A nice easy find on our way to our Tassie holiday. We decided to kill some time as the boat got delayed a few hours. So we picked out this like as a good spot and I am glad we did. We managed several caches and a good walk with our boys.

A nice side detour up the hill. Thankfully it was not too muddy today. I was impressed by this earthwork and wonder if the engineers who planned it really think flood waters could ever get this high. At any rate the youngest Fergzter made a quick find and played with the hide while the adults signed the log.

Thanks for a hide Mudbrick. Great views of the city through the refinery from here.

I wasn't sure if GPSr was playing tricks on me here. Nope, it was correct. Up, up and up some more. Luckily the bugs eye views really were worth it. Such a shame so much of the lake is hidden from view for a very large portion of the circuit walk, as it really is very pretty. TNLNSL returned as found. TFTC Smile

Climbing, climbing, climbing.... YAY we made it! A great view of Cherry Lake and outlook to all of those other cherries located around the lake. TFTC.

Bit of a climb but well worth it. What a view! TFTC

8/11 Once again muggle hubby decided to bravely send me up to get this one as the snake potential looked reasonably high. I started to walk up, but found if I walked a bit further along the path, I would have had an easier route. I hopped a ditch and ran up a hill - feeling much like super-woman as I had bravely defied non-existent snakes, bodies of water and moderately steep hills, I had a look for the Cache. I found it - It was so cute, I looked for the geokids but they were out of sight so I signed and replaced cache, then bravely defied snakes again on my way down the hill, and caught-up to them.

Bit of a steep climb, particularly with the pram, but well worth it. Stunning view of the lake and surrounds. Log was dry in the ziplock bag, but there was a bit of water in the cache. Poured it out, and re-hid it under some wood to try and keep the weather out. TFTC

After picking up a few in the HX area both Mel & I decided upon a quick walk around the lake - HAHA and quick walk ended up taking us across the other side of the lake - This is the first time I have made the effort to walk it - well worth the effort.
The hide:
Last one for the day & what splendid views of the lake - A worthy placement. Here we rested for a brief moment and took in the views and the southerly breeze ... Magic!
Thx for placing this sucker in a perfect spot - shall recommend.

Found by Mary & David at 1705. Didn't expect this one to be up here when we studied the map beforehand. No problem, though, and we found it in the first place we looked. Our thanks to mudbrick.

Decided to head out late in the afternoon for a walk around Cherry Lake with Geofamily. Glad we came for this one in winter. I'm sure there would be plenty of snakes around here in a couple of months. Hopefully we collected enough clues for the Mystery Cache. TFTC & the series!!! Smile

Out and about today with Mudbrick and Bentley Parker in tow on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Joined the CO for a maint run whilst he stood back and watched me poke around for his hides! A great way to finish up the weekend.

Seen one of the bugs before in the remotes of Lerdie Smile good to see you again!

I'd had my eye on this series for a while now and today the chance arose to go for a bit of a drive out this way, so I packed the bikes and 5 year old in the car and we headed off. I didn't even realise this reserve and walking path existed but it's a beautiful space and a nice way to spend a sunny winter afternoon. Not that many people around so we had the path mostly to ourselves which allowed us to move around at a gentle pace to enjoy the scenery and the interesting range of different geocaches. Certainly a bit further off path than the rest of the series but a nice quick hike up the hill quickly rewarded us with another unique cache container and indeed a great view. The contents of this one are a bit wet but still usable. Thanks for the cache mudbrick.

After a short climb, a swift search cache was soon in hand, The log was wet so signed as best as we could.

Cheeries, bugs and cachers may be found as the hint suggests, but I managed to find eight yellow golf balls in similar places on my hunt. Thanks mudbricks FTC.

Not the best day for walking on clay!! After we logged the cache, our feet were soooo heavy and the log was wet!!!! Found with littlemsminty, Sierra117 and the geo kids/dog!! TFTC

Manzie and I headed out today to complete the caches surrounding Cherry Lake and have a nice walk in the process. When we started our walk there were a lot of muggles around enjoying a barbecue. Please don't let them all start walking around the lake anytime soon ... Predictably, the muggles did enjoy a stroll around the lake, but they were long gone now, so we able to relax and complete the rest of the series without fear of being questioned. We were enjoying the thought that has gone into these caches—nice to see something a bit different!

