checking up on the cache.. present and correct - new log container installed.
Coming back up from the Cowan Pool we headed along Odins Timber Track and the ups and downs of Walker Ridge Track to go to Pararaha Valley when we found this cache. Cache in good condition, TFTC.
As BBQ plans changed the night before due to an injured friend I decided spontaneous to go for a longer hike. I was anyhow overdue on some "me" time. Parked and started at the Lone Kauri Rd and moved fast along the Buck Taylor Track along onto Muir Track and back via Walker Ridge Track.
Found right away knowing the hint. TFTC

After watching my footing on the way down this track, it was good to stop for a bit to find another cache. I spotted a couple of odd ones that looked like they could be hiding a cache, turns out my first choice was the right choice. TFTC.
Out for a wander in the Waitakeres with evilno9 and Gorbygorbachov for the day. We headed down the Pararaha gorge and then back via Muir / Walker Ridge / Odlins Timber Tracks and back to the car some 10 hours later and all up 19km. A very memorable day and what is arguably the most scenic place in the Waitakeres. My first mission down the Pararaha and loved every minute of it.
Nearing the end of todays mission, we were all feeling abit tired at this point. But with a downhill stretch we made it to GZ in pretty good time. Once at GZ the cache was quickly found and we carried on our way, TFTC!

I was out today with Alligatorsnz and a very tolerant muggle friend, doing a circular hike from Lone Kauri Road along Odlin Timber Track, Walker Ridge, Muir Track and returning via Buck Taylor Track, with a couple of stream excursions along the way. Passed this cache in our travels and I was able to walk directly to this one for a nice quick find! Cache in good condition, TFTC!
I met these 2 guys from DOC at Orange Peel Crn, they both had very sharp machetes which they were very keen to show me for some reason! They do 8 hr bush walks every Sunday doing trk maintenance, I would say they are well into their 60's, but I guarantee they would out walk any 20 yr old!! Hardcore. But getting back to the cache, all good, very discreet I would say, track being hacked by these 2 DOC guys, but cache well enough away to still be discreet!
Quick side trip from the Walker Kuri loop around Whatipu. Will be back, with reinforcements, for the Cowan T4TC
Found myself in the neighborhood, so decided to find this cache an capture another Waitakere smiley. Cheers for the cache.
Likewise, I just trotted up the hill after a popular 'off road' excursion. Stream pools are just the thing for a hot sticky day. T4TC - M@
Quick find together with one of the 2hopefuls during a Waitakere training walk for Oxfam Trailwalker.

In and out from lone Kauri Rd, track a little slippery after last nights rain so we placed bets on who would get the first red racing stripe on their shorts, but neither of us did. GPS led us well astray initially at GZ putting us 30m out, then eventually decided to point us in a more likely location and the cache was found. Heading back to the car we ran into "Rumo and Rala" heading in for a much longer walk.
Always good to see new caches published out here, as its always a good excuse to head back out here. Luckily it was another cracker of a day, so with evilno9 headed out to see what we could find. Hadn't been down this track for a while, so good to go somewhere different. After a pleasant walk came up to GZ and soon found what were looking for. Great to find a blank log book to go with it for our efforts Signed the log, and headed back up the track in no particular hurry at all TFTC
Had a plan to come out here during the week and with the weather looking pretty decent headed out with lemski to give it a go. Attacked this one from the Don McLean end and made pretty good time to be at GZ within an hour. Quick hunt about and the cache was found in the likely spot with everything seeming to be in order. Found ourselves a very blank page for our troubles which we celebrated with a little rocket fuel to help us get back up the hill. Back at the car in quick time and all done in just under two hours.
Very enjoyable plough through the bush, never get sick of coming out here - TFTC
