No luck today

No luck today. I must check my workings as there didn't seem too many places to hide a cache.Next time.......

I was super excited to discover that I could actually solve this puzzle, all by myself. So yesterday I decided to make the pilgrimage over to this part of Feilding and to find the caches along this walkway. I nearly gave up, but I wandered over to another possible site, and there it was looking at me. Lots of muggles around, so I am glad I wore black where I blended into the scenery quite perfectly. Tftc and puzzle.

Easter weekend, and with the paradox that only family can create, I both need to be in Wanganui and not in Wanganui at the same time. However I have a full day to get there and so a-geocaching I will go. Despite a slow start caused by traffic congestion I still managed to sign 52 logs today, and was unable to find 6 logs to sign. This was one of the ones I found.

A nice walk through Kitchener Park to stretch my legs. No problems solving the puzzle, but finding the cache did take a fair bit of searching. Turns out the coordinates are spot on.

Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

No luck here, but looking at the location and the hint it seems I may have been at the wrong coords?!?!

25-Jun-22
Unfortunately a DnF for this one means I may not be able to find a cache today for my 20 days of puzzle caching. Luckily the challenge allows skips, however I am a little disappointed.

17-Apr-22
Think this might be my first in the field solve of a puzzle cache. When I looked at it and saw the code I knew I could do it though. My GPSr didn't lead me anywhere that suggested the hint item and a search didn't turn up the goods. Reading some logs to check that I might be in the right place I soon decided that I just hadn't looked thoroughly enough - yep, there it is! Glad to have a puzzle cache found this weekend - I didn't have the chance to solve any before our trip this Easter but then, I also didn;t know I was going to be in Feilding so probably wouldn never have looked at this one. Thanks for the solvable puzzle and hide watcache!

Spent a bit of time, went off to find another and came back but still nothing. Maybe next time Sad

Due to the postponement of the Auckland Mega, Buttels and the Crystal half decided to use the dates planned for the event to do some caching between Wellington and Palmy. Quickly solved the puzzle and took a very enjoyable walk to the cache. Lots of people out with their dogs today. Got to GZ which didn't at all match the hint, but luckily a geocachers geotrail led us right to the cache in seconds. Thanks for the cache

25-Oct-21
Carrying on around the park we found this one too. Was with Crystal Fairy as we headed up to Palmerston North for a weekends caching. TFTC

22-Oct-21
I had a day's leave organised for today to head up to Auckland for the Mega Event. Covid alert levels mean that, that plan has gone down the gurgler (for now). I decided to take the day off as planned, and do a day trip up here. The lovely spring weather made for an enjoyable day's caching. A pleasant stroll to find this one. TFTC

22-Sep-21
Headed out after work with two caches in mind. The plan was to bag a brace of watcache’s caches. Having talk to the CO and found out that the hint item has long gone, this now became a straight forward find. Good to turn this sad face into a smiley. Unfortunately the other cache I went for was a DNF so I generated another sad face. Well you win some and lose some.

18-Jul-21
I found myself staying in Palmerston North last night, and feeling no great rush to get home today I decided to head up to Feilding to do some caching up there as it's not a place I get to often enough.

This was a cache I had solved quite some time ago but have never looked for before as I don't get up here very often, and when I do I'm usually rushing to get to an event. Today I had time, so figured it would be well spent walking to the calculated final for this cache.

The pathway was marked as 'Closed for planting' but as suspected there wasn't anyone working there today so apart from 1 other walker and 2 cyclists it was just me on it as I strolled along. It wasn't too long before I had arrived and could start my search. There was an obvious place to look initially, and there it was.

Absolutely no issues with the container or log, which is great considering how much rain we've had recently. A quick sign of the log, and it was all put back exactly as found before going back to look for another.

Thanks for placing this cache.

Checked on this guy today and all in order just waiting to be found

30-Aug-20
Heading up to Whanganui today for the 20th anniversary community celebrations event. Collecting some smileys on the way. Enjoyed the walk around and along this walkway. Managed 3 out of 4 caches. Ah well always good to leave one for next time. Felt a bit disappointed as the last cacher found two caches here!

