This morning I archived GC4FGVX Railway Bridge Number 9 due to impending road construction. The original hide was on a paved pedestrian pathway that travels under two existing road bridges. An additional bridge will be built over the location which is the current GZ. The structure in which the cache was hiding no doubt will be demolished as part of the construction.
When I visited the site this morning to remove the container, I realised I could actually relocate the hide roughly 100m from the existing ground zero which would take visitors well away from the construction zone.
Therefore I am seeking some advise, would it be preferable to request to that the railway bridge cache be unarchived and seek to update the co-ordinates to this new location - I realise that because of the distance, the changes will need to be re-reviewed, or do I just submit a new listing?
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.

With preliminary work starting on the expansion of the northbound Varsity Lakes to Mudgeeraba section of the M1, we've decided to archive this cache as we feel that these works will impact on both Ground Zero in general and the cache hiding spot.
According to the Main Roads website, works will be completed by the end of 2019 at which time we hope to publish a new cache on the same theme. Fingers crossed that the railway bridge remnants remain unaffected by this work.
Thank you to everyone who has previously found this cache. We have removed the container.

Went at night. Took a while to find. Very well hidden. Very excited when found it! Thankyou.
Great hide. Stopped for this after an 11 hour drive to Queensland. Now to rejoin the peak hour traffic. TFTC
Arrived at bridge just as my phone died but being a local I knew there weren't many spots that would have survived that creek's flooding after TC Debbie. Nice hide
We were under the bridge and checked every pole. Thanks for the history lesson though and we got to see a snake.
Called in today to check on this cache. I knew it should have been ok, this particular hide was developed with potential flooding in mind but the evidence of flood debris above the hiding spot was unbelievable. Evidence to suggest that little Mudgeeraba Creek came close rising up to the road level of the bridge above if it didn't go over.
The council is going to have to pull on their waders to retrieve their Railway Bridge #9 information sign from the creek near the railway bridge piers.
The container itself was perfectly dry inside - although a little dusty on the outside. In other words its ok to be found again.

This cache is right next to Mudgeeraba Creek, its survived flooding events in the past (it was designed to do so) but the pathway through the GZ is likely to have been impacted by recent flood events.
I'm not disabling this but making aware that conditions may not be optimal for finding this cache in the next few days. I'll check myself soon when what levels return to 'normal'. Thanks for your patience.

Came back with a pair of long nosed pliers and we were able to remove the container from its hiding spot. Have replaced the container with a new one.
This cache is back in play.

Yep.... that sucker it hard to get out from its hiding spot. Will need a pair of pliers to remove it, so I can repair or replace.
On our way home going for 3 states in one day. Stupid google maps took us to an unorthodox parking spot but it still worked. Getting the cache out was also very tricky!

Someone has jammed a toy into the log. Some tweezers (which we didn't have) will get it out...

looked at a lot of previously uploaded photos and one that basically gives it away told me where to look. It wasn't there though. Seemed pretty viewable in the photo for others
Called by to check on the cache, the original is still there.
Nice to see that the council has erected an information sign, since the site has become part of the Mudgeeraba Heritage Walk.

Couldn't find the cache. The GZ pointed to a section of fence that was damaged/missing so I wonder if it's disappeared .
Interesting spot though!
Interesting spot though!
Super easy find! Part was sticking out from the bottom so we spotted it right away. Found with the geosister thanks for this one, now I can say I've been under the motorway!
I had itchy feet after dinner so off for some evening perambulation i went. I had been interested in the path alongside the motorway on ramp for a while, so it was good to finally get my feet on the ground. It was a longer stroll down to the creek than i was expecting but when i finally got there my excitement built. I am a total history nerd, so caches like this really boil my potatoes.
It was great seeing the remnants of the pylons. I did what i normally do and stood in a zombie like trance as i tried to envision or imagine my immediate surroundings as they once were. Not the easiest task with overhead cars whizzing by at 100kph, but still i got a bit if a picture in my head.
I turned my attention to the cache and surprised myself by touching the stash container the first place that i thought to check. Nice! Great work on this one petan, old history, nice solid container well hidden in an interesting area. Boxes ticked, favourite point awarded. Cheers.

