I had cached in the Long Bay Regional Park so today it was a chance for a bit of a wander and see what we could gather without too much effort. area. Heading though our walk this one didn't present any problems

Thank you to all the CO's for their hard work in making this day possible, in both the placing the caches and maintaining them. We both had a great day.

01-Jun-19
When Cats&Dragons suggested a day in Auckland collecting a few caches I was very keen. When I checked the weather forecast I wasn't quite as keen. Determined to stay dry I packed all my wet weather gears and my gumboots. Was happily surprised to not need any of this and we were treated to a stunning day of great weather and great caches. Logs were signed with either HOAC or a combination of our names.

Amazing views from up here. Enjoyed taking in the views while C&D made a quick find of the cache. Grateful for a nice spot to take a rest

05-May-19
On a sunny Sunday we returned to Long Bay for a short walk. We often walked here in 2016 but were still muggles back then. If only we had known what we missed out on!

And here we ran out of luck and couldn’t find the cache. Better luck to the next person!

31-Mar-19
Second visit in Long Bay. Last time decided to skip this part of the park. Nice to be back on not so hot day. Still warm and I enjoyed my Sunday stroll here. Found it a bit away from GZ. Replaced as per hint. TFTC

19-Aug-18
After Tinytree had lost a shoe in the mud and being rename stinkyfeet with a bit of ribbing from Tuolei we came to this cache. After letting the GPS guide us to GZ the cache was found in the first place searched. All good here but log is nearly full.

BTW - Tinytree was told to take a bath when getting home and shoes hosed down, she is stinky no more Smile

19-Aug-18
Another cache along our walk of this side track in the lovely Long Bay Regional Reserve. I must admit while physically in the vicinity of the find I can't remember much about it, I think because Bennett24 found it so quickly I was of no use at all. Still, we signed in and it's good for them to have practice spelling my name - that's Tuolei not Tuolie (but if that's what it says on the log, I say it still counts).

Thanks for the cache, all good here (I think).

14-Jul-18
Coming to the end of my morning trek round the Park and I liked the sound of title of this cache....but Rest & View what? Oh well, no rest, just search and there it is. Nicely hidden. TFTC

Nice quick find while walking past. TFTC

27-Jun-18
Took a while as GPS wasn't very accurate, but found it Smile TFTC

10-Jun-18
Now that the Waitakeres has been closed off we have to work out way through the regional parks instead. Out for a walk with muggle friends and hoping to find all the caches placed since my last visit. Found the cache but no time for a rest as had to catch up with the friends. TFTC

12-May-18
A quick find as we enjoyed this side trail in the pouring rain. There doesn't appear to have been a view here for a long time by the size of the trees and bushes. TFTC.

04-Mar-18
This cache was all good. Tftc

10-Feb-17
Fridays are my adventure day with Mr 4 so I decided to take him to Long Bay to do some caching... or 'treasure hunting' as he calls it Smile I was aware that there is a nudist beach at the Northern end so didn't take him that far Wink

This was the third find of the day and another nice quick find, TFTC!

Out and about for a hike around Long Bay Regional Park today. The weather was certainly playing ball with sunshine, but not too much heat and a nice breeze. It made for some lovely views along the way. Overshoot the mark slightly here and missed the easy turn off to GZ. A quick bushbash put things right. Cache was speedily detected once I was safety at GZ. Took a small rest and applied some sunscreen before heading onwards. With the tea tree getting taller, there isn't much of a view from GZ now. Cheers for the cache placement and the exercise!

08-Jan-17
Heading out early to Long Bay today with yorkshirekiwi83 to hit some of our unfound caches on the coastal walk before meeting up with some friends for a day at the beach. Not much of a rest here, but we certainly did admire the spectacular views out here, as well as the amazing tree! Thanks for the cache.

07-Jan-17
Nice find.

20-Nov-16
Out for a walk along the Long Bay Coastal Walkway, finding some caches on the way.