29-Apr-20
Decided to pop out here today for a walk. Pleased I did as it's beautiful in the forest. Impressive trees. No wonder those who remove wood from here will be prosecuted.
Started with a DNF at Riddles II unsurprisingly, then a find then a nice walk to the here.
I was aware it had been a year since last found, but... who knows?
OK so at the coordinates there was once a seat I guess. Now where would I hide a geocache in relation to said seat? That looks promising... and Yes, two containers! Each with a log. Determined which was the original cache and log. Although it's a bit damp, managed to sign it. Added the damp paper log from the second container, and added a RITR clean log. Bagged all individually and double bagged. Removed the smaller extra container not realising the ownership had changed to a local active CO. No matter, done now. Worth a FP for the fun and the 386 days since last found.

EtherLady is away at a training event, so I'm babysitting *AHEM* **parenting** the EtherSprogs.

No luck here today...
I have checked my coords with a previous finder, but the nearest item mentioned in the hint was ~70m away (which had no cache behind it)
Has the area been cleaned up and the named item removed?

Despite this, the Sprogs enjoyed playing at the stream edge while I searched.

09-Apr-19
Solved thus fairly easily. Saved it for when we were in the area. Lovely walk down the river and a quick find at gz. For some reason we found 2 boxes here...

MEGA TRIP 2018.

As usual with the annual MEGA event, we partook in our annual MEGA Trip. However this year was a little different from others, with much more sleep and a little less time caching than usual, but just as much fun being had along the way.
The general goal for the trip was to focus on all the new Virtual caches published over the last year, visiting Cape Palliser (for the Southern most cache in the NI), and Castle Point, along with spending time at the MEGA Event. With this in mind hiring a campervan from Hamilton and seemed like the best way to tackle this goal, plus sleeping in a car with four people, would just be too cramped!
The trip was a great success, and our goals were achieved. A big thanks to all CO's for there hides.

LEG 4: Homeward bound: Todays plan was to grab a few caches this morning around Feilding before heading home via the "Virtually Stunning" virtual cache.

This mornings plan was to locate a few of the solved puzzles around fielding, before heading north. We also though the stroll through Kitchener Park would be a great start to the day.

No problems finding this cache.

22-Oct-18
Well it's the WENZ Mega Weekend and a plan was hatched to motorhome (as we thought it would make a difference from sleeping in a car which is our normal accommodation method) down here in the company of HKCB, 11HPG11 & Alpenmilch80 and head for a few caches along the way.
As time was of the essence and we had planned to spend bugger all time at the actual mega but rather head for specific caches that we would otherwise not collect.
The record keeping for this trip was a total of 1750kms, (fuel = $450) and less than 100 caches, plenty of Beer & Wine and I still call it a complete success as we got what we came for.
After a few hours sleep in the Motorhome (Kowhai Park) it was time to collect a few local caches before heading north once again. A nice wander through Kitchener Park and had the opportunity to stop and briefly watch the "MAZDA" race day
thanks to all the CO's for whoom without this trip would not have been possible.

thanks for the placement

21-Oct-18
It's Mega time! This year we decided to hire a motorhome and travel down in relative luxury, very different to the last few years. Our team this year consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and later on Alpenmilch80, and myself, logs were signed as MEGAHOAC. We went on a bit of a whirlwind trip round the lower half of the north island, chasing virtuals, earthcaches and anything a little bit different.

Another grab on the trail, thanks for the nice puzzle and cache.

21-Oct-18
During lunch time on Friday I flew into Wellington from Auckland to meet up with some crazy Hamilton’s (11HPG11, Cats&Dragons & HKCB) to spend some time at the 2018 WENZ Mega, Cape Palliser, Castle Point and then driving the huge campervan back to the Tron. With some hours sleep in the giantvan we collected some more geocaches in the area before moving on. TFTC

Team BOP on tour in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region... With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro.

