After transferring this cache to Joolay it was time to finally log a find for the many visits over the past years. Thanks for the maintenance Joolay.
Transferring this cache to Joolay - thanks for continuing the recognition of our VC recipients.
We were almost stumped, as all we saw was a lot of tall grass and fallen tree. Eventually made the find. Stopped by here on our way back to Sydney. A beautiful sunny morning to make a stop here. TFTC!
Container is broken in places as it looks like rats have been gnawing on the container but all still ok with log. Much nicer day today after the freezing raining weather of yesterday. Lovely sunny day. Picking up a few on the way back from the event near Macquarie Pass. Thanks for getting me out and about Carojajoda
Found on our way home from Goulburn. We concur with the last Cacher that the container needs replacing before the logbook becomes too wet. Thanks for the break in our trip. TFTC Carojajoda.
This took a bit of a search but with three pairs of eyes it wasn't going to stay hidden for long. As mentioned by my colleagues and earlier cachers, this container isn't going to last much longer. Thanks Carojajoda.
Found it after a bit of a search - the hint was accurate but actually ended up leading me astray! Eventually I went back to where I started and looked harder, and there it was.Surpassed the recent logs haven't mentioned that the cache is in dire need of maintenance - the lid still seals well but the container has holes in three corners! Not sure if human-caused damage or animal, but the presence of a cigarette butt in the cache made me wonder if some muggles had had a go at it. On top of that, the pencil mentioned in the description seems to be long gone, what once might have been a baggie for the log was just a loose piece of plastic, and the notebook which serves as the log doesn't hold onto its pages - each page seems to fall out as you turn to the next one. I replaced the plastic with a new snap lock bag for the log/loose log papers and the couple of trinkets that were in the cache. TFTC
Goulburn Day 2 & have settled into the caravan park for the next few days. Our plan today was to head out of town to do the Marvel Mystery Series & Birds of AustraliaThe Marvel puzzle took many days to work through some time ago. I only know a handful of MarvelsDuring the day we stopped at 3 VC rest stops & also a few other caches that we passed along the way.A nice way to visit the town & area is by following the geocaching trailThanks Carojajoda for hiding this cache.
This one took a bit of searching before locating it, well hidden! Thanks for the cache!
Another stop and stretch to find a cache on my travels back to Canberra. Its nice to read about these men and what they did instead of just seeing a name with some dates.TFTC CarojajodaKeep smiling
This is the Geobash boomerang trip, why boomerang? Whizzed past this area last week on the way home from South Australia and here I am back again. This cache, why?random pickLeft Brisbane at lunchtime yesterday and made it to the edge of Sydney before calling it quits for the day. Not far to Canberra now and stopped to get a pic of the Rememberance Way sign and thought there should be a cache somewhere around here and there was. Quick find and sign. TFTC
Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Carojajoda! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
Out and about again, headed over to Sydney early in the morning, grabbed a hire car and got some local hides before driving to Canberra for the MEGA. Day 15 were making our way to Canberra for the Easter 2024 Geobash. So poignant reading stories about these young men who must have experienced so many shocking atrocities. Thanks Carojajoda for placing this here, making me stop and for contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy.

On the road to my sons place in Canberra for a lone weekend visit. I had grabbed the other hide in this rest area a while ago and just kept on forgetting about grabbing this one each time I pass it! So this time I was on the case. Pulled into the rest area just as the Geomissus called me, so when the call ended, I headed over towards the GZ. The hint seemingly made for a straightforward find, but this was not the case. Trudging around in the very long thick grass was not very comforting, and the recent tree fall made things tricky. I couldnt see what the hint was suggesting and spreading out the search area didnt reveal anything. I started uncomfortably poking and prodding with my hand and was at that point we all get to. So as I rose to move off, I spotted something. Sure enough it was there but well hidden due to recent events.Im glad for the read, and find the stories behind these people compelling. Glad to see they have been memorialised in some way.
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU.
On the way to Canberra, after a 5 week stay in Sydney to see children and new grandies. Came to stretch our legs and was grateful for the hides. Quick find, scary long grass
Was unable to find it after a bit of looking, although it was dark, maybe next time
Heading back to QLD, after spending Christmas with family, a cold windy day for the trip home, so we were lucky that we did not have to spend too much time searching for these. Thanks Carojajoda for the caches.Total Cache Finds 15320,
Wasn’t able to search for very long as behind schedule on my drive but the long grasses and fallen branches kept me from finding this one.
Needed Geomum leannem59 for this one. But concerned about the long grass but the Geo trail always helps. TFTC
Back from the big smoke on a coolish night. Quick find under torch light. Tftc
TFTC. Quick find after reading the previous DNF I went looking for a stump under the tree and there it was log in good condition.
A much trickier search than the cache at the other end. I only had about 10 minutes to look for this one, the metre-high grass and collapsed remains of a large tree meant that probably wasn't enough. I poked around in and under a lot of things but had to admit defeat. I suppose it's also possible that the tree was more of a tree and less of a pile when the cache was placed?
We are travelling down from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to Canberra for a 6 day (5 night) holiday, staying in a park cabin at Alivio Tourist Park in O'Connor, and planning to explore the areas around Lake Burley Griffin, old & new Parliament House’s, the Australian War Memorial, Questacon, the Carillion, Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, and areas around Canberra Airport and maybe out around the Kowen Forest if time permits. Have solved most of the CBR Wherigo Puzzle series and numerous other Mystery/Puzzle caches, so will hopefully get to some of those, and will do some of the Adventure Labs, Virtuals, and EarthCaches in the areas we visit. Photos will be uploaded to logs after our return to home base. This was the 15th of 23 finds for the day (day 1), and 15th find of the holiday.
After finding the "William Kibby VC Memorial Rest Area" cache we drove down to the other end of the rest area for this one. Had to battle through the long wet grass and clamber over a fallen tree to reach GZ, but then made a nice quick find once there. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC Carojajoda.

