Took longer than expected. I overthought this one. TFTC

I was in the area today and decided to do a bit of a detour up this road. There was an amazing howling wind happening while I was searching for the cache, which was quite eerie. Luckily no rain. I found the cache after a few minutes of looking in a slightly different spot than I expected. Thanks for the cache!

Once again, as it is every couple of weeks, I find myself spending the weekend in Wanganui (from Wellington), and after my real life responsibilites had been dealt with for the day I headed over to Feilding as the nearest location of geocaches I have not yet found. I had no set plan for the day other than driving around (somewhat in concentric circles) finding geocaches, and this was one of them.

No problems here as the cache was found, safe and well, exactly as described.

Thanks to the Seagnoid for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

I had a day's leave organised for today to head up to Auckland for the Mega Event. Covid alert levels mean that, that plan has gone down the gurgler (for now). I decided to take the day off as planned, and do a day trip up here. The lovely spring weather made for an enjoyable day's caching. This wasn't hidden quite as I was expecting, but was still a nice quick find. TFTC

Having had a brilliant day yesterday ushering in Daylight Saving for this year, I had today off work to be able to attend an event in Palmy and also to go out and find a reasonable number of caches to fulfill my personal goal of finding X caches every single month. I've pretty much cached out my immediate locale so I'm having to go further and further afield to find caches, so found myself in Feilding for a few hours.

I haven't found any of the Manawatu Rail Series caches for quite a while now. I think the last one would have been just after the first covid lockdown around April of last year. I'm not even sure how many more of these I have yet to find, although I was able to get 2 of them today including this one.

I'm probably not supposed to walk across the tracks to get to this one, but I did as the whole place was very quiet. I looked in the wrong place initially as I had turned my phone off when close to GZ as I thought I knew exactly where it would be. But it wasn't there, because it was over 'there' where the GPS would have taken me if I hadn't tried to save a smidgeon of battery power on my phone. A short cut isn't always a short cut!

With no issues here the whole lot was replaced as found before I strolled back to the car to head off for another Smile

Thanks for placing this cache.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Wow so many people around on this gravel road. Kids getting dropped off after school, workers standing at the gate for ages, a couple of big trucks came down then finally the coast was clear for me to duck out and sign this. Another of the railway series ticked off. TFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We were really keen to log a Leap Day Event cache and collect the souvenir, but our nearest was the camp-out at Awhitu. We have already cached in that area and wanted to use our time a bit more effectively, so we reasoned that a trip south would be worthwhile. There were three events in the Manawatu region. Road trip...

Another Leap Day marked and confined to history - Now it’s time to head home to some normality, but not before we visit a few more caches along the way... It was great to sneak in one more Manawatu Rail cache for the weekend. The wider area seemed fairly busy - Even a railways crew were out doing maintenance as we passed. A quick find for us. Thanks the Seagnoid and TFTC.

Checking through my Statistics I see I’m missing this one I also found yesterday. I'm restarting my streak of consecutive daily finds to go better than the 186 days I achieved last year. A new area where I'll be based for a while seems the perfect opportunity.
Surprised to see it’s been unfound for six months, and with a couple of FPs, I had to target it. Again accurate coordinates led me straight to it. TFTC

Eric and Emma cache day.

If it's there, I couldn't find it...
The fence has seen better days, such that most of the cbfg's are now Yrnavat, not just.
I searched up and down the fenceline for about 10m either side of where my GPSr claimed was GZ, but came up empty handed.

Cache replaced in a slightly different location.

Was in the Manawatu for work and was thinking to myself that where should I go and get my cache for the day, after checking my GPSR I noted that I had a few choices, I decided that since there was a cache that was a bit out of town, but not too far away this would be the perfect cache for today.

The drive to GZ didnt take too long as I have being out here before I knew which roads that I needed to take to make my way to GZ. Once I got a safe parking spot it was a easy walk to GZ, I got out of the car to make my way towards GZ, decided that I would check the GPSr and soon realised that the cache wasnt too far from where I was. Arriving at GZ it only took me a few seconds to spot the hint object and it really only took a few seconds to spot something and we soon realised that it was the cache.

Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks the Seagnoid for placing another rail cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13782). Definitely glad to get this cache off my list of unfound caches, noted that the cache was LC in the future.

Was glad that the muggles that were around were too far away to take any notice as to what I was doing, now it is time to continue on my way to my to my next appointment.

Cache # 3,780 - After finding myself initially on the wrong side of the tracks, sorted out how to get here. Quick find, although I thought I might be muggled by the nearby homeowner blowing leaves. No worries. TNLNSL. Cache lid is broken on the clasps, but still covers cache. TFTC!

Over in fielding today to look at a horse. That being done, decided to tick off a couple more caches.
This one was very obvious as all the surrounding vegetation has been sprayed and the lawn mowed.

Container is slightly damaged with one of the sealing clickers now missing. Everything however is dry inside.

Cheers.

In town with Hyjynx nabbing some puzzles, and having a look at nearby cache locations.
Seeing a railway cache here, we knew we had to come and have a look, and looking at map, saw there was a safe way over so we located that entrance.
Once we got there, hide was hunted down and extracted.
All good at this location, everything in tip top shape.
grat day to be out and about!
Cheers Seagnoid for the placement.

After completing the Rotorua Tough Guys & Girls Challenge in the weekend and then having to drive south for work on sunday this was going to be one of those very long weeks. After having completed a series of presentations yesterday today was going to be a simple one, training the Local Rep in the morning before heading back home hopefully in a lot better conditions than what I drove down here in on Sunday.

Finally a chance to grab the last few caches while on the way home am fortunate enough for Mrs Dragon to be getting home late tonight so a chance to grab a few more before making the made dash north. I had noted that the number of caches around this town had increased since I was last here so may as well collect a few smilies before I leave the rest can be collected next time I'm down here.
Another investigation of old stations hard to believe that there are so many
Thanks for the placement and the fun

#6870. We came by Maewa Road this Saturday evening after dinner to seek out more of the Manawatu rail sites. The nearby sawmill appeared to still be operating at this hour. GZ was all quiet though when we visited. A quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. (#143 of 144 @ 21:06)

I could see this cache but the gorse tried to stop me, got there eventually though.

Having returned to find a cache in the cemetery nearby hubby remembered this cache that he drove up to months ago but was forced to retreat when a close neighbour started paying way too much attention to a car parked with a man loitering on a gravel no exit road. We had no details of the cache apart from what he could remember and I was surprised and impressed that he stopped right next to where he thought the cache would be and it was - and he had it logged in no time and off we smugly went! TFTC. PS -we were most tempted by the crown bottle opener but had nothing to trade so refrained from taking it.

31-Aug-14
Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.

We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.

We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.

It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.

We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.

And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.

Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually.

Nice quick find here to fill this "minute" spot. TFTC!!! Big Grin

31-Aug-14
A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.

To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC! Big GrinBig Grin

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!

Thanks!
