Arrived at GZ and got that sinking feeling straight away. Looked around in all the places I thought it would be and some that were a long shot. Think the recent weather has taken this one.
Home in Cairns for a while now will catch up on some local caches. Not A Random Sample today. 22 January 2023 9:44 am Tyfc flyboyseven total caches now 6092
Managed to catch it at a good time, not many people around. Had fun crawling around a little with this one with my grandfather. TFTC
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 51. Atherton to Cairns (again) Day 2. I set out for another block of caches today to keep things moving. I ended doing three short but steep walks to get some scrub caches. I was happy the works had finished at Barron gorge and then went to the northern beaches to get two recently solved caches plus a weekend trip to a very quiet JCU.
The whole campus of JCU was deserted, but just as arrived at GZ, a very bleary eyed student wandered past very slowly. Once he was gone I could work out what the clue meant, which I had wrong at first, but when in the right area became clear. Then the cache was found nearby.
Thanks for the cache flyboyseven

Campus is pretty quiet on the weekend, there were plenty of mozies and bugs but I found it. Tftc
This for me thinking but reading some clues helped me narrow things down - tftc. I’m thankful it’s a public holiday!
TFTC! Not quite what I had in mind for this search, but found anyway. Finally figured out what the hint meant, when right at GZ. A troll was guarding this one!
Couldn't find it, but new to Geocaching so likely a reflection of our skills.
Loved the clue once we found the spot. Took a bit longer as we really over thought this one!! Took nothing left little shopper.

Finally found this one, during a sneaky detour on campus for work. The “Y” in the hint is quite apparent when you discover it. And yes, as previous cacher mentioned, the cache is covered with black ants. TFTC
after a long ride at the trails I thought I would stoop by as I knew there was a geocache in the area, I roughly know where the cache was from previous attempts to I set off to find it. with no device or GPS or pen I found the cache. but it was infested with black ants. great cache TFTC
Stopped off waiting for a bus so took a wander for the cache. Made it to GZ and took a few minutes to get to the correct "Y". After that, it still took a sec to make the find. Popped back up after someone walked by, not sure if they even knew I was there. Signed and returned, then quick stepped back to the bus stop as the wife radio'd (we have walkie talkies we use) I had 8 minutes til the next run, made it with 2 mins to spare. TFTC!!
Glad I chose to do this one on a Sunday as no one was about. . A helpful hint is that you can drive pretty much to within 100 m so you then don't look too much out of place. easy parking then go for it. ONLY on a weekend though.
Found it! Thanks for the hint, it narrowed the search and we soon spotted what we came for.
Could not work out where to go. We don't fit the image of "uni students" so felt a bit out of place here. Decided to give it a miss.
Hitting Cairns with Team BlackPearl26 to try to collect 999 finds to set up my 1000th at my Townsville event next Sunday, 364 days after finding my first.

The plan this weekend is to find 86 caches in cairns to help my companion Burgo78 reach his 1000th find by next weekend. This is find #48. Didn't expect it to be where it was. But we found it. Thanks for the cache.
Quick find with the help of Rabine just before heading to the Atherton Tablelands

Great fun looking mozzies where annoying and u just had to think about it right clue helped
Today we travelled from Port Doughas to Cairns to find the caches that we had not done since our last visit and this was one of them. An easy find, found as per hint, cache is in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

I saw what my have been the cache, but all it has in it is leaves. Could the CO make sure it's intact?
Couldn't find this one despite 3 sets of eyes searching! We noticed there's been no logs for 2 months - perhaps it's been muggled?
Day 3 Cairns,
We decided to head out towards the northern beaches tiki touring & caching as well in some scenic locations.
Thanks for placing this cache flyboyseven

This is now the first cache since a while - work was too busy in the last few months... As I'm now working at the JCU this cache was just the right one to start with. TFTC
The Christmas break is the best time to find a cache out here, House is not a Muggle to be seen.