This weekend had been in the pipeline for ages. It was always going to be a mission for various team members to get coordinated leave passes... We secured accommodation in the rural heart of the Manawatu. This placed us well within reach of a massive trail of caches... We travelled in one vehicle, so our journey was filled with lots of laughs, and good times... Fortunately, the majority of caches were in place and were fairly quick to locate - thanks to straightforward hints and great coordinates. Many of the caches had not been found in a while, so containers were waterlogged, and logbooks were wet... Thank goodness for waterproof paper. A huge thank you also, to the various COs who made our weekend worthwhile...

A familiar puzzle concept... TFTP and TFTC.

16-Sep-18
Team BOP are still going strong after knocking off 155 caches yesterday.
We have made it into Fielding and concentrating on a few targeted caches or ones in close succession.

Another on our solved list, which is great, because we can clear this area too.

Signed Teambop. Came down to Fielding for the weekend with Philip.Perry, Tnxpro, Nzflossy, McJandals, Squirrel Nutcase and FapandGap . Staying at a farmhouse down the road from here.

16-Sep-18
Road trip time again! This weekend Team BOP consists of Davidson Clan, TNXPro, Squirrelnutcase, FapAndGap, McJandals, NZFlossy & myself. We had a very narrow list of ‘must gets’ so this trip was essentially a numbers mission. As with these trips, most of the caches were found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and straight forward placements. We replaced some logs and containers but most had water proof paper and were all good. A huge thank you to the co’s as this was a beautiful area to visit and there was certainly an abundance of geocaches!!

Everything was fine here, TFTC.

16-Sep-18
On a road trip with Team BOP to Feilding. Set off Friday night and back home Sunday. Lots of caches and lots of laughs with great weather and great scenery. Thanks to all the COs for giving us a awesome trip

On a road trip with Team BOP, having a blast and gathering a few smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers Thanks for the puzzle

21-Apr-18
Having finished the C.I.T.O in Palmerton North plus a few other mystery caches that we had an answer to we came back to Fielding have done the C.I.T.O that was held here earlier in the day to find a few caches that we were unable to find

Having solved the puzzle for this cache's location I was keen to go out and get the cache at the puzzle final location would like to have had more of a storey to the log but that would have given out too many clues on the caches locate

Thanks for the Cache

On a caching trip to the Manawatu as I had to get out and get some fresh air after being in the office all week. Started off in Ashhurst and made my way west to Feilding. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

We are in Feilding this weekend to look after some of our grandsons. This afternoon we took them for a walk along the Kowhai to Kitchener walkway. The three elder ones all had a turn with the GPS and all helped with making the finds. We all had a lot of fun skimming stones at a place where we could get down to the stream. Thanks for bringing us on a walk that gave a lot of family fun.

Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

18-Dec-17
Solved the puzzle quite some time ago but hadn't managed to get to the final to make the find. Today was our last dot-day for the year and this was the plan 'B' after the first turned out to be a DNF. Have been doing the caches along this pathway from the Rata Street end two at a time late at night so it was good to be out when it was still daylight.

A quick find at the final, although the hint no longer appears relevant. Was replacing the cache when spied something else in the hiding spot and another container was found wedged below the first - assume this is the original and signed this log too. Perhaps the CO should check on this one and remove the old container. Thanks for the puzzle spudnz.

Beautiful autumnal day today and with a geocaching souvenir to celebrating 3 million active geocaches on offer I decided to head down to one of my favourite walks in Feilding.

I solved this puzzle about a year ago but what with the track being closed, then the cache missing, I have never got around to retrieving it.

Pleasant walk along the track with the scent of fennel in the air. Cache was an easy find however got soaked up to my bum with the long grass and early morning dew.

