#3541 A nice quick find here as we work on clearing a little section in the hills. TFTC.
Was with Silvereyes and Sixpence6 today. They knew how to approach this one. Was good to have it logged.
A couple of weeks ago I couldn't make it down the steep rocky road from the top but Muggle Daughter and Sixpence6 did - without then pen and other TOTS in my bum bag! This time, we approached from the bottom so that I could get it - still had a few problems getting up the bank but a quick descent - like Gorillas in the Mist, swinging on a pine branch! Enjoyed this one, thanks All7.
Started the Mineshaft series ages ago and today was the day to hopefully finish off the remaining ones after a quick trip over Paddy’s River. Gloomy old day and rain expected so fingers crossed.
Grateful thanks to CO for placing and maintaining this series of caches that continue to entertain me on my caching journey.

A nice day for a quick drive around Pierce's Creek forest, mostly targeting the Mineshaft series. A beautiful new cache container and log here, all in pristine condition and easily located at GZ. Thanks, ALL7.
Adventure boys
What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.
The spot was perfect for camouflage. At least that's what I’d thought when you picked the spot. I couldn't imagine that anyone would ever be able to see it in these surroundings. So there it sat, confident that it was hidden from the world and safe from danger. Unfortunately, you had not anticipated that others may be looking upon it from other angles, and now they were stealthily descending towards it’s hiding spot.
It's always good to bring a slower friend with you on a hike. If you happen to come across zombies, the whole group doesn't have to worry. Only the slowest in the group do. That was the lesson we will all learn one day.
"Explain to me again why I shouldn't cheat?" he asked. "All the others do and nobody ever gets punished for doing so. I should go about being happy losing to cheaters because I know that I don't? That's what you're telling me?"
Thanks

Went on a hike in Pierce's Creek Forest today!
Tulip 25: This one was pretty tricky to get at, though maybe I approached from the wrong side.
Thanks for the cache!

Had some time this morning so headed out to the Cotter area to clean up some previous DNFs. A quick find this time out. TFTC
A challenging slope to get to ground zero but a nice easy find when I got there. I was tempted to explore further up this road even though I hadn't loaded the caches. I found it to be an interesting walk. TFTC
Replaced with permission of CO. Out and about picking up the caches near here. Beautiful day to be outside in the sunshine. TFTC
Found today on a beaut autumn drive out the back of the Cotter. Replaced with permission of CO

Today fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a 3-in-1 day CITO run with caching in-between. B0tmun, death killer & my_name_jeff_1 were all in tow. Most of the day the geo-kids & I signed as MBMD as fitzy had collected most of the caches we picked up.
Last time we were out this way, there was actually a rally on.....thankfully we had other caches to collect. This time it was smooth sailing and no other traffic on the tracks except for a couple of trail bikes. Most caches were found quickly once at GZ.
The log here is wet. Probably should be replaced.

Last one for the day and it has a bit of a story to it
After a scramble up the bank it was easily found where a wombat had decided to have a crap on top of it. Once that was removed it was discovered it was almost full of water but luckily it has a waterproof log so I was able to sign the log without any issues. After emptying out all of the water and drying it out as best as I could I replaced it back in it's hiding spot upside down so hopefully it will not fill up with water again. This container should be replaced as it is impossible to seal one portion of the lid.
I also learnt a valuable lesson today. Wombat crap and pee really stinks. Luckily it was the last cache of the day so I only had to put up with the stink on my hands until I got home.

After finishing up a walk in the Cotter due to some very dark rain clouds, I decided to come out and find a couple more in this series as the rain was holding off and I wasn't quite ready to go home yet!
I tackled this series about 8 months ago but had to leave about 12 left, today I managed to do another 7 before it started getting late and I was hungry! So now a quick and easy 5 left next time I come, all of which are close to the main road!
I took my 1991 Ford Laser out here again, runs like a beast along these dirt roads and never fails! Saw a couple of motorbike riders, passed them twice in the short time we were here and could hear them zooming along the tracks.
All the caches were found, but most of them require maintenance... Lots are water damaged and old, with cracked containers...
Thanks!
---
Another good find here, I believe it was wet but still managed to get my name on the log.. Thanks!