Found yesterday, in the middle of a very long day spent looking at worms under a microscope.
Found with Stupert99 on the second look. Plenty of muggles - be sneaky! Heels were a silly idea!
After walking around in circles and looking at different Y shaped things. We finally found the Y and the boys found the cache. Nicely done
Hilarious find with ellarucci geokid no.2 who announced he needed to go to the toilet as soon as 2 people who insisted on sitting at GZ departed...I suggested we abort mission and was asked what that meant! :0) there was no way he was leaving so we got desperate, found, celebrated, took photo and tried to act casual! TFTC
Was looking in the places i am used too, that was all too hard for this hide.
The local mozzies got plenty of samples of my blood while i logged this cache.
Thanks for the hide

Fond memories of studying Education at JCU. Why did I choose the wrong Y to start with! T: nothing L: whistle as not many swaps. TFTC.
2nd of 6 for today and 3rd cache found that belongs to flyboyseven . TNLN SL TFTC
Another quick and easy one to grab. Must do this one on the weekend so there is not many prying eyes. Saw a little critter whilst on the hunt for this one. S.L Took TB Left Beenie
Found it with little trouble as it was fairly exposed. A quick dive and grab, a quiet seat nearby and added Bryce's Alvin the Alligator Travel Tag to keep it moving.

Found while visiting from the South Coast of WA. Enjoyed walking around the campus. Cache was lying on the ground. Replaced under cover. GZ was a few metres out.
Walking through the university today brought back memories and it certainly has changed.. Cache was quickly located once arrived at GZ. TFTC SL
Gotcha, right where I was looking, but afraid to put my hand last time! Just your Frisbee one left, which is driving me nuts! A torch saved me from my fear of spiders, no need to sign, you can stay right there!
Couldn't see this one for looking, place is deserted. Even so, lots of potential spots where people had been scratching. Not happening today
TFTC. Nice spot for a bit of birding. Late afternoon is really quiet around here and it's also easy to find parking.

Night time was a quite time to hunt for this one, we were a little concerned athat security may want to talk to us but all was quite. SL TFTC
The study of the rocks here does sound interesting. Fangsoki and I headed in to find the cache while in the area. I might pass for a uni student, but I doubt the Fang does. No matter, we never got a second look as we rolled towards GZ.
I was first to had in for the hunt. Some likely areas were found and the hint decoded but after a few minutes I had no cache found. Fangsoki joined me for the hunt and after another couple of minutes I found the container. It was very cold.
We signed the logbook as a pair of feet went overhead, replaced it as found and now back to the car. TFTC flyboyseven, I do like finding a cache close, but out of sight of muggles

Captain Terror and I were in the area doing some caches and decided to tackle this one next.
We don't exactly look like uni students - maybe more like Laurel & Hardy We picked a good time of day to tackle this one - it was virtually abandoned. Captain Terror made the dive first - but came up with nothing. I joined him and we soon had the beast in hand.
Someone walked over while we signed the log - so we were extra quiet. A nice look at the uni. TFTC flyboyseven

Second find for the accompanying newbie. Must be losing my touch. Nice hide at my old uni TFTC
Wow, what a nice quiet place for students to study at. It took us a bit of searching but the clue was very valuable in the end. Felt like a real troll and had to be super quiet as muggles went by. Lots of fun TFTC. L-TC, T-TB.
0815 - Found this treasure in the company of Walterhellmut. He came back in the hope to find his GPSr. No luck, then we checked the library with the same result. the lost & found sections on the campus were not open yet. Unfortunately, we left with only one mission accomplished. +/-0. T4TC.
After having been students at this campus of JCU, we had a pretty good idea of where the GZ would be located.
We arrived early and parked, before walking the short distance required to be directly overhead of the cache.
After a detailed search of the area, as there were several equally appealing hiding spots, we experienced success and felt the tell-tale sensation of plastic.
With the log signed and the cache repositioned we were off. Thanks heaps Fly Boy Seven for this challenging cache hide.
My advice would be to plan either a visit on the week-end or early in the morning ...... or both on the week-end and early so as to avoid passing muggle pedestrians.

Almost a [?]"random"[?] find, even using the extra clue I would classify it as aD4. It is nothing for [8)]shy fellows[8)] amongst the Geocacher family. If you come here for a search on a Sunday I would like to advise you: [8)]don't wear your fancy Sunday suit or dress[8)] otherwise it will be [8)]due for the laundry service[8)]. I was lucky because [^]I could locate a nearby water tap to rinse my [:(!]dirty arm[:(!] after the successful search[^].
[?]Apart from the treasure found I am interested in what was found concerning the stream power, e.g. velocity of the water running in the creek bed, influence of shape and size of a rock to determine the force needed to move it. Certainly it must have something to do with the area which is in contact to the ground as well as whether the shape is round or angular.[?]
