An hour in Melton would not be complete without a cache hunt.

On arrival the ground was clear so I made a beeline for GZ.

Looked all over with no joy for 15min.

MMMM.

So I sat and read the prevoius logs, ok something is a miss here.

The updated co-ord's are still well off.

After looking around the structure nearby I spotted the nice hide.

Signed the log just as the council worker turned up to cut the grass.

I think if you use google earth you'll get more accurate co-rd's for the cache position.

Coordinates changed from:
S 37° 41.561 E 144° 34.283

Coordinates changed to:
S 37° 41.568 E 144° 34.280

Distance from original: 45.1 feet or 13.7 meters.
Please note we are updating the coordinates on this cache as people are still saying we are too far out. These coordinates can alter because of the buildings and their structure, so please keep this in mind. Cheers and happy hunting.

I was out shopping with my Mum and my Brother today so we decided to try and find a few caches.
No luck with this one today, there were a lot of muggles around so we didn't get to have a proper look, but the coords for us, like everyone else, pointed us out onto the oval. We weren't really sure which side of the building to look on, and after only a 10 minute look decided there were too many people around, and despite previous logs we still weren't sure we were in the right area. Will come back and try again when theres not so many people around.

No luck with this one today, we think we know where it was, but maybe next time.

27-Dec-14
Nice, spacious grounds with just a few children riding their bikes nearby. We were searching for a while on the structures near the listed coords, which actually tried to send us onto the oval. Eventually we resorted to reading some former logs and made the find 25 metres almost due south.

We found this cache today at 5:20pm as number 15 of 23 on our Melton Intervening Days Tour. The co-ords were pointing us onto the oval. We checked the bench which was already a few metres out and it was only after reading a previous log that it was near on the building did we walk over there for the find. Wow, that is a long way out and a wonder this one gets found at all with the current co-ords. Thanks from D & HA B-A.

27-Dec-14
Did not find it even with previous clues.

23-Dec-14
Found on another caching adventure with Trailrunning, With the day off we decided to head out to the Western Suburbs and do a few caches, the higlight being the TSS caches. Was glad to tick this one off after a previous visit here resulted in a DNF. Thanks The Seven Secrets for the cache.

Out on a day/night of caching with Geordiefamily around Melton to add smileys to the map.
We looked in what we thought was the correct spot with no results, we tried the updated coords but they put us further out on the oval so we retreated to the warm car to read through the logs which gave us a great hint for the devious hide.
Thanks for the Cache The Seven Secrets

on a visit from Geelong with alchey. Second visit here, First time nothing was forthcoming. This time at 9.15 it was quiet and muggle free. Searched, checked updated coords and still gps still jumping and cache illusive. Retreated to car and had a read of previous logs. Previous hint was a great help, so had another go. Success. Sneaky little nano. Good hide. Tftc.

What a dodgy part of town and dodgy coordinates too! Yikes and to think I was considering Melton as a home base when I moved to the area! Thanks for the clue in earlier posts, wouldn't have found it without their help. TFTC

Unfortunately we are disabling this cache for the moment as our club rooms have been broken into 3 times in the last 3 weeks and we are concerned for our geocachers safety and security. Please accept our apologies for this but our concerns for you are paramount at this time.

Found by Mary & David at 1605. Very impressed by these facilities. Had to wait for a dog walker to depart before we could start our search. Our indicated GZ was way out on the grass - we didn't have the latest coordinates - but McAdies put us on the right track. Some kids were playing up on the roof when we left, so there could be more blood! Our thanks to The Seven Secrets.

2nd of the two Melton caches that I have left to do. Last time there was sport on here, not on Wed morning though. Thanks to McAdies log I narrowed the search area right down

Again we spent way too much time looking for this geocache due to dodgy coordinates.
Finally after expanding the radius we found the cache.
For future searchers look near the building.
Somewhere near a drain pipe might be a good idea.

Found with Mum & Dad.
Thanks for placing it for me to find.

Like others found this little cache in an obvious spot but GZ was 10m away in the open between the oval and the rooms. Try coordinates: s37 41.561, E143 34.283! TFTC The Seven Sisters.

This cache is good and up and running again. Replaced it with another micro-nano. Checked coords again and our GPS took us straight to it and did a double check on waypoint position when there and all was good.

09-Jan-14
Owner maintenance done.

01-Jan-14
As I described below, the log is now full and by chance we found this cache just out in the open, so my wife and I decided to retrieve the cache and contact the CO so we can hand the cache over so that they can replace the log and also then the cache in it's actual location for others to find.