We need to go where?! And what are those bright yellow things we can see scattered everywhere?? At first I thought my GPSr was telling me fibs as to the location of GZ, but a walk through the muddy terrain proved that the cache was indeed where my GPSr had said, and we managed to collect several golf balls in the process! Nice! TFTC!

I found this cache today at 10:25am as number 8 of 17 on my Altona Morning Ramble. I didn't know that there was a pathway to this spot from the direction that I was coming so I took a more direct route. Loving the additional little touches on the cache boxes. I now have 4 of 5 clues so far. A top view of the lake and on to Melbourne beyond. Thanks from D B-A.

Out this morning for a walk around the lake with the kooleen and raincatz. The weather was great and the cache container very ingenious! TFTC

For Labour Day, the GeoFamily decided they wanted a geocaching day. Looking around Melbourne, we decided on Cherry Lake and all the caches in the area. This one was our ninth find for the day. We found it at 2 PM. From the previous cache, we continued down the secondary path and ran into a couple of rabbits who bounced away from us pretty quick. Getting near the area, we just couldn't figure out how to get to near the cache. After a bit of back and forth, we decided to give this one a miss and continue along the path. Thats when we noticed the other path going in the general direction of where the GZ was. Followed it up and found the cache easily. Took two marbles and left a golf ball and a plastic toy. TFTC.

03-Mar-15
Is that the correct reading ?? Are we supposed to go there ?? Oh well, one way to find out. Not sure if there is a dedicated path to the cache. We couldn't see one, so we made our own. Walked very gingerly through the long grass, didn't want to meet any "friends" in here !! A nice hide with a cache guardian to greet us. Quite an enjoyable view up here. TFTC mudbrick. Big Grin

A quck find number 4 cache was quite damp

I left the rest of our party down on the main track whilst I ventured up on the subsidary track to the cache. Nice view from up here and another good hide well off the muggle trail
Thanks

Were here on passing holiday and collecting caches, what a great series, seen plenty of rabbits along the tracks, butterflies fluttering around. variety of hides and techniques, when we started it the weather was cooling down after a HOT day and as we were half way it started to rain, how refreshing. TFTC

Great view with a gorgeous little fella to greet us. Contents are damp but log was still signable. Thought i could ride all the way up but didnt quite make it, hubby on the other hand was just a showoff! TCTC

I was a little concerned as we passed thistles, cacti and bunny holes on route to GZ but upon arrival I saw there was no need for stress. A great bugs eye view of our walk today. TFTC...

This series has been on my list for a while. I was going to watch the last day of the Boxing Day test, but the spitting rain meant that it was on and off. It seemed like a great opportunity to head out and tick this series off. I started in the rain with my coat on, then the sun came out and by the time I got back to the car it was 27 deg C.

Really enjoyed the series and thank for putting this together. Smile

This one had me a little confused and walking around in circles. Once I stopped, had a drink and started again I managed to find this one.

28-Dec-14
Great view from here cache was real wet and TB Mouldy so we'll take TB give it a sanitize

06-Dec-14
Cache checked ( is OK), plus dropped off travel bug( the frog & the bear. They now have a good view of the lake & environs....mind you, being under a bush may dampen the view.

During my work and travel year in Australia I'm trying to solve my 365 days of caching challenge. Having a moving home zone should make this definitely way easier.

After I found the Altona Story yesterday I got enough time today to walk around the Cherry Lake.
I was a bit worried, because these caches haven't been found for more than one and a half months, but luckily most of the boxes could be found right away and were in a good condition.

The cache was lying clearly visible on the ground, but the box was closed and nothing was missing in it. Not it's back in its hidey hole.

TFTC and greetings from Germany

30-Oct-14
Checked cache & dropped off 2 bugs, message in a bottle & Oz down under. Both now have nice views of Cherry lake, with the Melbourne skyline in the distance.

