Logs
*Driving south today, and decided to stop here for some geocaching and leg stretching!* After taking some ALCs in the area we finished the break with this one. The hint didn't make much sense to us but we managed to find it anyway **#4465**
This is one of a series of caches I attempted during my solo trip to NZ on 18th-21st October, 2024. This opening (lengthy) paragraph is backstory about the trip; specific stuff about this particular cache, and info about photo/s (if attached) will be in the next paragraph. Several other caches were on a list to get but not found due to time constraints, legs hating me, changed plans; DNF's have not been logged, as most were only a very quick/cursory search before deciding to move on with the trip, and a fairer search may have turned up the desired finds. 30 caches were successfully found in New Zealand, from 15 different cache owners, with a maximum of 8 finds from same cache owner; find furthest from home was ~2,650km away in Taonui; a big thank you to all cache owners who put in the time and effort to place and maintain caches found. Due to busy schedule, logs may be delayed a fair bit before posting; I'm aiming to get through all logs by end of November 2024, noting that any mention of cache conditions are based on when I found them in October, and may no longer be accurate by the time the logs are posted. Day 1 of my trip saw me leaving home at the earliest time I've left home in probably 3 years, driven by partner (lilbassgirl) to Melbourne (Tullamarine) international airport, flying to Wellington (with motion sickness issues on the way due to turbulence), then grabbing some caches on the way to my NZ base at Paekakariki. Day 2 was a caching drive to Feilding and back; I'd intended to do the Paekakariki Escarpment track in the arvo, but given illness and dehydration from previous day, I decided against it, and instead spent more time/got more caches than I'd intended where I drove. Day 3 was taking photographs of a steam train (JA1271; with diesel DA1431 {wearing 345 on the sides} at the other end) run by Steam Incorporated from Paekakariki to Longburn, then driving ahead to Feilding to become a passenger on said train to Whanganui and back, with a few hours of lunch and photography, plus a cache/AdLab walk in Whanganui, and more train photos despite the increasing darkness returning from Feilding to Paekakariki. Day 4 saw me returning rental car to Wellington (with some caching/photography detours on the way), flying back to Melbourne (Tullamarine), luckily without motion sickness that time, and being picked up by my partner (lilbassgirl) again. A brilliant, unforgettable experience, and I can't wait to return to New Zealand again (but hopefully the motion sickness on planes can be avoided on future trips). Now, onto this particular cache:Cache found in good condition. Hint makes far more sense with hindsight than it did when I was attempting the find. Photo attached is of a freight train passing, photographed within a minute of parking the car to attempt to find this cache; locos DL9596-DL9089, heading towards Marton. Unsure of their final destination.
Quick easy find to MiniSwiss. Due to cache being wrong way around. Replaced the right way around.Love all the history
Happy to have a quick find after a garden search came up blank and I gave up unsuccessfully
We are back in New Zealand to have the holiday we should have had 4 years ago, Covid-19 put an abrupt end to that holiday. We have got a few places earmarked to visit, Lake Taupo, Napier and then Palmerston North. We are now in Palmerston North for a few days. Today we are going to Bulls, Whanganui and Feilding. We picked up a couple of Ad Labs in Bulls. Then off to Whanganui, only a couple of hours here as it is very wet. Finally of to Feilding and we picked up a couple of Ad Labs and a few caches.Greetings from the UK.Picked this one up whilst doing the Ad Labs. Arrived at GZ and after a short search located the cache.Log signed and cache replaced as found. Thanks to the Seagnoid for placing.Find 1 of 4Total finds 3631
Was fun to find but we were looking in the wrong place until looked at previous finds
1st one in New Zealand since last visit 10 years ago. Busy road but tried to be discreet. TFTC
Nice and easy find, thanks for the placement and good camo for what it is. Cheers

I've headed up to Feilding today to find as many caches as possible towards my Baker's Dozen (50 for the month). This was a nice, easy to find cache, thanks to an earlier log. Thanks for the cache!
Quick visit visiting family in Palmy. Had to collect at least one in Feilding. TFTC
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are on the road again, up "North" to visit family an friends. Today was a drive up to Taupo, with only rain as we drove around the Lake.Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
Im helping out friends by babysitting a very young baby so they can have a bit of a break, so using the opportunity to grab a cache on my way back home. This was a quick find. Signed & replaced as found.
Thanks for replacing after my last DNF, no problems with it this time. Thanks the Seagnoid

I was aiming to find as many caches on the day as possible and managed 62 plus some ALs. I really enjoyed every single one, and apologies for the generic log. TFTC!!
Last one for the day when it was quite dark, and both the GPS and phone decided to die almost at the same time. Luckily I reached to the right spot!
South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!