19-Jan-17
A quick trip to Tizzy's in Bulls this morning (21st Jan) with my mum to look at the closing down sale for outfits for my daughter's wedding next January and then a dash back to Feilding. Washing in and washing out and then seeing the wind had finally gone and it was warm and not raining I insisted we do this new run of Push'n East's. A bit of a silly grin from Mum ?? and off we went. Now the track was reopened Spudnz had replace a missing cache for a puzzle (that we had long since solved that Mum and I tried to find but had quite an adventure at) that I really wanted to also collect. So we parked up in Rata St and off we went. When I got to this Mum's grin got bigger! We tried to get this last November but couldn't find it and then found out it had gone awol. I told Mum about it going live again the minute I heard it had. Now I need to mention here that Mum does not have a smart phone lol. She just tags along with me and then logs what we get on her computer at home. So she can't navigate to any caches but listens when I tell her there's one here or over there etc and will go and search for it by herself. She actually knew where this was supposed to be so her silly grin was the smug knowledge that despite the weather she had come along to this one all by herself on 19th January and logged us on it already and kept it as a surprise (probably knew I would have told her off). I had to laugh that she had missed taking Spudnz's pathtag (she's not sure what they are or what you do with them so left it there lol). Not sure she should be down this way on her own even with the terrain level being low. The bank is slippery whether wet or dry but my Mum is a trooper and very stubborn. Smile TFTC

19-Jan-17
SUNJU and I went to get this back in November and we looked everywhere and she was peeved that we walked all the way and couldn't find it. We spend ages there and I needed a sit down and then struggled to get up. It was not a great moment in time to say the least. She told me where it was supposed to be after finding out it had gone missing. (We (rather - SHE) had traversed the wrong side of the track!) So when she said the track was officially opened and it had been replaced I thought I would quietly go see if I could find it. There were some landmarks on both sides of the track that stood in my mind from our efforts back in November and helped me retrace to the spot. A bit tricky getting to it as it was windy and slippery but I am NOT too old - yet!!! SUNJU was most surprised to see our names already on the log. Priceless! One to me, haha. Apparently I missed a pathtag? But what am I going to do with one of those things anyway. TFTC

18-Jan-17
Cache replaced and good to go.

08-Nov-16
Cache is definitely MIA. Disabling for now until I decide what to do. The signs are gone from both ends of the track but the track is over grown from lack of use. Maybe still closed??

06-Nov-16
I had wanted this for ages but was too wary to walk to it on my own and had no one to go with. My colleague, Push'n East said it was too late as the track was closed. I waited for it to reopen as I had actually worked through this puzzle and solved it! My elderly mum was keen and so we went to the south end of the park and there was no apparent sign saying the track was closed so in we went. We passed others walking and cycling along the track. This track has had a lot of work done to it so are sure it will not be closed. We spent AGES looking. Mum needed a sit down and attempted to sit on the bank and fell down. Then tried to use a stick to help get up which broke. It was quite an adventure. We looked everywhere to no avail so slowly walked back to the car most disgruntled lol. I subsequently made enquiries and were sure we were in the correct spot. Contacted the CO and explained all the info we had and it was confirmed were should have been at the exact location and that it probably was missing. We hope that if it is it can be resurrected as it is a great puzzle.

28-May-16
CO might need to re-assess this cache unless there's another access point. The track has been closed according to signs at both end of it.

I didn't expect that my September DNF log would still be the latest one. I returned today with Netty and geodog, Biddy with this being one of several dog friendly caches on the agenda. I wasn't that hopeful of finding this treasure and the last few metres were a little tricky to navigate. But I got there and was pleased to find the cache in pretty good condition despite signs that it had spent some time submerged. A good way to start my tally for 2016.

19-Sep-15
I enjoyed solving this puzzle but was disappointed to turn up the one of the parking areas to find the park closed. I am not a local and don't know how severe the flooding was here but it looks to me as though re-opening is not going to happen any time soon.

#6484. Enjoyed solving this puzzle prior to visiting Feilding on a sunny day today. A few people were also enjoying the walkway, but GZ itself was all quiet when we visited. Quick find. Nice placement. The cache was in excellent condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

Caching some Manawatu spots on a not so favourable Labour weekend Sunday.
Happy to solve the puzzler - we'd encountered this code used in another cache, and make a quick find on this one. Thanks.
Cache in order, log signed; safely re-hidden then, just as found.

100th find!! Found with Stardust718 and Tans1980. Promised Stardust718 I'd solve it before logging.. and when I looked I was stoked to find it was a familiar code I was taught back years ago at primary school. So solved and logging. Smile

#346 - Out caching from Kitchener to Kowhai parks with Atoms7 and Tans1980 and a baby each. I had this one solved a few months back and stored waiting for a suitable trip to Feilding. The delay between solving and finding was due to having a baby. It turns out they don't leave you much time for caching in the first 3 months but now I'm starting to get out a bit more. A very quick find at GZ. Thanks Spudnz.