12:55pm with Aquilus1 and Youban. Aquilus1 was determined to get this one! It was right on the side of the road, but it took her a couple of run ups to get up. We were happy just watching with smiles on our faces. Tftc!!!
With dty73 and youban on a beautiful winters day, all blue sky and sunny saw us out in the area to find a few caches. Was hoping it wasn't there but a bit of a run up and a wombat scramble with all out the car to watch me get to the cache. Luckily for the replacement log, very wet inside but waterproof log doing well. TFTC.
Out for a day of caching with dty73 & Aquilus1. I love the pine forrests & it is a shame we lost so many in the fires. Kutgw
Off for a nice drive through the forest in a mate's truck. Despite no network coverage, I had ONE cache still in the phone to find. And so we did. Great scramble down and up.
#7470 - 11:45; It was still foggy and cold when I set out this morning in search of a couple of large sized caches to qualify for a challenge cache published close to home. The fog cleared after I passed through the Cotter Dam area and made my way to Pierces Forest to make a start on the Mineshaft series, which I've had on the 'to do' list for quite some time and to pick up a couple of large caches whil;e I was at it. I started at the start, but should have gone further along the main road before taking to the dirt. I decided to move along towards the end of the series as my available time was running down. Took a few interesting trails, but made it to this one which was found full of water, although the log was nice and dry inside its ziplock bag. Emptied the water out before I replaced the cache in its hide. TFTC mr roo

I had this series in mind for this afternoon after working all morning. I've previously biked around lots of it while mountain bike orienteering so was keen to re-visit and get the caches. Following a phone call from Fox in Jox, he decided to join me. We left the city around 2 and got back around 6 having found 30 of this series, with only one DNF. (28 finds for me as I'd found 2 previously). It was fun driving around the forest, with some great views. Most were quick finds. TFTC

After a phone call to TikvaNZ on an unrelated matter, I discovered that he was planning an assault on the Mineshaft series. "Sounds good - I'll join you." I am keen to get to 1000 caches before my first caching anniversary - this gets another 30, so I'm now close to one of my goals. A fun afternoon driving around the rallycar area, less the need for handbrake turns into the bends! TFTC mr_roo
DRT and I headed out here for the CO today to undertake some maintenance. This one was very soggy as the second lid was not shut properly. We placed a new log and bag in this one and closed it tightly.
2713 24 of 35 today.
A lovely near-summer's day beckoned geocachers out today. I have been eyeing off the old Canberra Rally course in Pierce's Creek for some time, but I was not sure my 2wd geo-vehicle was up to the task. In the end, there were only a couple of places where I chose discretion over bravado, one was the climb up to the collimation tower and the other was down the "mine shaft". The rest was pretty good although the home stretch was a lot rougher than the rest. Quite a few misses today, but there do seem to be a few AWOL.
Another very wet log. I donated a sheet of waterproof paper for a temporary log.
TFTC mr_roo.

