Heading back home after the UFBA conference in tautahi and had about 4hrs to kill at Christchurch Airport. Beautiful sunny afternoon meant I could get a few paces and caches in before boarding. Searched and searched for this cache, including reading past hints in logs and the photo log. All I got for it was brambles in my hair and in my undies from all the hands and knees bushwhacking Next time Im down here maybe
I tried to sign off the Forsaken Cache challenge last Tuesday on my way to the Mega in Dunedin - by walking from the airport while on a stopover. Running out of time I elected to pass it over to today when I'm on another stopover between flights. Not so silly today (or perhaps I am!) I grabbed a taxi to drive me to the cache. He was most intrigued with my antics and Sharukh from Mr. Singh Taxis would be happy to offer other geocachers passing through a similar service. I highly recommend him and his service. After signing off the Challenge the taxi driver dropped me here while he parked up the road awaiting my signal. I showed him a photo of the cache and hide. Now he's really impressed! Thanks for the cache. I'd love to add to the favourite count but I've given them all away over the weekend.
A quick find once I worked up the courage to go where it is. A bit wet though.
The Seagnoid has come to stay for a long weekend and have some caching adventures. Today we are picking up some random caches around the city before TS flys back home to reality tonight. We have picked up Master 3 (OllieBearNZ) so he can come and do some plane watching and find a few caches near the airport. He had a ball here, and on the way back to the car said "I LOVE Geocaching Nanny!" Too cute! Thanks for the cache. FP awarded!
I have been in Christchurch for an extra long long weekend, and darn cold and wet it was too. Alas, like most horrible experiences, it must come to an end and so That Darn Bear and OllieBear and I are off to the airport. But we are a couple of hours early, so plenty of time to clean away some of the local green spots.Loved this one. We start with checking the signs then moved further in. I soon found the manhole but no cache there. so I... There it is! Knew as soon as I saw it. I called Ollie in - his head is only just above the bushes (he is three years old ). That Darn Bear took a photo of him grinning like a maniac. I won't post it here as it is a huge spoiler.Anyway - and obvious favourite. Except.... except... the mis-spelling in the cache title is a massive downvote. End the end I decide it just scrapes in.
Had a look but no joy so I went to get another cache. Walking back I had a rethink. Followed the tracks for a quick find. Thanks
Having solved a bunch of mysteries over the past couple of months, including the night before finding them. A spontaneous trip down was made by Kiwi Does Stuff and team Reschedule to collect some Canterbury caches. We have headed out to set ourselves a personal best for a days caching. The perfect caching wagon (a rental car) has been acquired allowing us to go anywhere with ease. All of the caches have made for an enjoyable weekend to remember and resulted in a solid and best days caching.Apologies for the generic log, all caches signed are a mixture of Res, Resch & Reschedule - a big thanks to the CO for creating, placing and maintaining all of their caches. TFTC!We definitely took a few attempts at this! At this stage it was 11pm and we were feeling the effects of caching all day. The idea to dive right in occurred and a path revealed itself. Awesome cache hide, the council just needs a bit of maintenance on these pesky hedges!
After a crazy day collecting some of the geoart near Christchurch, we made our way back towards our accom. On the way I remembered this cache was here and having had no luck previously, why not try again. We soon figured out that the roundabout used to be a well kept "maze", so with a bit of body force started to find our way through for a bit of night time entertainment hiding from the passing cars, and popping up at random. Anyway we found the cache so that was worth it
A tricky find, photos helped with this one. But we managed to get to the centre of it. TFTC
Couldnt find wasnt going to go bush whacking with the amount of traffic either
In Christchurch with AlpiSteve for Matariki Weekend and we stopped here on our way to Pegasus to pick up R. Missed the first exit so had to carry on and then back track for a bit.
Arrived at GZ and I walked around and around for a bit while AlpiSteve took a different approach and indeed came up trumps...very cool TFTC

Visiting from Ohio, USA and spent the day geobiking my way around Christchurch. This one was really entertaining. I knew what I had to do but didn't know how at first. After a couple of trips around, I figured it out. Nice hide!
Almost tripped bighorn in our search. Plenty of cars for late in the evening. Short enough a little crouch had me hidden lol
Excellent cache. Final find before jumping on the plane back up north.
Great when you find these where so much thought and care has been put into creation