Nice quick park and grab. Great hiding spot! Found it a bit freaky in the dark with a torch though! TFTC
While out and about in the area, I was able to pick this up along the way. A nice quick find and sign then off to the next one. Tftc Carojajoda!!!
Easy find. Good chance for toilet stop, and stretch the legs. OCW MaxAdventurer. TFTC
A quick rest stop on the trip back to Canberra to catch the flight home. There is a lot of great caching around here; I’ll have to come back. TFTC.
Found today on my way to Canberra. This is an area that I have not cached in much at all save for forest of fear several years back. I pulled into this rest area and found not one but TWO caches! Bonus. Cache was easy to find but silly me for wearing thongs on the drive. A bunny near GZ was startled by me and I I called out to him “watch out for the road, bun!” Two muggles smoking must have though I was weird going into the bush at each end of the rest area but they didn’t seem to be watching me. TFTC
Catching up on a missed log
We were heading into Canberra to meet up with some people and we got off to an early start to try and find some caches along the way. We decided to concentrate mainly on Adventure Labs
and anything else that was near any of the points.
We have visited a few of these Remembrance Drive sites and we have visited this spot for a previous cache . We are very happy to see these VC winners honoured as they well and truly earned it along with all the other men and women who risked everything so that we could live in a free country.
The cache itself was a nice easy find and we have happily added our name to the log.
Many thanks for the cache.
Lest we forget.

Today is our second day of travel home to Gippsland after catching up with family in Nambucca Heads. We had a lovely time with our grandsons after the long drawn out time of restrictions. The last few days of rain made it a bit challenging trying to entertain 2 very lively young lads in a caravan park, but overall had a fantastic time.
Coming through Sydney was a breeze with the new Conex tunnel recently open. The hit on our Linkt account ($60) was even worth it! We have driven this road innumerable times over the years, but this time we had a bit of time up our sleeves, so we decided to grab caravan friendly caches as we travelled. The added bonus is that we finally managed to get a number of caches in the ACT, completing our national grid at long last. A cache in every state and every mainland territory.
We spent last night in a free VC campsite (Derrick), and really appreciate both the number of caravan friendly stops and the tribute behind them. This cache was a simple straightforward find, except we got drenched. The rain had stopped but the long grass and shrubbery was soaking. The log on the other hand was nice and dry. An added bonus was the second cache in the same area!

Had lunch here on way home from Sydney. Hint and co ords spot on. Too cold for snakes this time of year. TFTC
I liked the hiding place. It was like a easy but fun mini adventure to find it. TFTC
Down in Australia on business from California but had an extra day so decided to drive to Canberra and get some caches on the way. What lovely country down here. I know the odds of me getting killed by Australia spiders, snakes, crocodiles, or whatnot is ridiculously low, but I was careful nevertheless coming in under the tree. A quick find (along with the one at the other end) and back on the road. TFTC #3,054.
The rest area was quite full but lucky everyone was at the other end. TFTC.

We're on the road on Good Friday headed to the ACT and the Clear Waters Mega.... *big mistake* - the Good Friday bit! In between very heavy traffic and 3 accidents we spent most of our time from Campbelltown to Berrima at least in stop/start traffic, mostly stopped..... Once things got moving we got through our list of rest stop hides along the way, bagging 11 for the day.
We circled this one, dodging what we presumed were snake holes all the way.... Cache in good shape when we found it. TFTC!

On our way to the Mega and stopped here for a couple of quick caches. Thanks for placing and remembering our war heroes.
Didn’t find this one. Lots of animal burrows here and looks like I found a bit of a critter nest. Didn’t want to disturb it too much.
Down this way to pick-up something in Canberra found on Gumtree.
Nice easy find.