20-Nov-16
The track was a bit boggy and wet and we didn't rest and view here, we just quickly stopped, found the cache and signed the log before heading on to the next one

20-Nov-16
Made plans today to conquer Long Bay Reserve with merlot58. No time to sit and rest here with plenty more caches along the trail to find.

28-Aug-16
This walk was a bit of a muddy exercise... With the recent rain the track by the new development was very wet and muddy, all the more enjoyable for the kids Big Grin TFTC Smile

09-Aug-16
Made this much harder than it needed to be.
Bit of bush crashing around in a big circle (following GPS, yer right), before arriving back at the same spot, ahh ok that tree....

23-Jul-16
found it and we had fun clinding the trees.

23-Jul-16
Not so much of a view from GZ any more. The native shrubs and trees that have been planted in this valley have grown so much - it is hard ro reconcile what we see 'on the ground' with what is shown on Google maps imagery.
The grandkids made the find for us. Thanks.

10-Jul-16
I searched another spot before I saw the perfect little spot where the cache was actually hiding. TFTC.

19-Jun-16
A find by mister e; competition is hotting up

05-Jun-16
Yet more bush wacking! TfTc

Today it was my very first day at New Zealand and in the afternoon I decided to do a little walk at Long Bay Regional park. And it was a pleasure! What a lovely landscape! But it was funny, because you can find nearly the same in southern England. Only the plants are a little bit different.

But I enjoyed every moment and I' also was glad to pick up 14 caches (out of 20 I tried). Usually my hit ratio is higher, but for the first day in a foreign country (and a 24 hour flight) it was quite okay.

Thanks a lot for all the caches and greetings from Germany.

TFTC caching with rustynz, Gorby and harisree.

18-Oct-15
This was the off-road part of our walk, the ground was lovely and dry, with only one small spot that was a little squishy. Impressed by the pram being used, seems to be an all terrain caching vehicle for littlie's Big Grin

A short diversion, found almost as given by the hint, lovely spot. all the kanuka/manuka flowereing!

18-Oct-15
Chomping along with great gusto we was! Pulls into here with great gusto we dids, founds us a cache with record speeds, then with great gusto we departs is what we did.

18-Oct-15
our pram got some rest, while we did some grassy walks off the track. really loving this wonderful journey of caching with rustynz, rebel98 and gorby. our pre-school geo kid is in high spirit as she is able to swap something in the caches, as they are not 'nanos'. this one was an easy find, with slightly damp inside, but the log is all good, as its of course a waterproof one. tftc.

21-Jun-15
Out with muggle friends for a walk. TFTC!!!

Found reasonably quickly with Onawe on a very hot humid day

Mr beconaze picked this one up, put it down and declared the cache muggled. Luckily I'm not very trusting so double checked and found it easily. Love the camo!

On a fantastic walk along Long Bay's Nature Trail I had to take my time to find this one - but finally made it! Smile
Had the impression that the D-rating is probably a little bit too low? Wink
Anyway: TFTC & cheers from Germany! Smile

23-Nov-14
Joined up with Yorkshirekiwi83 to re-visit the Long Bay trail and find some of the newer caches out this way. No problems here, TFTC!

23-Nov-14
On another lovely Sunday, out with Vistra to collect some caches at Long Bay, we found parking easily enough but it was still morning and the crowds hadnt gathered yet.

Walked along different paths around Long Bay this time and it was quite refreshing. Quick find, thanks for placing

27-Oct-14
Smile Found while out for a walk with Mrs McMike2012 on Labour Day Monday ... weather forecast wasn't looking that good before we started but it ended up being a pleasant day, albeit with a cool breeze blowing in exposed areas. 4th of 11 caches for the day. again a relatively easy find, but no time to rest & enjoy the view ... more caches to do. TN:LN:SL. TFTC. #646 for us.

12-Oct-14
Saw a place where the cache may of been hidden but it was not until we looked at the hint we got put on the right path.

07-Sep-14
molested by spider, but still found the cache.

06-Sep-14
Easy find. Muggles tracking us. Have to go fast!

We made heavy weather of this one but eventually believed the GPS and were soon sitting at the picnic table filling in the log...