No luck with this one. Looked on (and in) the street name signs and even went into the bushes
A fun find out teaching family members about geocaching. My newbie family members walked right past it but it looked suspicious too me and sure enough there was reason for that. Thankyou for the cache.
Went on a Geocahing spree while on call with a friend (who was also caching)
Very cool spot

Cunning cache. Log is soggy wet. I've always been wary of this given the traffic, but it seemed to be a little quieter this sunday.
Being a Sunday we were able to park on the shingle outside a business as there yellow lines everywhere on the roads. M stayed with the car in case there was a problem while Beeba and I went to look for the cache. It was great that there was hardly any traffic and there was also a footpath all the way around the roundabout. We looked for a few minutes and then realized that where we were looking did not make sense for the hint. I looked up and noticed something and just as I was going to tell Beeba, she was already there and found the cache hidden. It was a very excellent hide and deserves a favourite point.
Found at 9pm on a Monday with first time cacher @2r0 Feels like 5° A fantastic hide, but the log is falling to peices, still usable but not for long. Thank you so much, this was so memorable
I think I have driven past that one in the picture! Thankfully not as bad at GZ this morning, but one can feel a bit odd standing in the middle of a planted roundabout apparently looking for something. After trying everything we could think of, we PAF and of course there it was. Very clever, have a fav from me. Found with Debsnz.
How could we not stop for this one, especially with little traffic about. We checked the most obvious places and then had to go for the not so obvious - who doesn't love mazes! I have to admit that it took longer than it should have as I gave the hide a bit of a kick early on in the hunt and once found, was annoyed that I didn't investigate it further. A clever hide and one worthy of a favourite.
Lucky for me I had indiboo who noticed something to help track this one down. Well disguised container deserves a favourite point.

Who knew that round abouts have mazes this was a cool wee find but very very wet. Actually the log was swimming inside the cache. TFTC & room for Swag
Extremely wet and cant extract but thanks for the cache found with krispie and zaiden
FINALLY!!! Chalk one up for perseverance. I have looked for this one a few times with no luck. I drive past it every day, and it taunts me. No more. Got it today. Out with Greg, and we (he) found it. Nice hide. Cheers.
On a mission to the south after mega in Auckland was canceled. Team Bop booked airfares and here we are. Thanks all COs for your efforts. Due to numbers please excuse copy and paste logs in advance.
First cache of our weekend after picking up car from Apex. With Philip Perry McJandals Nzflossy from the sunny BOP signed log teamBOP.
Team BOP on another crazy mission again to the South Island. Lockdown gave us a lot of free time that we directed into Canterbury’s many Geo-Arts and with the Auckland 2020 Mega postponement, Christchurch was an easy decision. Team BOPs current incarnation is DavidsonClan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed all the logs as Team BOP to save time and log space.
So Labour Weekend 2020, it’s a numbers mission, the Cachly cut’n’paste template is sorted and while I unapologetically use this tool, I truly appreciate you placing this cache for us to find. This was a neat little cache, found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords, a straight forward placement and a good hint. It was also a good warm up for the days of non-stop caching we've got planned.
Cheers and TFTC

As Auckland Mega has been postponed we decided to do a trip south to Christchurch. Four of us from Team BOP joined up to share a car and accomodation. I always love these weekends as the company is great and makes our days and nights out caching lots of fun. We have done lots of puzzles in preparation and did some long windy roads to get them. Found lots of great caches and thanks to all the COs for the effort that goes into these Please excuse the copied logs and I will try to make some individual notes on as many as I can This sort of trip is where I find the cachly app very valuable. TFTC
With the Mega Covid cancelled this year a part of Team BoP decided to come south and try get all our solved puzzles. So here we are!
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region.

With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some before-hand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
We were determined to do the nearby Ad Lab as soon as our plane touched down this morning. Unfortunately, daylight hours are for business and the area seemed quite busy. We thought it a better idea to come in the early evening. So here we are... A clever hide in an interesting area. This must be a stealth challenge at various times of the day... A huge thank you to all the cache owners and their helpers for placing and maintaining these hides. Thanks TheWanglers and TFTC.