01-Jan-14
After a 15 min search of the area we finally had the cache in hand, but it was definitley not where it was meant to be, as we found it out in the open just sitting on the ground. We signed the log but also found that the log is now full. We have decided to retrieve the cache and contact the CO so that they can replace the log and also then the cache in it's actual location for others to find. TFTC, The Seven Secrets.

Found @15:27 #3391
Having attended the Intervening Days VI event, myself and Ahomburg tackle the remaining urban caches around and South of Melton this afternoon.

Arrived on site to find Alansee who had search all over and was currently using a PAF to narrow down the search grind. The coordinates are out by at least 10m. A sneaky hide and please to have this one found.

Date: 27 December 2013
Time: 3:33pm
Find # 3485
Streak: 149 days

I was out and about today with my caching mate SedgwickDave. The main mission was to attend the Intervening Days VI event and also to find as many caches North of the Western Freeway (M8) as possible.

When we arrived at GZ, we spotted a fellow cacher Alansee. We went to where we thought GZ was but it seemed to be right out in the open, nowhere near a hiding spot. By this time, Alan was on the phone to a PAF and he pointed to a spot about 15 metres away. Soon enough the cache was in hand, signed and returned. Would suggest CO to re check co-ords.

Thanks to The Seven Secrets for the cache.

27-Dec-13
Searching for a few caches after the event this was first up. As others have found the GPS had me out in the grassy area, nowhere near a potential hide. After checking several far-flung places I decided to PAF and then Sedgewick Dave and Ahomberg joined me and between us we made the find, some 15 metres from my GZ.

27-Dec-13
Found this one today. After DNF another local cache with this D/T rating and needing this one for a NZ challenge I am doing - I found myself here. Like previous cachers I found the coordinates to lead me to a grassy area and I reckon they were out by about 15m but I didn't take a reading as it is hard to do so where the cache is hidden. I kept looking and was determined to find this one but he led me on a merry goose chase. Eventually the find was made and the log signed and the cache was returned to its sneaky hide. I had problems with the magnet on its return but think this may just have been me holding my mouth the wrong way. It may be worth checking the coordinates and the magnet at some stage.

Thanks for the cache The Seven Secrets.

Had an early job in Melton so stopped here at 6:30am to try and grab a quick cache.
GPSr had me in the middle of a grassy area but after expanding the search area and no cache found, decided I had better get going. Might have another look after intervening days.

12-Dec-13
Success at last this afternoon. Geohusband did not take long to find this well hidden cache that had eluded us last time we tried to find it! I certainly was a great hiding spot. The area was muggle free and that sure does help.
TFTC The Secret Seven and giving us a good challenge which we did enjoy.

05-Nov-13
Unfortunately we did not find this elusive cache at lunchtime today. Spent quite some time and were fortunate that the only muggles were on the other side of the building! Still, did not waste our time all together as we picked up some trash and placed it in the bins provided!
TFTC The Secret Seven for your well hidden cache that we hope to find another day???

13-Oct-13
After parking near the freeway side of the park, Sully1 and I made our way to this one wondering where you could hide a cache in this fortified area. Luckily good coords made our first guess a winner.
Thanks again The Seven Secrets

A nice quick pick up with bogonghazy on a miserable wet and damp October day. Not a muggle in sight here today. Thanks to the Seven Secrets for the cache.

Find number 4 of 27 today. I had to abandon this one a few months ago due to a footy game. Today, nobody in sight and the cache was found pretty quickly. Sneaky place for a nano. My thanks to The Seven Secrets for the cache.

Too difficult for me! I will try again next time we visit & bring less tired caching eyes Smile

12-Aug-13
Had to make a quick trip to Melton after umpiring netball in the Marsh to clean up a couple of these new caches.

GPS had me in the middle of no mans land, half way between the pavillion and the fence. So after a helpful hint from another cacher, I was able to grab this little nano. Had to go back to the car to get the tweezers to extract it and whilst there two muggles drove up and then proceeded to go a ground inspection.

After waiting 15 mins I was able to put it back in its place and off.

Thanks for the cache The Seven Secrets

While Tag-along had to visit the doctor I went out in search of my cache for August.
All was quiet her. I did the usual geo-dance and then came up with the goods. When I lived in the are none of this sporting facility was around, just vacant land. Big improvement here.

Suscoe's find number two for the morning.
A cold start out here today and no one was about at this time.
A bit of a search here until Mrs. S said,"there it is!"
A clever hide in such an open space.

Found with "Vacachin"

Was sitting at home when the cache was published. Looked and it was 390m away, so I couldn't resist ging for the FTF.

Pulled up in the carpark and saw another car, and thought damn, I've missed it!

Introduced myself, and we started the hunt together.

Well done Vacachin for the find.