So I decided to do some caches on my motorbike, a Posty, and what better area to do that than here on these dirt tracks leading around a forest. Most forests like this are locked by gates so this was definitely a pleasure to be able to take my posty out for a spin with my muggle bro in tow. Most caches easy to find, some harder and about 4, I couldn't find at all. Only 2 soaked to the bone, so unable to log. Prior to arriving my rear brake malfunctioned on me so I had to do with only the front brake (tough) and then my bro tried to take on a hill that was way to steep so had a fall and certainly was sore for most of the day. TFTC. Well done.
#1641 I parked 1 metre from the cache, with a big step to GZ, only to find the cache was totally flooded. Impossible to sign logbook. Desperately need maintenance here. Thanks again mr_roo. Heading back to the car, will continue another time.
After a big day on the 11th, I decided to change pace (and mode of transport) and head out to a series I had had my eye on for quite a while. There have been many times where I have looked at this series and chosen to go elsewhere as the mode of transport had been right. Today, I was in luck as my sister had kicked my dad and I out of the house this afternoon. My dad asked if there were any caches I would like to visit and this series came to mind.
We had about 4 hours of time between lunch and my swimming club's presentation night, which boiled down to about 3 hours of geocaching time. I was hoping I wouldn't have any issues with these caches and that the finds would be reasonably easy along the way. It looked like it was going that way for the first couple but we soon encountered the usual troubles of pine forest caching at Tulip 3. After a difficult search given the number of hiding places, I had it found and was onto the next one.
It wasn't all smooth sailing from there though, although a number of the caches were found quickly, there were still a few which stunted progress along this trail. I decided to also try Pierces Parapet along the way, which I soon found while enjoy the views. The one DNF of the day was at Tulip 21, where the area has been thoroughly cleared and it is difficult to imagine that the cache survived the removal of the trees. I found a small black (empty) bottle but I would be surprised if it was the cache. I also had to leave Pearces Panorama as I approached from the wrong side and couldn't find a way up to the top in time. I guess if I have to return for one cache, it may as well be two! I also managed to get one more puzzle on the way out which I had had on my "Solved but Unfound" list for a long time.
The cache which took the longest to find was SOS Alpha, with all the blackberry closing in on the cache, closely followed by The Gully and Roll Over, the satellites were certainly against me on those two! I also found Tulip 25 filled with water and Flying Finish with a big hole in the lid and looking very UV damaged. Otherwise, it was a fantastic trail! Thank you so much to Jusojara, Diamantina Stars, Delta Response Team and Buzz701 for placing this series and to the other COs for their caches as well. It was a bonus to be able to make it on time to the evening's event!

We had a great morning driving through the area. Being a Monday, it was pretty quiet, and we passed only 2 cars through the entire morning. This place must be amazing and slightly crazy when the rallies are happening. Very exciting, I imagine!
We had 2 DNFs of those we attempted, and are not sure whether there may have been a more ordered route we could have driven. None-the-less, we enjoyed driving through the forest in our non-4 wheel drive, and all up would have to say the roads are in pretty good nick.
We still have about half the series left to do-they need to wait for another day!
Thanks mr_roo for the caches, and the series as a whole. Please excuse the following that the following logs will be generic.

Today we explored Camberra and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. Back today in the daylight to find some more in this series in the Pierces Creek State Forest. Log book a tad wet.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Sunday 18 October 2015 - a superb Spring afternoon with a brilliant blue sky, not warm, not cold but just right. Found 5 caches walking 6.5 kms over a couple of hours. This cache was full of water so had to turn the container upside down, open to drain and dry but safe from getting wet again. The log book was unsignable but hopefully it will dry out over the next few weeks. Thx p2p. TFTC.
Out for the second day to grab the rest of the mineshaft series and also grab a few other Cotter caches. TFTC mr roo.
Went on a cache plunder with SiteHound today, and we cleaned up the Mineshaft series (except for one DNF) and a few others along the way! We mostly kept out of the rain (except for a couple) and enjoyed the cooler weather. SiteHound brought home-made ANZAC biscuits and ginger beer, which we enjoyed enroute!
Easy find thanks mr roo!

Another in the series that was so close to the raod that Angel and I thought we would be able to reach from the car. Not quite, but still pretty close. TFTC mr roo
We had been down at Corin Dam in the morning and decided to tackle the mineshaft / tulip series around the Pierces Forest region, in the afternoon.
We had not been in here before and enjoyed the nice easy drive around the forest.
We only came across one car all day at the severe incline cache . Plenty of roos and rabbits were spotted around the trails.
Many thanks to jusojara and Mr Roo for some well placed caches in a most enjoyable location to drive.