Cool puzzle. Took us a while to find this one as the ps was spazzing out, funny coz the whole time we were sitting down fiddling with our phones turns out it was right behind us. We gave up and managed to get the gps working and found it on the way back.

#7069. First time along this walkway. It was the day before the NZ Grand Prix meeting, and the noise from practice was pretty irritating; must drive the residents up the wall. TFTC.

It was good to have several caches to find on the walkway as it was hard going walking on the big stones. StreetWalker retrieved the cache which was only fair as I had solved the puzzle. TFTC.

It wasn’t too difficult to decode the message, although we had to do it manually. A pleasant walk to the cache with our granddaughters, but we had some difficulty tracking down the cache, as it turned out we hadn’t changed the coordinates to the solved ones. Fortunately one of our granddaughters had found the cache previously, and remembered where it was. They then enjoyed throwing sticks and stones in the creek as we returned along the path. TFTC

I used to use this code when I was a kid, but could not find a correct code online to decrypt it, so I started from first principles: There are only so many likely three letter words...
Cycled out here today from Palm North after fluffing around too much and not having time to cycle out to Wharite. I noticed the tracks through Kitchener Park and to Kowhai Park have not been added to the maps, so I plotted them out and added them just before writing up this log. They should replicate across the servers and be available to Geocaching within a few days. No problems with the find, but did have problems with the track - in many places the surface is loose stone and my skinny road tires could not cope. I had to push the bike!

Great walk to the final in the rain, it took me a lot longer than it should to find, that's what happens when you don't check each spot thoroughly TFTC spudz

Don't recommend doing this one at night! ran of of light and battery life on the phones Sad worked out the puzzle when it was first published and went and got this tonight with marisa&kaleb TFTC not enough puzzle ones in feilding!

02-Aug-13
Don't think its a good idea to do at night with no moon showing, both phones went flat from using the torches to see just as we were heading back, we thought we would make it back before it got too dark and were glad we didn't come across anyone walking along, so it ended up being a slow walk back. thanks for the cache enjoyed the walk and the find

22-Jul-13
A lovely day for a walk. We checked our three caches along the way, starting at Kowhai Park and ending at Kitchener Park. The walkway seemed very clean after a few weeks of wet weather.

I instantly recognised what code this was only having learnt about it a couple weeks prior to this cache going live - how cool to have a cache that uses this code. Smile

Today I took Grandad on a caching adventure and we walked to this cache from the Rata Street end. In total we ended up walking ~3.2kms.

Once reaching GZ we quickly discounted a nearby object, then found another likely spot which proved to be the hide. As we were signing the log we noticed some muggles approaching us from both directions so we didn't hang around GZ too long.

Thanks for the adventure and TFTP Smile

I have seen this code before, so didn't have any problems working out the coordinates.
A nice walk with the family to find the cache this morning.
Thanks.

This puzzle was quickly solved and the find straightforward. We entered from Kitchener Park and were impressed by evidence of recent clearing and planting going on. It was nice and sheltered under the trees, but rather windy out in the open. Fortunately we were back at our son's tucking into fresh hot scones when the thunderstorm came!

Solved the puzzle a couple of days ago and went to grab this one after work today. Reckoned that Kitchener Park end was quickest and jogged in to grab
Nice hide, and a cool puzzle. 2TF.

{FTF} 5 pmish Big GrinFirst to find a puzzle cache- now that is not something that happens very often! The puzzle was right up my alley. As you work it out - just think, this is what normal print looks like to kids first learning to read. And at the end, would you remember what the same 'words' were next time? No wonder some struggle. We had a brisk walk to the cache, starting from Kitchener Park. We looked at all the new plants Junior cacher #2 and I helped plant on Fri and went wow! We have already done the other 2 caches listed, so we just found the new one and felt amazed to be first. Got rather wet shoes retrieving. We did a quick visual on the Kitchener Park cache as we returned and it is still there. Thanks heaps for the cache Spudnz.