A clever cache that we picked up today as we had some time to kill at Christchurch airport. Tried to wait for a gap in the traffic but just dived in after realising that no one would really care. TFTC and a fav point from us for a cool cache.
We had time to cache before our afternoon flight so decided to have a look here. Great wee placement here, the ones like this make the game so much more enjoyable. TFTC and fave from me
Always enjoy a roundabout cache, and the stares you get from motorists. Love the hint and the effort put into this.
One week of work in Christchurch. After landing, I had to move my legs. What better way to spend this time with cachen? Thanks for the cache
Found with orth71 on her hands and knees.
Nice hide and cache.
Certainly is a round about.

Found yesterday but forgot to log, super cool Find with a cleaver design. Get on your hands and knees for an easier find
Dropped family from Holland at airport early this morning and as weekend nice and quiet. Perfect for caching and this was on the list. What a fun cache container, very clever. A fav from us for this one. Thanks for this cache TheWanglers.

We prepared well to locate this cache by reading the previous logs, so near the GZ Wazza parked the car and Mrs Wazza dashed across the road into the hedges to locate the hide. With no idea what to expect a short search came up with a very interesting container, one we have never seen before. The log was signed and everything returned as found. A favourite point from us for a very creative hide. TFTC
Well, that's ingenious.... We were coming up to the airport to pick up our son and thought we'd tick off a few caches. This one intrigued us and just had to go and see.... Am suitably impressed.... Spent some time looking about the maze, to no joy, brought in my cache partner (and wife), who is good at looking for the obvious, and voila. Thanks for this cache, truly deserving of a FP.
Absolutely brilliant cache.... Jumping in and out of hedge dodging cars, stealth is almost impossible even on a Sunday evening but we did it....we found it... T00thless was almost stumped and called me in for a different set of eyes to look and voila.
We landed at GZ, surveyed the possibilities, waited for a break in the traffic and dived in. It brought a line from Led Zeppelin to mind: _"if there's a bustle in your hedge-row, don't be alarmed now..."_ Once in, what looked like a classic Wangler object was soon spotted. Well, well, well, what a piece of craft. Not sure that we have enough FPs in the kitty at the moment, but we certainly understand why it collects them. Thanks Tim!
I'm in Christchurch with my wife who is undergoing surgery in Christchurch Hospital and what better way to take my mind on what's happening to her than to go geocaching. On Sunday I ended up doing 100 caches in a day with the help of the Thompsons Track and a few others. Since then the numbers are somewhat less. Like yesterday, today Mrs Kiwimykl (aka NZDi) was allowed out of the ward so came across the river to my accommodation to get away from the nuthouse that is the Neurological ward. In the afternoon I pushed her in a wheelchair around various parts of town and even led her to her first find since the 23rd of June.
Like yesterday, after dinner I headed off to do a some high favourite point caches and this was the fourth of four that totaled 305 FPs. I now have found 12 of the top 15 Christchurch favourite pointed caches and have not looked for the other three yet. It is a great idea to target these caches in a different town as it can be very rewarding. It was well after dark when I went for this cache, probably after 9pm, but who looks at the clock when caching. My initial approach from my previous find was stymied by a red light that controlled roadwork that wouldn't turn green, so I altered my approach. When I got to the round about, I circled it twice before trying to find somewhere to park. In the end I probably parked in the business that everyone else parks at but doesn't name. It was amazing how much traffic still went through the roundabout even at this time of the night and I entered it during a moment of calm. I crouched pretty low while conducting my search and ducked right down when traffic approached. The cache was found towards the end of my search and was pretty much the only feature I found worth investigating I wonder if the gardener knows about it... surely he/she must.
Another well constructed cache to round out the evening and worthy of a FP. It is just starting to rain so that curtails the rest of the nights caching activities. Looking at the next one, it probably needs to be done in daylight anyway.

Was thrilled to discover I was early for an airport pick up and may have the opportunity to do this. Alas, it was too busy and, particularly given the number of fav points, I didn't want to blow my cover, or that if the cache. I'll be back!