Very fun find with the kids on an otherwise boring afternoon. Got to watch a train go past and had fun looking above ground!
Out caching the Manawatu, following a Popmac event today, with Justlooking00 and taybeeNZ. The many AL's in town bought us close to this one. I'm always keen on adding another railway station to the list, maybe one day I will get close to achieving all of these. Another great cache, as always the Seagnoid, thank you.
Up from Welly with Itchyfeet2020 and taybee nz chasing caches to top-up our monthly Wheel of Challenges, this quick park and grab was in our target area. The rain just trying to start so glad it was an easy find. TFTC
#12,871. Lucky last on my day trip to Palmerston North and Feilding. Spent the last 2 hours of daylight going around a series of adventure labs in the town. Now time to drive back to Wellington. But this one was just down the road so headed there and parked close by. The cache happened to be in the exact spot where I first felt. Wonderful when it happens (its as rare as diamonds for me). So giving you a favourite for all the fun rail series caches done today. Signed the log and replaced where found. Thanks the Seagnoid for hiding it here.
My brother and I are down from Auckland for the Annual Central Easter Camp in Fielding. Of Course we are Geocaching along the way!
This is cache 15 of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
We had some down time at camp so drove around Feilding and picked up a few caches! This was a quick find! TFTC!

Staying in Palmerston North over Easter to attend Etherlords Easter shindig. After shooting to Fielding when the FTF ding went off (and successfully getting the FTF), Etherlord and I collected a few other caches in the area towards the current challenge of finding 100 in a month. This was one of them.
It was dark so I was having a bit of difficulty finding this CO’s signature cache, but then read the hint. This led me to a different approach, and I soon had my name on the log. Thanks for the cache.

Easter weekend, and with the paradox that only family can create, I both need to be in Wanganui and not in Wanganui at the same time. Today I spent the morning with family and then was able to free up the afternoon, so once again it was off a-geocaching I did go. Quite a few DNFs today, but still managed to sign 51 logs today.
Once all the places the cache wasn't were eliminated, I found the cache in the remaining place where it was.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
Out in about in Feilding today with xsaveya picking up a cache or two.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley

Found it!
Very strong! Clicked my wrist removing it!
Spent the morning at the boat ramp doing some tuning so it was my turn for an activity this afternoon - caching! Haven’t been out Feilding way cache hunting in quite a while and somehow still have 20+ TBs to distribute from my Christmas/Jan holiday so off we went

No problems finding the replacement cache today while out for a bike ride around Feilding, TFTC
Walking around Feilding today while GAR is at his second working dog trial this weekend. This was the first log I autographed today although I found it full. Not sure if I added a new log or managed to squeeze my auytograph on - my notes fail me as I have nothing written down. I do distinctly remember where it was hidden though. Thanks for the info and the hide the Seagnoid!
12.40pm. Always interesting to read about the railway as it used to be. This was a quick find here.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.

Great find loved that it was above ground level I like these ones alot
Log book has enough room for maybe 1 or 2 more names otherwise is full and needs replacement, must be a popular cache

Found it, looked in the same place multuple time didnt jave a pen. But left a ring in there.
I finished a bit early today so I came to Feilding for a walk and to grab a couple of caches despite the strong, cold wind.
I searched a likely spot while thinking another near by location would have been better. Ironically when the first spot came up empty I tried the other, better, spot and had quick success.

Visited the farmers market today and went for a little walk around town afterwards. Found a couple of caches close by. Road was a bit busy. Didn't take me long to find it. TFTC