Our very first treasure. We left some crystals inside for other treasure hunters ☺
I had been out for a little walk this morning with Brother Colin and IolantheK to earn the 15 year T5 souvenir. I had some time to kill before meeting another cacher to do a nearby multi.
I did not have many caches left to do in the area, but this was one of them. I managed to miss the parking spot, but I did find one not too far away anyway.
Only a short walk to GZ. I did not know that the railway line came this far. Caches like this are great for learning about the history of an area. I read the sign near GZ before going hunting.
It was nice and quiet at GZ, but I had a nice quick find anyway.
Thanks for another great hide in this interesting series. [^]

Finally a nice enough day to go out and explore some areas for caches, north or south and we ended up picking south and headed off.
Found this cache at 2.29pm loved the cache thankfully first spot I tried.
Favit point when I get more.
I clicked driving intructions and wanted me to park on highway!! After guiding myself using map to the footpath needed.

No luck with this. Searched through objects mentioned in hint, but couldn't find it. Becuse older logs mention 'very clever' etc., looks like it's still there and I can blame myself for not finding it...
Even though Anth had lived in this part of the coast for many years and driven past this park many times he had never been for a wander through it. Today was that day however and it was a quick jaunt through the long grass.
As we approached GZ, Anths geosense was working at full capacity and a quick find was made. Anth has seen this area under water so many times were glad that the sunshine was out today.
Thanks for placing the 788th cache that we have found so far petan!

Saw a cool piece of history and made a muggle convert with finding this cache. A kiwi gent out with his kids had a friendly chat so I told him what I was up to, then found the cache in front of his boggling eyes. A definite convert! Tftc.
Today I worked in the morning and went looking for a couple of caches in the arvo.
I started here and proved an easy find but tricky to get out as I think it went in the wrong way round.
But I got it out after a bit of tinkering.
Thanks for the cache.

We set of to find the Mudgeeraba set of caches in the hope that we could walk from one to the other. When it proved not to be th case we backtracked to this one.
A very interesting piece of history.
Thanks for the cache and history lesson petan.

We called in today to see what was happening on site with the M1 road widening project. For a start it appears that work is concentrated on the area between the north and south bound lanes of the highway, so the original railway piers are safe (for now anyway).
There was a sign which mentioned that the pathway which takes you under the M1 bridges and past the cache hiding spot might be closed for short periods of time during June/July while they do bridgework as part of the project. Rather than disable this cache for that period of time, I'm planning on keeping it enabled, after all there are no workman around on weekends and evenings and we're guessing probably for significant amounts of time during the construction phase. Consider it the same as encountering gardeners for a park cache.
The cache hiding spot would only be unavailable if they were to permanently block the pathway, or significantly alter the retaining walls against the M1 bridge abutments (big hint here).
However, having said all this please help keep us in the loop about what is happening on site. We live nearby but not in this suburb. If you have some thing to report feel free to "write note" or send us a personal message though this site.
Thanks, Petan.

Well here at GZ we now have history meeting with new construction. The M1 widening project is now getting down to this area of the highway and as I approached GZ I noticed an excavator on the opposite bank. He was dumping rocks into the creek I guess in preparation for building an upgraded bridge to carry the additional lanes of traffic. The driver was too busy at work to be concerned with me and so I grabbed the find quick smart and re-hid as found. TFTC. SL.
Yep, it's an interesting structure. The place had dried out a bit. No boat required!! Never knew the rail went here!
Thanks to petan and clear skies from TeamAstro.

First of the day trying to clean up the area. Cool hide but found it easily. Thanks!
My first geocaching. Best feeling when you find it moreover with couple good frinds.
Checked the site and the cache. There was evidence that the container would have been underwater and the inside was slightly damp but all is ok. Just stick to the concrete paths since the grassy area is still very squishy.
The nearby automatic weather station recorded 206mm of rain during the big weather event of the 28/3. When we drove over the adjacent road bridge the morning after, flood waters appeared to be covering the pathway by a metre or more of water. The cache's hiding spot most likely would have been under water.
I'm reasonably confident that the cache should have been able to survive the flood (after all I designed the placement with this in mind) but I will check in the next couple of days. Likewise, the area has been affected by flooding, so it would be wise to avoid the area until things dry out.

I am always fascinated by railway history. Thanks for this reminder of the South Coast Line
Called in to check, despite some wear to the outside duct tape all is ok. Actually surprised at how well the container is holding up.
Ventured out to locate some caches on Sunday morning with JoojJoo57. Great location for a cache and never knew the railway line went beside our current highway at this location - I have travelled over it for all these years lol. TFTC
Another of these special places you would not know about until you went there searching for a cache!

Happened to be passing this way and knew I had not found this one yet, so after finding the closest access point, walked in and made the find. Nice remnants of the old bridge near GZ. TFTC.
Ms Wig and I wandered over to this one, and I was quite surprised to see the remnants of the old bridge, had no idea the railway went along this way!!
Ms Wig and I spotted this one pretty much at the same time!
Some great history here, thanks petan.