What a sparkling autumn day it has been. We've had an amazingly fun day on this forest drive doing what we could with no phone signal. We back tracked along paddies river road till we could populate the iPad geo app and wrote down co-ords for as many as we could populate. We then worked as best we could and took great care to keep our map. It was real geocaching!! All the caches were good sizes and that makes it more fun. We had a brilliant day and give a big thank you to all the cache owners

Attending a conference at Birrigai, and with a free afternoon I thought I'd do a little exploring and, of course, some caching. I hadn't really planned on doing any particular caches, just picked a direction and went. I had the forest to myself, and had a very pleasant wander along roads I'd only seen on TV. I, of course, went much slower. Another quick find. Thanks mr_roo for the cache

Out for a drive. The first cache found. Those blackberries are savage. Ouch! TFTC.
Easy find, but tricky to get to. I left the TB '60 Anys de 3OSIAO1 - 14 F'. While here a police vehicle pulled up and asked if we had seen any motor bike riders. We hadn't. They went off looking for them. TFTC mr_roo.
Spent the day walking (19.2 kilometres) around Pierces Creek Forest., concentrating on the Mineshaft series of caches. Some really easy hides and some real hard ones, including a few DNFs to find. When I come back to the area may drive further along Laurel Camp Road or ride my bike. TFTCs.
Down from Sydney visiting the geosis aka specimenX. Great weather meant getting amongst it with a few caches, so we decided to headout for a spin around the Mineshaft series at Pierces Creek Forest.
Found all of the caches easily enough in the series, but had a few games of "hot and cold" with the geosis to find a few of the challenging ones. All in all, a great day out!
Thanks for the hides jusojara and mr_roo!

Had my eye on the Power Trial winding around through the Pierces Creek State Reserve, had a day off work so the 4WD got a work out too.
Being faced with hoons, an abandoned and rolled car, poor coordinates on various caches and short on time, we had to forgo a number of finds , but I'll have to come back once the Impreza is bought.
Apologies for the generic log, I normally don't do this but can't remember the specific details per cache - hence the generic log.

We had a spare afternoon over Easter so we decided to do some caches around the cotter. Thanks mr roo. Cheers
There it is I said and thus it was. A little bit soggy though. Could do with some maintenance.
Baja15 joined me in a trip to Canberra to drop our grand son off, so we took the opportunity to grab some caches and this trail has been on the radar to do, we started early in the morning and the weather was perfect. We spotted kangaroos along the way and other forest creatures. we stopped along the way to pick some of the abundant blackberries as we drove around. The caches were all in good conditions and well hidden. Some sections of the trail there were great views to be seen. I enjoyed the trail very much. thanks for bringing us here. TNSL TFTC
We made our way around this interesting location and made our finds while enjoying some great views. Some of the roads look like a challenge for rally cars for sure. SLTN..TFTC
seems we are doing this thing backwards, lol. however it has been a great drive so far and relatively easy, so onwards and upwards we go! TFTC
We haven't cached for a whole week! Unheard of in recent times... lol So we went out for a drive today, it was cooler in the car than in our house, and all these drive-by caches were nice and convenient. We didn't even stop the car running - kept the aircon going and ducked out for the cache. A great series of caches, and a nice drive around them! We finished half of the caches we wanted to find today, so we'll be back for the rest. Thanks for the caches!!
This one was a bit of a challenge to get to. It was also the first cache to contain water.
Having spent most of the day looking for the caches associated with some of the puzzles we had solved, we decided to go to the area where in Mineshaft series of caches were hidden to get some idea of access issues (we have a low clearance car) and the types of hides involved. We managed to visit about a third of the caches before we stopped because of poor light. With only a few exceptions the well-stocked caches were found quite quickly and were in good condition. Thanks for the series mr roo and for this cache.
We started from the wrong end of this series, got halfway before it started getting too late, and decided we'd come back another day to complete the rest of the caches.
Really fun series, looking forward to coming back to finish it. Highlight was the ranger who pulled up and asked us if we were lost, he drove off with a cloud of dust and a grin when we waved the GPS and said we were fine. Not sure whether he knew what we were up to, but he definitely made us smile.
TFTC, TNLN.