Had to come back to finish this thoughful cache series! This didn't disappoint!

Once we found the appropriate access route and passed a group of teen-age muggles, the hunt and the find were straight-forward. Lovely hide, decoration and camo! And the views were amazing. Industrial yards on one side, water and bird life on the other sides, sporting fields nearby, the city in the distance, walkers and bikes on the path around the lake, and the youngsters did not follow us into the area we needed to investigate.
Cherries to you for bringing us here!

23-Aug-14
After a climb up the hill, there was a lovely view. A quick find of a gorgeous cache. Thanks mudbrick

Out and about with Echidna44 for the day. We did this the wrong way round so this ended up being last instead of first. Really enjoyed our walk and the caches that you have made. There has been a lot of effort to bring a lot of smiles. Nice easy find. The name says it all. What a wonderful park this is but we struck a very windy day.
Thanks for the caches mudbrick

Nice view of the lake from this cache!

11-Aug-14
Given to us by MudBrick, but have not signed the log yet.

09-Aug-14
Further away from the path than we thought plus a climb through a fence
lucky the ground was dry which made it a bit easy.

09-Aug-14
Finally found at 3.17pm. This one took us a while and was a fair hike off the main track.
Would not have liked this one in the Summer months for fear of snakes.
Maybe we approached it from the wrong angle.

03-Aug-14
After attending an event on August 1 to start off my August souvenir collection I was inspired by a couple of people who had already collected all 7 souvenirs on the first day! The weather was really awesome for a change so today I had 3-4 hours (hopefully plenty of time) and having already done a multi on the way home from the event the other day I headed out to get a Virtual cache, an Earth cache, a puzzle and a few traditional caches today. I was very successful today with no DNF's. That's a big change for me.
After finding a nearby puzzle I had solved ages ago I parked the car in the main car park and decided to walk around the whole lake.
I went clockwise today around the lake and this was well off the main path so no muggle problems. A cute container was found, the log was signed, another clue noted and headed on my way via a small bush bash to return to the path more quickly.
Thanks mudbrick for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

We were in Melbourne up from Geelong for the sole purpose of caching, and we spotted this bunch here, and thought we will give it a shot, it was also a nice day for a walk and the weather was looking good, this was a fun series too do and some very creative caches along the way, we really enjoyed this series and appreciated the thought put into the cache, we dropped off a TB while we were at this one too. thanks for the caches and bring us here to this awesome lake.

Finished nightshift, and having a quiet day ahead, I decided to come down here to grab this great series I'd heard so much about. Jumped on the pushie, and despite the freezing morning of 4 degrees, enjoyed the circuit immensely.
This one had me off the bike in the mud, not trusting my balance as the wheels shot sideways at the bottom. Nice views, and another well out of the way hide. Thanks mate

12-Jul-14
Well we could have been clever people and read your description properly and found the track up to the cache, but apparently bush bashing through tufts of soggy grass and completely saturating my shoes and jeans was a much better plan (why was I even WEARING jeans??? So dumb!). Cool hide though, TFTC

07-Jul-14
After a recommendation at a week-end caching event that we have a look at the caches around Cherry Lake, I decided to get the geokids out and about and headed up the highway from G'town. The lake was sparkling on a clear, mild winter's day - perfect for caching Big Grin!
As the flow of muggles eased up, we headed off-road to have a look for this guy as it soon became apparent where GZ would be. We came across an obstruction and leaving the Geokids to wait, I soldiered on alone (that grass wasn't getting any drier either!). Having scaled the heights, I quickly found the cache, signed the log, took in the view and headed back down.
Thanks mudbrick Big Grin!

I sussed out the best way up to this point as I was walking along, and once there the cache was a quick find as it was a tad exposed. Not so any more but still an easy find. Nice view too.

Park was a little deserted on a cool and windy day.
So made it perfect time to find caches in a park that is normally quite popular.
Nice view from up the top of the hill!!!
Cache was easy to find. TFTC