last for the day, hopefully i can get the others asap. very beautiful location, though a bit bummed that no black cockatoos were spotted.
And the long weekend Geomission continued with specimenX on a beautiful spring day. OMG the weather today was just AMAZING and we took full advantage of it
I apologise in advanced for the generic logs (I do not generally do generic logs), however today we made 59 finds and a majority of them were on the Mineshaft series.
specimenX was having a ball wizzing around the granite tracks (I am glad she doesnt have anything bigger than a 4 cyl otherwise it would have been a scary adventure [:p])
There were a couple of dirt bikers out here today, however expected to see alot more due to the lovely weather and it being a long weekend. The whole day was very quiet on the tracks for us which made the finds very easy as we were not distracted at all
Along this series, we made a number of quick maintenance checks, we replaced a number of log bags and dried out a few caches. We also had to do alot of rehides as alot of the caches we found were not hidden very well with caching natural camo. hmmmm well we fixed that !
Cache located, log signed, returned to geomobile and off we wizzed to the next location
Thanks for the great series mr_roo & jusojara

Picked this smiley up on the way to Pearces Panorama tonight, found at UTC1046. I decided to pick up a few caches to help me along the way tonight but I had no idea how challenging some them would be in the dark. Was a great night to be out on foot with lots of interesting sounds. From memory this one was a bit of a scamble!
Thanks jusojara, will have to come back and get the rest of them one day soon.

My apologies - I normally don't do generic logs but I lost a bit of spatial awareness whilst in the forest with Wing6Rider (yes, the 3rd amigo was swanning around in the US). This was our ??? (lost count) though as we criss crossed our way through the forests. I did enjoy driving up and down the Mineshaft in the X5 though! Our last for this section. Enjoyed the drive but now the Moon Rock Cafe was calling us for lunch!
Agent Basil had a plan. To cruise around collecting caches until we got lost or hungry! We managed both. OK we were hungry, tired, and ready for lunch. Here endeth the adventure until we return to do what we missed.... Thanks mr roo.
Today was the perfect opportunity to get out caching with SecretSquirrel-BJC. We agreed to head out and tackle this series of drive-bys and we enjoyed the good clean tracks, forest and some nice views of creeks and peaks. Just a fantastic sunny day out with a good mate. Thanks for the series Mr Roo and Jusojara.
Out for a day caching with the family, this was a great serries to do with the kids. Started with a big bag of swaps and it was completely empty by the time we got home. A Sausage sizzle at the top of black hill to top it off. Thanks for a great day out with the family.
Managed to grab this series while on a day off. Sun shining, though the area didn’t get above 5 degrees today. It was a great way to explore the area, many twists and turns. All points easily accessed in my little car, didn’t go down the mineshaft but think I would have made it! I did the series in reverse like some others.
Thanks for the cache and the series.
Thanks for the cache and the series.
Our 6912nd overall find.
Having watched and been involved with the Rally of Canberra previously I was keen to give this series a try. I did find that a fair few of the coordinates were not great though that could have been due to the tree cover more than anything else. I completed the whole series in reverse.
Thanks mr_roo for the cache.

Firstly a big thank you for all the effort involved in placing such a variety of caches. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip even though, with limited time, I was not able to find every one. Nice and quiet on a Friday morning and had time to complete the first half of the circuit. I shall return. TFTC and for all the effort.
I particularly enjoyed the caches we found that were of a good size. The larger ones are all too rare these days, sadly.
Black Bunny and I had a lot of trouble with our GPSrs whilst doing these caches. My Oregon 550 seemed to be quite a few metres out - almost every time - and the Bunny wasn't any better, with his Oregon 300 OR with his iPhone. In one case we were guessing, and the area was so full of fallen rotted trees that we could not find the cache at all.
Thank you for the effort you have gone to to place this series.
